A Novel Hybrid Balun Circuit for 2.4 GHz Low-Power Fully-differential CMOS RF Direct Conversion Receiver (2.4 GHz 저전력 차동 직접 변환 CMOS RF 수신기를 위한 새로운 하이브리드 발룬 회로)

  • A low-power, low-noise, highly-linear hybrid balun circuit is proposed for 2.4-GHz fully differential CMOS direct conversion receivers. The hybrid balun is composed of a passive transformer and loss-compensating auxiliary amplifiers. Design issues regarding the optimal signal splitting and coupling between the transformer and compensating amplifiers are discussed. Implemented in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process, the 2.4 GHz hybrid balun achieves 2.8 dB higher gain and 1.9 dB lower noise figure than its passive counterpart and +23 dBm of IIP3 only at a current consumption of 0.67 mA from 1.2 V supply. It is also examined that the hybrid balun can remarkably lower the total noise figure of a 2.4 GHz fully differential RF receiver only at a cost of 0.82 mW additional power dissipation.

A Study on the Effect of Process Variation on the Performance of Hybrid MOSFET-CNTFET based SRAM (공정 편차가 하이브리드 MOSFET-CNTFET 기반 SRAM의 성능에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구)

  • CNTFET, which is receiving high attention as a next-generation semiconductor candidate due to its higher performance and various utilization than traditional silicon-based semiconductor devices, is having difficulty in commercialization because its unique process deviation such as CNT placement has not yet matured. To overcome this difficulty, numerous studies have been continuously conducted to take advantages of CNTFET and compensate its weakness by implementing circuits, which are less affected by process deviation due to repetitive circuit placement, into MOSFET-CNTFET based hybrid circuits. This paper compares how much the performance of the hybrid SRAM can be changed by semiconductor process variation existing in the traditional MOSFET SRAM or CNTFET SRAM. Simulation results show that, if the CNT density can be maintained between 7 and 9 per 32nm, hybrid SRAM is about 2.6 times and about 1.1 times more robust to process deviation than conventional MOSFET SRAM in read and write operations, respectively.

  • Robust control for feedback control system is needed according to the highest precision of industrial automation. However, when a neural network feedback control system has an effect of disturbance, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of control system. As a compensation method solving this problem, in this paper, hybrid control method of neural network controller and PID controller is presented. A neural network controller is operated as a main controller, a PID controller is a assistant controller which operates only when some undesirable phenomena occur, e.q., when the error hit the boundary of constraint set. The robust control function of neural network-PID hybrid controller is demonstrated by speed control of Motor.

Forage Productivity of Job′s Tears, Adlay, Corn and Sorghum-sudangrass Hybrid in Southern Part of Korea (남부지방에서 염주, 율무, 옥수수, 수수-수단그래스 교잡종의 사료생산성에 관한 연구)

  • Forage productivity of Job's tears (Coix lachryma-jobi L.) and adlay (C. lachryma-jobi var. mayuen (ROMAN.) STAPF) and a hybrid corn (Kwangog) and sorghum-sudangrass hybrid (Pioneer 988) was compared in the southern part of Korea where black streaked dwarf virus' (BSDV) is prevalent. Emergence of Job's tears and adlay was more delayed compared to a corn or sorghum-sudangrass hybrid under the drought field conditions. Early growth and regrowth of Job's tears and adlay were less than those of sorghum-sudangrass hybrid. Fresh weight, dry weight, and digestible dry matter of Job's tears and adlay cut once approximately 40 days after flowering were much higher than those of two cuts at every flowering stage. Dry weight of one-cut Job's tears and ad lay harvested 40 days after flowering was similar to the total dry weight of three-cut sorghum-sudangrass hybrid but higher than that of silage corn. Digestible dry matter production was greater in the order of sorghum-sudangrass, corn, one-cut and two-cut Job's tears and adlay. Corn was severely infected with BSDV, but digestible dry matter was relatively high due to its higher in vitro dry matter digestibility. Among the Job's tears and adlay varieties, a variety of Job's tears with globular fruit shape was best for forage production due to its taller plant height, thick stem, wider leaf blades, higher leaf blade/total dry weight ratio, and higher forage yield. However, hulled grain yield of ad lay varieties was higher than that of Job's tears due to a higher hulled/rough grain ratio although they had similar rough grain yields.

  • A static var compensator using hybrid cascade 5-level PWM inverter is presented for high voltage/high power applications. The proposed system is modelled by circuit DQ transformation, and thus an equivalent circuit is obtained which reveals the important characteristics of the system and lead to the related equations. The proposed system has advantages of hybrid structure which enhances the better utilization of power semiconductor switches, that is, both high power-low frequency switch, GTO and low power-high frequency switch, IGBT can be used in the same circuit. In this paper, circuit structure and characteristics is presented and the validity of the characteristics analysis is shown through PSIM simulation.

  • The conventional PLL(phase locked loop) frequency synthesizer takes a long switching time because of the inherent closed-loop structure. The digital hybrid PLL(DH-PLL) which includes the open-loop structure into the conventional PLL synthesizer has been studied to overcome this demerit. It operates in high speed, but the hardware complexity and power consumption are the serious problem because the DLT(digital look-up table) is usually implemented by the ROM which contains the transfer characteristic of VCO(voltage controlled oscillator). This paper proposes a new DH-PLL using a very simple DLT-replacement digital logic instead of the complex ROM-type DLT. Also, a timing synchronization circuit for the very small over-shoot and shorter settling time is designed for the ultra fast switching speed at every frequency synthesis. The hardware complexity gets decreased to about $28\%,$ as compared with the conventional DH-PLL. The high speed switching characteristic of the frequency synthesis process can be verified by the computer simulation and the circuit implementation.

A STUDY ON THE FORMATION OF SHEAR BONDING STRENGTH AND HYBRID LAYER ACCORDING TO THE APPLICATION TIME AND FREQUENCY OF AN ALL-IN-ONE SYSTEM IN PRIMARY TEETH. (유치에서 All-In-One system의 적용 시간과 적용 횟수에 따른 전단 결합 강도 및 혼성층 형성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the patterns of hybrid layer according to the application time and the frequency and its effects on the shear bonding strength of All-In-One system in primary teeth. A single bonding agent(Scotchbond Multi-Purpose Plus, 3M) and an All-In-One system(Prompt L-pop, 3M ESPE) were applied on the dentin varying the application time and the frequency in primary teeth. Shear bond strength was measured and the patterns of hybrid layers were observed by SEM. The following results were obtained ; 1. The shear bonding strength of single bonding agent was significantly higher than that of All-In-One system(P<0.05). 2. The shear bonding strength of All-In-One system applied twice or 3 times were higher than that of applied once (P<0.05). And thickness of the hybrid layer was increased when applied twice or 3 times compared to once. 3. The shear bonding strength of All-In-One system when applied for 15 second and 30 second were higher than that of 7 second (P<0.05). And the hybrid layer thickness of 15 second and 30 second's application time were higher than that of 7 second. 4. Thickness of hybrid layer applied with single bonding agent was $2-4{\mu}m$ and that of All-In-One system was $1-2{\mu}m$.

  • In this paper, broadband balanced amplifier has been realized with Three-Arm Branch $90^{\circ}$ Hybrid Coupler at center frequency 2GHz. $90^{\circ}$ Hybrid Branch-Line Coupler has been compared with Three-Arm Branch $90^{\circ}$ Hybrid Coupler. The bandwidth VSWR and gain or proposed amplifier have been 480MHz, 1.06 and 15.47dB, respectively.

  • The direct conversion method is classified into the structure using the mixing technology and six-port scheme. In the view point of complexity and integration the direct conversion method using the six-port scheme is superior to that with mixing technology. Expecially, the six-port direct conversion technology provides the low power consumption and the broad-band characteristic. In this paper, the six-port direct conversion receiver with the branch-line coupler and the ring hybrid coupler is desisted respectively. The performances of the designed six-port schemes are analyzed and the six-port scheme with superior performance characteristics is proposed.
