  • The main purpose of this research was to provide an example of a scientific and systematic approach to designing nurses' uniforms. Uniforms for the staff nurses and head nurses at Korea University Medical Centers were designed through the following four steps: research and analyses, design direction establishment, design presentation, and final decision. For the research and analyses, a focused group interview with 14 head nurses were conducted before the actual questionnaires were formed and distributed to 200 nurses at the medical centers. The data collected from 182 among 200 subjects were able to be used for the statistical analyses. As a result, the majority of nurses were not satisfied with the present nurse uniforms. They preferred pants to skirts, and straight pants to tapered pants. Blouses or jackets that slightly cover hips with sleeves reaching above the wrists were also preferred. Many respondents wanted uniforms that were practical and easy to manage. The ideal image of nursing uniforms were feminine, lively, active, light, cool, simple, and modern. According to the research and analyses result, design directions were established and uniform designs were presented to head nurses. Uniforms were designed based on symbols of Korea University and Korea University Medical Centers. Colors including white, pink, and grey were selected to represent the ideal image of nursing uniforms designated by the respondents. Fabrics including polyester(95%) and spandex(5%) blends, polyester(48%), rayon(48%), and spandex(4%) blends, and cotton(100%) were used for making garment samples. Final designs were decided by selecting and modifying the designs presented to the head nurses.

  • In this study, random flow field in a nonstationary porous formation is characterized through cross covariances of the velocity with the log conductivity and the head. The hydraulic head and the velocity in saturated aquifers are found through stochastic analysis of a steady, two-dimensional flow field without recharge. Expression for these cross covariances are obtained in quasi-analytic forms all in terms of the parameters which characterize the nonstationary conductivity field and the average head gradient. The cross covariances with a Gaussian correlation function for the log conductivity are presented for two particular cases where the trend is either parallel or perpendicular to the mean head gradient and for separation distances along and across the mean flow direction. The results may be of particular importance in transport predictions and conditioning on field measurements when the log conductivity field is suspected to be nonstationary and also serve as a benchmark for testing nonstationary numerical codes. Keywords : cross covariance, nonstationary conductivity field, saturated aquifer, stochastic analysis.

  • In understranding the essence of the Korea traditional Architecture, it is important to consider the jointing methods of architectural members, architectural technologies, etc. Especially the purpose of this study is understanding on the Jointing Method of Wooden Members in the period of Unified Silla Architecture. It's conclusion is summarized as follows. 1. A section of column has very close to do with the foundation stone. The structures of foundation stone and column are generally concluded by butt joint, arrow-head joint, housed joint by Grang-e method. Judu is structured by arrow-head joint And, in general, beam is structured by Sagaematchum Chumcha and sagaljudu of Don direction. At the head of Pyungju and the body of Goju, Changbang is structed by Jangbumachum with arrow-head joint or by jumukchang-machum. Also, it is surmised that Gyisoseum and Anssolim methods had been applied to columns from former ages. The example can be found at Bagjae Mireuksaji stone pagoda. Bagjae Mireuksaji stone pagoda taking wooden-pagoda form adopts Gyisoseum and Anssolim methods. We can also find such a sort of methods from other stone constructions like Budo, etc. 2. Injahwaban is structured by short Changbumachum with arrowed-head joint at upper members, and by Anjangmachum at the lower part. This sort of Gongpo style can be seen in the mural painting of tomb of Koguryo and in Buplyungsa, Buplyunsa, Bupkisa-located in Japan, which are influenced by Bakjae or Unified Silla. It is considered that at the end of the late United Silla, Injawhaban had been replaced with Chumcha and Soro on the Pyungbang under influence of Dapo style from China.

  • As smart environment is spread out in our living environments, the needs of an approach related to Human Computer Interaction(HCI) is increases. One of them is head pose estimation. it related to gaze direction estimation, since head has a close relationship to eyes by the body structure. It's a key factor in identifying person's intention or the target of interest, hence it is an essential research in HCI. In this paper, we propose an approach for head pose estimation with pre-defined several directions by random forest classifier. We use canny edge detector to extract feature of the different facial image which is obtained between input image and averaged frontal facial image for extraction of rotation information of input image. From that, we obtain the binary edge image, and make two accumulated histograms which are obtained by counting the number of pixel which has non-zero value along each of the axes. This two accumulated histograms are used to feature of the facial image. We use CAS-PEAL-R1 Dataset for training and testing to random forest classifier, and obtained 80.6% accuracy.

  • Background: Massive rotator cuff tears (MRCTs) with subscapularis (SSC) tears cause severe shoulder dysfunction. In the present study, the influence of SSC tears on three-dimensional (3D) shoulder kinematics during scapular plane abduction in patients with MRCTs was examined. Methods: This study included 15 patients who were divided into two groups: supraspinatus (SSP) and infraspinatus (ISP) tears with SSC tear (torn SSC group: 10 shoulders) or without SSC tear (intact SSC group: 5 shoulders). Single-plane fluoroscopic images during scapular plane elevation and computed tomography (CT)-derived 3D bone models were matched to the fluoroscopic images using two-dimensional (2D)/3D registration techniques. Changes in 3D kinematic results were compared. Results: The humeral head center at the beginning of arm elevation was significantly higher in the torn SSC group than in the intact SSC group (1.8±3.4 mm vs. -1.1±1.6 mm, p<0.05). In the torn SSC group, the center of the humeral head migrated superiorly, then significantly downward at 60° arm elevation (p<0.05). In the intact SSC group, significant difference was not observed in the superior-inferior translation of the humeral head between the elevation angles. Conclusions: In cases of MRCTs with a torn SSC, the center of the humeral head showed a superior translation at the initial phase of scapular plane abduction followed by inferior translation. These findings indicate the SSC muscle plays an important role in determining the dynamic stability of the glenohumeral joint in a superior-inferior direction in patients with MRCTs.

  • Objective. Disc displacement may affect the joint space narrowing between condyle head and glenoid fossa. This study was designed to evaluate the correlation between the joint space change and the directions of disc displacement. Study Design. Two hundreds temporomandibular joints MR images of TMD patients (170 joints) and asymptomatic volunteers (30 joints) were evaluated for this purpose. Anterior disc displacement was divided into 3 stages (normal, little to mild, and moderate to severe displacement) based on sagittal images. And sideways displacement was classified as 3 categories (center, medial and lateral displacement) based on coronal images, then joint spaces were measured at medial, central and lateral parts of condyle head on coronal MR images, respectively. The joint spaces of 7 groups divided according to the severity and the direction of disc displacement were compared. Results. The reduction of the joint space was affected by sideways disc displacement at the opposite side of the condyle head, except the cases accompanied with severe anteriorly and laterally displaced disc. Conclusion. The sideways disc displacement affected on the opposite side temporomandibular joint space width.

  • Recently, service area has been emerging field f robotic applications. Even though assistant robots play an important role for the disabled and the elderly, they still suffer from operating the robots using conventional interface devices such as joysticks or keyboards. In this paper we propose an efficient computer interface using real-time eye-gaze tracking system. The inputs to the proposed system are images taken by a camera and data from a magnetic sensor. The measured data is sufficient to describe the eye and head movement because the camera and the receiver of a magnetic sensor are stationary with respect to the head. So the proposed system can obtain the eye-gaze direction in spite of head movement as long as the distance between the system and the transmitter of a magnetic position sensor is within 2m. Experimental results show the validity of the proposed system in practical aspect and also verify the feasibility of the system as a new computer interface for the disabled.

  • A novel jamming detection technique to detect the presence of jamming in the downstream direction for cluster based wireless sensor networks is proposed in this paper. The proposed technique is deployed in base station and in cluster heads. The proposed technique is novel in two aspects: Firstly, whenever a cluster head receives a packet it verifies whether the source node is legitimate node or new node. Secondly if a source node is declared as new node in the first step, then this technique observes the behavior of the new node to find whether the new node is legitimate node or jammed node. In order to monitor the behavior of the existing node and new node, the second step uses two metrics namely packet delivery ratio (PDR) and received signal strength indicator (RSSI). The rationality of using PDR and RSSI is presented by performing statistical test. PDR and RSSI of every member in the cluster is measured and assessed by the cluster head. And finally the cluster head determines whether the members of the cluster are jammed or not. The CH can detect the presence of jamming in the cluster at member level. The base station can detect the presence of jamming in the wireless sensor network at CH level. The simulation result shows that the proposed technique performs extremely well and achieves jamming detection rate as high as 99.85%.

  • Recently, the demand for demolition of unnecessary steel shell structure is increasing due to deterioration and unsatisfactory functional conditions and the issue of demolition is becoming a major highlight. This execution case was intended to describe an application of the felling method, a explosive demolition method to demolish steel shell structures, for the demolition of a steel stack and steel head tank. As a result of the explosive demolition, the steel stack and steel head tank had collapsed precisely according to the estimated direction. And the explosive demolition was completed without causing any damage to surrounding facilities.
