The Effect of Job Stress and Lifestyle on Blood Lipid. Levels in Male Aircrew Personnel

  • Introduction. Cardiovascular disease has the potential to lead to sudden in-flight incapacitation and permanent grounding. The aims of this study are to examine the relationships between lifestyle, job stress and blood lipid levels of male aircrew personnel of a Korean airline and to identify which factors influence their hyper-lipidemia. Methods. Two hundred sixteen male aircrew personnel completed a questionnaire by self-report and consented to participate in the study. The questionnaire collected data related to job stress, life style, serum cholesterol levels and general characteristics of the aircrew. The cholesterol levels of the subjects were collected from their most recent health check-up records. Subjects were divided into two groups (the desirable group and the risk group) based on their serum cholesterol level, 200 mg/dl. Results. Mean age and marital status were significantly different between the two groups. More subjects in the risk group had habits of eating high lipid foods, while more subjects in the desirable group exercised more frequently than the risk group. In logistic regression analysis, after controlling age and marital status, types of working situation (domestic duty or international duty, odds ratio=.390, p=.018), diet (odds ratio=.429, p=.037), and exercise (odds ratio=.320, p=.055) were influencing factors on aircrew's serum cholesterol lev-els. Conclusions. The cholesterol level of aircrew personnel is closely related to their lifestyle, such as lipid diet and exercise. The type of work situations, e.g. staying in an airplane for long periods of time or staying abroad, may influence these diet patterns and exercise habits.

  • Purpose: This study was designed to identify meaningful themes related to the recognition of lifestyle risk factors and barriers in seeking treatment following an acute event of first-time acute myocardial infarction. Methods: A methodological mixed method of thematic content analysis and a quantitative analysis was used. The sample consisted of 120 male patients < 65 years of age who agreed to be in the study were interviewed using a semistructured during 2008-2009. Data were analyzed according to the procedure of thematic content analysis and the meaningful themes were coded into SPSS data for quantitative analysis. Results: Pre-hospital delay greater than three hours reported by 58.3% (n=70) of the sample and similarly 63.3% had no recognition about their symptoms as cardiac in origin. The mean number of risk factors was $3.9{\pm}1.8$ out of 11 when lifestyle and psychosocial factors were included. From the interview data among the 70 patients delayed greater than three hours, thirty-five themes categorized into 12 main themes influenced the delayed decision which was identified according to personal-cognitive, socio-cultural, and contextual factors. Conclusion: Health care providers should consider these themes in designing individual interventions to make lifestyle changes and to facilitate more prompt decisions to seek care.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 고객의 식생활 라이프스타일이 레스토랑에서 MSG 사용 선호에 미치는 영향을 조사하고, Baron & Kenny가 제시한 위계적 회귀분석을 이용하여 식품 안전에 태도의 조절 효과를 검증하는 것이다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 식생활 라이프스타일은 식품 탐험형, 미각 추구형, 건강 추구형, 편의 추구형, 고유 추구형으로 5 개 그룹으로 분류된다. 둘째, 편의 추구형은 레스토랑에서 MSG 사용 선호도에 정(+)의 영향력이 있었지만, 건강추구형과 고유추구형은 부(-)의 유의적인 영향력이 있었다. 셋째, 식품안전태도는 편의추구형과 고유추구형에서 레스토랑 MSG 사용 선호도 간에 유의적인 부(-)의 조절효과가 있었다.

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 기존에 성인 대상으로 개발된 연세 라이프스타일 프로파일(YLP)의 청소년 대상 적합성을 신뢰도 및 타당도 검증을 통해 확인하고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 국내 중·고등학생 436명을 대상으로 연세 라이프스타일 프로파일(YLP)의 신뢰도와 타당도를 평가하였다. 내적 일관성 분석은 크론바흐 알파(Cronbach's α)와 스피어만-브라운(Spearman-Brown) 계수를 통해 분석하였다. 동시타당도 분석은 한국청소년 신체활동 설문지(KYPAQ), 한글판 아동·청소년 참여 척도(CASP), 청소년을 위한 영양지수(NQ-A)와의 피어슨 상관계수(Pearson Correlation Coefficient)를 통해 분석하였다. 결과 : 신뢰도의 경우, 연세 라이프스타일 프로파일(YLP)의 문항 전체 내적 일관성은 Cronbach's α = .811, Spearman-Brown 계수 = .779로, 높은 신뢰도를 나타내었다. 타당도의 경우 신체활동(r = .555, p < .01), 활동참여(r = .177, p < .01), 식습관(r = .633, p < .05) 모두 유의미한 양의 상관관계를 보여, 연관성 척도들과의 일관된 상관성을 확인하였다. 결론 : 본 연구는 청소년 대상 연세 라이프스타일 프로파일(YLP)을 분석하여 신체활동, 활동참여, 식습관 영역에서 높은 신뢰도와 유의미한 타당도를 확인하였다. YLP는 청소년의 건강한 라이프스타일을 평가하는 신뢰할 수 있는 도구로 사용될 수 있음을 시사한다.

Association of Psychological Health and Perceived Oral Health in Elderly Individuals: Focusing on Depression, Stress, and Suicidal Ideation

  • The present study aimed to examine the influence of mental health factors on oral health factors using data from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). A total of 1,548 elderly individuals aged over 65 years who completed the screening and health questionnaire were selected as the final study participants. The psychological health factors related to perceived oral health status were depression and stress when the gender was controlled, and in terms of gender, both elderly male and female individuals were stressed and depressed. These results suggested that the psychological health of elderly individuals negatively affects not only perceived oral health but also the quality of life. In addition, the psychological health of the elderly individuals should be systematically managed along with oral health care and overall health care and lifestyle. If a comprehensive health management system is available for low-income groups or an elderly person living alone, it should positively affect and improve the quality of life of elderly individuals.

공공부문 보건의료조직의 만성질환 예방사업에서 요구하는 필요능력과 보건교육사의 직무 강화 방안 (Enhancement for competencies of health education specialists to prevent chronic diseases in public health organizations)

  • Objectives: This study performed to enhance the competency of health education specialist on population-based program to prevent chronic disease in public health organizations. In addition, it will provide the basic data to enhance specialized competency for health education specialist. Method: The current operating strategy and demanded competency related to chronic disease programs were analyzed by reviewing the Korean Health Plan 2020, the guideline of integrated health promotion programs, and the job description of health education specialist. Results: Preventive programs for chronic disease provide with healthy lifestyle programs in integrated health promotion service. First, health education specialist should learn to professional knowledge on health risk factor and chronic disease. Second, they should cultivate the integrated competency to manage operations on obesity, hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer prevention programs. Third, they get strengthened the-job training to implement health education, public relations, campaigns, media advocacy, and utilization of multi-media. Conclusion: It should implement the preventive programs for chronic disease in various health promotion services through coordination with multiple sectors. To identify of the job in preventive program for that, it would be required empowerment of health education specialists on disease prevention science and practical life skill.

일부 중년여성의 식습관이 인지된 건강관련 체력에 미치는 영향 -창원지역을 중심으로- (The Impacts of Dietary Habits on Self-perceived Health-related Physical Fitness in Middle-aged Women -Focused on Changwon Province-)

  • 본 연구에서는 45~60세 중년여성을 대상으로 인지된 건강관련 체력 수준에 따라 대상자를 분류하여 그룹 간에 식습관 및 생활습관을 비교하고, 식습관이 인지된 건강관련 체력수준에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 조사 대상자의 평균 나이는 48.5세로 인지된 건강관련 체력 수준이 '높음' 군의 제지방량이 유의적으로 더 많았다(P<0.05). 혈중지질성분 중에서는 중성지방만이 체력 수준에 따른 유의적인 차이를 보였는데, 인지된 건강관련 체력 수준이 '낮음' 군에서 유의적으로 더 높았다(P<0.05). 생활습관 특성을 분석한 결과 인지된 건강관련 체력 수준이 '높음' 군에서 활력 수준(P<0.001), 주관적인 건강상태(P<0.001), 정기적인 건강검진 여부(P<0.05), 규칙적인 운동 실천(P<0.05) 항목 모두 유의적으로 높았다. 평상시 식습관에 있어서도 인지된 건강관련 체력 수준이 '높음' 군의 식습관 평균 점수가 유의적으로 높았으며(P<0.05), 개별 항목에서도 '일정한 식사 시간(P<0.05)', '일정한 식사량(P<0.05)', '식사 시 즐거움(P<0.01)', '단백질 섭취 빈도(P<0.05)', '채소 섭취 빈도(P<0.01)', '식욕', '적정한 에너지 섭취(P<0.05)' 항목의 점수가 인지된 건강관련 체력 수준이 '높음' 군에서 유의적으로 높았다. 또한 식습관은 교란 인자를 보정한 회귀분석 결과에서도 인지된 건강관련 체력과 유의적인 양의 상관성(P<0.001)을 보였다. 이상의 결과로 평상시 바람직한 식습관이 인지된 건강관련 체력에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있으며, 중년 여성의 체력 향상을 위해 건강한 식습관의 실천이 필요할 것으로 보인다. 또한 이를 위해 중년 여성의 식생활에 관심을 갖고 올바른 식생활을 실천할 수 있도록 관련 프로그램과 교육의 기회가 마련되어야 할 것으로 사료된다. 본 연구에서 식습관이 인지된 건강관련 체력과 유의적인 관계가 있다는 결과는 그 자체로 의미가 있다고 생각되나 18개 식습관 문항의 평균점수를 독립변수로 처리하여 회귀분석 하였으므로 개별 식습관이 체력수준에 미치는 영향은 보지 못한 연구의 한계점이 있어 추후 분석이 더 요구된다.

식생활 라이프스타일에 따른 외식업체 배달서비스의 품질 지각 및 만족도 연구 (Research on the Consumer's Delivery Service Quality Perception and Satisfaction in Foodservice Industry Based on the Types of Food-related Life-style)

  • 본 연구는 급성장하고 있는 외식업체 배달서비스 시장에 관한 연구로, 배달서비스 품질의 차원을 도출하고, 소비자의 식생활 라이프스타일 따라 외식업체 음식 배달서비스 품질에 대한 차이가 있는지를 실증 분석하고자 하였다. 식생활 라이프스타일에 대한 요인분석 결과 '건강추구형', '유행 추구형', '미각 추구형', '안전 추구형', '편의 추구형'의 5개 요인이 추출되었고, 군집분석 결과 '맛 추구형', '식생활 고관심형', '편의 추구형'으로 분류되었다. 배달서비스 품질은 '음식품질', '경제성', '주문 편의성', '직원품질', '위생', '주문 품질'로 6가지 요인이 도출되었는데 그 중 '음식품질'과 '경제성'에서 소비자 유형별 유의한 차이를 보였다, 또한 '주문 품질', '음식 품질', '위생' 등의 순으로 만족도에 미치는 영향력의 정도가 큰 것으로 나타났다.

A Comparative Understanding of Health Concepts

  • This study explored the understanding of health of people from Korea. Data were collected from a total of eighteen focus groups: Koreans (living in Korea), Korean-Australians, Korean-Americans and Australians. The data were analysed using QSR NUD*IST. The meaning of health varied among people and it was related to differences in age, culture, gender, marital status and perceived health status of individuals. However, there were several themes common to everybody. All groups included aspects of physical, mental, emotional (and spiritual), environmental and social dimensions in their definitions of health. All young single groups placed more emphasis on physical and lifestyle factors whereas mental and emotional aspects and social responsibility were more associated with health among older married groups. Young women in all cultures felt social pressure to 'look good' and the media was perceived as responsible. Men in general associated health with societal roles and social competition. Health was strongly associated with the economy and economic stability for all Korean groups reflecting the recent adverse economic situation in Korea. This information will be of value to health professionals to provide more effective health services and health promotion programs for clients of Korean ethnicity living in multicultural societies like Australia and America.

건강캠퍼스 구축을 위한 건강증진대학사업의 필수영역 및 추진전략 (Essential components and strategies on the health promoting university to create healthy campus)

  • Objectives: Health behaviors among young people group are strongly linked to healthy habit or life style in adulthood. This study performed to explore the essential components and effective strategies to develop the standardized program on healthy campus that could contribute to health status and sustainable health promotion among students, faculty, and staff in university health. Methods: To set up the priority and weighting of essential components and strategies on health promoting university, thirty one professionals who had majored in health promotion were selected for Delphi in Oct. 2011. Results: Barriers to success of the health promoting university were lack of interest and policies, incomplete process of health planning, absence of health-related personnel, and inadequate action plan. Essential components of healthy campus were raising fund, healthy policy, participation, human resource, and health promotion programs. Effective strategies were expanding of health promotion programs to improve lifestyle, improvement of campus environment, planning of healthy campus, development of infrastructure, and building up a healthy and safety campus. Conclusions: Health promoting university services support to achieve academic goal of student and helps to reduce absenteeism of university faculty and staff through the on-campus services that are accessible, student-focused, cost-effective, and high quality.
