This study had the purpose of presenting a residential environment solution as a desirable educational environment for middle school students to grow soundly and to achieve proper self-realization while providing basic materials to build up a suitable residential environment by comparing and analyzing what relationships exist between different home backgrounds, residential environments and middle school students' social maturity. This research was conducted from Feb. 11, 2008 to Feb. 13, 2008. The subject of this research was 601 students in 3 middle schools located in Gyunggi-do. The data analyzed used the SPSS 11.5 version. The summary of this study's results is as follows. First, in terms of home background, the higher the parents' educational background and social and economic position, the greater the students' social maturity. Second, in terms of home environment, the more spacious the living space, the better the water and sewage system and rest room, the more convenient the air conditioner and kitchen system, the better the lighting, ventilation, soundproofness, insulation, the less the danger in relation to fire, crime, traffic accidents, disaster, the greater the students' social maturity. Third, in terms of the home environment related to the correlation between the residential environment and social maturity, all areas such as housing facilities, housing structural environment and housing safety showed static correlations and proved that the residential environment has an important influence on social maturity. Accordingly, in order to build up an ideal residential environment, we should make efforts to expand and improve better facilities at home considering privacy, lighting, ventilation, soundproofness, heating etc. and remove unsound factors that obstruct students social maturity and build up clean and safe residential environment with good relations with their neighbors.
The purpose of the study was to analyze the constraints that are normally experienced before moving in the context of the household characteristics of households that had recently moved to newly-built apartments. The data for the analysis was collected through a self-administered questionnaire from July 1, 2008 to August 10, 2008. The sample consisted of 251 households in Ulsan living in an apartment complex who had moved within a year. The data from the sample was analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and analysis of variance with Duncan's multiple range tests. The results are as follows. The constraints were categorized into information gathering, attractive housing characteristics, expectations of residential mobility, housing development and policies, and resources. Overall, the constraints did not have a huge impact on the performance of the residential mobility of the sample households. Resources, however, were the most influential factors among the five constraints followed by attractive housing characteristics, information gathering, etc. The constraints varied based on the demographic characteristics, such as the household size, duration of marriage, age of the household head, and the socio-economic characteristics, such as the education level of the household head, household income, and the number of mobility. As the number of family members increased, the age of the household head went up, or the level of education went down, the constraints on information gathering were affected in terms of performing residential mobility. Households with a middle aged head with a professional occupation were more constrained by the attractive characteristics of the housing. The impact of the resources related constraints was significantly different based on the number of family members, marriage duration, and the household head's age and occupation, and the number of mobility.

Housing is an essential element of human living environments. The type of housing occupancy can vary based on age, family composition, occupation, education level, and economic situation. In this study, we used social survey statistics to investigate the relationship between housing ownership types and individual and societal characteristics. The research findings revealed that apartment residency rates were high across all age groups. Married individuals tended to have higher apartment residency rates compared to unmarried individuals. Additionally, as the number of household members and generations increased, so did the likelihood of apartment residency. Overall, higher income levels and stable employment were associated with a preference for homeownership. However, there was no significant correlation between homeownership and education level or employment status. National and local authorities should focus on housing supply that aligns with the purchasing capacity and characteristics of potential homebuyers.
The major purposes of this study were to analyze main features of US Green Building Council's LEED for Homes rating system and examine residents' satisfaction on their LEED-certified homes and neighborhoods. The first part of this article shows the structure and features of the LEED for Homes rating system and the process to obtain credits of this rating system. The investigation to assess residents' satisfaction targeted LEED certified home residents in Midwest in the United State. The satisfaction was assessed in relation to socio-demographic and housing characteristics. To collect data, a quantitative survey was administered to the residents of LEED-certified homes in Midwest in the US. A total of 605 surveys was sent out and 235 were collected, yielding a 38.8% response rate. Findings revealed that LEED-certified home residents were highly satisfied with their homes and neighborhood although neighborhood satisfaction was lower than housing satisfaction. Residents' income and education were the significant socio-demographic factors that show significant relationships with housing satisfaction. Residents' home ownership, length of residence, housing types were significant housing characteristics on their satisfaction while the levels of LEED certifications (i.e., certified, silver, gold, and platinum) were not significantly related to housing satisfaction. The findings of this study suggest the importance of developing effective strategies for those who are less educated, lower income classes, renters, or multi-attached housing residents for more successful development of LEED-certified homes in the future.
The purpose of this research is to analyze content elements of Housing area in 2013 middle school Technology Home Economics textbooks 1 and 2, total of 22 according to 2009 revised curriculum. The analysis method was content analysis, focusing on contents of main text, tables & figures, reading material, and activity materials by their content elements. This research will contribute in obtaining suggestion for the post curriculum/textbook development and helping teachers to perform a lesson. The results are as follows. First, Housing area included 1 to 4 content elements per each units, from 2 chapters and 6 units. The content elements stated in Home economics curriculum were total of 16 which consists of 'the meaning of housing,' 'housing types,' 'family forms,' 'family life style cycle,' 'life style,' 'neighboring environment,' 'co-living values,' 'air environment,' 'heat environment,' 'light environment,' 'acoustic environment,' 'space division,' 'circulation', 'effective use of space,' and 'sustainable dwelling practice.' All of these components are dealt with in every textbooks. Second, the numbers of content elements provided in each textbooks were the same, however they showed difference in their contextual aspect. Some contents need supplemental material for their lacking content element. Others need proper understanding of the concept because some showed different contents from the appropriate content elements. Third, repetitions in content elements were observed, the contents of 'co-living values' in textbook 1 and 'sustainable dwelling practice' in textbook 2 were similar in terms of eco-friendly housing, co-housing and universal housing. These two content elements should be merged as one next curriculum, or should be stated together in one subunit.
This study was to develop the indicators for understanding social inclusion exclusion of the dwellers living in permanent rental apartment, and to present a important base about priority order of national housing policy for social inclusion. The ultimate purpose of this study was to provide basic information for the development of permanent rental apartment renewal techniques. The first phase of the study was to review of the social inclusion exclusion indicators mentioned in the literature. The indicators of EU (2001, 2006), KIHASA (2005), and Jehoel-Gijsbers & Brooman (2007), which were applied in many studies about social inclusion, or included various items about dwellers' subjective attitudes, were selected to construct the framework for the study. On the basis of 3 kinds of indicators at the above, the dimensions of social inclusion exclusion were categorized as material deprivation and access to social rights in an economicstructural exclusion view, and social participation and cultural normative accommodations in a socio-cultural exclusion view. And then, the domains of social inclusion exclusion were decided as follows: income, employment, education service, housing, health, family networks and social networks. The detail contents of indicators were adopted from the prior studies as many as possible, and the dwellers' subjective attitudes and housing domains were intensified with reference to UN housing rights and the study of "residents' satisfaction of housing facilities living in permanent rental housing". The developed indicators were modified through the advisory committee that consist of the specialists from the various fields of studies. The final indicators that were overlapped or not able to be measured were eliminated, and added, in a housing domain, the standards of convenient facilities, the management condition, safety, location, crime and etc. in the apartment complex, which were required to complement in the advisory committee.

The purpose of this study is to help the understanding of the housing market through the influence of consumer choice attributes and financial policy on home buyer behavior. The key issue in the analysis is to take into account moderate effect of housing investment demand between different types of housing attribute choice and financial policy. The results of the study are as follows. First, convenience, education location, and neighborhood level have a significant effect on the purchase intention of the housing. Second, government policy have no significant influence on the purchase intention of the house. Third, the moderating effects of real estate investment outlook are that the neighbors level and interaction variables have a statistically significant effect on the purchase intention of the house. Since the government's financial policies do not affect the decision to buy a house, in reality, excessive regulation may reduce the quality of housing welfare for the first time home buyers. As a result of this study, the financial policy of the government does not affect the decision of the purchase of the house. In reality, the excessive regulation may reduce the quality of the housing welfare for the first time home buyer. Only an analysis which combines these aspects of consumer's choice can adequately describe and explain the actual change in demand in the residential market.
