자유면 대수층에서 지형 경사와 강우를 고려한 수리경사 변동 분석 (Analysis of hydraulic gradient variation according to topographic gradient and rainfall in unconfined aquifer)

  • 본 연구에서는 효교리 지역에서 지형 경사가 다른 2개 구간을 설정하여 구간별 수리경사를 산정하고 지형 경사와 강우에 따른 수리경사 변동을 분석하였다. 연구부지 내 모든 지하수공에서 강우량이 증가할수록 지하수위가 상승하는 것으로 나타났으며, 지하수위 상승량은 지하수공의 고도가 높을수록 작았다. 연구부지 내 수리경사의 변동은 지형 경사가 급한 구간에서는 크고 지형 경사가 완만하면 작았다. 강우에 의한 수리경사 변동은 지형 경사가 급한 구간에서는 강우에 의한 영향성이 높았으며, 지형 경사가 완만한 구간에서는 강우에 의한 영향성이 낮았다. 본 연구를 통해 자유면 대수층에서 수리경사 변동은 지형 경사와 강우에 의한 복합적인 영향으로 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

A spiral variable section capillary model for piping hydraulic gradient of soils causing water/mud inrush in tunnels

  • An innovative spiral variable-section capillary model is established for piping critical hydraulic gradient of cohesion-less soils causing water/mud inrush in tunnels. The relationship between the actual winding seepage channel and grain-size distribution, porosity, and permeability is established in the model. Soils are classified into coarse particles and fine particles according to the grain-size distribution. The piping critical hydraulic gradient is obtained by analyzing starting modes of fine particles and solving corresponding moment equilibrium equations. Gravities, drag forces, uplift forces and frictions are analyzed in moment equilibrium equations. The influence of drag force and uplift force on incipient motion is generally expounded based on the mechanical analysis. Two cases are studied with the innovative capillary model. The critical hydraulic gradient of each kind of sandy gravels with a bimodal grain-size-distribution is obtained in case one, and results have a good agreement with previous experimental observations. The relationships between the content of fine particles and the critical hydraulic gradient of seepage failure are analyzed in case two, and the changing tendency of the critical hydraulic gradient is accordant with results of experiments.

자유면 대수층에서 강우량에 따른 수리경사 계절 변동 분석 : 효교리 (Seasonal Variation of Hydraulic Gradient according to Rainfall in Unconfined Aquifer : Hyogyo-ri )

  • In this study, the hydraulic gradient was calculated using the groundwater level and rainfall observed in the Hyogyo-ri area for a year, and the change in the hydraulic gradient according to the rainfall was analyzed. It was found that the groundwater level increased as the rainfall increased in all groundwater wells in the research site, and the groundwater level rise decreased as the altitude of the groundwater well increased. The hydraulic gradient in the research site ranged from 0.016 to 0.048, decreasing during rainfall and increasing after the end of the rainfall. As the rainfall increased, the groundwater level rise in the low-altitude area was more than the high-altitude area, and the hydraulic gradient decreased due to the difference in groundwater level rise according to the altitude. Through this study, it was found that the influence of rainfall is dominant for the fluctuation of the hydraulic gradient in the unconfined aquifer.

Experimental study of rockburst under true-triaxial gradient loading conditions

  • Due to the underground openings, the tangentially concentrated stress of the tunnel remains larger at excavation boundary and decreases toward the interior of the surrounding rock with a certain gradient. In order to study the effect of different gradient stress on rockburst, the true-triaxial gradient and hydraulic-pneumatic combined test apparatus were carried out to simulate the rockburst processes. Under the different gradient stress conditions, the rock-like specimen (gypsum) was tested independently through three principal stress directions loading--fast unloading of single surface--top gradient and hydraulic-pneumatic combined loading, which systematically analyzed the macro-mesoscopic damage phenomena, force characteristics and acoustic emission (AE) signals of the specimen during rockburst. The experimental results indicated that the rockburst test under the gradient and hydraulic-pneumatic combined loading conditions could perfectly reflect the rockburst processes and their stress characteristics; Relatively high stress loading could cause specimen failure, but could not determine its mode. The rockburst under the action of gradient stress suggested that the failure mode of specimen mainly depended on the stress gradient. When the stress gradient was lower, progressive and static spalling failure occured and the rockburst grades were relatively slight. On the other hand, shear fractures occurred in rockbursts accounted for increasingly large proportion as the stress gradient increased and the rockburst occurred more intensely and suddenly, the progressive failure process became unconspicuous, and the rockburst grades were moderate or even stronger.

하천 제방 단면 특성이 동수경사에 미치는 영향에 관한 해석적 연구 (A Analytical Study on Influence of Gradients on Section Characteristics of River Banks)

  • 최근 기상이변에 의해 대형 태풍과 집중 호우가 발생하게 되었고, 이로 인한 이상 홍수로 인해 제방 붕괴를 일으켜 인근지역에 직접적인 큰 재산피해와 인명피해를 가져오게 되는 일이 적지 않다. 본 논문에서는 하천제방 단면의 주요 특성치인 제방 둑마루 폭, 비탈면 경사도, 제방 높이의 변화에 따른 수치해석을 실시하였고, 유출부 동수경사를 분석하여 제방에 대한 안정성 검토를 실시하였다. 그 결과 비탈면 경사의 확대가 둑 마루폭 증가보다 유출부 영역에서의 동수경사 감소 효과를 더 크게 나타나는 것으로 평가되었다. 즉, 하천 제방 설계 및 보강 시 비탈면 경사의 확대가 둑 마루폭 증가보다 더 효과적인 것으로 판단된다.

Experimental und Numerical Sensitivity Analyses on Push Pull Tracer Tests

  • Single-well tracer tests, especially push pull tracer tests, are more effective to estimate hydraulic parameters and microbial metabolic activities in terms of duration and cost compared to multi-well tracer tests. However, there are some drawbacks in accuracy, complicated data analysis and uniqueness. These shortages are thought to be derived from the applied conditions which affect mass recovery curve and breakthrough curve. Factors such as extraction rate, resting period, hydraulic conductivity and hydraulic gradient are considered as the major factors determining the mass recovery rate and shape of the breakthrough curve. The results of the sensitivity analysis are summarized as follows: 1) the significant change in concentration of breakthrough curve is obtained when the extraction rate increases. This effect would also be much higher if the hydraulic conductivity is lower; 2) the mass recovery rate decreases with the increase of resting time, and the difference of mass recovery rates for different resting times is inversely proportional to the hydraulic conductivity; 3) the sensitivity values decrease with time. The hydraulic conductivity affects not only the early period, but the later period of the breakthrough curves; 4) The influence of the hydraulic gradient on the breakthrough curves is greater at earlier stage than at later stage. The mass recovery rate is inversely proportional to the hydraulic gradient.

하천제방의 세굴에 대한 안정성 연구 (The Stability Evaluation of River Embankment for a Piping Phenomenon)

  • 본 논문에서는 상향 침투시험기를 이용하여 3가지 시료에 대하여 상향 투수시험을 수행하였고, 이를 통하여 한계속도, 한계동수경사, 투수계수 등을 산정하여 기존의 세굴 검토 방법에 대한 신뢰성을 파악하였다. 또한 세굴 설계인자에 대하여 FEM Program인 Plaxis를 이용하여 민감도 분석을 수행하였다. 민감도 분석결과 제방 하부의 출구부 동수 경사에 가장 영향을 많이 미치는 인자는 중심코어의 높이로 나타났다. 또한 제방의 구배와 뚝마루 폭이 중심코어의 높이 다음으로 세굴에 영향성이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 중심코어의 뚝마루폭은 출구부의 동수경사 변화에 영향이 적은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 민감도 분석결과를 이용하여 설계시 동수경사가 기준 동수경사보다 크게 나타날 경우 민감도 변화가 큰 설계인자를 변경하여 경제적이고 보다 손쉬운 출구부 동수경사 저감이 가능하리라 판단된다.

Piping현상 발생에 미치는 투수계수비와 침투유속의 영향에 대한 연구 (The Influence of K-ratio and Seepage Velocity on Piping Occurrence)

  • 차수성이 요구되는 제체나 댐체에 대하여 안정성을 판단하고자 할 경우 파이핑 현상발생 여부를 검토한다. 제체나 댐체는 층 다짐을 수행하면서 축조되므로 투수성은 수평방향 투수계수($k_x$)와 연직방향 투수계수($k_y$)가 서로 다른 이방성이 될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 여러 가지 투수계수 비(k-ratio=$k_y/k_x$k)에 따른 침투해석을 수행하여 유출동수경사와 침투유속을 파악하고, 이론식에 의한 한계동수경사와 경험식에 의한 한계유속과 각각 비교.검토하여 파이핑에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 연구결과 투수계수 비는 한계동수경사 개념으로 파이핑 현상발생에 대한 안정성을 검토할 경우 매우 중요한 요소로 작용하나, 한계유속 개념에 대해서는 상대적으로 중요도가 매우 낮은 것으로 확인되었다.

매립지 토양층의 수리경사와 주 흐름 방향의 변동특성 (Variation Characteristics of Hydraulic Gradient and Major Flow Direction in the Landfill Soils)

  • Hydraulic gradient of the landfill soils is estimated by Devlin (2003) method, and its variation characteristics from rainfall and permeability of the aquifer material are analyzed. The study site of 18 m $\times$ 12 m is located in front of the Environment Research Center at the Pukyong National University, and core logging, slug/bail test and groundwater monitoring was performed. The sluglbail tests were performed in 9 wells (except BH9 well), and drawdown data with elapsed time for bail tests were analyzed using Bouwer-Rice and Hvorslev methods. The average hydraulic conductivity estimated in each of the test wells was ranged $1.991{\times}10^{-7}{\sim}4.714{\times}10^{-6}m/sec$, and the average hydraulic conductivity in the study site was estimated $2.376{\times}10^{-6}m/sec$ for arithmetic average, $1.655{\times}10^{-6}m/sec$ for geometric average and $9.366{\times}10^{-7}m/sec$ for harmonic average. The permeability of landfill soils was higher at the east side of the study site than at the west side. Groundwater level in 10 wells was monitored 44 times from October 2 to November 7, 2007. The groundwater level was ranged 1.187$\sim$1.610 m, and the average groundwater level range in each of the well showed 1.256$\sim$1.407 m. The groundwater level was higher at the east side than at the west side of the study site, and this distribution is identify to it of hydraulic conductivity. The hydraulie gradient and the major flow direction for 10 wells were estimated 0.0072$\sim$0.0093 and $81.7618{\sim}88.0836^{\circ}$, respectively. Also, the hydraulic gradient and the major flow direction for 9 wells were estimated 0.0102$\sim$0.0124 and $84.6822{\sim}89.1174^{\circ}$, respectively. The hydraulic gradient of the study site increased from rainfall (83.5 mm) on October 7, causing by that the groundwater level of the site with high permeability was higher. The hydraulic gradient estimated on and after October 16 was stable, due to almost no rainfall. Thus, it was confirmed that the variation of the hydraulic gradient in the landfill soils was controlled by the rainfall.

제강슬래그의 투수성 연구 (A Study for Permiability of Steel Slag)

  • This study was carried out to analyze permeability of steel slag. Three molds with the same grading of raw steel slag were used to measure the coefficient of permeability. Darcy's law could be applied to the steel slag below 0.5 of critical hydraulic gradient because the water flow changed from laminar flow to turbulent flow above the critical hydraulic gradient. Also, the velocity of flow changed according to hydraulic gradient. The coefficient of permeability of the specimen was $\alpha$$\times$10$^{-3}$ cm/ sec.
