Determination of trace bromate in various water samples by direct-injection ion chromatography and UV/Visible detection using post-column reaction with triiodide

  • Bromate is a disinfection by-product generated mainly from the oxidation of bromide during the ozonation and disinfection process in order to remove pathogenic microorganism of drinking water, and classified as a possible human carcinogen by International Agency for Research of Cancer (IARC) and World Health Organization (WHO). For the purpose of determining the trace level concentration of bromate, several sensitive techniques are applied mostly based on suppressed conductivity detection and UV/Visible detection after postcolumn reaction (PCR). In this study, the suppressed conductivity detection method and the PCR-UV/Visible detection method through the triiodide reaction were compared to analyze the trace bromate in water samples and estimated for the availability of these analytical methods. In addtion, the state-of-the-art techniques was applied for the determination of trace level bromate in various water matrices, i.e., soft drinking water, hard drinking water, mineral water, swimming pool water, and raw water. In comparison of two analytical methods, it was found that the conductivity detection had the suitable advantage to simultaneously analyze bromate and inorganic anions, however, the bromate might not be precisely quantified due to the matrix effect especially by chloride ion. On the other hand, the trace bromate was analyzed effectively by the method of PCR-UV/Visible detection through triiodide reaction to satisfactorily minimize the matrix interference of chloride ion in various water samples, showing the good linearity and reproducibility. Furthermore, the method detection limit (MDL) and recovery were 0.161 ㎍/L and 101.0-108.1 %, respectively, with a better availability compared to conductivity detection.

대형 외식업소 조리종사자 위생인지도와 수행도 및 고객 위생만족도 (Foodservice Employees' Awareness and Performance in Sanitation and Customers' Satisfaction with Sanitation at Large-Sized Restaurants)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the foodservice employees' awareness and performance in sanitation and customers' satisfaction with sanitation in large sized restaurants in Korea. Sanitation inspections were carried out in 200 large Korean, Western, Chinese, and Japanese style restaurants, and in buffet-style restaurants in Daegu and Gyeongbuk province. Foodservice employees' awareness of sanitation and customers' satisfaction with sanitation were investigated by interviewing 317 foodservice employees and 205 customers. Results of the inspection of restaurants showed low performance in food handling, employees' hygiene (hygienic) practices, and in cleaning food processing equipment. Scores of the foodservice employees' awareness in Chinese style restaurants were significantly lower than scores of workers in western restaurants. Foodservice employees had low awareness of sanitation procedures used for food storage and cleaning of equipment in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese style restaurants. Foodservice employees had low awareness of equipment cleaning, inspection and food distribution in western style restaurants and of equipment cleaning and food handling in buffet-style restaurants. Foodservice employees at all restaurants had the lowest performance in terms of HACCP. This shows that HACCP application and recording have not yet been properly carried out at restaurants in Korea. Foodservice employees had low performance scores in food handling, vegetable disinfection and disinfection after hand washing. Research on customers' satisfaction with sanitation revealed a low rating of kitchens and foodservice employees at all restaurants. Customers had low satisfaction with servers and kitchen environments in Korean style restaurants with food, tableware, utensils and servers in western style restaurants; with food and kitchen environments in Chinese style restaurants with servers, tableware, and utensils in Japanese style restaurants and with kitchen environments and servers in buffet-style restaurants. Therefore, cleanliness of kitchen facilities and equipment, and hygienic food handling procedures by workers in restaurants are urgently needed.

영상의학과 흉부 엑스선 촬영 기기의 세균 오염도 (Bacteriological Research for the Contamination of Equipment in Chest Radiography)

  • 영상의학과의 흉부엑스선 검사에서 감염관리에 대한 기기의 오염 정도를 세균학적으로 확인하고 균을 동정하여 병원감염의 예방과 감염관리방안을 마련하는데 목적이 있다. 영상의학과 흉부 엑스선 검사에서 환자의 기기 접촉부위인 어깨, 손, 턱, 흉부 측면촬영의 손잡이 부위를 70% 이소프로필 알코올로 소독하기 전과 후를 면봉으로 검체를 채취하여 세균을 동정하여 비교하여 분석하였다. 흉부 엑스선 기기에서 소독전의 측면촬영의 손잡이에서 그람 양성의 Staphylococcus가 분리되었다. 최종동정을 위해 노보바이오신 (nobobiocin) 항생제 시험을 실시하여 민감성으로 Staphylococcus epidermidis로 확정하였다. 흉부촬영 기기에서 측면촬영의 손잡이 부위를 소독 전에 Staphylococcus epidermidis 균이 검출되었다. 흉부엑스선 검사에서 기기를 주기적인 소독 및 멸균을 실시하여 병원감염을 예방하는 관리방안을 마련하여야 한다.

  • Ozonic use of sterilization and heat treatment of raw material to extend the conservation period of food recently is increased by hard vegetable or microorganism sterilization purpose of fruit. This research ran parallel a sterilization experiment of E.coli colitis germs by ozone that manufacture ozonizer that use doped diamond maund electrode (BDD) by boron and searched special quality electrochemistry enemy of the ozonizer and is created. After cultivate E.coli colitis germs during 37C 1 day is LB ship, after do ozonation, was sterilized more than 90% by ozone as result that examine disinfection effect by substance microscope and could confirm excellency of diamond electrode.

병원 감염관리에 대한 실태조사 -간호수기를 중심으로 - (A survey on Hospital Infection)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the methods used in nursing procedures for infection control. Skilled nursing procedures are related to prevention of hospital infection. The sample consisted of 301 nurses’ response to the questionnaire. Data were collected from Feb. to March, 1993 from 35 hospitals located in five major cities. The findings of the study are as follows : 1) Rotatively unsafe nursing procedures were reported for preperation of IV therapy, change of IV site and aseptic dressing on IV site, hand wash-ing and use of paper towels, use of sterile urine bottle with indwelling urinary catheter, management of dressing cart, disinfection of transfer forcep, ambu respirator, laryngoscope, humidifier and handling of incubator. 2) Relatively safe nursing procedures were reported for management of suction tube, marking for contaminated materials and waste collection. The rate of participation in education programs for infection control by the nurses was higher than in other research results. 3) Further study on procedures for IV site in-fusion and care of dressing cart are recommended.

  • 이 시험은 도입남양재 원목에 부착 또는 서식하는 유해병해충의 방제를 목적으로 실시하는 해수수침소독에 있어 농약의 소요량기준을 설정함을 목표로 실시한 것으로써 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 우리나라에 도입되는 남양재 원목의 평균 길이는 11.12m이었으며 직경은 69.55cm이었다. 2. 원목의 전재적에 대한 부상재적은 평균 $20.82\%$ 이었다. 3. 원목의 전재적에 대한 부상표면적의 비의 값은 2.3356($95\%$ 신뢰수준)이었다. 4. 원목의 전재종 대 부상표면적에 대한 표본추출오차는 1본선내 원목간의 오차(0.2087)가 10본선간의 오차(0.2952)보다 적었다. 5. 원목 $1m^2$당 농약의 적정소요량은 수동식살포기를 이용하는 경우 0.368cc, 그리고 동력분무기를 이용하는 경우는 0.295cc이었다. 6. 예를 들어 남양재 원목 $5,000m^3$을 도입하여 동력분무기로 해수수침소독을 실시하는 경우 농약소요량은 다음과 같이 계산된다. $$5,000\;M^3\times2.333=11,678\;M^2$$ $$11,678M^2\times0.295=3,445cc$$.

Implant system에 있어서 치과위생사의 assist work (Assist works as to implant system which dental hygienists perform in a clinical field)

  • This study was attempted in order to look into 'Assist work' as to Implant system which dental hygienists perform in a clinical field. Subjects of this research were 362 dental hygienists who work at general hospital, University hospital, dental hospital, and dental clinics located in Seoul, Kyeong-gi, In-chon, and Jeon-buk area. As to research tool, we produced questionnaire which was comprised of the total 25 items regarding 3 of general features (age, career of dental hygienist, and personality), 6 of implant system assist work, 3 of Informed consent before surgery, 6 of preoperative preparation and maintenance related business, and 7 items related to postoperative maintenance. By using SPSS program, collected data was analyzed. Results of analysis in this study were as follow; 1. As to implant related education, dental hygienists' experience of education was high as 77.7%, and the people who is needed more education was 86.3%. Consequently, dental hygienists' concern about the implant related education was very high. 2. It was observed that most of informed consent making approvement by announcement to the surgical operation was made by dental hygienist before implant as 95%. 3. Over 80% of dental hygienists performed acquisition of cleanliness technology, motivation, back up articles preparation, treatment area arrangement, and etc. which we can check by preoperative maintenance items. In particular, response about the motivation was very high as more than 90%. 4. When performing an operation, in the case of disinfecting finger was low for 53.9% and the method was mainly washing with drug solution, and gown sterilization was performed only in 52.2%. Therefore education regarding disinfection was urgently needed. 5. Significance of education could be known that answers of hygienists experienced education appeared highly in items of maintenance method and there was statistically significant difference(p<0.05). 6. In case that assist work were 21cases or greater, agitation measurement was the most many performed in 68.9% and difference was showed up significantly(p<0.001). 7. Evaluation about periodontal tissue was high in dental hygienists who had experienced education and also there was statistically significant difference. In conclusion, assist work of dental hygienists was very comprehensive when implant surgery was performed, and all of items excluding hand disinfection or gown disinfection were highly showed up in most of hygienists. However, since there is the limit that we didn't investigate the quality of performing contents. It is considered that further study regarding the content has to be progressed for supporting this result in the future.

한우농가의 환경시설관리 및 방역실태 분석 (Analysis of Current Situation for Environmental Facilities and Disinfection in Hanwoo Farms)

  • 본 연구는 한우사육 305 농가에 대하여 우사바닥상태, 습기제거방법, 급이시설, 방역실태 등과 같은 사육환경을 조사 분석하여 환경개선을 통한 효율적인 농장관리 프로그램에 필요한 지표를 설정하고자 실시하였다. 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째는, 한우농가의 우사바닥 상태는 "보통이다" 으로 관리하는 경우가 가장 많았으며(46.4%), 건조한 편 (35.5%)도 많이 있어 비교적 잘 관리되고 있으나, 질척거리는 수준(18.1%)도 많이 있는 것으로 보아 아직도 바닥관리에 톱밥이나 송풍홴을 설치하여 습기를 제거해야 할 것으로 생각된다. 둘째는, 우사바닥 습기제거는 "송풍홴" 을 이용 (36.4%)하는 경우가 가장 많은 것으로 나타나 시설구입이나 에너지 비용을 절감할 수 있는 자연빛이나 통풍을 이용하도록 권장해야 한다. 셋째는, 축사 내 냄새 악취는 "깔짚교체"로(33.7%) 제거하는 경우가 가장 많았으나, 자연송풍 등을 효율적으로 이용하여 환기를 시켜야 할 것으로 생각된다. 넷째는, 여름철 축사내 "송풍홴 설치" 않은 농가 (37.7%)가 비교적 많았는데, 체온조절이나 습기제거용으로 적절히 설치되어야 할 것으로 판단된다. 다섯째는, 사료급이시설은 "수동식" (88.2%)이 가장 많은 것으로 조사되었는데, 자동화시스템으로 전업화 농장 경영관리가 이루어져야 할 것이다. 여섯째는, 농가의 사양관리기술수준은 5점 만점 중 "2.80점" 으로 중등수준으로 평가되고 있어서 경쟁력을 갖춘 기술 습득이 요구된다. 일곱째로, 농장의 방역시설 중 "분무기" 사용 (80.8%) 농가가 가장 많았으나 소독장비가 없는 농가도 3.0%나 되었다. 그리고 "1주 1회" 방역실시 (40.0%) 농가가 가장 많았으나, 방역을 전혀 실시 않는 농가도 5.2%나 되는 것으로 조사되어 방역의 중요성 인식과 최적 방역 프로그램 개발이 더욱 요구된다. 따라서 아직도 열악한 환경에서 사육하는 우리나라 한우농가는 악취, 우사바닥, 송풍, 온도, 방역시스템 등과 같은 사육환경 관리시스템이 효율적으로 구축되어야 할 것으로 생각된다.

일 대학병원 간호사의 다약제 내성균 감염관리지침에 대한 지식과 수행정도 (Hospital Nurses' Knowledge and Compliance on Multidrug-resistant Organism Infection Control Guideline)

  • Purpose: This study was done to investigate nurses' knowledge of, and compliance with the multidrug-resistant organism (MDRO) infection control guidelines. Methods: A survey questionnaire was developed based on the institutional and national guidelines and was administered to a convenience sample of 306 nurses in a university hospital. Results: The mean score for knowledge was 33.87 (percentage of correct answers: 82.61%). The percentages of correct answers for basic concepts, route of transmission, hand washing/protective devices and environment management were 74.27%, 94.29%, 92.90% and 75.54% respectively. The mean compliance score was 4.15 (range: 1-5). The compliance scores for education, communication, contact precaution, disinfection, surveillance culture, and hand washing were 3.29, 4.05, 4.20, 4.50, 4.40 and 4.48 respectively. Nurses indicated "lack of time (30.06%)", "lack of means (10.78%)" and "lack of knowledge (9.48%)" as reasons for noncompliance. Conclusion: While most educational programs have focused on hand washing or use of protective devices to prevent transmission of MDRO in acute care settings, hospital nurses' knowledge of the basic concepts of MDRO and environmental management has remained insufficient. Nurses are relatively non-compliant to the guidelines in the areas of education (staff, patient, family) and communication. Comprehensive educational programs are needed to decrease hospital infection rates and to improve the health of patients.

발효방법에 의한 감염가금의 분해 및 발효소독 특성에 관한 연구 (Investigations on Conditions Required for Decomposition and Disinfection of infected Poultry under Different Fermentation Systems)

  • 전염병발생 감염가금 매몰처리방법은 침출수 및 악취발생 등 환경오염의 원인이 되고 있어 폐사가금의 처리문제가 중요한 현안으로 대두하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 친환경 처리방법으로 감염가금 처리형태와 계분, 톱밥 등을 혼합한 퇴비화방법이 분해특성 및 발효 소독에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 소형 포트시험에서 가금 통처리에 비해 가금을 절단살균 처리한 경우 분해가 잘 되고 악취발생도 상대적으로 적게 나타났으며, 여기에 고온성 미생물을 처리한 경우 조기에 온도는 상승되었으나, 발효포트 규모가 소형으로 온도상승 및 온도지속기간이 길지 않았다. 그러나 절단살균한 가금처리량을 증대하여 중층처리법에 의한 발효시험결과 1일 만에 $54^{\circ}C$까지 온도가 상승되고 이후 4주간 $55^{\circ}C$ 이상 유지되었고, 분해도 잘 되었으며 악취발생도 하우스 외측에서는 경미하게 느끼는 정도인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 발효소독 효과를 알아보기 위하여 AI, ND를 분변에 접종하여 $56^{\circ}C$ 조건에서 바이러스의 증식여부를 조사한 결과 AI virus의 경우 60분 처리, ND의 경우 30훈 처리 이후 생존이 인정되지 않았다. 따라서 전염병 발생지역에서 가금류를 현지 살균한 후 사육장내의 분변, 톱밥 등을 혼합하여 퇴비화한다면 환경오염을 줄이고 발효소독 효과도 높일 수 있을 것으로 예상되어 금후 관련분야에서 퇴비이용 작물재배 적응성, 안전성 등 관련연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.
