치과위생사의 심리적 임파워먼트가 직무태도 및 이직의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Impact of Psychological Empowerment on Job Attitudes and Turnover Intention of Dental Hygienists)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine impacts of psychological empowerment of dental hygienists who were employed to dental hospital or clinic on organizational commitment, job satisfaction and turnover intention as strong predictors of turnover rate. Major findings in this study include that the more psychological empowerment increase, the more job satisfaction and organizational commitment will increase, which can decrease turnover intention after all. This result indicates that the managers of dental hospital and clinic should perceive that the consistent management effort to improve psychological empowerment can increase job satisfaction, and finally will increase the organizational commitment that means the loyalty to organization.

  • 본 연구는 관상동맥질환자의 건강 임파워먼트, 건강행위이행, 삶의 질의 관련성을 확인하고, 관상동맥질환자의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향요인을 확인하고자 시도된 서술적 조사연구이다. 자료수집은 S시 종합병원의 순환기내과에서 관상동맥질환을 진단받고 외래를 통해 추후관리를 받고 있는 180명을 대상으로 시행되었다. 자료분석은 SPSS Win. 20.0 프로그램을 사용하여 기술통계, t-test, one-way ANOVA, 사후검증으로 Scheffe test, 피어슨 상관관계, 다중회귀분석을 하였다. 연구결과 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인은 건강행위이행, 성별, 건강 임파워먼트, 학력으로 설명력은 23.4%였다(F=5.17, p=.024). 본 연구결과를 통해 관상동맥질환자의 삶의 질을 높이기 위해서는 건강행위이행과 건강임파워먼트를 높일 수 있는 중재 프로그램 개발이 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

  • Purposes: Despite a lot of prior studies on psychological empowerment on positive outcomes, the objectives of this paper were to examine the role of psychological empowerment on informal learning and the mediation role of informal learning between psychological empowerment and outcome variables focused upon physical therapists working in hospital industry. Methodology: Using survey methods, the data were collected from 198 physical therapists who have worked in Ulsan city and attended in annual meeting. Findings: Results showed that psychological empowerment predicted informal learning positively but differences in mediational mechanism. Specifically, the path between psychological empowerment and proactive behavior partially mediated but no mediating effect between psychological empowerment and helping behavior. This study identified the main role of psychological empowerment on informal learning, and it expands on positive functions of the concept to learning area in organizations. The other results help advanced understanding of differential mechanism through informal learning in the process between psychological empowerment and both outcomes. Practical Implications: The current study contributes to expend the area of prior findings on psychological empowerment to learning activities implemented by individual volunteer effort. For hospitals operating the teams of physical therapy, the significance for considering psychological empowerment is highlighted as for individual growth related to job and for change behavior in the individual level.

정신장애인가족의 임파워먼트와 자기옹호 증진을 위한 프로그램의 효과 (The Effectiveness of Program to Promote Empowerment and Self-Advocacy of the Mentally Disabled Persons' Families)

  • Purpose: This study was to verify the effectiveness of group program for promoting empowerment and self-advocacy of the the mentally disabled persons' families. Methods: This program was set up for the mentally disabled persons' families to share their experiences, do consciousness raising, advocate themselves through group process. A pre-post control group design was used for this study. Results: The results of this study verified that group program was effective to promote empowerment and self advocacy of the mentally disabled persons' families. Also group program helped to express and ventilate family burden actively. Conclusion: This study suggests as follows. In the mental health social work practice we need to develop group programs for family to talk about themselves, to ventilate their emotions, to understand their circumstances and to initiative the change of mental health circumstances as well as education and coping skills about mental illness. For this, there is a need for mental health social worker to have a macroscopic viewpoint and work with family. Also there is a need for mental health social worker to promote family self-help groups and to support their construction and growth.

공감리더십과 구조적 임파워먼트 중심의 지지적 업무환경이 간호사 직무만족에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Supportive Work Environment on the Job Satisfaction of Registered Nurses : Resonant Leadership and Structural Empowerment)

  • Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the effects of resonant leadership and structural empowerment on the job satisfaction of registered nurses working in hospitals. Methods : Data were surveyed from 307 nurses in three general hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do using self-administered questionnaires from March 15 to 31, 2016. We conducted t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 21.0 for analysis. Results : Resonant leadership and structural empowerment had significant effect on the job satisfaction of nurses. These two attributes of a quality work environment explained 45.3% and 40.1% of the variance in organizational and opportunity satisfaction while controlling for age, marital status, religion, education, work department, work type, career and work position. Conclusions : The findings of this study suggest that resonant leaders and structural empowerments contribute to nurse job satisfaction. Therefore, developing resonant leadership skills and structural empowerment among nurse leaders in hospitals will ensure the creation of healthy work environments that promote job satisfaction and retention of nurses.

병원 간호사의 감정노동, 임파워먼트, 직무소진 및 이직의도 간의 관계 (The Relationship of Emotional Labor, Empowerment, Job Burnout and Turnover Intention of Clinical Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships among emotional labor, empowerment, job burnout, and turnover intention. Methods: The design of this study was a cross-sectional descriptive study. The subjects of this study were 358 nurses working for over 6 months in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The data were collected from 4th to 30th of September, 2009 through one-to-one interviews. Survey data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression. Results: We find the positive correlation of turnover intention with emotional labor and with job burnout, but the negative correlation of empowerment with job burnout and with turnover intention. The nurses' turnover intention scores were relatively low with 1.30. Job burnout, shift work, and frequency of turnover were predictors of turnover intention. The most powerful predictor variable was job burnout (${\beta}$=.420, p<.001). We find that emotional labor and empowerment as determinants of turnover intention are not significant. Conclusion: These results suggest that manager should consider shift work of nurses and job burnout in order to manage nurse organization and resource effectively.

양육스트레스와 임파워먼트가 장애아동 주양육자의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Child-rearing Stress and Empowerment on Quality of Life in Caregivers of Children with Disabilities)

  • Purpose: This study was designed to identify how parenting stress and empowerment affect the quality of life in caregivers of children with disabilities. Methods: Caregivers assuming parenting responsibilities for children with disabilities under 18 yr of age were recruited at 8 local welfare centers, homes for children with disabilities, and parent associations in U city. They were asked to complete a questionnaire in a face to face interview or by self-report, and 265 data units were analyzed with stepwise multiple regression. Results: Parenting stress, empowerment and monthly income were statistically significant explaining 39% of the variance. Among the subconstructs of parenting stress and empowerment, parental distress ($\beta=-.42$, t=-6.45) and competence ($\beta=.30$, t=3.59) significantly influenced quality of life. Among the general characteristics, monthly income ($\beta=.10$, t=2.01) was found to be significantly related to quality of life. Conclusion: Nurses who work with children with disabilities and their caregivers need to focus on parental distress and competence to improve the quality of life of caregivers and to stimulate development in children with disabilities.

지방의료원 중간관리자의 진정성 리더십이 조직몰입과 직무만족에 미치는 영향과 심리적 임파워먼트의 매개효과 (Mediating Effect of Psychological Empowerment on the Relationship of Middle Managers' Authentic Leadership with the Staff's Organizational Commitment and Job Satisfaction at the Local Medical Center)

  • Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the mediating effect of psychological empowerment on the relationship of middle managers' authentic leadership with the staff's organizational commitment and job satisfaction at the Local Medical Center. Methods : The data were collected from 273 staff from the four Local Medical Centers in Chungnam Province using self-administered questionnaires. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical multiple regression with the SPSS 23.0 program. Mediation analysis was performed according to the Sobel test. Results : Middle managers' authentic leadership had a significant positive effect on the job satisfaction and psychological empowerment of staff. Additionally, psychological empowerment showed mediating effects in the relationships among authentic leadership and organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Conclusions : To promote staff's organizational commitment and job satisfaction, it is necessary to build effective strategies to develop middle managers' authentic leadership and to promote empowering programs for the staff.

역량강화 건강관리 프로그램이 도시독거노인의 자아존중감과 삶의 질에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of an Empowerment Health Management Program on Self-esteem and the Quality of Life for the Urban Elderly)

  • Objectives: The purpose was to test the effect of an empowerment health management program on self-esteem and the quality of life for the elderly who live in cities. Methods: Forty-three elders were randomly assigned to either the experimental group that received the intervention to participate in one year's empowerment practice (one home visiting per week and phone counselling) (n=21) or to the control group that got home visiting only (n=22). The data was analyzed using ANCOVA. Results: There was no significant difference in the self-esteem score between the two groups after the intervention. But the quality of life score of the experimental group was significantly different from that of the control group after the intervention. Conclusions: The health management intervention using empowerment for the elderly living alone with chronic diseases in urban areas had positive effects on the quality of life. Therefore this intervention can be broadly applied to other elders living alone with chronic diseases in urban areas.

중환자실 간호사의 심리적 임파워먼트와 의료관련감염 관리의 인지도 및 수행도 (Awareness and Performance of Healthcare-Associated Infections Control and Psycological Empowerment of Intensive Care Unit Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to examine psychological empowerment and awareness and performance of Healthcare-Associated Infections(HAIs) control among Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses. Method: The data for this study were collected using structured questionnaires from 178 nurses working in the ICUs of four hospitals with more than 500 beds. Results: The subjects'psychological empowerment, awareness and performance of HAIs control were mean over. The subjects'psychological empowerment showed statistically significant differences depending on age, marital status, academic background, clinical career, ICU career, and position and experience in infection control among their general characteristics. Awareness of HAIs control showed statistically significant differences depending on age, gender, marital status, clinical career, and ICU career. Performance showed statistically significant differences depending on age, gender, marital status, and, ICU career. Regarding the subjects' performance of HAIs control, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between psychological empowerment and awareness. Conclusion: It was found that it is necessary to strengthen differential customized training according to the subjects'characteristics for effective HAIs control, and to strengthen the nurses'awareness of HAIs control through systematic evaluation, monitoring, and feedback, as well as continuous education and training.
