  • The integrity and accuracy of the drilling hole are decided by positional error, diameter error, the roundness, the straightness, the cylindericity, size of the burr, the surface roundness and others. Among these parameters, positional error and diameter error have the most important parameters. The diameter error has been widely studied, but there has been little research done about the positional error due to the difficulty of measuring it. The measurement of hole location and diameter would be performed by CMM(Coordinate Measurement Machine). However, the usage of CMM requires much time and cost. In order to overcome the difficulties, we have developed a hole location and diameter error measuring device using machine vision. The developed measurement device attached to a CNC machine can determine hole quality quickly and easily.

  • Multi-Layer Ceramic Circuit(MLCC) in the face of thousands of fine pitch multi hole is processed. However, the fine pitch multi hole has a size of only a few micrometers. Therefore, in order to curtail the measurement time and reduce error, the image processing measurement method is required. So, we proposed an image processing measurement algorithm which is required to accurately measure the fine pitch multi hole. The proposed algorithm gets image of the fine pitch multi hole, extracts object from the image by morphological process, and extracts the parameters of its position and feature by edge detecting process. In addition, we have used the sub-pixel algorithm to improve accuracy. As a result, the proposed algorithm shows 97% test-retest measurement reliability within 2 ${\mu}m$. We found that the algorithm was wellsuited for measuring the fine pitch multi hole.

  • The hydropiercing process gives a lot of advantages to the tube hydroforming such as cost reduction and high productivity. However it has a drawback, the amount of deflection around the hole is bigger than that of conventional die piercing process. The deflection can cause the problem at the assembly process of stamped parts and hydroformed part. Therefore the reduction of deflection is one of the most important issues for hydropiercing process. In this study, the deflection around hydropierced hole was investigated by experiment. As a result of investigation, the amount of deflection is influenced by the internal pressure, the material thickness' and the size of hole. Especially the hole size is most influencing factor on the deflection around the hydropierced hole.

  • The stress of the rotating disc with several types of hole was investigated in detail in this paper. Maximum circumferential stress of rotating disc by changing hole shape with same area, were studied using FEM. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The disc which rotates at high speed is subjected to circumferential stress remarkably. 2. When the number of circular holes in rotating disc is four, stress reduction effect is maximum. 3. When shape of holes in rotating disc is cylindrical elongated hole, maximum circumferential stress of the rotating disc decreased most.

  • In understanding AGN physics, it is fundamental to determine black hole masses. Based on the gas kinematics of the broad-line region, black hole masses can be derived from the product of the width of the broad emission lines and the continuum/line luminosities. For a sample of 37 intermediate-luminosity AGN at z~0.4, we obtained high quality spectra (S/N~100) using the Low Resolution Imaging Spectrometer(LRIS) at the KECK telescope, in order to calibrate various black hole mass estimators based on the Mg II (2798A), the $H{\beta}$ (4861A), and the $H{\alpha}$ (6563$\bar{A}$) emission lines. Based on our multicomponent fitting analysis, we subtract continuum, FeII emission, and host galaxy starlight, reducing systematic errors in measuring emission line widths. Combining low S/N SDSS spectra with our high S/N keck spectra, we determine a set of ~30 black hole masses of the sample for each emission line. Then by comparing various sets of black hole masses, we internally calibrate each mass estimators and investigate uncertainties and limitations of each mass estimator.

  • The constant flow control valve is used to control the flow rate of heating water in the large apartment complex and buildings. It is important to have similar heating flow rate in the apartments, even though the apartment is top or bottom floors. To achieve those purposes, the constant flow control valve was developed. The performance of this control valve is effected by hole area and discharge coefficients of the cartridge holes. The discharge coefficients of orifice hole in the cartridge were testes with various sizes of holes and various flow direction in the holes. The discharge coefficients decreased as the hole size increased due to the collision at the cartridge wall of water jet. The effects of the flow direction at the hole were not significant on the discharge coefficients.

  • Hole mobility characteristics of single surface channel and dual channel Si/SiGe structure are compared, where the former one consists of a relaxed SiGe buffer layer and a tensile strained Si layer on top, and for dual channel structure a compressively strained SiGe layer is inserted between them. Due to the difference of hole mobility enhancement factors of layers between them, hole mobility characteristics with respect to the Si cap thickness shows the opposite tend. Hole mobility increases with thicker Si cap for single channel structure, whereas it decreases with thicker Si cap for dual channel structure.

  • Recently, the trends toward reduction in size and weight of industrial products increased the application of micro hole for manufacturing gadgets of high precision and gave rise to a great deal of interest for micro hole drilling M/C. Quite a few research work is performed on micro drilling on domestic basis compared with the tendency of analyzing cutting mechanism, adaptive control, monitoring of generally available drills of diameter greater than 1mm. This study adresses the design, manufacturing and controlling a micro hole drilling M/C with the overload detection instrument and the step feed mechanism. Controlling and monitoring of the drilling process are acomplished on PC basis for more user interfaces and effectiveness. The test machine of the results of this research shows a good foundation for extending further micro hole machining technique.

  • In a structure, many components are fastened together using bolts, nuts and rivets through drilled holes. Not only do these fastened joints enable easy assembly and dismantling, they are also able to transfer as well as to distribute loads applied onto the structures. The major drawback of such connections, however, is that the fatigue life of the components is reduced by the presence of the hole since the stress concentration around the hole is increased. In addition, the hole drilling process itself may introduce defects or roughness at the surfaces of the hole that may cause further decrease in fatigue performance of the components. For applications where fatigue loadings are important, one way to compensate the decrease in fatigue life of the components is by introduction of beneficial compressive residual stress around the hole using cold working. The material used for this research were A12024-T351 and A17050-T7451 using the primary member of aircraft. We present, In this paper, the characteristics of coldworking by evaluation of the hole expansion ratio, residual stress distribution, and fatigue properties.

  • In the earlier papers we analyzed the axisymmetric, nonstationary electrodynamics of the central black hole and a surrounding thin accretion disk in an active galactic nucleus. In this paper we analyze the axisymmetric, nonstationary electrodynamics of the black hole magnetosphere in a similar way. In the earlier papers we employed the poloidal component of the plasma velocity which is confined only to the radial direction of the cylindrical coordinate system. In this paper we employ a more general poloidal velocity and get the Grad-Shafranov equation of the force-free magnetosphere of a Kerr black hole. The equation is consistent with the previous ones and is more general in many aspects as it should be. We also show in more general approaches that the angular velocity of the magnetic field lines anchored on the accreting matter tends to become close to that of the black hole at the equatorial zone of the hole.
