In this paper, we propose a double talk and noise robust acoustic echo canceler for hands-free telephony applications. The proposed system includes a double-talk detection method that detects the double-talk durations, which uses covariance between microphone input signa and estimated microphone input signal. And proposed adaptive algorithm for estimating acoustic echo path, uses normalized auto-covariance matrix of input signal with multiplication of residual error power and projection order of AP(affine projeciton) algorithm. It is confirmed that the proposed algorithm shows better performance from acoustic interference cancellation (AIC) viewpoint in double talk and noisy environments.

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the necessity of distant pedicled flap in the treatment of soft tissue defects in the hand. Materials and Methods: Distant pedicled flap was performed in the 25 hands of 25 patients from 2000 to 2004. There were 20 males and 5 females and mean age was 34 years. The surgery was done for electrical burns in 13 patients, flame burns in 8 patients and crushing injuies in 4 patients. Results: We have performed 25 distant pedicled flaps for the coverage of soft tissue defects in the hands when local and free flaps were unavailable. Soft tissue coverages by distant pedicled flap were completely successful in all the 25 hands. No complication such as total flap loss, marginal flap loss and infection occurred. Conclusion: Distant pedicled flaps were very useful alternative method in the treatment of soft tissue defect in the hand.

In this research the Co-simulation technique for an electric power steering system with MATLAB/SIMULINK and a full vehicle model with ADAMS has been developed. The dynamic responses of vehicle chassis and steering system are evaluated. Then, a full vehicle model interacted with EPS control is concurrently simulated with an impulsive steering wheel torque input to analyze the stability of 'free control' or hands free motion for Sports Utility Vehicle. This integrated method allows engineers to reduce the prototype testing cost and to shorten the developing period.

Campylobacter jejuni has been recognized as one of the causes of human gastroenteritis. The feces of a variety of reservoir animals contain c. jejuni as commensals in the intestinal tracts, and are fundamental source of contamination. The intestinal organisms contaminate carcasses, equipment tools hands of the processing line workers and air of the processing facility. Once the contamination happens in the slaughterhouses or the meat processing facilities, it is very difficult to keep the carcasses free from the infection of c. jejuni. Various disinfectants are effective in minimizing the number of Campylobacter infections in the processing facilities by washing contaminated carcasses, tools, and hands. Direct contact with infected animals has been incriminated in transmission of infection caused by C. jejuni. Freezing, cooling with dry air and gamma irradiation are an effective way for preserving the meat and eliminating the transmission, but broad and enforced studies are needed for the practical use.

A manipulator is operated for the motion of mechanical hands or arms. When a cup including liquid inside is shifted by a manipulator, it is important to know how a free surface of the liquid moves. In this study, non dimensional parameters have been found that affect the rise of the free surface in a cup moving with constant acceleration. The non-dimensional parameters are the dimensionless time, the ratio of inertia effect to viscous effect (the Reynolds number), aspect ratio of the liquid inside the cup and the acceleration ratio (the Froude number). Through this study, the height of the free surface rise in a cup has been predicted and the detailed velocities in the liquid have been examined. Generally, the maximum rise of the free surface is dependent on the Reynolds number and Froude number strongly, but on the aspect ratio weakly. However, the influence of the aspect ratio on the maximum rise of the free surface is not negligible in the range of 10 < Re < 100.

Purpose: To report the results and the efficacy of the sensory bearing scapular free flap which is known as non-sensible flap. Materials and Methods: Authors underwent 24 cases of sensory bearing scapular free flap to the hands and feet from March 1995 to November 2002. average follow-up period was six year three months. The used flaps were a ordinary scapular flap in fifteen cases, and a parascapular flap in nine. Sensibility of the flaps were checked every one month. Actual sensory evaluation was mostly depends on objective feeling of the patients. Two point discrimination test was performed in all cases. Results: 23 flaps had good skin circulation after microvascular anastomosis among 24. Objective deep touch sensation were observed about three months later after the operation in three cases, between three and six months in nine. In three case whose results were excellent than others, two point discrimination was 2.7 cm at last follow-up. Most of the sensory recovery is confined in deep touch, temperature and light touch sensation was recovered limitedly in 3 cases during our follow-up period. Conclusion: Authors can propose that sensory bearing free scapular flap was considered as one of useful methods for the reconstruction to hand with soft tissue defect and mutilating hand.

The market of digital avatar with internet and digital technology is increasing rapidly. The users want to express any free-formed motion of their avatars in the cyber space. The user s motion capturing method as the avatar's motion can express any free-formed motion of the avatar in real-time but the methods are expensive and inconvenient. In this paper, we proposed a new method of expressing any free-formed motion of the avatar in real-time. The proposed method is an algorithm for real-time control of a 3D avatar in symmetry-formed free motion. Specially, the algorithm aims at the motion control of a 3D avatar for online dancing games. The proposed algorithm uses the skeleton character model and controls any one of two hands of the character model by a joystick with two sticks. In the symmetry-formed motion, the position and orientation of one hand can determine the position and orientation of the other hand. And the position and orientation of a hand as an end-effector can determine the pose of the arm by Inverse Kinematics. So the algorithm can control the symmetry-formed free motions of two arms by one joystick with two sticks. In the dance game, the algorithm controls the arm motion by the joystick and the other motion by the motion captured DB.

An anatomically normal first web space is essential for optimal prehensile movements of the thumb and hand. A 28-year-old woman presented with severe scarring and contractures of the first web space of both hands, following a flame burn injury sustained 25 years prior to presentation. First web space contracture may occur secondary to severe injuries, burns (as observed in our patient), or congenital hand anomalies. A significant amount of additional skin is required to release a severe first web space contracture. Reconstruction of wide areas of contractures using only local flaps is challenging. Among other free flaps used in clinical practice, the thinned lateral arm free flap provides flexible vascularized tissue for reconstruction of the skin after severe first web space contracture release. Reconstruction using lateral arm free flaps facilitated thumb abduction and opposition (which were initially difficult) and improved hand function in our patient.

Today, although most bluetooth hands-free devices within a vehicle provide telephone service functions such as voice communication, caller id display and SMS message display and so on, they do not provide a function that displays Internet-based text data. We need to develop a scheme that displays the internet-based text data including existing hands-free function because the request for using the Internet service is increasing within a vehicle recently. The proposed bluetooth device application includes advanced function such as SNS message arrival notification, the message display function and we chose Android as the implementation mobile platform giving consideration to the fact that most SNS applications operate on Android and the platform is easily embedded into small embedded device. Smartphone or tablet PC connected with the proposed bluetooth device is an Android-based device and we designed a form of Android app for the function implementation of the devices. When the audio-text gateway app receives SNS text data, it extracts title and sender information from the message header information in a form of text data and sends them via ACL (Asynchronous Connection-Oriented) link to the bluetooth device showing the data on the screen. Android-based bluetooth devices are not possible to play voice through speaker because the bluetooth hands-free or headset profile ported within Android platform normally only includes audio gateway's function. The proposed bluetooth device application, therefore, applies the streaming scheme that sends data via ACL link instead of the way that sending them via SCO (Synchronous Connection-Oriented) link.
