  • This paper presents the characteristic analysis of the 40 kVA high speed synchronous generator considering the power factor. The generator consist of the rotor with the short-circuited field coils connected armature coils of exciter and the stator with three-phase winding. To analyze the characteristics of the generator, the direct finite element method is applied.

Critical Characteristics Estimation of a Large-Scale HTS Wind Turbine Generator Using a Performance Evaluation System

  • Large-scale High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) wind power generators suffer from high electromagnetic force and high torque due to their high current density and low rotational speed. Therefore, the torque and Lorentz force of HTS wind power generators should be carefully investigated. In this paper, we proposed a Performance Evaluation System (PES) to physically test the structural stability of HTS coils with high torque before fabricating the generator. The PES is composed of the part of a pole-pair of the HTS generator for estimating the characteristic of the HTS coil. The 10 MW HTS generator and PES were analyzed using a 3D finite element method software. The performance of the HTS coil was evaluated by comparing the magnetic field distributions, the output power, and torque values of the 10 MW HTS generator and the PES. The magnetic flux densities, output power, and torque values of the HTS coils in the PES were the same as a pole-pair of the 10 MW HTS generator. Therefore, the PES-based evaluation method proposed in this paper can be used to estimate the critical characteristics of the HTS generator under high magnetic field and high torque before manufacturing the HTS wind turbines. These results will be used effectively to research and manufacture large-scale HTS wind turbine generators.

  • Most of X-ray generator had used rectifier type transformer with high tension generator which is supplied in a clinical diagnosis. Because the ripple rate of tube voltage is high, X-ray generating efficiency is very low. In these days, high tension generator for inverter type X-ray generator is being supplied from a broad which uses semi-conductor switching element for the electric power that have a high speed switching ability to solve these problem. But, semi-conductor element with large capacity is used with X-ray tube's large consumption power and diffusion is difficult in the small size hospital because production cost is going up by doing digital control through DSP. Therefore, this paper designed and manufactured CR type voltage divider for feedback control of tube voltage with high frequency resonance type inverter and for high tension transformer with high frequency. It was to make economical diffusion type X-ray generator which has wide output voltage and load extent. It was preyed that the X-ray generator had the stability of X-ray tube's output characteristics.

  • As constantly increasing wind power penetrates power grid, wind power plants (WPPs) are exerting a direct influence on the traditional power system. Most of WPPs are using variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) wind turbines equipped with doubly fed induction generators (DFIGs) due to their high efficiency over other wind turbine generators (WTGs). Therefore, the analysis of DFIG has attracted considerable attention. Precisely measuring optimum reference speed is basis of utilized maximum wind power in electric power generation. If the measurement of wind speed can be easily taken, the reference of rotation speed can be easily calculated by known system's parameters. However, considering the varying wind speed at different locations of blade, the turbulence and tower shadow also increase the difficulty of its measurement. The aim of this study is to design fuzzy controllers to replace the wind speedometer to track the optimum generator speed based on the errors of generator output power and rotation speed in varying wind speed. Besides, this paper proposes the fuzzy adaptive PID control to replace traditional PID control under rated wind speed in variable-pitch wind turbine, which can detect and analyze important aspects, such as unforeseeable conditions, parameters delay and interference in the control process, and conducts online optimal adjustment of PID parameters to fulfill the requirement of variable pitch control system.

  • Klaus Halbach has suggested the novel permanent magnet array using advanced analytical approaches in 1979. We utilize this Halbach array to compose the field system of high speed motor-generator. The ferro-magnetic materials of the electric machines cause the fatal energy loses in high frequency. But Halbach array enables to make the various field distribution without ferro-magnetic materials. Therefore, the energy loses can be reduced. This paper presents the magnetic characterics of Halbach array and the application to the motor-generator.

  • 보안 관련 설계 기술 개발에 대해서는 국내와 국외의 현황이 거의 차이가 나지 않는다. 현재 2048 비트 RSA 처리 모듈이 개발되고 있는 추세이긴 하지만 처리 비트폭이 넓은 이유로 연산 처리 속도가 빠르지 않아 효율적 자원을 소모하면서 고속으로 동작되는 RSA 처리부의 설계가 필요하다. RNG (Random Number Generator) 개발 측면에서는 PRNG (Pseudo Random Number Generator)에서 TRNG (True Random Number Generator)로 바뀌는 추세이며 소면적 고속의 전용 RNG가 요구된다. 칩 레벨 보안 관련해서는 국내외 제조사별로 특허권 침해를 받지 않는 보안 칩 고유의 안전장치를 개발하고 있으며, 독자적인 칩 레벨의 안전장치가 필요하다.

Static VAR Compensator-based Feedback Control Implementation for Self-Excited Induction Generator Terminal Voltage Regulation Driven by Variable-Speed Prime Mover

  • In this paper, the steady-state analysis of the three-phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG) driven by a variable-speed prime mover (VSPM) such as a wind turbine is presented. The steady-state torque-speed characteristics of the VSPM are considered with the three-phase SEIG equivalent circuit for evaluating the operating performances due to the inductive load variations. Furthermore, a PI closed-loop feedback voltage regulation scheme based on the static VAR compensator (SVC) for the three-phase SEIG driven by the VSPM is designed and considered for the wind power generation conditioner. The simulation and experimental results prove the practical effectiveness of the additional SVC with the PI controller-based feedback loop in terms of fast response and high performances.

  • In this paper, The basic design and the steady-state performances of a high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor/generator (PMSMG) for gas-turbine are presented. For deveoping a high-speed machine, it must be taken account into the mechanical view as well as the electrical because of high centrifugal force of a rotor. Based on considering those, this paper deals with the characteristics of generating mode and motoring mode from a electrical point of view.

  • 통신회로에서 많이 사용되는 PLL 방식에 의한 주파수 합성기는 여러 장점이 있지만 위상잡음 특성이 나쁘고 긴 주파수 도약 시간을 갖기 때문에, 최근의 고속(1$\mu\textrm{s}$이하)으로 주파수 호핑(Frequency Hopping)을 요구하는 디지털 통신 시스템에서는 사용이 어렵다. 본 연구는 디지털 영상 패턴 발생기에서 1600hops/s로 600개 이상의 랜덤한 주파수를 발생하는 주파수합성기를 DDS (Direct Digital Synthesis) 방식을 이용하고, CPLD에 의해 구현하였다.
