  • In this paper, instead of conventional color management method that using spectrum analysis, a simplified color management scheme is proposed that is low-cost required method to reproduce the visual color perception of human. Proposed scheme uses computer color scanner to obtain a bit map image from dyed original color sample, and conducts pixel analysis by image histogram. From obtained image histogram, extract the color and RGB value from histogram that shows dominant pixel distribution of the sample image.

  • Text extraction and binarization are the important pre-processing steps for text recognition. The performance of text binarization strongly related to the accuracy of recognition stage. In our proposed method, the first stage based on line detection and shape feature analysis applied to locate the position of a business card and detect the shape from the complex environment. In the second stage, several local regions contained the possible text components are separated based on the projection histogram. In each local region, the pixels grouped into several connected components based on the connected component labeling and projection histogram. Then, classify each connect component into text region and reject the non-text region based on the feature information analysis such as size of connected component and stroke width estimation.

  • There are many weld defects such as surface crack, lack of fusion, and incomplete penetration(IP) in the butt joint weld of the existing steel bridges. The crack-like defects may significantly reduce the life of the structure. This paper presents the procedure and the results of the fatigue life assessment of the butt joints with weld defects in the existing steel girder bridge. The butt joint welds with incomplete penetration were instrumented with strain gages to determine the stress histogram under normal traffic. Based on the measured stress histogram the crack propagation analysis were performed for the fatigue life assessment. By using the suggested procedure and methodology, one can decide the time of periodic inspection and the necessity of repair of the butt joint welds with serious weld defects in the existing steel bridge. • The objective of this study is to explore the meaning generated through discourse in three different types of 1st-grade middle school textbooks in Korea and CMP textbook in the United States, specifically focusing on histograms. Through a discursive perspective, the study aims to analyze the characteristics of questioning within the stages of statistical problem-solving found in histogram tasks. The findings highlight several significant points. Firstly, variations exist in the definitions of histograms between Korean and US CMP textbooks. Secondly, diverse discursive structures contribute to the interpretation and understanding of histograms in textbooks. Thirdly, limitations are observed in the stages of statistical problem-solving reflected in histogram tasks. Lastly, distinctions are identified in the types of questioning employed in histogram tasks between Korean and US CMP textbooks. Building on these insights, the study suggests concrete ideas for enhancing the process of defining histograms and refining the questioning in histogram tasks.

  • There are two problems associated with the existing principal component analysis, which is regarded as the most effective in object recognition technology. First, it brings about an increase in the volume of calculations in proportion to the square of image size. Second, it gives rise to a decrease in accuracy according to illumination changes. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes wavelet transformation and histogram equalization. Wavelet transformation solves the first problem by using the images of low resolution. To solve the second problem the histogram equalization enlarges the contrast of images and widens the distribution of brightness values. The proposed technology improves recognition rate by minimizing the effect of illumination change. It also speeds up the processing and reduces its area by wavelet transformation.

  • Objective: To evaluate whether computed tomography (CT) reconstruction algorithms affect the CT texture features of the liver parenchyma. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study comprised 58 patients (normal liver, n = 34; chronic liver disease [CLD], n = 24) who underwent liver CT scans using a single CT scanner. All CT images were reconstructed using filtered back projection (FBP), hybrid iterative reconstruction (IR) (iDOSE4), and model-based IR (IMR). On arterial phase (AP) and portal venous phase (PVP) CT imaging, quantitative texture analysis of the liver parenchyma using a single-slice region of interest was performed at the level of the hepatic hilum using a filtration-histogram statistic-based method with different filter values. Texture features were compared among the three reconstruction methods and between normal livers and those from CLD patients. Additionally, we evaluated the inter- and intra-observer reliability of the CT texture analysis by calculating intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). Results: IR techniques affect various CT texture features of the liver parenchyma. In particular, model-based IR frequently showed significant differences compared to FBP or hybrid IR on both AP and PVP CT imaging. Significant variation in entropy was observed between the three reconstruction algorithms on PVP imaging (p < 0.05). Comparison between normal livers and those from CLD patients revealed that AP images depend more strongly on the reconstruction method used than PVP images. For both inter- and intra-observer reliability, ICCs were acceptable (> 0.75) for CT imaging without filtration. Conclusion: CT texture features of the liver parenchyma evaluated using the filtration-histogram method were significantly affected by the CT reconstruction algorithm used.

  • Human action recognition has become an important research topic in computer vision area recently due to many applications in the real world, such as video surveillance, video retrieval, video analysis, and human-computer interaction. The goal of this paper is to evaluate descriptors which have recently been used in action recognition, namely Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG) and Histogram of Optical Flow (HOF). This paper also proposes new descriptors to represent the change of points within each part of a human body, caused by actions named as Histogram of Changing Points (HCP) and so-called Average Speed (AS) which measures the average speed of actions. The descriptors are combined to build a strong descriptor to represent human actions by modeling the information about appearance, local motion, and changes on each part of the body, as well as motion speed. The effectiveness of these new descriptors is evaluated in the experiments on KTH and Hollywood datasets.

  • In this study, about the fatigue life of welded structure material under fluctuation loading, the prediction life which is produced by using the Histogram Recorder System was compared with the experimental life which is produced by the RMC model which is imported by conception of equivalent stress. In this result, this is represented few difference by comparing prediction life which is produced by damage analysis depended on Miner's rule, by using the Histogram Recorder System, with experimental life which is produced by the RMC load model which is imported by conception of equivalent of stress, therefore fatigue life is easily predicted by using Histogram Recorder System, and result of prediction has equivalent accuracy with other method which is more complex than the Histogram Recorder System. Besides the damage which is produced by stress which is high thirty percentage rank in the stress range of damage inducing, is nearly equal to the damage which is induced the rest of seventy percentage, there fore we can see that damage accumulation which is induced few time overload which is effected welded structure material is great.

  • An eigen color co-occurrence approach is proposed that exploits the correlation between color channels to identify the degree of image similarity. This method is based on traditional co-occurrence matrix method and histogram equalization. On the purpose of feature extraction, eigen color co-occurrence matrices are computed for extracting the statistical relationships embedded in color images by applying Principal Component Analysis (PCA) on a set of color co-occurrence matrices, which are computed on the histogram equalized images. That eigen space is created with a set of orthogonal axes to gain the essential structures of color co-occurrence matrices, which is used to identify the degree of similarity to classify an input image to be tested for various purposes. In this paper RGB, Gaussian color space are compared with grayscale image in terms of PCA eigen features embedded in histogram equalized co-occurrence features. The experimental results are presented.
