Grit, a concept conceived in 2007 by Duckworth and others in the United States, is based on positive psychology that focuses on growth and development through individual strengths. Recently, "Grit", which means patience and enthusiasm for long-term goals, has emerged as a key factor of personality strength. In Korea, Joo-hwan Kim (2013) was the first to conceptualize and study the subject of Grit. However, there have been no overview studies that systematically summarize the overall trends and flow in the research of Grit so far. There have been 147 research papers on Grit published so far in Korea. The purpose of this study was to conduct trend analysis on the subject of Grit by analyzing forty-three (43) master's and doctoral dissertations, thus presenting the direction of future research on Grit through careful analysis. In the studies conducted, it was found that Grit is a very significant variable linked to self-efficacy. It is also a subjective belief that can help an individual achieve his/her educational goals, and go through failure resynchronization. In addition, Grit is very significant as a practical core indicator of how fusion talent is fostered for the fourth industrial revolution. Therefore, there is a need for more in-depth research from the viewpoints of workplace learning, experiential learning, or informal learning, as well as research into Grit characteristics.
The purpose of this study was to compare Grit, failure tolerance and psychological well-being between elementary science gifted and general students. The subjects of this study were 48 science gifted students and 70 general students in the 5th and 6th grade of elementary school in Gyeonggi province. The results of this study were as follows: First, Grit, failure tolerance and psychological well-being of science gifted students were higher than those of the general students, there was a statistically significant difference. Second, science gifted students showed higher correlation between grit and failure tolerance, grit and psychological well-being than general students. Grit of science gifted students had a positive correlation with all sub-factors of academic failure tolerance and psychological well-being. In general students, there was a positive correlation with all sub-factors of Grit, academic failure tolerance, and psychological well-being except for the emotion sub-factor of academic failure tolerance. Thirdly, as a result of the regression analysis on the elements of failure tolerance affecting the Grit, science gifted students showed emotional factor but general students had behavioral factors. Also, as a sub-factor of psychological well-being on Grit, both science gifted and general students showed autonomy.
Grit, defined as "perseverance and passion for long-term goals", is a known personality trait that successfully predicts high performance in various fields. In spite of extant evidence of the effectiveness of grit, research has not yet clarified the relationship between grit and conscientiousness, a highly correlated personality trait. In this study(N = 355), we examined the effect of grit and conscientiousness on academic achievement, mediated by self-determination motivation. As a result, grit and conscientiousness both predicted academic performance, and intrinsic motivation mediated these relationships. However, conscientiousness no longer related with motivation and academic achievement when grit was controlled for, whereas grit maintained its relationship with motivation and achievement even when conscientiousness was controlled. This result indicates that although the two psychological concepts overlap to some extent, grit has a unique motivational and behavioral effect that distinguishes it from conscientiousness. The present study expands the current understanding of grit with its comparison between grit and conscientiousness. We suggest future research ought refine the grit scale to establish its discriminant validity.
The study aimed to investigate the relative levels of grit and their relationship with potential dropping-out and university adjustment of foreign students in Korea. The subjects of this survey were gathered through purposive sampling, and 335 subjects were collected from university students in South Korea. First, the grit was significantly and positively correlated with emotional adjustment, social adjustment, university satisfaction, and academic adjustment, and was negatively correlated with potential dropping-out of university. Drop-out potential is negatively and significantly correlated with all subgroups of university life adjustment. Second, the grit is higher than the mid-point and drop-out potential is very low. Emotional adjustment and university satisfaction are the highest among the subgroups of university life adjustment but social adjustment is the lowest among them. Third, it was found that foreign students in the mid and high grit clusters are lower in mean drop-out potential rates than those in the low grit cluster. And foreign students in the mid and high grit clusters are higher than those students in the low university life adjustment group.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural relationship among self-leadership, grit, and performance.Specifically, self-leadership was selected as an independent variable, two dimensions of grit were selected as mediator variables, and performance was selected as a dependent variable. This structural equation model is based on previous studies.The subjects of this study were middle and high school Taekwondo players, and the survey was collected using the online survey system KSDC (Korean Social-Science Data Center). The sampling method was a non-probability sampling method, convenience sampling method.A total of 367 copies were collected through this process, and 355 copies were used as the final valid samples after excluding the insincere data.Data processing was done with SPSS 23 for frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis. Also, AMOS 21 was used for confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, self-leadership had a positive effect on bothi interest consistency grit and effort persistence grit. Second, it was found that both interest consistency grit and effort persistence grit have a positive effect on performance.Third,self-leadership had a positive effect on performance.

In this paper, to improve the efficiency of pressurized pneumatic grit conveying for ship block open blasting process. Pressurized pneumatic grit conveying is defined as the transportation of grit(abrasive) in a compressed air flow. Total Pressure loss in flexible hose for pneumatic conveying is sum of pressure losses due to gas and grit and needle type pressure transmitter for measured pressure loss. haracteristics of grit open blasting by pneumatic conveying were studied experimentally. Studies variables were blasting nozzle ID, length and ID of flexible hose, grit flow rate, flow rate and pressure of transport air. It was experimentally proved that optimal open blasting condition and cost effective operation regarding grit blasting, obtaining a high qulity surface preparation(Sa $2^{\frac{1}{2}}$).
This paper investigated the impact of grit on sustainable behavior and emotional well-being. A questionnaire about grit, sustainable behavior, and emotional well-being was administered to 273 undergraduate students in South Korea. To examine the association between the variables, this study used two spell out (SEM) comparison models. The results show that grit is positively related to sustainable behavior and emotional well-being. The effect of grit on emotional well-being was mediated by sustainable behavior. The effect of grit is higher on sustainable behavior than emotional well-being. In addition, sustainable behavior has a positive relationship to emotional well-being. The results show that the grit has an important implication for sustainable environment education and individual well-being.

This study was conducted to evaluate the grit removal efficiency of tornado block-type vortex grit separator. Vortex grit separator was manufactured for this study, and it was characterized by the impeller and tornado block installed in separator. Impeller was installed to increase water velocity in the separator and tornado block was installed to increase the grit lifting efficiency. Pilot study was also conducted in A sewage treatment plant (STP) in Gyeonggi province from November 2003 to May 2004 (64 days). Major findings are as follows. 1. Impeller was proven to increase water velocity in the grit separator, especially in low flow rate. This influence will increase separation ratio of organics from grits, preventing those organics from sedimentation. 2. Sand (with 0.2~0.3mm size) removal efficiency was over 98 % and 96 %, at the flow rate of $500m^3/day$ and $750m^3/day$ under the condition that impeller rotation velocity kept at 15 rpm. Originally that grit separator was designed to have the capacity of $500m^3/day$. $750m^3/day$ was tried to investigate the performance of this type of grit separator under overload condition. Stable grit removal was still available to the extent of 150% of designed capacity. 3. It took less than 3 minutes for the grit separator to completely lift out 3 kgs of 0.2-0.3 mm sized, settled sand at the bottom to 2,060 mm high above water surface. But it showed the tendency to spend a little more time on lifting the grit as the grit size and the vertical height of the lift increased. 4. During experimental duration in A STP, it was found that the average amount of inlet grit was about 981 g/day (160~1,685 g/day) under $500m^3/day$ of operation condition, but it varied so severely during the experimental duration. After classification of discharged grit according to its size, grit with 0.3-0.42 mm size was found as largest part of output.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship of grit with well-being and self-efficacy. Grit was considered as a two-factor variable with consistency of interest and perseverance of effort. For the empirical analysis, data were collected from the sample of 237 nurses working at general hospitals. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 26 to test the hypothetical relationships. It was suggested that two factors of grit would be possible associated with well-being. However, the results of this study showed that the consistency of interest part of grit had non-significant effect on well-being, Perseverance of effort part of grit had indirect effect on well-being through fully mediation effect of self-efficacy. This study confirmed that grit, some how, positively related to well-being and variables such as, self-efficacy, could be a important variable to bridge grit to well-being. Further studies were suggested to perform studies on more about grit's two factors and unexplored external variables between grit and well-being of nursing professionals.
Purpose of Study : The purpose of this study is to verify whether self-control has a mediating effect on the influence of grit on college students' self-efficacy, which has a significant impact on academic achievement. Research content and methods : In order to verify the influence of grit and self-control on college students' self-efficacy, this study first selected measurement tools for self-efficacy, grit, and self-control and created an online questionnaire. Next, a survey was conducted on 128 students at University A in Chungcheongnam-do. Descriptive statistical analysis and bivariate correlation analysis were performed on the collected data to verify the normality of the data and multicollinearity between factors. In addition, multiple regression analysis was used to verify the influence of grit and self-control on self-efficacy. Next, the effect of grit on self-efficacy was analyzed using structural equation modeling to verify whether self-control mediates it. As a result of the analysis, overall self-efficacy was influenced by the reliability of self-control and academic passion of grit. Self-confidence, a sub-factor of self-efficacy, was influenced by reliability of self-control and academic passion of grit. Self-regulation efficacy was influenced by the reliability of self-control and academic persistence of grit. Preference for task difficulty was influenced by grit, maintenance of academic interest, and self-control. Next, self-control was found to mediate the effect of grit on self-efficacy. Conclusion and Recommendations : This study explored the effects of grit and self-control on college students' self-efficacy. As a result, grit and self-control had a positive effect on self-efficacy. Additionally, self-control was found to mediate the effect of grit on self-efficacy. This study proposes to support grit and self-control in order to support successful academic achievement of college students.
