Background: The consequences of disordered breathing patterns are not only distressing to the patient but also expensive to our health care systems if they are not diagnosed and treated. So we performed this study to investigate clinical significants trough gigong, yoga and hyperventilation in oriental medicine and westen medicine Objective: To review the relationship of electrogastrography with autonomic nervous system and to study its clinical application. Method: We investigate the research results through internet search engine, Pubmed. Conclusion: Electrogastrography is a reliable, non-invasive method for recording gastric myoelectrical activity and is used for objectification of diagnosis related to gastric peristalsis. Gastric myoelectrical activity seem to involve autonomic nervous system, especially parasympathetic nervous system. The study should be continuing about relationship between electrogastrography and autonomic nervous system.

Oryza sativa cv. Mihyangbyo is one of several recently developed varieties of rice; characterized by high levels of aromatic components, which may increase its sensory and nutritional properties. In conjunction with our continuing investigation of bioactive components of improved grain varieties, a quinolone alkaloid was isolated from the n-butanol soluble fraction of the aleurone layer of Oryza sativa cv. Mihyangbyo (Gramineae) through activity-guided fractionation and isolation. The compound exhibited moderate antineoplastic activity in a human leukemia cell line (U937) with an $IC_{50}$/ value of 118.1 ug/mL, based on the MTT(3-[4, 5]dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) cell proliferation assay. The chemical structure of the functional compound was determined, based on physical and spectroscopic characteristics.

Recognizing human activities from image sequences is an active area of research in computer vision. Most of the previous work on activity recognition focuses on recognition from a single view and ignores the issue of view invariance. In this paper, we present an independent Gabor features (IGFs) method comes from the derivation of independent Gabor features in the feature extraction stage. The Gabor transformed human image exhibit strong characteristics of spatial locality, scale and orientation selectivity.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relational between elderly women＇s sex-role attitude and their marital satisfaction. For this purpose, a questionnaire was surveyed 186 elderly women living in Kwangiu and Chonnam. The collected data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, ANOVA and stepwise regression analysis. The results of this research were as follows ; First The total points of the elderly women＇s sex-role attitude score was 16.4, which was represented mixed trends of traditional and modem. And the total points of the elderly women＇s marital satisfaction score was 31.6, which was higher than the median 30. Second, Elderly women＇s sex-role attitude score was meaningfully different according to education level, health state, economic state. And elderly women＇s marital satisfaction score was meaningfully different according to social activity, economic state, health state, education level, age. Third, As the results of regression analysis, it was shown that the highest influencing variable on their marital satisfaction was the social activity, economic state, education level. All of them explained 19% of their marital satisfaction. (Korean J Human Ecology 1(2):48-60, 1998)

The covalent conjugation of human recombinant superoxide dismutase (hrSOD) with trichloros-triazine activated polyethylene glycol (PEG) 5000 formed soluble conjugates with molecular weight of 92KD, which retained $90{\sim}98%$ of original activity with a markedly prolonged plasma half-life of enzyme activity. The effect of hrSOD-PEG conjugates on acetaminophen (ACP)-induced hepatotoxicity was tested in male rats which were pretreated with 3-methylcholanthrene. HrSOD-PEG conjugates inhibited the hepatotoxicity produced by ACP, on the other hand, native hrSOD had no protective effect. The above results indicated that oxygen radicals might participate in the mechanism of the ACP-induced hepatotoxicity and that polymer conjugated-protein drugs with prolonged half-lives could be employed as an effective therapeutic agent.

Here we report the cytotoxic activity of three known compounds isolated for the first time from Corydalis pallida (Papaveraceae). An isoquinoline alkaloid, berberine, exhibited cytototoxic activity against two human cancer cell lines, HT-1080 (human fibrosarcoma) and SNU-638 (human stomach adenocarcinoma), with $IC_{50}$ values of 3.2 and 3.4 $\mu$g/mL, respectively. N­trans-feruloyltyramine and N-trans-feruloylmethoxytyramine were also isolated from this plant but were inactive.

An SADT-based methodology is presented for systematically analyzing the container working process in container terminal, as well as an object-oriented design method for an integrated information system for container terminal resource planning and management. Our design architecture is composed of four levels, activity interface, activity PDCA control, human resource management, and facility resource management. Especially, the consideration of the human resource management level makes it possible to support cooperative tasks, to make the authority and responsibility on a task clear, and to extremely promote the balance between human and facility resources. Finally, The system architecture is suggested for Virtual Container Terminal, in which a planned container working process is simulated for previous feasibility check, work orders are transferred to control real devices, and to manage the entire process and related data.

In this study, flexible poly(ethylene-ter-1-hexene-ter-divinylbenzene) was prepared using four types of metallocene catalysts (rac-Et(Ind)₂ZrCl₂, rac-SiMe₂(Ind)₂ZrCl₂, rac-SiMe₂(2-Me-Ind)₂ZrCl₂, (C₅Me₅)TiCl₂[O-2,6-ⁱPr₂(C₆H₃)]) and two types of borate catalysts (trityl tetrakisborate and dimethylanilinium tetrakisborate). The yield, catalytic activity, molecular weight, structure, composition, and thermal properties of the terpolymers prepared using the various catalysts and cocatalyst systems were evaluated. Epoxidation of the terpolymers was successfully performed and this transformation was studied by ¹H NMR and FTIR.

Platelet-activating factor (PAF) acetylhydrolase, which removes the acetyl moiety at the sn-2 position, has been found in human amniotic fluid. We purified this enzyme by ammonium sulfate precipitation, and sequential use of DEAE-Sepharose CL-6B, hydroxyapatite, chelating-Sepharose, and Mono Q column chromatographies. This enzyme exhibited broad pH optima and was unaffected by EDTA. Partially purified enzyme had a molecular weight of approximately 34 kDa on SDS-PAGE. In addition, the enzyme activity was inhibited by either diisopropylfluorophosphate(DFP) or p-bromophenacylbromide (p-BPB), suggesting that this enzyme possesses active serine and histidine residues. The enzyme showed similar activity towards PAF and oxidatively modified phosphatidylcholine, but didn't hydrolyze phosphatidylcholine or phosphatidylethanolamine with a long chain fatty acyl group at sn-2 position.

In the course of a search for antitumor agents, we found that the extract of Curcuma longa was effective in inducing apoptosis or programmed cell death (PCD) in human myeloid leukemia cells (HL-60). Active compounds for PCD were isolated from the hexanic extraction of the rhizome of Curcuma longa. With the several chromatographies, and spectral data, they were identified as ar-turmerone and $\beta-atlantone$. The present results demonstrate that the exposure of human myeloid leukemia HL-60 cells to clinically achievable concentrations of arturmerone (TU) or .$\beta-atlantone$(AT) produced internucleosomal DNA fragmentation of approximately 200 base-pair multiples, and the morphological changes characteristic of cells undergoing apoptosis or PCD. This findings suggest that these agents may exert their antitumoral activity, in part, through induction of apoptosis(PCD).
