소비자 관점의 통신시장 변화 고찰 (A Review on the Change of Telecommunication Market in Perspective of Customer)

  • This review examines the rapid growth of qualitative and quantitative of telecommunication industry for past couple of years from customer's viewpoint. Most of the telecommunication products were positioned in the market by the businesses and government's support, but the entity of telecommunication products were never interpreted from the user's viewpoint. Even though, various kinds of telecommunication services have been actively discussed by businesses, government, and IT professionals, it has not been sufficiently discussed by the marketing academia where they need to focus a lot on customer's utility. For the purpose of providing an insight of the telecommunication service marketing strategy, this study looked over old and new directions of growth, failure and evolution of services by focusing on two main pillar of communication business, which is high-speed internet and mobile phone service. Additionally, the research explains and mentions the limit and trend of the telecommunication service marketing, and the future research task that needs to be solved.

The Effects of the change in Telecommunication Regulation on Incentive for Network Investment and Innovation - Based on Korean Telecommunications Regulation Changes-

  • This paper analyzes the impact of the change in telecommunication regulation changes including the unification of telecommunication service on network investment. The unification of telecommunication service plays a role of separating behavior regulation from entrance regulation and reducing entrance constraints. Therefore, it is expected that the market spillover effect is high through the improvement of behavior regulation. In addition, the effects of the other regulation changes in the 2010 Telecommunications Business Act revision are analyzed. This paper discusses critical factors affecting the decision making process in respect to the firm level and analyzes the impact path guiding investment and innovation. The key findings are as follows. First, the impact of entrance deregulation depends on the intensity of deregulation. If the intensity is not high, this regulation increases the incentive on investment and innovation. However, if the intensity is high as shown in abolishing of licensing, it affects the incentive negatively. Second, if interconnection regulation focuses on existing facilities or the intensity is not strong, this light handed regulation might increase investment and innovation. However, if interconnection obligation is expanded to the facility not constructed or the facility applying new technology, this regulation might deteriorate investment. Third, price deregulation increases the competition of service but it also increases the business opportunity, which means positive effect on investment. Finally, the paper proposes the guideline for telecommunications policy.

민영화, 경쟁도입 및 경쟁심화가 지각된 이동통신 서비스품질에 미치는 영향에 관한 탐색적 연구 (The Effect of the Privatization and Competitiveness on Perceived Mobile Telecommunication Service Quality)

  • Economists have advocated that the privatization and market competitiveness improve the firm's productivity and eventually its service quality. However, the previous researches did not provide the empirical results enough to prove that the privatization and competitiveness do improve the service quality. In this paper, we conducted an empirical research to find whether the privatization and competition induces the quality of service. The mobile telecommunication industry was chosen since it went through bringing the privatization and increasing the competition along with a high attention. We found that the privatization and competition itself does not guarantee the quality of mobile telecommunication service. It is the intensity of competition that improves the mobile telecommunication service quality. The service quality depends mainly on the competitor's competence, i.e. the intensity of competition rather than the competition itself. In sum, when we want to improve the service quality as well as the productivity, we had better increase the intensity of competition by allowing many new strong entries.

  • This is an exploratory research to examine the high-speed Internet access service's quality There are relatively scanty studies on telecommunication service quality such as the high-speed Internet access service. It has long been considered that service qualify are composed of process quality and outcome quality. Conducting an empirical research, we proposed that traditional outcome quality should be segmented with technical quality and outcome quality. Outcome quality is related to meeting consumer's needs to seek terminal value. In this paper, we explore to diagnose the well-known SERVQUAL's applicability to telecommunication industry and suggest some strategic and practical implications.

한국 이동통신시장에서 휴대폰 서비스품질이 전환장벽에 미치는 영향 분석 (The Effects of Cellular Phone Service Quality to Switching Barrier in Korean Mobile Telecommunication Market)

  • The Korean mobile telecommunication service market is faced with a tremendous competitive period, in which the market is entering into the maturity stage with launching of the 3rd generation service and with introduction of mobile number portability. In general, it is more important to sustain the old customers than to attracting new customers, as the life cycle of an industry is entering the maturity stage in which the growth rate of new customers is decreasing gradually or becoming stagnant. Thus, mobile telecommunication business has to seek a way to maintain the existing customers instead of promoting new customers. So this study investigates whether the service quality of mobile telecommunication could have effects on the switching barrier of the industry. In order to test the hypothesis on the effects of service quality of mobile telecommunication in Korea on switching barrier, this study collected the questionnaire response data of students including middle and high school students and undergraduates, who are regarded as the major customers in that mobile telecommunication industry.

  • ISO 9000 has brought about significant positive effects to the quality management system and quality improvement. This paper develops effective and flexible ISO 9000 quality system based on telecommunication manufactured goods with CSU(Channel Service Unit), ADSL(Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line), Fiber Optic Multiplexer, HDSL(High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line), FDSU(Flexible Data Service Unit), 73 DSU(Digital Service Unit). The case studies of venture telecommunication corporation in establishing ISO 9000 qualify system are also discussed.

소비자의 제품군 혁신성향에 의한 애착형성 구조에 관한 연구: 이동통신 서비스를 중심으로 (Research on Attachment Creating Structure due to Customers' Product Group Innovativeness: -Towards Mobile Telecommunication Service-)

  • 본 연구에서는 소비자가 이동통신 서비스에 애착하게 되는 심리적 구조를 연구하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 제품군 혁신성향은 소비자가 이동통신 서비스를 신뢰하고 긍정적 감정을 갖는데 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 소비자가 이용하는 이동통신 서비스에 대한 신뢰가 높으면 해당 서비스에 대한 감정도 더욱 긍정적으로 나타났다. 셋째, 소비자가 이용하는 이동통신 서비스를 높게 신뢰하면 사랑의 애착이 강하게 나타났지만, 관계의 애착에 유의한 영향을 미치지는 않았다. 넷째, 소비자가 이동통신 서비스에 대해 긍정적 감정을 갖게 되면 사랑의 애착과 관계의 애착이 높았다. 이러한 연구결과들은 소비자의 이동통신 혁신성향이 소비자의 서비스 애착에 영향을 미치는 특성의 하나로 중요하게 고려되어야 함을 의미한다.

  • 본 연구는 정보통신기술의 발달에 의해 정보통신 서비스로 지칭되는 대표적인 기술혁신 중의 하나인 "하이텔 서비스"를 연구대상으로 하였다. 여기서는 광주시의 하이텔 서비스 이용자를 대상으로 하이텔 단말기의 확산과정에 나타난 공간적 특징과 서비스의 이용행태에 나타난 특징을 고찰하였다. 그 결과, 광주시 하이텔 단말기의 확산은 매우 제한적으로 이루어졌고 이용률 또한 매우 저조한 것으로 나타났으며, 이 밖에는 하이텔 서비스 확산을 위한 몇가지의 정책적 자료가 제시되었다.

In the same context, mobile telecommunication business has to seek a way to maintain the existing customers instead of promoting new customers. So this study investigates whether the service quality and switching barrier of mobile telecommunication could have effects on the customer satisfaction and loyalty, which are recognized as an efficient means to sustain the current customers. In order to test the hypothesis on the effects of service quality and switching barrier of mobile telecommunication to customer satisfaction and loyalty in Korean telecommunication industry, this study collected the questionnaire response data of students including middle and high school students and undergraduates, who are regarded as the major customers in that mobile telecommunication industry.

  • Innovation on digital compression technology, high speed networking technology, digital broadcasting technology and distributed processing technology provides new interactive multimedia service that integrates telecommunication, broadcasting, and computer application. To meet the new trends, we focus our research direction to integrate the telecommunication services and the broadcasting services. For this purpose, we designed and implemented an interactive multimedia service platform based on the DAVIC specification. Our research results in the development of integrated interactive services and its experience will be feedback to the field trial service that will be launched from next year. In this paper, we will describe the overall architecture and system implementation results of the interactive multimedia service platform.
