Korea is having entered the Ageing Society since 2000 and expected to be the Aged Society by 2019. Proliferation of the nuclear families, attitude shift of supporting the senior people and higher participation of married women in public life as well as the steadily increasing senior population have caused the need for development of the facilities or housings for the senior people. This study is based on the assumption that the congregate housing as one of the options for those senior people who are healthy enough do not need the nursing home. For the questionnaire survey, the preference of 500 Korean pre-senior people on spatial planning elements of units for the senior congregate housing was investigated. The collected data are analysed using SPSS 10.0 for Windows to deduce frequency, percentage, average, Chi-squared test with cross-tabulations. The results of this study were as follows; Most of respondents preferred to the size of 11-15pyung(for single), 21-25pyung(for couple). The type of spatial composition was preferred one-room type(for single), 1-2 bedroom type with kitchen (for couple). And they preferred L/DK type. Also, they preferred furnished units not to bring their own furniture when relocating to the senior congregate housing, which was somewhat different result from previous studies. There were significant differences between preferred spatial planning elements and gender, income, and level of education.
Recently, Seoul residential real estate market showed a big change, especially in 2007. The residential property price in Seoul had been mainly affected by 5 provideces: Kangnam-gu, Seocho-gu, Songpa-gu, Gangdong-gu and Yangchun-gu, but these providences started to show the decrease in price while the other providences ironically showed the opposite direction. Therefore, this project was derived from this phenomenon recognition and the necessity as the new market trend requires. The pre-research was carried out with the point of social-population academic view, but this project provides the analysis on the new market trend by simplifying the complex valuation indexes, originated from the pre-research. In result, the aspects of the change could be categorized into time-manner classification and territorial-manner classification, in cope with the change in the satisfaction degree on the residential environment and the selection tendency of the residential property. Based on the the moving-preferred area criteria, the territorial classification was categorized into 3 areas: 5 providences, which showed the initial decrease in real estate price (area 1), the other Kangnam area (area 2), and Kangbuk area (area 3). The result illustrated the reasonable change in the satisfaction degree on the residential environment and the selection tendency of the residential property. This project was able to reach the following conclusion : Firstly, the housing development planning should be devised by the residential environment, including the view and the natural environment, not by the area. Secondly, the housing development planning in the other Kangnam area (area 2) and Kangbuk area (area 3) should embrace the business function, not the housing development only. Last, the housing development planning in Kangbuk area (area 3) should be able to enhance education and culture function and be connected by various transportation system. This project analyzes the change in the satisfaction degree on the residential environment and the selection tendency of the residential property. Thereafter, this project has the purpose of providing the aid in understanding of the basis of housing development information.

The rural housing is a key element of the rural landscape. The studies on the rural housing have focused on folk housing, but this study focuses on the comtemporary rural housing. The research area is the eight rural settlements on the sea islands of Gyeongnam. This study may provide the base for an understanding Korean rural landscape through the analysis of the rural housing types with special reference to the roofing types and materials. Most roofing types but the flat roofing type belong to the traditional roofing types. Among the combined-style roofing(결합양식지붕) types, the pitched-and-flat roofing(경사-평지붕) type is about ten times more frequent than the pitched-and-pitched roofing(경사-경사지붕) type. The most frequent roofing materials are cement, precoated steel plate(컬러강판), and artificial slate(인조슬레이트). Five typical types of rural housing are derived from the remarkable combinations of roofing types and roofing materials in the research area.

To design senior housing that support residents' health is one of the comtemporary issues in Korea. As elderly people became more healthful and reach, people became interested in the health and health promotion. This trend encouraged this research study. The objectives of this study are: to analyze the middle aged people's opinions and behaviors related to health issues, and to suggest design considerations for senior housing. The survey used questionnaire from 476 residents living in Seoul and Gyeong-Gi area. The analysis used descriptive statistics, one-way anova and t-test. Primary findings are as follows: (1) Most of the respondents considered that their health state is 'good' and mental health is more important than physical health. (2) Many people exercise regularly for the promotion of health at a gym. (3) Results show that social relationship effect on health, and dietary life and walking medical examination account highly. (4) As the respondents are higher income and education level, the health-related behavior is more actively. Moreover the respondents who are women feel a great interest about health issues. These results suggest directions for planning of the senior housing. (1) Planning the space for the health-promoting behavior in the house or support a private gym-not a local facilities-. (2) Service for the information related health issues - medical examination, news of the health issues (3) Support the maintenance a good - social relationship (4) Consideration the space with health-related behavior like walking and dietary-life. The senior housing can reflect the health-related opinions and support health-related behavior of the elderly people.

The research analyzes data on housing(apartments) value and educational level(45$\sim$59 aged) in Seoul. The results of the research show that: since the economic crisis of 1997 out of which Korea was rescued by the IMF, it is evident that the spatial process of increasing residential segregation and the regional differentiation of housing price are inextricably interrelated. Through time-series analysis for the education level by the administrative unit of Dong in Seoul, already in 1990 the residential segregation by the educational groups was observed, it is acknowledged that this residential segregation has been reproduced continuously. The rate of residence of the highly educated groups in an administrative Dong is closely related to the variation of the housing value within the Dongs. The housing value in the period 1997$\sim$2003 has risen sharply in the regions where highly educated groups are spatially concentrated. That of other regions have stagnated or have risen marginally thus, the regional differences of the housing value have greatly increased. The differentiation of housing price reflects the residential segregation.

Purpose: Recent studies have focused on policies aimed at supporting the independence of individuals with disabilities in communities. As part of this initiative, supportive housing, integrated care, and residential spaces offer tailored services based on individual needs and autonomy. The attitudes and knowledge of the administrators supporting supportive housing residents regarding health management can influence the well-being of individuals with disabilities. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the challenges faced by supporting housing workers in enhancing the self-management skills of individuals with disabilities. Methods: In this qualitative study, focus group interviews were conducted in August 2023 with nine administrators working to support housing in Seoul. Qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the interview data. Results: The needs and challenges in enhancing the self-management skills of individuals with disabilities were as follows: (1) the complexity of health management challenges, (2) bidirectional strategies for strengthening health management capabilities, and (3) support for systematic health management. Additionally, eight subthemes were derived. Conclusion: By investigating the difficulties experienced and identifying the necessary support requirements for supportive housing workers, this study seeks to uncover insights and identifies areas for improvement and strategies for health management. This study acknowledges the educational and institutional support necessary to improve the health and quality of life of individuals with disabilities residing in supportive housing.
The purpose of this research was to find out the differences in the moving motivation and life satisfaction of senior cohousing communities between male and female residents in Scandinavia, especially in Sweden and Denmark. Senior cohousing is an attractive housing alternative for the aged 55 and over who looks for sharing one's life with neighbors. The 655 survey questionnaires out of 960 had replied from 14 Seniorbofrellesskaber in Denmark and 11 seniorhus within SABO sector and 8 housing cooperatives initiated by the Seniorgarden Housing Company in Sweden during April to May, 2002. The data were analyzed by SPSS win program, using frequencies, percentiles, cross-tabulations, and Pearson's correlations. The results showed that the senior cohousing residents were generally healthy and age of 70's years old and nearly half lived with a spouse. The male residents lived with a spouse about 2 times more than did the female. The residents had very strong motivation to move into the community and very high life satisfaction. Most aspects of moving motivation were not differed by the sex of the residents. However, male residents were more likely than female to be motivated to move in by becoming a pensioner, while female residents were more likely than male to be motivated by being a widow, looking for safety, or avoiding loneliness. These different motivation to move in by sex become more clear when general characteristics such as age, health status, living with or without a spouse, or country were controlled. Female residents were more likely than male to live' dream life' in the senior cohousing community. The stronger the moving motivation, the higher the life satisfaction in the community.
This study aims to understand the current state of a community project in Seoul and to determine a revitalization plan for community projects of inhabitants initiative. Regarding the research methods, 10 apartments that participated in this activation project in Seoul were selected, 31 residents who participated in community activities were surveyed, and 20 community planners in Seoul were surveyed. The results indicate that community leaders are the most important factor in community programs. community leaders must be able to promote participation and a spirit of service; they must also be capable of managing and implementing programs. To ensure that local community resources are utilized and integrated, it was shown that consultation and human resources are of the highest necessity. Moreover, regarding community education, it was shown that for providing general opportunities and means by which community activities may be implemented, program information and space applications are crucial. Furthermore, financial support and support for public relations activities from the government are necessary. To activate apartment communities, first, community education programs for residents must be provided. Second, a system that facilitates access to and sharing of resources from areas outside the community must be established. Third, financial support should be consistent to support community activities. Finally, the promotion of community vitalization at the government level is necessary.
The purpose of this study was to resolve the issues of inferior housing environment and the population decrease in rural community by improving the environment and attracting urban inhabitants. A simulation on the costs and the local programs was operated from a point of view that Pension Insurance House with Long-term Lease and a plan for the program in connection with local resources should be accompanied to attract urban inhabitants. The study was carried out through mainly documents analysis and specialists' opinions. The simulation results are as follows. Firstly, the pre-existing rural housing development projects have only emphasized the hardware, while underestimated the post-management with operating programs. The software should be underlined when Pension Insurance House is developed. Secondly, as a result of the simulation on construction expenditure and the operating and maintenance cost for 30 years, about 82.3 million Wons are necessary residential expenses for 15 years per unit. Thirdly, in case of MUJU County, it has made the most of its pre-existing institutions. It's medical institutions provide medical care system with health education, facilities related leisure and culture offer recreational programs and the local community center and its program of each town helps new habitants adopt to the rural life. Additionally, the employment project of a local welfare center allow people living in a rural community to continue their careers with their talents and interests through local class programs for a life worth living. Lastly, guide for getting information of rural life, local community gathering and preliminary education should be carried out to reduce expectant tenants' incompatibility and assist them settle down early. The community program expansion is also required at the local government level.

The purpose of this research was to provide the information needed for improving the contents in housing unit of middle school technology and home economic textbook. For this purpose, a survey questionnaire was developed to examine teachers' importance perception of 48 contents in housing unit. A direct survey and an e-mail survey were used to collect data from teachers, and a total number of 233 data were analyzed. Conclusions were summarized as following: 1. Among the 48 contents in housing unit, the average score of teachers' importance perception of the 18 contents on 'interior environment and equipments' was 3.94; the average score of teachers' importance perception of the 15 contents on 'living space plan and use' was 3.78; and the average score of teachers'importance perception of the 15 content on 'housing maintenance and repair' was 3.42. Therefore, the 15 contents on 'housing maintenance and repair' must be revised. 2. Teachers' importance perception of 25 contents, among the 48 contents in housing unit, were significantly differentiated by gender, age, teaching experience, scholastic attainment, subject in charge(technology, home economics, technology and home economics), school type(boys' middle school, girls' middle school, coeducation), and region(city, county). Therefore, the 25 contents, of which importance perception were influenced by teachers' characteristics, must be revised in order to maintain the consistent importance perception. Suggestions were that the team teaching of technology and home economic textbook was more recommendable; that the local situations must be considered in the contents of housing unit and; that the contents of housing unit must be segmented into a minimum unit for the accurate evaluation.
