중년기 가계의 노후준비에 영향을 미치는 요인 : 인적자본 투자의 영향을 중심으로 (Factors Affecting Middle-aged Households' Financial Preparation for Retirement : Focus on Human Capital Investment for Children)

  • The aims of this study were to analyze middle-aged households' financial preparation for retirement. Specifically, this study surveyed the relation between human capital investment for children and the middle-aged households' financial preparation for retirement and investigated factors influencing financial preparation for retirement. Data were obtained from the 3rd Korean Retirement and Income Study (KReIS) in 2009, and a sample of 757 households was selected. The statistical methods were frequency, percentile, mean, standard deviation, ${\chi}^2$, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and logistic regression analysis. The findings of this study are as follows. First, the percentile of preparation for living costs for old age was 49.9% for the middle-aged households. In terms of the types of preparation for living costs for old age, the results showed 61.6% of personal preparation, 33.9% of pension system, and 1.3% for children and relatives. In relation to the adequacy of the preparations for living costs for old age, preparations made by 57.4% of the middle-aged households were inadequate. Observing the minimum living costs for old age and adequate living costs after retirement for single and couple, the minimum living costs of the middle-aged households was 1.46 million won for couple and 0.91 million won for single. The adequate living costs for old age was 2.07 million won for couple and 1.34 million won for single. Second, there were 757 households with total education expenditure. Of these, 208 incurred annual expenditure on public education, and the annual expenditure for public education was 7.28 million won. There were 170 households with annual expenditure for private education, and the annual expenditure for private education was 2.50 million won. 243 households of middle-aged households had annual expenditure for human capital investment, including both public and private education, with annual expenditure for human capital investment for children of 7.82 million won. Furthermore, in the human capital investment factor, there was a difference in the middle-aged households' financial preparation for retirement according to their annual expenditure for human capital investment including both public and private education. In addition, there was a difference in financial preparation for retirement based on their public education expenditure. Third, in the logistic regression model 1, which included human capital investment, the significant variables affecting the preparation for retirement of the middle-aged households were as follows : annual household income, total amount of annual household income, experience of inadequate living costs, existence of financial assets, total amount of annual household savings, financial independence, adequate living costs (for single) for old age, and human capital investment. In the logistic regression model 2, which included annual expenditure for public education and annual expenditure for private education, the significant variables affecting the preparation for retirement of the middle-aged households were as follows : annual household income, total amount of annual household income, experience of inadequate living costs, existence of financial assets, total amount of annual household savings, financial independence, adequate living costs (for single) for old age, and annual expenditure for public education.

위계선형모형을 이용한 인적자본의 외부효과 분석 (An Analysis on Human Capital Externalities Using Hierarchical Linear Model)

  • 지식기반사회로 진전됨에 따라 경제성장의 원동력으로서 인적자본(human capital)의 중요성이 부각되면서 인적자본의 외부효과에 대한 관심이 매우 높아지고 있다. 본 연구는 근로자의 임금에 영향을 주는 결정요인을 개인 수준, 기업 수준, 지역 수준별로 위계선형모형을 구축하여 인적자본의 외부효과를 분석하는데 목적을 두었다. 또한 지식확산의 강도가 학력그룹별로 다를 것이라는 가설 하에서 고학력자 그룹과 저학력자 그룹의 인적자본의 외부효과를 비교하였다. 3단계 위계선형모형 추정 결과 지역의 평균 교육수준이 1년 증가할 때 근로자의 평균 임금이 4.4% 상승하는 것으로 나타나, 인적자본의 외부효과가 있음을 말해준다. 이러한 인적자본의 외부효과는 학력수준 집단별로 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 학력수준을 고졸 이하와 전문 일반대 졸업, 그리고 석 박사 졸업으로 그룹화하여 인적자본의 외부효과를 산출한 결과 각각 3.0%, 4.7%, 11.8%로 나타나, 고학력으로 갈수록 인적자본의 외부효과가 더 크게 나타나고 있다. 이와 같이 학력 수준별 인적자본의 외부효과가 상이하게 나타나며, 고학력으로 갈수록 외부효과가 더 커지고 있다는 점을 고려해 볼 때 지방의 경쟁력을 살리기 위해서는 인적자본의 외부효과를 높일 수 있는 방안을 적극적으로 모색하여야 할 것이다.

중소병원 간호조직의 지적자본이 조직성과에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Intellectual Capital on Organizational Performance of Nurses in Medium and Small Hospitals)

  • Purpose: This study was a descriptive study conducted to investigate the effects of intellectual capital on organizational performance of nurses in medium and small hospitals. Methods: Data were collected from 241 nurses working in medium and/or small hospitals located in G City from August 10 to September 17, 2011. The measurement tools were the Intellectual Capital scale and Organizational Performance scale. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical regression with SPSS WIN 18.0 PC. Results: Intellectual capital composed of human, customer, and structure capital had significant effects on organizational performance of nurses working in medium and small hospitals and explained 50.4% of the variance. Conclusion: In order to promote organizational performance of nurses, nursing managers and administrators need to invest more resources into the intellectual capital of the system including human, customer, and structure capital.

총체적 인적자본형성의 경제성장에 대한 기여도 분석

  • The Purpose of this study is to analyze the contribution of the total human capital formation to economic growth in Korea. In order to assess the contribution of the total human capital formation to economic growth, aggregate production functions are estimated using two ways of ordinary least squares and polynomial distributed lags based on 1955 - 1988 time series data in Korea. The total amount of investment in human capital is calculated by adding each amount of investment in formal education, vocational training, inter-provincial migration, and health in pecuniary terms. The findings of this study could be summarized as follows ; (1) If we enumerate the variables in good order according to the importance, we get the following ; namely, total number of labor force, inter-provincial migration, vocational training, health, physical capital, and formal education. (2) The contribution of the human capital to economic growth is much more larger than that of physical capital. In particular, it appears that inter-provincial migration and vocational training make a great contribution to economic growth. (3) It appears that investment in formal education has a continuous effect for fifteen years and maximum effect is observed approximately eight years later. In the case of vocational training, the effect of investment lasts for about 12-14 years and its effect on economic growth reaches maximum with the passage of seven to eight years after initial investment. (4) Investment in vocational training contributes more in the long run compared with investment in formal education. The effect of investment in formal education lasts longer than that of vocational training, while the effect of investment in vocational training is considerably larger in the short run compared with the investment in formal education.

  • 공공도서관의 경쟁우위와 지속성 유지를 위한 내적 원동력은 지적자본이다. 지적자본은 내부구성원의 역량, 구성원들이 형성하는 조직구조, 이용자 및 이해관계자의 협력으로 맺어지는 인적자본, 구조자본, 사회자본으로 구성된다. 이 연구의 목적은 지적자본 구성요소인 인적자본, 구조자본, 사회자본에 관한 배경이론을 토대로 공공도서관 지적자본 평가를 위한 기초자료를 제공하고 동시에 실험적 평가모형을 개발하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 지적자본의 배경이론을 토대로 공공도서관의 지적자본의 해석과 평가지표를 도출하였다. 또한 실증적 분석을 통해 지적자본 구성요소와 성과의 인과관계를 밝히고, 최적화된 지적자본 평가모형을 제시하였다.

  • Purpose: This study was done to develop an instrument for measuring intellectual capital and assess its validity and reliability in identifying the components, human capital, structure capital and customer capital of intellectual capital in hospital nursing organizations. Methods: The participants were 950 regular clinical nurses who had worked for over 13 months in 7 medical hospitals including 4 national university hospitals and 3 private university hospitals. The data were collected through a questionnaire survey done from July 2 to August 25, 2009. Data from 906 nurses were used for the final analysis. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha coefficients, item analysis, factor analysis (principal component analysis, Varimax rotation) with the SPSS $PC^+$ 17.0 for Windows program. Results: Developing the instrument for measuring intellectual capital in hospital nursing organizations involved a literature review, development of preliminary items, and verification of validity and reliability. The final instrument was in a self-report form on a 5-point Likert scale. There were 29 items on human capital (5 domains), 21 items on customer capital (4 domains), 26 items on structure capital (4 domains). Conclusion: The results of this study may be useful to assess the levels of intellectual capital of hospital nursing organizations.

The Impact of Intellectual Capital Disclosure on Firm Performance: Empirical Evidence from Pharmaceutical and Chemical Industry of Bangladesh

  • The main purpose of this study is to examine the impact of intellectual capital disclosure (ICD) on firm performance in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry of Bangladesh. In this study, 21 listed pharmaceutical and chemical companies have been selected as sample for 2016 and 2017. This study used the intellectual capital disclosure index developed by Rahman, Sobhan, and Islam. Return on assets and return on equity have been used as the proxy variable of firm performance. In this study, content analysis is performed to assess the level of disclosure regarding intellectual capital and pooled cross-sectional analysis is used to assess the relationship between ICD and firm performance. The study has found a positive and significant relationship between ICD and firm performance. Besides, an in-depth analysis of this study shows that all the components of ICD namely internal capital disclosure, external capital disclosure, and human capital disclosure are also positively and significantly associated with firm performance. The study suggests the development of an intellectual capital disclosure framework by the regulatory authority for mandatory compliance. This will improve the quality and quantity of ICD in the annual reports. Besides, firms should more emphasize on ICD which will help to improve their performance.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 서울특별시에 소재한 특등급 호텔기업의 인적자본이 신뢰와 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향을 밝히고자 하였다. 또한 신뢰가 인적자본과 조직시민행동에 미치는 매개효과를 밝히고자 하였다. 연구의 결과 인적자본이 신뢰와 조직시민행동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 신뢰가 인적자본과 조직시민행동에 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 치열한 경쟁환경 하에 경쟁우위를 위해서 호텔산업의 인적자원관리와 조직관리 측면에 인적자본의 중요성, 신뢰의 중요성을 강조하는 관리시스템 구축의 필요성을 강조하는 결과라고 할 수 있다.

The Role of Training and Absorptive Capacity in Mediating Human Capital Dimensions and Organizational Performance: Evidence from Pakistan

  • This study aims to examine the role of training and absorptive capacity as a mediator to examine the impact of human capital dimensions on the performance of an organization. This study employs the quantitative approach for analysis. A sample of 208 respondents was collected from the textile factories based in Karachi and Faisalabad. Data was analyzed using the PLS-SEM technique. PLS-SEM algorithm was used to check the validity and reliability of the data. PLS-SEM bootstrapping was used for studying the impact. The results show that the skills have an insignificant impact on organizational performance. Education and skills have an insignificant indirect impact on the performance of an organization. The research findings show that the human capital dimensions are full and partially mediated via absorptive capacity and training. The findings revealed that if we implement one by one dimension of human capital then it will not cause any increase in the organization's performance but if we implement all dimensions then it results in optimal performance. Thus, this study suggests adopting effective training techniques and creating absorptive capacity in an organization to increase the performance of an organization. The findings of this study significantly contribute to the existing body of knowledge.

Operational Resilience and Human Capital Toward Corporate Sustainable Longevity in Indonesian "Jamu" Industry

  • Corporate longevity is an interesting issue from a theoretical point of view. In today's uncertain economic climate, the first priority for a company is survival. The longevity of an organization is basically one of the areas that can classify the sustainability of a company. Known as the cultural heritage of Indonesia, the traditional herbal medicine industry faces challenges of longevity. The word Jamu is a generic expression for traditional herbal medicine in Indonesia. The Jamu industry as Indonesia's cultural heritage must be preserved with good support from a technical, regulatory, and commercial perspective so that Jamu companies do not go into the decline stage. Operational resilience is usually defined as the ability of an organization to adapt rapidly to changing environments. This study aims to identify the effect of operational resilience and human capital on corporate sustainable longevity through innovation performance. The questions are addressed through empirical research of 108 small companies that produce Jamu, traditional herbal medicine in Java, Indonesia. This study was conducted during July-September 2020. Data analysis is carried out with SEM-PLS using SmartPLS software version 3.0 to evaluate the data collected. The results indicated that operational resilience influences corporate sustainable longevity directly and indirectly through innovation performance. However, human capital could not play the antecedent role to corporate sustainable longevity directly or even indirectly through innovation performance. Human capital indicators require deeper exposure in the context of small industries.
