초기재령 콘크리트의 응결특성 모델링 (Modeling of the Setting Characteristics of Early-age Concrete)

  • The so called setting is defined as the onset of rigidity in fresh concrete. In the analysis of the early-age concrete behavior, we consider fresh concrete as a structural element immediately after mixing. But for the activation of real structural behavior of fresh concrete, it takes some time after the beginning of hydration reaction. So, the very early age deformations due to hydration heat and shrinkage which occur before the setting do not produce restraint stresses. In this paper, we propose a setting characteristic model based on the so called percolation theory. From the analysis using the model, the influence of curing temperature is investigated and analytical results are compared with experimental results. From the comparison, the validity of proposed model is verified. This model is also applied to evaluate stress development in a temperature-stress test machine (TSTM) specimen and then the effect of setting time on the stress development is discussed.

  • The concrete which has placed under cold weather has some defects such as the decrease of initial strength by hydration delay, strength unrecover at unhardened concrete freezing and structural failure and crack by expansion pressure. So, in this study, we tried to develope the concrete which can be made under cold weather without defect by using of do-icing agency In concrete test, the used do-icing agency has the characteristics of de-icing and rapid hydration. By test results, Co{$NH_{2}$$]_{2}$is unsuitable for workability, and NaN$O_{2}$ is the most suitable agency for cold weather. And for curing, the cured concrete at $21^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours has the safe strength.

  • In this Paper, concrete durability, coefficient variation of compressive strength, and hydration heat development characteristics of concrete using different types binder for 2nd Phase Construction in IIA were investigated. The experimental results show that the coefficient variation of compressive strength decreased with the slag cement when compared with the replacement of granulated blast furnace slag powder. And the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion decreased with use of a blended cement when compared with using a only portland cement. Also the type of low heat cement is very suitable to reduce the thermal crack caused by hydration heat development.

  • The Yang Pyeong bridge is high the occurred possibility of temperature crack by means of hydration Heat when the foundation of is constructed. Therefore, a pipe-cooling method was applied for reducing the temperature crack. Using the measured temperature curve when construction was carried out, the measured value and different facts were analyzed. In this paper, cause and analysis with respect to a mentioned above is to discuss firstly, and thermal characteristics of concrete and construction method hereafter is also discussed.

  • In this study, for the evaluation of field application of low heat concrete using high volume mineral admixture, the characteristics of hydration heat generation and engineering properties of low heat concrete was investigated by mock-up test according to the replacement ratio of mineral admixture. Also, it was evaluated the compressive strength of low heat concrete with curing temperatures and ages for effective concrete mix design considering seasonal change.

  • The selection of Cement types is greatly dependent on the structural requirement and consturction location associated with control of hydration heat, acquisition of early strength, existence of sulfate attacks and so on. Based on this, this study adresses the comparison of physical properties of concrete according to the use of different cement types. As a result of testing with OPC, blast furnace slag and low heat cement, it is found that concrete made with low heat cement is much better in term of hydration heat and permeability. It is also recommended to select a preper cement type depending on structural characteristics.

  • In previous study, researchers studied development of early anti-freezing cement at low temperature (-5℃) using hydration characteristics of reduction slag. In this study, the durability of concrete using reduction slag was conducted. The experiment result, reduction slag makes high temperature and improves compressive strength due to quick setting. And then result of durability show that it is no problem. However, it is considered that further study is needed about high shrinkages which was indicated in dry shrinkage.

The Importance of Thermodynamic Quantities for the Determination of the Unknown Conformation: Ab initio Studies of$ K^+(H_2O)_3$

  • The structures, the energetics, and the spectra of K+(H2O)3 have been studied at HF and MP2 levels with the basis set of triple-zeta plus two sets of polarization functions (TZ2P) for water molecules. Two structures considered are 3+0 (D3), and 2+1 (C2v). The 2+1 (C2v) has two hydrogen bonds between the primary hydration and the secondary hydration shell water molecules. They have similar binding energy and enthalpy. The most stable conformation of K+(H2O)3 is entropy driven as shown in Na+(H2O)5 and in Na+(H2O)6 cases. The 3+0 (D3) conformation is the most stable at 298 K and at 1 atm, based on Gibbs free energy changes (ΔGr). The thermal contributions to the enthalpy and the Gibbs free energy are corrected for the low frequency modes. The corrected ΔGr is in good agreement with the experimental value. Vibrational frequencies of two conformations are revealed as their characteristics.

An Exploratory Research on PCC Application of Crystalline Limestone: Effects of Limestone Crystallographic Characteristicson Hydraulic Activity

  • Quicklime(CaO) is generally obtained through the calcination of limestone, the main component of which is calcium carbonate($CaCO_3$). Quicklime generates high-temperature heat when reacting with water, forming slaked lime($Ca(OH)_2$). The industrial sectors for limestone are determined by the hydraulic activity of slaked lime, which is obtained by measuring temperature changes during the hydration reaction. Accordingly, this study examined the different crystallographic characteristics of limestone as affected by the geological origins of the regions where the limestones were produced, and how these characteristics affected hydraulic activity. Six limestone samples were collected from the Jecheon and Cheongsong areas and the hydraulic activities were measured in accordance with KS E 3077. The results indicate that limestone produced in the Cheongsong area, recrystallized through metamorphism caused by hydrothermal alteration, hada larger grain size of calcite than that of the Jecheon area, and displays a tendency of changing to marble. Limestone from the Cheonsong area showed more radical reaction in the early stage of hydration compared to that ofthe Jecheon area. In addition, it was revealed that limestone having more impurities like $SiO_2$ have lower hydraulic activity.
