Analysis of the luminous efficacy improvement in Full HD ac Plasma Display Panel

  • We analyzed the effect of cell resolution on the luminous efficacy through three-dimensional numerical simulation to understand the inherent discharge mechanism change in the plasma display panel. As the resolution increases from VGA to Full HD, the luminous efficacy decreases. With higher Xe content, VUV generation efficacy of Full HD becomes much lower than those of VGA or XGA cells, due to the increased plasma loss and lower electron heating. However a long electrode gap $140{\mu}m$ in Full HD cell with Ne-Xe [20%] results in the high luminous efficacy comparable to that of the XGA cell with $60{\mu}m$ gap. When comparing the effects of Xe content variation on the luminous efficacy of two different subpixel types, i. e., SDE (Segmented electrode in Delta color arrayed, Enclosed subpixel) [1] and conventional stripe barrier type in the XGA and Full HD cells, the luminous efficacy of SDE structure shows higher improvement in Full HD resolution compared with that of conventional type XGA cell, whose cause is identified as the reduced plasma loss.

  • We have introduced fourth generation PDPs last year. The performance of these PDPs is the highest level among TV displays. At the same time the power consumption of them has reached to the lowest level among FPDs (Flat Panel Displays). High panel luminous efficacy and low address power are necessary for the reduction of total power consumption. Following technologies have been developed and applied to the fourth generation PDPs. High panel luminous efficacy: T-shape electrode, waffle rib structure, high Xe content gas Low address power; CLEAR driving method, etc.

  • Main PDP panel efficacy improvement factors are discussed. A large panel efficacy improvement can be obtained through a combination of discharge efficiency improvement and phosphor improvement. Important design elements are a high Xe-content gas mixture, the application of a $TiO_2-layer$, and a new green phosphor with little saturation at high VUV-load. In a 4-inch color test panel with a conventional stripe-type cell configuration a white efficacy of 4.4 lm/W and a luminance of 5000 $cd/m^2$ is obtained for sustaining at 250V in addressed condition.

Micro-discharged plasma density, electron temperature and excited xenon density for enhancement of vacuum ultraviolet luminous efficiency in alternating current plasma display panel

  • The plasma ion density in AC-PDP has shown to be increased from $5.6{\times}10^{11}cm^{-3}$ to $9.0{\times}10^{11)cm^{-3}$ as the Xe mixture ratio to neon increase from 1 % to 10 %, respectively, at fixed pressure of 400 Torr, by using the micro-Langmuir probe. It is noted that the plasma ion density is density increases as the gas pressure increases in this experiment. The electron temperature decreases from 2.3 to 1.2 eV as the Xe mole fraction increases from 1 % to 10 % at fixed pressure of 400 Torr, which is measured by the micro Langmuir probe and high-speed ICCD camera in this experiment. It is noted that the electron temperature decreases as the gas pressure increases from 150 to 400 Torr in this experiment. It is also observed that the exited Xe atom density and the plasma ion density are in strong correlation sharp between each other in this experiment. It is noted that $5.2{\times}10^{12}cm^{-3}$ in the $1s_5$ metastable state and $1.2{\times}10^{12}cm^{-3}$ in the $1s_4$ resonance state for the PDP cell with gap of 50 um distances under the fixed gas pressure of 400 Torr and Xe content ratio of 10 %.

Comparative Genomic Analysis and Rapid Molecular Detection of Xanthomonas euvesicatoria Using Unique ATP-Dependent DNA Helicase recQ, hrpB1, and hrpB2 Genes Isolated from Physalis pubescens in China

  • Ground cherry (Physalis pubescens) is the most prominent species in the Solanaceae family due to its nutritional content, and prospective health advantages. It is grown all over the world, but notably in northern China. In 2019 firstly bacterial leaf spot (BLS) disease was identified on P. pubescens in China that caused by both BLS pathogens Xanthomonas euvesicatoria pv. euvesicatoria resulted in substantial monetary losses. Here, we compared whole genome sequences of X. euvesicatoria to other Xanthomonas species that caused BLS diseases for high similarities and dissimilarities in genomic sequences through average nucleotide identity (ANI) and BLAST comparison. Molecular techniques and phylogenetic trees were adopted to detect X. euvesicatoria on P. pubescens using recQ, hrpB1, and hrpB2 genes for efficient and precise identification. For rapid molecular detection of X. euvesicatoria, loop-mediated isothermal amplification, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and real-time PCR techniques were used. Whole genome comparison results showed that the genome of X. euvesicatoria was more closely relative to X. perforans than X. vesicatoria, and X. gardneri with 98%, 84%, and 86% ANI, respectively. All infected leaves of P. pubescens found positive amplification, and negative controls did not show amplification. The findings of evolutionary history revealed that isolated strains XeC10RQ, XeH9RQ, XeA10RQ, and XeB10RQ that originated from China were closely relative and highly homologous to the X. euvesicatoria. This research provides information to researchers on genomic variation in BLS pathogens, and further molecular evolution and identification of X. euvesicatoria using the unique target recQ gene through advance molecular approaches.

Influence of Temporal Dark Image Sticking Characteristics on Bright Screen with Various He contents in 50-in. AC-PDPs

  • The effects of the temporal dark image sticking phenomena on bright screen were investigated with various He, Ne contents and a high Xe content fixed at 11% in the 50-in. ac-PDPs. In this work, the disappearance time and the display luminance between the before and after discharge in the discharge and non-discharge regions were measured with 0%, 35%, and 50% He contents. Consequently, the temporal dark image sticking on bright screen was reduced with the increase of He contents compared with the non-He (0%) content.

  • ADS(Address Display Period Separation) driving method has been considered to be the most appropriate driving technique for AC PDP. ADS driving method is composed of reset, address, sustain and erase period. Therefore, a long time should be allocated to an address period, which results in a reduction of brightness. To realize a high luminance and high picture quality, it is necessary to high speed addressing. However, address discharge time lag increases as the temperature decreases, which can cause the misfiring and low picture quality In this paper, the electric field effect and priming particle effect are investigated in order to reduce the address discharge time lag at low temperature. Address discharge time lag was reduced effectively when the priming particles are provided.

방전램프의 광질에 따른 상추의 생장 및 파이토케미컬 분석 (Growth and Phytochemicals of Lettuce as Affected by Light Quality of Discharge Lamps)

  • 본 연구는 식물공장용으로 방전램프로서 메탈할라이드램프(MH), 고압나트륨램프(HPS), 제논램프(XE)를 사용하고, 냉백색형광등(FL)을 대조구로 사용한 가운데 상추(Lactuca sativa L. cv. Jeokchima)의 생육 및 파이토케미컬의 특성을 분석하고자 수행되었다. 식물공장 내부의 환경조건은 광주기 16/8h, 광합성유효광양자속(photosynthetic photon flux, PPF) $200{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$, 기온 $22/18^{\circ}C$, 습도 70%, $CO_2$ 농도 $400{\mu}mol{\cdot}mol^{-1}$로 조절하였다. 각 램프의 분광 특성을 이용하여 PPF에 대한 청색광 영역(400~500nm), 녹색광 영역(500~600nm), 적색광 영역(600~700nm)의 비율을 계산하였다. MH램프의 청색광 영역은 23.0%로서 다른 처리구에 비해서 가장 높게 나타났다. 한편 HPS램프의 청색광 영역은 4.7%로서 가장 낮게 나타났으나, 적색광 영역은 38.0%로서 다른 처리구에 비해서 높게 나타났다. 정식 후 11일째와 21일째에 측정된 상추의 엽장, 엽폭, 엽면적, 지상부 생체중 및 건물중은 방전램프의 광질에 따른 유의차가 나타날 정도로 다르게 나타났다. HPS 처리구의 엽면적은 $143,486mm^2$로서 대조구의 $98,474mm^2$에 비해서 45.7% 크게 나타났으며, MH와 XE 처리구는 대조구에 비해서 각각 16.3%, 9.5%로 크게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 지상부 생체중에서도 유사하게 나타났다. 적색광 영역의 비율이 높은 HPS 처리구에서는 상추의 잎 관련 생장 특성에서 최대치가 나타났으나, 청색광 영역의 비율이 높은 MH와 XE 처리구에서는 낮게 나타났다. 방전등 처리구에 따라 상추 잎에 축적된 아스코르빈산 함량은 대조구에 비해서 작게 나타났으며, 처리구 사이에 유의차가 인정되지 않았다. 상추 잎의 안토시아닌 함량은 MH 처리구에서 0.70mg/100g으로 최대치가 나타났으며, XE와 HPS 처리구는 대조구의 0.58mg/100g에 비해서 각각 79.3%, 8.6%수준이었다. 결과적으로 방전램프의 종류에 따라 상추의 생장 특성, 아스코르빈산 및 안토시아닌 함량이 다르게 나타났다. 따라서 식물공장용 인공광원으로서 방전램프를 효율적으로 활용하면서, 상추의 생장 및 파이토케미컬 함량을 증진시키기 위해서는 분광 특성이 상이한 방전램프의 병용 또는 단색광 LED의 추가 설치 등과 같은 방전램프의 광질 개선이 요구된다.

Mesh-type PECVD 방법으로 제조된 비정질 Si박막의 특성 및 레이저 결정화 (Characteristics of Amorphous Si Films Fabricated by Mesh-type PECVD and Their Crystallization Behavior Using Excimer Laser)

  • poly-Si TR는 LCD의 고해상도화, 고집적화에 따라 그 요구가 점점 필요해지고 있다. 그러나 poly-Si의 제조를 위해 주로 사용하는 레이저 결정화 방법은 박막 내에 함유된 수소 때문에 별도의 탈수소 공정을 행하는 실정이다. 막내의 수소는 결정화 시 eruption과 void등의 생성으로 poly Si의 막 특성뿐 아니라 소자 특성에도 나쁜 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 전술한 문제점을 제어하기 위해 mesh-type PECVD를 제안하고 저수소화 박막 증착에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 증착된 비정질 Si 박막은 $300^{\circ}C$ 이하의 온도에서도 $1 at\%$ 이하의 낮은 수소 함유량을 가진 것으로 조사되었다. mesh에 의한 이런 결과는 막내에 함유되는 수소를 효과적으로 제어하고 별도의 탈수소 공정을 배제하여 공정 감소의 효과를 갖는 장점이 있다. 또한 제조된 비정질 Si을 이용하여 XeCl 레이저 결정화하여 그 거동을 조사하였는데 일반적인 거동과 달리 매우 넓은 공정 영역을 갖고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다 또한, 수소에 의한 표면 거칠기 문제는 발견되지 않았으며 비교적 조대하고 균일한 결정립 분포를 하는 것으로 조사되었다 본 결과는 레이저 결정화 공정의 안정성에 기여하고 소자 특성 향상에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다

Influence of Temporal and Permanent Image Sticking Characteristics Under Variable Panel Working Gas Pressure in 42-in. AC-PDPs

  • The effects of the temporal and permanent bright image stickings were examined under variable panel working gas pressure in the 42-in. ac-PDP with a high Xe (11 %) content. In the cells with and without temporal and permanent bright image stickings, the display luminance, firing voltage, and Vt closed curve were measured relative to the working gas pressure. With a decrease in the working gas pressure, the temporal bright image sticking was observed to be reduced, whereas the permanent bright image sticking was observed to be deteriorated.
