This study investigated the relations among a child's emotionality, mother's depression and parenting behaviors in predicting a child's happiness. Participants were 384 children(175 boys, 209 girls) and their mothers. The teachers completed the rating scale to measure a child's happiness. A child's emotionality, mother's depression and parenting behaviors were assessed by a mother-reported questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlations, and hierarchical multiple regressions. Results showed that child's emotionality was negatively related to their happiness. Mother's depression had a negative relation to child's happiness. Mother's warmth-encouragement, overprotection-permission, and reject-nonintervention was significantly related to a child's happiness. Hierarchical regression analysis indicated that the interaction of child's emotionality and mother's reject-nonintervention predicted child's happiness. Child's emotionality, whose mother demonstrated a higher level of reject-nonintervention, was associated significantly with happiness. In addition, the association between mother's depression and child's happiness was mediated by mother's warmth-encouragement and reject-nonintervention. Results suggest the importance of mother's role in the context of intervention planning for child's happiness.

Though Korea has received attention through an exceptional economic growth and the big K-POP fever all over the world, its happiness level is not so high. Therefore, this research aims to find not only the Korean' s condition of the happiness and unhappiness, but also the way to enhance their happiness. We collected various web data(89,127 cases from 2013/01 to 2014/12) through searching our own 26 keywords based on Alderfer's ERG Theory. Also, we tried to analyze the subjects related to happiness and unhappiness by using LDA topic modeling. As the result, the condition of happiness and unhappiness were the top topics extracted from each field. We conducted the second detailed analysis based on the data of condition of the happiness and unhappiness which are the top topics of the previous analysis. From the second analysis result, we proposed several ways to enhance happiness from the perspective of government, corporate, family, education, social welfare. This paper is meaningful because it catches the condition of happiness and unhappiness based on a real web data as well as transform the data into the knowledge. Also, this paper provides the practical methods from the view from all walks of life that may enhance happiness and relieve unhappiness.
Objective: The purpose of the study was to examine the direct effects of parent-adolescent communication and its indirect effects through adolescent friendship quality on happiness among both middle and high school students. Methods: Participants in this study were 1,126 adolescents (667 middle school students and 459 high school students) in Seoul and Gyoung-gi Do. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires for adolescents, which included measures of parent-adolescent communication, friendship quality and happiness. Data were analyzed by t-tests, correlations, and SEM using SPSS 22.0 and Mplus 6.0. Results: For middle school students, father-adolescent communication had direct and indirect effects on happiness. However, mother-adolescent communication did not directly or indirectly affect adolescent happiness. Specifically, only father-adolescent communication had an significant indirect effect through friendship quality on adolescent happiness. For high school students, father-adolescent communication had direct effects on happiness, while mother-adolescent communication had significant indirect effects on adolescent happiness via friendship quality. Conclusion: This study underscores the importance of parent-adolescent communication and friendship quality in predicting adolescent happiness with differences in direct and indirect paths between middle and high school students. These findings emphasize the role of parent-adolescent communication and friendship quality in developing programs to improve the happiness of adolescents.

As people's income rises dramatically, people's happiness seems not as high as expected. In fact, there are two different arguments about the relationship between income level and happiness. The focus of the debate is whether the correlation between income and probability of happiness is positive or negative. Therefore, we hypothesizes that the relationship between income and probability of happiness presents an inverted U-shaped curve. Then, this paper sets China as an example to explore the effect of income on happiness. The data from the Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS) in 2015 is employed to conduct empirical analyses under the Probit model and the Zero-Inflation-Passion model. The empirical findings indicate that the effect of income on happiness presents an inverted U-shaped curve and significantly in statistic. Meanwhile, spouse's income, educational level, marriage time and house property have a positive and significant effect on happiness. Conversely, age and local living standards have a negative and significant effect on happiness. Unfortunately, even though registered residence and children have a negative effect on happiness, they do not get through the significant test. In order to ensure the robustness of our empirical results, we test the robustness of the above empirical results by adjusting the sample size. The results of robustness test verify that our empirical results are robust. Moreover, this paper also makes a small contribution to the current literature with a sample from China.

Purpose: This study was conducted to provide basic data on the nursing Happiness Index and identify factors influencing nurses by describing their perception of lifestyle, health behavior, nursing professionalism, Happiness Index, and turnover intention. Methods: On July 2012, 700 nurses from 10 general hospitals were surveyed, but 23 were omitted due to missing or incomplete data. The focus of this study was the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Happiness Index, consisting of 11 OECD identified topics concerning living conditions and quality of life. Data were analyzed using $x^2$-tests, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with SPSS/WINdow 14.0. Results: Mean score for nurses' Happiness Index was 3.03 on a scale of 5. There were significant differences on the Happiness Index for the following: age, marriage, children, education, position, work experience, wages, number of beds, medical institution, health behavior, weight, and meal patterns. There was a positive correlation between the happiness index and nursing professionalism but a negative correlation between the happiness index and turnover intention. Conclusion: Results indicate that factors influencing happiness are autonomy, sense of calling and turnover intention suggesting the need to improve nursing professionalism for a life of happiness among hospital nurses.
The purpose of this research was analyzing pre-post change of concept recognition structure about happiness and activity in which medical school students feel happiness, in order to develop such curriculum accordingly. Research subjects included a total of 36 sophomores attending medical school, and a day reconstruction method and network analysis were applied. According to the research finding, while medical school students were experiencing a lot of happiness while eating/talking and doing leisure activities, the frequency of feeling happiness through learning activities was shown to be low. Words that expressed happiness before and after were similar in many parts and 'economy' showed the highest degree centrality before and 'work' showed the highest degree centrality after. Because the structure of the concept about happiness was divided from 1 group into 4 groups including one's work, positive self, health of family, value about life etc., perception of the concept about happiness was changed from the concept about superficial happiness to the concept about actual happiness. Therefore, in order for prospective doctors who will treat human health to establish the concept and value about happiness properly, education about happiness is necessary and for this, curriculum related to happiness must be developed systematically.
Purpose - With the economic development in China, the lifestyle of Chinese customers has changed dramatically. Chinese customers are more likely to have coffee in a shop with the ability to make them happy than those with high quality coffee in a nice physical environment. Happiness becomes a critical driver of customers' intention to purchase a cup of coffee in a specific coffee shop again and again. As a result, happiness becomes an important factor for managers to make strategies for attracting customers. Although managers and scholars pay more attention to emphasize the importance of happiness in customers' consumption, little research has been conducted to investigate the relationship between happiness and coffee shop's continuous usage intention in the Chinese coffee industry. Research design, data, and methodology - A research model is made to explain the impact of happiness on customer's behavior. To understand the influence of happiness better, we consider two dimensions of happiness which are subjective well-being and psychological well-being. In order to confirm the relationships of the variables in the research model, the online survey is constructed in China. Customers who have experienced the services in a coffee shop are asked to do the questionnaire. With 453 reliable questionnaires, structural equation modeling is used to analyze the causal relationships of the coffee quality, physical environment, subjective well-being, psychological well-being, and continuous usage intention. Results - Results indicate that coffee quality and physical environment are not the direct factors that influence customers' continuous usage intention. However, good coffee quality and physical environment are the significant predictors of Chinese customers' happiness associated with subjective well-being and psychological well-being, which in turn affects customers' continuous usage intention. Conclusions - In this study, it is proposed that coffee quality and physical environment may be the key factors influencing customers' happiness. Happiness, including subjective well-being and psychological well-being matters in decision making process. More importantly, happiness increases the continuous usage intention when the coffee shop can serve customers with higher quality coffee at a good atmospheric place. Managers should consider happiness as an important factor in making marketing strategies to compete in this industry.
Happiness research has primarily been conducted based on the American model of happiness. The agentic concept of happiness in the West emphasizes the positive feeling state stemming from individual achievement and positive interpersonal relationships. However, previous studies on lay theories of happiness in other East Asian countries, such as China and Japan, have suggested that these meanings of happiness differ from those of the Western cultural context. The present study examined the lay theory of happiness among Koreans using qualitative and quantitative approaches. Furthermore, the authors compared the Korean model of happiness with that of the Japanese and Americans from Uchida and Kitayama (2009). The findings from the present research indicate that the Korean model of happiness involves both positive and negative states and consequences of happiness, unlike the uniformly positively connoted happiness in Western cultural contexts. The paper concludes with a discussion of the implications of the current findings on happiness research in the Korean culture.

In this study, subjects as "more than 4th grade of elementary school to less than a high school students". A sampling of the group was completed using a pre-percentage assignment and the data was analyzed according to gender and grade. The primary research method employed was internet research, and questionnaires were used as a secondary method of collecting information. The final analysis used 1.046 (final response rate 83.4%). The results of the present study were classified into the following four parts: social network and the characteristics of youths' subjective happiness; leisure activities according to the type of social network; differences in the level of subjective happiness organized according to the type of leisure activity; and the relative influence of variables that affect the level of subjective happiness. In conclusion, there is a strong correlation between social relationships, leisure activities, and youth's subjective happiness. An analysis of the difference in the level of subjective happiness according to the type of leisure activities of adolescents confirmed that the type of active participation in leisure and the type of indoor and outdoor activities variety were the highest in terms of contributing to the level of subjective happiness. Generally, a discussion of how the existing leisure life affects the subjective happiness of young people needs to be taken one step further. This difference was significant because the level of subjective happiness was confirmed according to the type of leisure activities. In addition, this study determined that leisure activities have an effect on subjective happiness and positively impact young people.
