자기효능감 및 교실맥락, 도움회피 태도가 초등학생의 도움요청 행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Students' Self Efficacy, Classroom Contextual Characteristics and Help-avoidance Attitudes on Academic Help-seeking Behavior)

  • This study explored the effects of self efficacy, classroom contextual characteristics and help-avoidance attitudes on academic help-seeking behavior. Participants were 210 4th grade students. Data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis through the SPSSWIN 12.0. Results showed that students' self efficacy, perception of teacher behavior and goal orientations were positively related to help-seeking behaviors. Help-avoidance attitudes were negatively related to help-seeking behaviors. Cognitive efficacy and social-emotional efficacy facilitated help-seeking behaviors. Help-seeking behaviors were influenced by teacher's supportive help and expectation. Mastery goal orientations and performance-approach goal orientations promoted help-seeking behaviors but performance-avoidance goal orientations impeded help-seeking behaviors. Autonomous intention attitudes expedited help-seeking behaviors but intention based on ability diminished help-seeking behaviors.

교실목표 및 수업환경 지각과 도움요청 행동의 관계 (Teachers' Goal Orientation and Support for Seeking Help as Predictors of Academic Help-Seeking Behaviors)

  • The present study examined the relation between academic help-seeking behaviors and classroom context based on students' perceptions of various classroom goals stressed by their teachers and their perceived teacher support for seeking help. The 305 subjects were 5th grade students(162 boys and 143 girls) of an elementary school in Gwangyang. The students completed a questionnaire. Data were analyzed by $2{\times}2$ ANOVA. Results showed that students' help-seeking behaviors were influenced by their teachers' goal orientation and perceived teacher support for seeking help. The results of this study suggest that perceived teacher support for seeking help may be expecially important for some students who could use instrumental help to continue task engagement, and teachers' learning-focused goal orientation is an important variable of instrumental help-seeking behavior.

가정폭력 피해 장애인의 외부도움요청 영향 요인 (Factors on Help-seeking Behaviors among the Disabled Experiencing Domestic Violence)

  • This study aims to investigate the factors on help-seeking behaviors among the disabled experiencing lifelong domestic violence and suggest practical plans to address the problems. According to an analysis of the data of the "2010 Domestic Violence Survey of South Korea", the occurrence rate of lifelong physical violence is 12.1% and that of severe physical violence is 6.2% among 273 adults with disabilities. The rate of help-seeking among the disabled experiencing lifelong domestic violence is 26.3%, which means two-thirds of the disabled experiencing domestic violence do so for a long time. The results of the study show that the experience of severe physical violence(p<.05), attitudes toward violence(p<.05), and awareness of domestic violence and related laws(p<.05) were found to have an impact on help-seeking behaviors among adults with disabilities experiencing domestic violence. However, an accepting attitude of disability and social connections of disabled were not found to have an impact on help-seeking behaviors. Based on these results, this study suggested raising awareness about domestic violence among the disabled, educating people with disabilities not to tolerate violence and informing them about the domestic violence-related legal system, and training service professionals (social workers, health professionals etc.) to screen the disabled for domestic violence and prevent them from becoming domestic violence victims.

School Violence, Depressive Symptoms, and Help-seeking Behavior: A Gender-stratified Analysis of Biethnic Adolescents in South Korea

  • Objectives: In South Korea (hereafter Korea), the number of adolescent offspring of immigrants has rapidly increased since the early 1990s, mainly due to international marriage. This research sought to examine the association between the experience of school violence and mental health outcomes, and the role of help-seeking behaviors in the association, among biethnic adolescents in Korea. Methods: We analyzed cross-sectional data of 3627 biethnic adolescents in Korea from the 2012 National Survey of Multicultural Families. Based on the victim's help-seeking behavior, adolescents who experienced school violence were classified into three groups: 'seeking help' group; 'feeling nothing' group; 'not seeking help' group. Multivariate logistic regression was applied to examine the associations between the experience of school violence and depressive symptoms for males and females separately. Results: In the gender-stratified analysis, school violence was associated with depressive symptoms in the 'not seeking help' (odds ratio [OR], 7.05; 95% confidence interval [CI], 3.76 to 13.23) and the 'seeking help' group (OR, 2.77; 95% CI, 1.73 to 4.44) among male adolescents after adjusting for potential confounders, including the nationality of the immigrant parent and Korean language fluency. Similar associations were observed in the female groups. However, in the 'feeling nothing' group, the association was only significant for males (OR, 8.34; 95% CI, 2.82 to 24.69), but not females (OR, 0.77; 95% CI, 0.18 to 3.28). Conclusions: This study suggests that experience of school violence is associated with depressive symptoms and that the role of victims' help-seeking behaviors in the association may differ by gender among biethnic adolescents in Korea.

여대생의 도움추구 행위, 자기개방성 및 자기은폐 간의 관계 (Relation between the Help Seeking Behaviors, Self-disclosure and Self-consealment in Female College Women)

  • The college students were faced with not just technical challenges that require skill acquisition but adaptive challenges that require transforming one's mindset to a more complex way of making meaning. The purpose of this study was confirmed the relations among the help-seeking behavior, self-disclosure and self-concealment of 343 female college students'. As a result of data analysis, positive help seeking attitude was higher when the level of self-concealment was lower and self-disclosure, but regarding help-seeking intention, consultation intention was shown to be higher in the case of lower self-disclosure and higher self-concealment. Therefore, female college students need to visit college consultation centers more often while attending college and it needs to provide those students with mediation so that they can use mental health consultation services easily.

초등학교 고학년이 지각한 교사행동, 학급풍토, 학생의 성취목표지향과 도움찾기 행동 간의 구조적 관계 (Structural Relations of Teacher Behavior, Classroom Climate, and Student Achievement Goal Orientation to Help-Seeking for Upper Elementary Students)

  • 본 연구는 초등학교 고학년 학생을 대상으로 효과적인 자기조절 학습전략의 하나인 도움찾기 행동에 영향을 주는 것으로 알려진 개인적 요인(성취목표지향)과 맥락적 요인(교사행동, 학급풍토) 간의 구조적 관계 분석을 통해 학습관련 도움찾기를 증진할 수 있는 방법에 대한 이해를 얻고자 이루어졌다. 특히, 학생에게 지지적이며 자율성을 부여하고 높은 기대를 하는 교사행동과 학생의 학습관련 도움찾기 행동 간의 관계에서 학급의 전반적인 풍토와 학생 개인의 성취목표지향이 어떤 매개역할을 하는지 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 3개 초등학교 5, 6학년 315명의 학생을 대상으로 설문을 실시하여 자료를 분석하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생들에게 지지적 도움을 제공하고 높은 기대를 하며 학업지향적인 교사행동은 응집력 있고 긍정적인 학급풍토를 만들뿐만 아니라 학생으로 하여금 숙달목표와 같은 접근적인 성취목표를 갖게 하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 긍정적인 학급풍토가 학생들에게 숙달목표를 갖게 하는 데 중요한 역할을 하며, 여러 성취목표지향 중에서 숙달목표만이 학생들의 도움찾기 행동을 유의하게 예측하였다. 둘째, 교사행동은 학급풍토와 학생의 숙달목표를 거치는 이중매개를 통해 학생의 도움찾기 행동을 유의하게 예측하는 것으로 나타나, 도움찾기 행동에 대해 교실 맥락변인과 학생 개인변인이 상호작용 하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 적응적 학습전략인 도움찾기 행동을 학생들에게 증진시키는데 있어 교사의 역할과 숙달목표의 중요성을 시사해 주었다.

An Inquiry to the Causal Perceptions & Health Seeking Behaviors of Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the causal perceptions and health seeking behaviors of Rheumatoid arthritis patients, define and understand the typology, and find the relationship between causal perceptions and health seeking behavioral types. There were six types(Physical Fatigue, Dispensation of Nature, Causality to Environment, Conscience of Guilty, Rationally perceiving, Psychological Stress) of subjective opinion about Causal Perceptions of Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients. And there were four types(Oriental medical Treatment, Information Seeking, Dietary Control. Western Medical Treatment) of subjective opinion about Health Seeking Behaviors. In the relationship between types of the causal perceptions and health seeking behaviors, oriental medical treatment and information seeking type were common health seeking behaviors of all six causal perception types. Only difference for internal causal perception types was related to hospital instructions and external causal perception types were related to dietary control. The result of this study can help health care providers, especially nurses to understand the types of causal perceptions and health seeking behaviors of Rheumatoid arthritis patients to gain treatment compliance from patients according to their causal perceptions of the illness, and use it to develop educational nursing intervention to aid health care.

고등학생의 지각된 부모의 자율성지지, 성장신념, 그릿, 회피적 도움추구행동에 대한 융합적 연구 (Converged Study of Perceived Parental Autonomy Support, Growth Mindset, Grit, and Help-Seeking Behaviors Of High-School Students)

  • 본 연구는 고등학생이 지각한 부모의 자율성지지, 성장신념, 그릿이 회피적 도움추구행동에 미치는 영향을 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울시 소재 일반계 고등학교에 재학 중인 418명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였으며 회수된 자료는 Mplus 8.2와 SPSS 25.0 통계 프로그램을 사용하여 사전기초분석, Pearson 상관분석 및 구조방정식 모형 분석을 통하여 검증되었다. 그 결과 첫째, 지각된 부모의 자율성지지는 성장신념과 그릿에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 성장신념은 지각된 부모의 자율성지지가 회피적 도움추구행동에 미치는 부적 영향을 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 고등학생의 자기주도적인 학습 행동을 증진하기 위하여 부모와의 관계뿐만 아니라 개인의 내적 성장신념이 복합적으로 작용함을 알 수 있었으며, 이러한 결과로 본 연구가 가질 수 있는 이론 및 실천적 시사점이 논의되었다.

Decision-tree Model of Treatment-seeking Behaviors after Detecting Symptoms by Korean Stroke Patients

  • Purpose. This study was performed to develop and test a decision-tree model of treatment-seeking behaviors about when Korean patients visit a doctor after experiencing stroke symptoms. Methods. The study used methodological triangulation. The model was developed based on qualitative data collected from in-depth interviews with 18 stroke patients. The model was tested using quantitative data collected from interviews and a structured questionnaire involving 150 stroke patients. The predictability of the decision-tree model was quantified as the proportion of participants who followed the pathway predicted by the model. Results. Decision outcomes of the model were categorized into immediate and delayed treatment-seeking behavior. The model was influenced by lowered consciousness, social-group influences, perceived seriousness of symptoms, past history of hypertension or stroke, and barriers to hospital visits. The predictability of the model was found to be 90.7%. Conclusions. The results from this study can help healthcare personnel understand the education needs of stroke patients regarding treatment-seeking behaviors, and hence aid in the development of educational strategies for stroke patients.

수발상황의 노인학대에 관한 인식과 원조요청 태도: 재미한인 노인세대와 자녀세대의 비교 (Perceptions of Elder Abuse under Caregiving Situation and Help-Seeking Behaviors: Comparison of Korean American Elderly and Adult Children Generation)

  • 노인인구의 급증과 기능손상된 노인에 대한 장기적인 보살핌 제공과 관련 가족에 대한 요구 증가로 인해 노인학대 문제에 대한 환심이 커지고 있다. 이 연구는 다섯 개의 가상적 시나리오를 사용하여 재미한인노인과 그 자녀들의 수발상황에서의 잠재적 노인학대에 관한 인식과 원조요청 태도를 비교 분석하였다. 연구대상은 미국 로스엔젤리스에 살고 있는 한인노인 10명과 며느리를 포함하여 노인들의 자녀 19명으로 구성되었다. 내용분석 결과 수발상황의 잠재적 노인학대 문제에 관한 인식은 가족 내에 상당한 세대차이가 있었으나 원조요청 태도는 유사하였다. Mann-Whitney test로 전체 노인세대와 자녀세대를 집단비교한 결과 노인세대가 잠재적 노인학대 상황을 자녀세대보다 훨씬 덜 학대로 지각하는 경향으로 드러났다. 그러나 원조요청 태도에 있어서는 전체 노인세대와 자녀세대의 집단비교에서도 공적 원조를 활용하겠다는 의사에 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 연구결과에 근거해 노인복지실천 및 프로그램 개발에 대한 함의를 논의하였다.
