An integral transform with the Bessel function Jv(z) in the kernel is considered. The transform is relatd to a singular Sturm-Liouville problem on a half line. This relation yields a Plancherel's theorem for the transform. A Paley-Wiener-type theorem for the transform is also derived.

Using the transmission line model, we have developed a formalism which is fairly accurate and convenient for analyzing the dispersion characteristics of rectangular dielectric waveguides for integrated optics. The fields in open half space regions are expressed as a Fourier integral form. Including all the TE and TM polarized discrete modes in slab waveguide region, our calculation shows that the discrepancies between the previous vectorial wave analysis using one discrete mode and the brute-force numerical analysis for the rectangular dielectric waveguides can be fully reduced with this method.

As a viable alternative to magnetic transformers in the power supply for portable electronics, this paper presents a miniaturized off-line travel adapter or charger for cellular phones using the piezoelectric transformer. Various design considerations in the design of ac PT adapters are investigated before coming up with the proposed pseudo-resonant topology. A prototype hardware design is also presented and verified by simulations and experiments

While a year and a half has been passed since the launch of KTX service, traffic volume of Gyung-bu High Speed Railway is still much lower than the forecasted value. This situation has been badly affecting not only Korail's financial status but also KRNA's general railway construction projects as general public responds negatively to such projects as New Ho-nam Line Construction. This paper outlines traffic volume forecasting methodologies applied to construction of Gyung-bu High Speed Railway, identifies major causes of forecasting deviations. and finally extracts problems through comparison between the forecasted results and actual traffic volume.

A weight ω on the positive half real line [0, ∞) is a positive continuous function such that ω(s + t) ≤ ω(s)ω(t), for all s, t ∈ [0, ∞), and ω(0) = 1. The weighted convolution Banach algebra L1(ω) is the algebra of all equivalence classes of Lebesgue measurable functions f such that ‖f‖ = ∫0∞|f(t)|ω(t)dt < ∞, under pointwise addition, scalar multiplication of functions, and the convolution product (f ⁎ g)(t) = ∫0t f(t - s)g(s)ds. We give a sufficient condition on a weight function ω(t) in order that L1(ω) has a bounded approximate identity.

In this paper, for the bounded solution of the non-densely defined non-autonomous evolution equation, we present the condition for asymptotic periodicity by using the circular spectral theory of functions on the half line and the extrapolation theory of non-densely defined evolution equation.

Jeju power system is connected to the mainland power system through HVDC, and receives about half of required electricity through the HVDC lines. Jeju power system already experienced black out when a generator tripped at the moment of the HVDC line faults. But, UFR operated as was expected when HVDC line fault occurred at that time. As the penetration level of wind turbines increases, it is required to set UFR again considering intermittent wind turbin outputs. In this paper, we address a new way of UFR setting through computer simulation.

This paper proposes a metamaterial (MTM) absorber for 2.45 GHz band applications. The unit cell of the proposed absorber consists of an electric LC (ELC) resonator and a strip line, which are printed on opposite sides of the substrate. The ELC resonator comprises two split ring resonators (SRRs) and a connecting line with a resistor. The designed absorber exhibits an absorption of 94 % and a half-max bandwidth of 0.16 GHz at 2.45 GHz.

In previous structure of single phase LSPM, there is large torque ripple that makes a noise and a vibration by a distortion of flux distribution in air gap. By this reason, the single phase LSPM is not accepted home applications. So, in this paper, we propose new structure of single phase LSPM(Line Start Permanent magnet Motor). The proposed model is reduced a torque ripple about a half than previous model.

A new low cost single stage high power factor electronic ballast for fluorescent lamps is presented in this paper. The proposed topology is based on integration of two-boost converter and LC type high frequency resonant converter. A ballast is obtained by simple construction, because full bridge rectifier diode is eliminated and simple control circuits is applied. Using two boost converter operating positive and negative half cycle respectively at line frequency (60Hz), operating in discontinuous conduction mode performs high power factor. The simulated and experimental results for 64W fluorescent lamps operating at 45kHz switching frequency and 110V line voltage have been obtained.
