  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the curing effect of planar surface heater for concreting in cold weather. Some experiments were conducted to evaluate the temperature history of concrete structures cured with heating sheets. Results are as follows ; (1) The temperature of concrete showed continuously rising trend with the heating by planar surface heater under the cold environmental condition of 3~-12$^{\circ}C$. And after about 24 hours the maximum temperature of concrete was reached at 25~3$0^{\circ}C$. (2) The temperature of slab concrete heated by planar surface heater of 130W/$m^2$ was at least $25^{\circ}C$ higher than that of an exterior air, and the curing performance was much more effective than heating by hot wind machine. (3) Through the curing by planar surface heater for 48 hours, the concrete maturity of about 1.5 times to heating by hot wind machine was acquired.

  • To ensure stability of continuous welded rail in extremely hot weather is important to the railway industry's goal of operational safety and maintenance. Rail temperature has direct influence on track buckling. According to climate condition, distribution of rail temperature is different. In this study, the fluctuation of rail temperature were investigated under the domestic climate condition (air temperature, humidity, insolation, etc)

  • The character of spatial organization in rtaditional house is found through the analysis of field survey and measure of its micro climate in hot weather period of summer. The mean temperature of interior space is higher than outside space of the house. In the point of structural conditions, inside of Choga in caustal and mountain area is cooler than any other houses. In inland area, slate roof house is cooler than Choga. In mountain area, the thermal difference of inside and outside in Kyubjib is higher than Hotjib. In the point of spatial conditions, kitchen is the coolest space and very suitable for spatial organization. Anbang is the hottest space because of its centeral position in the house. In wind condition, mountain area is windy and caustal area is calm. Around the house the rear side of the house is windy and left side is calm.

  • Temperature and weather are all around us, quite literally. Furthermore, temperature and weather not only permeate our atmosphere, constantly affecting our visceral states of warmth and coldness, but they metaphorically permeate our language. People, products, and ideas can all be "hot" or "cold." Given this ubiquity, it is perhaps surprising that relatively little research has systematically examined the influence of temperature on choice and judgment. Temperature-related words such as "hot" and "cold" are often used to describe impulsive and calculated behaviors, respectively. These metaphoric connotations of thermal concepts raise the question as to whether temperature, psychological states and decision making are related to each other, and if so, how. The current research examines these questions and finds support for a relationship. Across one field study and one laboratory experiment, I demonstrate that both hot ambient room temperature (Spa) and hot temperature primes (words) trigger decision outcomes in line with the metaphoric association between hot temperature and impulsivity. In the field study, participants were recruited in hot (40-50 degrees Celsius) and cold (10 degrees Celsius) rooms at a spa. Participants were simply asked to indicate their willingness-to-pay (WTP) for three product categories (travel package, birthday dinner, and cell phone). The results showed that participants in the hot room in comparison to those in the cold room were willing to pay more for the same products. Next, I tested if our results would go beyond ambient temperature and would hold if I were to prime temperature concepts by using a different priming method (i.e., subliminal vs. supraliminal). In line with the previous findings in the spa, participants in the hot priming condition were more likely to choose the wrong answer for the bat and baseball question than those in the cold priming condition. In addition, product type (e.g., pleasure vs. necessity) can moderate the effect of hot temperature on impulsivity. Mood and arousal did not mediate participants' responses. My findings seem to suggest that the effects of temperature on decision outcomes can be attributed to metaphoric associations rather than incidental mood or arousal. The current research applies a novel perspective in understanding the relationship between temperature and judgment and decision making. Also, the results have practical implications for packaging, advertising, merchandising, and pricing of goods and services, as well as for public policy and awareness. One of the most natural implications of my findings would be that retailers would be better off carrying more impulse purchase items on hot days. Furthermore, point-of-purchase promotions encouraging impulse purchase is more likely to be effective in retail environments with higher temperature than with lower temperature. In addition, advertisements and product packages evoking hot temperature associations (e.g., beach, sunshine, summer) might lead consumers to pay higher price for the advertised product than those with cold temperature associations.

  • We investigated the effects of prolonged exposure in hot environmental condition and ingestion of fluid on various physiological variables including plasma glucose, lactate, the rating of perceived exertion (RPE), and heart rate as well as golf putting performance. Six male professional golfers were voluntarily participated in three different putting trials which were separated by seven days of time interval period. Three different putting trials were conducted at either 20℃ or 32℃, or 32℃ + Fluid ingestion. Performing 32℃ + Fluid ingestion trial, all subject ingested sport drink as much as their body mass was decreased. For each experiment, all subjects were undertaken total 48 putting, which separated by four x 12 putting in four different time points (i.e., Rest, 1 hr, 2 hr, and 3 hr). Plasma glucose concentration was significantly decreased with hot ambient condition but it was almost fully recovered by fluid ingestion. Plasma lactate concentration was significantly higher when subjects were exposed in hot environmental condition, and it did not change with fluid ingestion. There was a no different in putting performance and psychological fatigue level (performed by GRID test) at any environmental conditions. The RPE, commonly used for evaluating of physical fatigue level, was significantly dropped by fluid ingestion which indicates lower physical fatigue level. In addition to this, heart rate (HR) was also significantly decreased after fluid ingestion. Based on these results, it was concluded that the ingestion of fluid during prolonged exposure in hot ambient condition decrease the degree of physical fatigue levels and heart rate, which will possibly improve the golf performance when exposed in extreme weather condition in summer.
