In this thesis presents the application to the field of Hwangto-used concrete highlighted as an eco-friendly material and performs an experiment in the aspect of construction and quality on the construction for all parts of buildings, rather than for some parts of buildings as shown from existing application and got the conclusion as followings. 1) It was turned out that Hwangto concrete showed lower hydrated heat and arid contraction comparing to those of cement concrete. And this phenomenon is judged to appear high when applied to mass building and huge span structures. 2) The construction of Hwangto concrete is judged to be possible in applying to constructions since the mechanical construction seems to be possible by using pump car and ready-mixed concrete which are used at the practical sites at the moment. 3) The pockmarks appearing on the exposure surface were about 2% of total area. This has great cohesion by Hwangto concrete but is judged that it will be improved through enough vibration stamping. Through the experiments of quality and construction of Hwangto concrete as environment-friendly construction materials, it is possible to judge modernized application of Hwangto concrete. It is in need of more studies about economical efficiency, structural stability, design application, etc. afterwards.

This study is a basic experiment on quality management of the compression strength of high strength concrete, aiming. at quality management of high strength mass concrete by giving the temperature hysteresis of the mass test pieces to managerial test pieces. Different from ordinary concrete, high strength concrete generally shows the temperature high rising caused by hydration heat inside the concrete. It is known that, in mass concrete, thermal stress occurs due to the difference in temperature between the inside and the outside, which causes a significant difference in compression strength between structure beams and managerial test pieces. It is also reported that there is a large difference between the compression strength of cylindrical managerial test pieces of standard underwater curing and the strength of structure beam concrete. Thus, this study made concrete test pieces in an optimal mix ratio for each strength level, and also created thermal insulation curing box and managerial test pieces. Then it carried out comparative analysis in relation to core strength and suggested equipment and a technique that can control the strength of high strength concrete mass more conveniently and accurately.
Concrete bond strength with steel re-bars depends on multiple factors including concrete-steel interface and mechanical properties of concrete. However, the hydration development of cementitious paste, and in turn the mechanical properties of concrete, are negatively affected by cold weather. This study aimed at exploring the concrete-steel bonding behavior in concrete cast and cured under freezing temperatures. Three concrete mixtures were cast and cured at -10 and -20℃. The mixtures were protected using conventional insulation blankets and a hybrid system consisting of insulation blankets and phase change materials. The mixtures comprised General Use cement, fly ash (20%), nano-silica (6%) and calcium nitrate-nitrite as a cold weather admixture system. The mixtures were tested in terms of internal temperature, compressive, tensile strengths, and modulus of elasticity. In addition, the bond strength between concrete and steel re-bars were evaluated by a pull-out test, while the quality of the interface between concrete and steel was assessed by thermal and microscopy studies. In addition, the internal heat evolution and force-slip relationship were modeled based on energy conservation and stress-strain relationships, respectively using three-dimensional (3D) finite-element software. The results showed the reliability of the proposed models to accurately predict concrete heat evolution as well as bond strength relative to experimental data. The hybrid protection system and nano-modified concrete mixtures produced good quality concrete-steel interface with adequate bond strength, without need for heating operations before casting and during curing under freezing temperatures down to -20℃.
This paper deals with the development of h-version adaptive mesh refinement and recovery strategy using variable-node elements and its application to various engineering field problems with 2D quadrilateral and 3D hexahedral models. The variable-node elements which have variable mid-side nodes on edges or faces are effectively used in overcoming some problems in connecting the different layer patterns of the transition zone between the refined and coarse mesh. A modified recovery technique of gradients adequate for variable-node elements and proper selection of error norms for each engineering field problems are proposed. In the region in which the error is greater than the permissible refinement error, the mesh is locally refined by subdivision. Reversely, in some parts of the domain having the error smaller than the permissible recovery error, the mesh is locally recovered (coarsened) by combination. Hierarchical structures (e.g. quadtrees and octrees) and element-based storage structures are composed to perform this adaptive process of refinement and recovery. Some numerical examples of a 3D heat conduction analysis of the concrete with hydration heat and a 2D flow analysis of vortex shedding show effectiveness and validity of the proposed scheme.
Cracks occur in mass concrete structures during construction if temperature of the
concrete due to heat of hydration is suddenly changed. The temperature is also changed
after placement of mass concrete by construction environments on structures. However,
methods which can analyze the temperature history of mass concrete considering the
construction environments have not been developed yet.
In this research, an algorithm and finite element analysis program is developed for the
analysis of temperature rise history of mass concrete considering quantitatively heat
transfer coefficient and construction environmental conditions such as climate
conditions, curing conditions, forms and form removal, and additive curing.
By comparing analysis results of the program with experimental data, other research
data, and analysis results by a finite element program ADINAT, validity and accuracy of
the program is verified.

As the construction site has become narrower recently, the importance of mass concrete is naturally being highlighted as skyscrapers become popular. However, it is not possible to install the entire volume per day if the mass concrete is installed due to the Remicon 8⦁5 system and the 52-hour workweek system. When the mass concrete base is divided into several days, cold joints occur because the consolidation of joints is not integrated due to different degree of hardening in the case of the previous layer and the next day. As a result, existing research has shown that if super retarding agent are mixed into Ready Mixed Concrete (hereinafter referred to as Remicon) using sugar as a raw material to delay the curing time of concrete, cold joints are inhibited and cracks are inhibited by reducing the initial hydration heat.

An air-conditioning system based on the chemical heat storage principle was considered. $H_2O$ was chosen as the reaction gas and the working fluid as well. Na$_2$S, CaCl$_2$, MnCl$_2$, BaCl$_2$, MgCl$_2$, Fe$_2$(SO$_4$)$_3$ and MnSO$_4$ were tested as the solid reactants by using Cahn pressure balance. Na$_2$S was superior to other salts in respect of high capability of absorption of water gas, 5 moles of $H_2O$ per unit mole of Na$_2$S, and adequate temperature of adsorption, $65^{\circ}C$ at 7torr, and of desorption, 13$0^{\circ}C$ at 76torr. Clausius-Clapeyron diagram of Na$_2$S was obtained via adsorption experiments at several vapor pressures of water gas. To enhance heat and mass transfer characteristics, usually below 1W/m K, of the reactor bed of general adsorption systems, expanded graphite block was adapted as the support of Na$_2$S salt. Expanded graphite blocks had thermal conductivity values of 20~80W/mK with respect to 100~400kg/㎥ of block bulk density. Permeability values of expanded graphite blocks were 10$^{-13}$ ~ 10$^{-14}$$m^2$ with respect to 100~300kg/㎥ of block bulk density showing highly decreasing values of permeability, below 10$^{-l4}$$m^2$, in the range of above 150kg/㎥ of block bulk density.y.

The time-dependent temperature distribution across the section in bridges is determined on the basis of the three-dimensional finite element analyses and numerical time integration in this study. The material properties which change with time and thermal stress of concrete are taken into account to effectively trace the early-age structural responses. Since the temperature distribution is nonlinear and depends upon many material constants such as the thermal conductivity, specific heat, hydration heat of concrete, heat transfer coefficients and solar radiation, three representative influencing factors of the construction season, wind velocity and bridge pavement are considered at the parametric studies. The validity of the introduced numerical model is established by comparing the analytical predictions with results from previous analytical studies. On the basis of parametric studies for four different bridge sections, it is found that the creep deformation in concrete bridges must be considered to reach more reasonable design results and the temperature distribution proposed in the Korean bridge design specification need to be improved.

This study reviewed the results of utilization of insulation heat curing method using double layer bubble sheet in slab concrete and mass concrete in cold weather environment. First of all, when double layer bubble sheets are applied, it was shown that slab concrete was protected from early freezing by remaining between 6 and $10^{\circ}C$ even in case outside temperature drops $10^{\circ}C$ below zero until the 2nd day from piling, and in the case of mass concrete, with the maximum temperature difference between the center and surface less than $6^{\circ}C$, crack occurrence index was close to 2 and no hydration heat crack occurred by internal constraint. The insulation heat preservation curing method using the double bubble sheet applied in this field prevented early freezing owing to stable curing temperature management, deterring concrete strength development delay at low temperature, and obtained the needed strength. Also, it was proven that the method is highly effective and economic for cold weather concrete quality maintenance through curing cost reduction like construction period shortening and labor cost reduction, etc by reducing the process of temporary equipment installation and disassembling.
Thermal stresses due to the heat of hydration can cause extensive cracking in subway structures. In order to reduce heat cracks, construction methods (e.g. sequential or skipping construction methods) need to be changed. However, to our knowledge, the existing literature contains little information on the correlation between heat cracks and construction methods. Thus, in this study, the temperature crack index table was suggested based on construction lengths (6 m, 9 m and 18 m), concrete mixtures (Type I cement with FA of 20 % in cement weight, Type IV cement with FA of 10 % in cement weight, and mixture of three different cements), construction seasons (spring or autumn, summer and winter) and construction method (sequential or skipping construction methods). The index table can be easily used corresponding to changes in concrete placing method at the construction site. Also, the correlation of cracking due to sequential or skipping construction methods was derived based on the statistical approaches.
