Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships of the drinking and smoking behaviors of health science majors to their knowledge of and attitude toward drinking and smoking in an effort to determine the influential factors for their drinking and smoking. Methods: The subjects in this study were 380 selected health science majors in two four-year universities and a three-year college that were respectively located in Seoul and Chungcheong Province. A survey was conducted with structured questionnaires from September 1 to 15, 2015. As for statistical data analysis, a statistical package SPSS 18.0 was utilized. Results: There were significant differences between the male and female students in smoking(p=0.000), and no gender differences were found in drinking(p=0.754). The male students who both drank and smoked outnumbered the female students who did, and the female students who only drank outnumbered the male students who did. And the differences were statistically significant(p=0.000). There were statistically significant differences according to smoking and drinking in relationship with professors(p=0.020), peer relationship(p=0.035), drinking attitude(p=0.033, smoking knowledge(p=0.008) and smoking attitude (p=0.006). The factors that affected drinking were religion and the drinking of fathers, and the factors that exerted an influence on smoking were gender, academic year, form of residence, religion and the smoking of family. Conclusions: A lot of temperance and antismoking education programs should be provided for college students in their early school years in the form of peer teaching and in association with their major classes. Besides, they should be encouraged to join clubs related to temperance and antismoking, and professors should try to facilitate their relationship building.
The purpose of this study was to examine the smoking-related characteristics of health and non-health related majors and the relationship between the smoking dependence and oral health practice of college students. The subjects in this study were the college students who were selected by convenience sampling from four different universities in the city of Jeonju, North Jeolla Province. The answer sheets from 811 respondents were analyzed. The findings of the study were as follows: The rate of the smoker students whose major was related to health stood at 20.6 percent, and that of the smoker students whose major was not related to health stood at 29.4%. There were significant differences according to the track of their major (p<0.05). As for links between smoking dependence and a plan to quit smoking, 32.7% of the health-related majors who considered themselves to depend on smoking replied they would give up smoking if there would be a rise in cigarette price (p<0.005), and 37% of the nonhealth related majors who considered themselves to depend on smoking gave the same answer. Thus, the largest group of the students intended to quit smoking if there would be a rise in cigarette price, and there were statistically significant differences according to smoking dependence (p<0.05). Concerning connections between smoking dependence and actual oral health practice, the non-health related majors who didn't consider themselves to depend on smoking got 3.53 in the item whether they brushed their teeth twice or more a day (p<0.05). In conclusion, the development and implementation of systematic programs that are to teach students to stay away from or quit smoking and take care of their oral health regardless of their major are required to step up the oral health promotion of college students.

A body dysmorphic disorder refers to a state that individuals whose external appearance is normal consider their appearance to be meta-morphosed, or think there's something wrong with it, or view a trifle deficiency as severely disfigured. The purpose of this study was to examine the body dysmorphic disorder and depression of health-related and health-unrelated majors in an effort to compare the two groups. And it's also meant to investigate the relationship between body dysmorphic disorder and depression. The subjects in this study were 400 students at K college located in Gangwon Province. Out of them, the major of the 200 students belonged to the health science track, and that of the 200 students didn't. After a self-administered survey was conducted, the answer sheets from 319 respondents were analyzed. As a result, there appeared no differences between the health-related majors and the health-unrelated majors in body dysmorphic disorder. Although there might be various factors to concern body dysmorphic disorder, both groups found themselves to suffer from more depression when they had a severer body dysmorphic disorder, and their body dysmorphic disorder exerted a statistically significant influence on their self-rated depression. Therefore the careful management of body dysmorphic disorder was required, and it's especially needed to make research in that of health-related majors. At the same time, more detailed clinical research efforts should be directed into body dysmorphic disorder and self-rated depression.
This study aims to investigate whether information awareness, search purpose, and search expectations influence information avoidance among university students. The data were collected by using a self-completion questionnaire with convenience sampling of students from one university. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using R 4.2.3. The main results are as follows: First, both search purpose and search expectations exhibited a significant inverse correlation with all information avoidance dependent variables. Second, there was a significant difference in the mean of search expectations across majors, such that science majors had higher search expectations than humanities majors. Third, there were significant differences in the means of the information avoidance-system and information avoidance variables by major, such that both variables had lower means for the science than the humanities group. Fourth, among the independent variables, search expectation had a significant effect on information avoidance-personal: the higher the search expectation variable, the lower the information avoidance-personal variable. This study confirmed that information avoidance should not only consider the psychological, emotional, and affective aspects of information seekers, but also that information seekers' information search purpose and search expectations are predictors of information avoidance.

In this paper, for the purpose of preparing some fundamental data on the development of the eye-health education program and conducting a practical application, the degree of request for the eye-health education were investigated by surveying 304 undergraduate students. The relationship between the degree of request for the eye-health education and sex, the division of major, and the experience of eye-health education was examined by SAS and $X^2$-test of questionnaire. The degree of request of undergraduate students for the eye-health education was as high as 86.51%. There was no statistical significant difference dependence on their experience of the eye-health education or their sex. There was significant difference dependence on their major. Specially, the degree of request of natural science, medical and health science majors was higher than any other majors.
