  • As the competition becomes more severe, the importance of brand confidence is coming to the front mainly because there has been a tendency of the customer for choosing a product or service in conjunction with the confidence. The concept of brand personality has formed as a result of various efforts for establishing a differentiated and confident brand image. The brand personality is regarded a useful mean for meeting objectives of a corporation for establishing a distinctive brand identity as well as customers for expressing their self-image. In line with the growing importance of the brand personality, researchers have attempted to measure it by various methods. However, most of researches were based on verbal and quantitative methods which take a long period of time and lots of efforts to analyze their results. Such methods also have limitations for visualizing the results. In this vein, this study aims to develop a new visible brand personality measurement system by utilizing the purpose-designed avatar. Major findings of the study are as follows: Firstly, the avatar can be an effective mean for visualizing the brand personality. As the avatar can visualize the personalities of human-beings through facial expressions, clothing, attitudes and movements, a specially designed avatar can express the brand personality. Secondly, types of the brand personality can be segregated into distinctive seven classes and such classes are used as guidelines for developing specially designed brand personality avatars. Thirdly, the purpose-designed brand personality avatar can be an effective mean for measuring the brand personality as a result of various tests for the validity. In condusion, avatar can be a more powerful tool than language for measuring the brand personality.

  • This study proposes urban development concept and strategies for Garden City, focused on Solaseado, Yeongam Heanam Tourism-Leisure Type Enterprise City in Korea. Understanding that an essential element of a garden is the endless care performed by gardeners, the Garden City development concept suggests applying this idea to making planned cities by cultivating the potential natural landscape of the site in the long run. The meaning of Garden City can be defined in three aspects; an attitude and process of planning a city, a system for constructing the spatial structure of a city, and city branding. A Garden City is a city structured with the spirit of a garden, a city where open space networks become the urban structure, and a city that builds its identity through the landscape, respectively. From this point of view, the research draws development strategies with spatial design examples to embody the Garden City concept in Solaseado by following three steps; establishing the main urban axes, creating city networks through the conjunction of the axes, and categorizing and systematizing open spaces within the city. Consequently, the study shows an alternative urban planning model that extends the concept of a Garden City while maintaining the intrinsic landscape as an urban resource. In addition, the conceptual master plan of Solaseado will structure the urban landscape and park system according to the Garden City strategies.

  • The visual characteristics of the World Cup emblem play an important role in conveying culture and identity, highlighting the key elements of the Games, and strengthening the brand image. This study first investigated the visual elements and theoretical background of the emblem through previous studies. Second, the selection of symbolism, shape, and color was the subject of the study. Third, based on the shape-related theory based on the '100 National Cultural Symbols', the analysis was performed using the 'IRI Color Matching Image Scale' as a tool, and a final conclusion was drawn. The World Cup emblem uses a lot of ethnic and living symbols, and the living and ethnic symbols are expressed in a combination. In the beginning, there were many symmetric shapes, but after that it changed to an asymmetric shape. The curved expression form is more used than the straight expression form. And most of the color arrangement image scale distribution shows light, dynamic and modern color arrangement characteristics. In the future, the World Cup emblem design will continue to use national and living symbols. The shape of the emblem should use curves and asymmetric designs, be intuitive, and directly reflect the theme of the competition. In addition, the national flag color should be used as the main color, and other colors should be used as secondary colors. The combination of colors must match the light, dynamic and modern color characteristics of the IRI color scheme image scale.

The study focuses on identifying the relations between pop music and fashion styles which are occupying positions firmly on the bases of youth culture through analysing the relations between the fashion styles and music genres which are used in sub-culture groups to express their own identities and consciousness from a point of semiotics. In conclusion, subculture is the exit of their escaping from the compelling inconsistency cause by the condition of people's life and the way for them to solve through cultural sublimating for themselves. People come up with distinctive style of music and fashion to express their resistant signifie in their symbolic way. In addition, a particular music trend has much to do with a contemporary fashion style. In the relationship between music and fashion, there have been the subtle mechanism to boost and influence and some crucial similarity each other to signify inner values of the times. • Economy-based urban redevelopment is the main priority in Malaysia, but has resulted in social problems such as gentrification, loss of heritage and identity, inequity, etc. Hence, it is crucial for the government to seek other alternatives rather than being solely reliant on urban redevelopment. Neighborhood renewal is a strategy involving the integration of redevelopment, rehabilitation, revitalization and preservation that aims to improve deprived areas using a more holistic approach. The aim of this paper is to review the neighborhood renewal policies in developed countries and to identify those elements that can be adopted in Malaysia. This study is conducted via a literature review. It was found that neighborhood renewal which integrates people-based, place-based and system-based policies highlights the importance of diversity, thereby aiming for resource optimization, community engagement and urban governance with the focal point of the fair, equity and systematic provision of resources. This paper concluded that neighborhood renewal in Malaysia should be initiated by locals with an emphasis on real local participation and a sustainable funding system. The government and local authorities should be observers rather than implementers.
