Novel Zero-Voltage-Switching Bridgeless PFC Converter

  • In this paper, a new zero-voltage-switching, high power-factor, bridgeless rectifier is introduced. In this topology, an auxiliary circuit provides soft switching for all of the power semiconductor devices. Thus the switching losses are reduced and the highest efficiency can be achieved. The proposed converter has been analyzed and a design procedure has been introduced. The control circuit for the converter has also been developed. Based on the given approach, a 250 W, 400 Vdc prototype converters has been designed at 100 kHz for universal input voltage (90-264 Vrms) applications. A maximum efficiency of 94.6% and a power factor correction over 0.99 has been achieved. The simulation and experimental results confirm the design procedure and highlight the advantages of the proposed topology.

Hybrid Type Vibration Power Flow Analysis Method Using SEA Parameters

  • This paper proposes a hybrid method for vibration analysis in the medium to high frequency ranges using Power Flow Analysis (PFA) algorithm and Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) coupling concepts. The main part of the developed method is the application of coupling loss factor (CLF) suggested in SEA to the power transmission, reflection coefficients in PI' A boundary conditions. The developed hybrid method shows very promising results with regard to the applications for the various damping loss factors in wide frequency ranges. And also this paper presents the applied results of Power Flow Finite Element Method (PFFEM) by forming the new joint element matrix with CLF to analyze the various plate structures in shape. The analytical results of automobile, complex plate structures show good agreement with those of PFFEM using the PFA coefficients.

  • Generally in solar air conditioning system, the diode rectifier is used to build up DC link voltage from AC source. The diode rectifier is simple and cheap but it brings out the problems of low power factor and plentiful harmonics at the AC source. Also It can degrade the utilization rate of solar energy because the reverse of power flow cannot be made. Hence, in this paper to overcome the peak power problems in summer and to endure good AC input characteristics, solar air conditioning system using the PWM converter is proposed. A high input power factor of 97[%] and an efficiency of 98[%] are also obtained. The harmonic guide lines of proposed rectifier is no interfered with inverter switching, resulting in a simple, reliable and low cost ac to dc converters in comparison with the boost type current improving circuits.

Interleaved Boost-Flyback Converter with Boundary Conduction Mode for Power Factor Correction

  • This paper presents a new interleaved pulse-width modulation (PWM) boost-flyback converter to achieve power factor correction (PFC) and regulate DC bus voltage. The adopted boost-flyback converter has a high voltage conversion ratio to overcome the limit of conventional boost or buck-boost converter with narrow turn-off period. The proposed converter has wide turn-off period compared with a conventional boost converter. Thus, the higher output voltage can be achieved in the proposed converter. The interleaved PWM can further reduce the input and output ripple currents such that the sizes of inductor and capacitor are reduced. Since boundary conduction mode (BCM) is adopted to achieve power factor correction, power switches are turned on at zero current switching (ZCS) and switching losses are reduced. The circuit configuration, principle operation, system analysis, and design consideration of the proposed converter are presented in detail. Finally, experiments conducted on a laboratory prototype rated at 500W were presented to verify the effectiveness of the converter.

  • A new group of magnetic coupled high power factor converter with a single-switch /single-stage is proposed. The proposed converter gives the good power factor correction, low current harmonic distortions, and tight output voltage regulation. The prototype shows the IEC555-2 requirements are met satisfactorily with nearly unity power factor.

  • This paper presents a new configure rectifier which has improved input power factor and efficiency for DC arc weldings. Two rectifiers are series connected and they are single-phase full-wave phase controlled rectifiers that use a transformer with two center-tapped secondary. The input power factor can be improved by controlling the each phase of rectifiers sequentially, and then the efficiency can be also improved because the reactive component currents will be reduced. It is confirmed that the proposed rectifiers has about 80% of input power factor and efficiency with the experimental results which are carried out at the output ranges of 100A to 300A.

A New High Power Factor ZVT-ZCT AC-DC Boost Converter

  • This paper introduces a new soft switched AC-DC boost converter with power factor correction (PFC). In the introduced converter, all devices are turned on and off under soft switching (SS). The main switch is turned on under zero voltage transition (ZVT) and turned off under zero current transition (ZCT). The main diode is turned on under zero voltage switching (ZVS) and turned off under zero current switching (ZCS). Meanwhile, there is not any current or voltage stress on the main devices. Besides, the auxiliary switch is turned on under ZCS and turned off under ZVS. The detailed theoretical analysis of the converter is presented, and also theoretical analysis is verified by a prototype with 100 kHz and 500 W. Also, the proposed converter has 99.8% power factor and 97.5% total efficiency at soft switching operation.

  • 본 연구는 교류전원측에서 콘버터에 의해 출력전압조정과 동시에 입력전류가 전압과 동상에 가까운 정현파가 되도록 하기 위해 고주파 스위칭에 의한 단상 부스터 콘버터의 제어방식을 분석하고 가변밴드폭 제어방식에 의해 1[kW]부하에 대하여 각 파라메타를 산정하며 실험장치를 구성하여 주파수 스팩트럼 분석기에 의한 분석을 토대로 고역률 동작을 확인하고자 한다.

  • This study was carried out about the design and the performance study of propulsion system for Korean High Speed Train of maximum operating speed of 350km/h. The propulsion system was studied to two parts the formation of power transmission and the performance of traction system base on Korean-TGV. For maximum operating speed of 350km/h at Seoul-Pusan high speed line, the power of train should be have the remaining acceleration of 0.058m/s/s and the slopeability of 6%o. This performance study of propulsion system would be continued for defining of adhesion factor, friction factor and aerodynamic factor assumed to analysis and simulation.
