Gravity reduction and Bouguer anomaly are frequently misunderstood by many geoscientists as follows; the observed gravity is reduced to a common datum plane, so that gravity effects by all materials above the datum is removed, therefore, Bouguer anomaly is located on the datum plane. In reality, Bouguer anomaly does not lie on a common datum plane, but is difference between observed gravity and reference gravity at the actual point of measurement. Commonly used gravity reduction formulas are approximate formulas. Here, we introduce complete formulas, and suggest to use them for more accurate results. We also suggest to use not the geoid but the reference ellipsoid as the vertical datum.
Because examination with technegas produces images through simple diffusion accumulation, the examination room can become contaminated after scan. Therefore, radiation workers and patients awaiting examination will be affected by internal exposure from technegas inhalation. Before and after gravity ventilation, I am trying to find a way to reduce the exposure dose of waiting patients according to a comparative analysis of horizontal spatial dose rates over time. Spatial dose ratio were measured for 10 minutes from various distances and angles around ventilator's location before and after gravity ventilation. Then, mean values, standard deviation and reduction ratio were calculated. The highest reduction rate of gravity ventilation was 95.31% and the highest reduction ratio was 1 to 3 minutes. Therefore, the gravity ventilation could reduce the exposure dose of radiologic technologists, waiting patients, patient guardians and nurses. In conclusion, the reduction of the exposure dose during the technegas ventilation study through gravity ventilation will play a role in optimiging the protection and it is in accordance with the recommended reduction of the medical exposure by ICRP 103.

This study was conducted to observe the effects of gravity and infra-gravity wave of detached submerged breakwater in the coast of Yeongnang-dong, Sokcho, as analyzing continuous wave data by performing field observations on the front area (W0) and rear area (W1, W2). Wave transmission coefficient ($K_t$) of submerged breakwater was analyzed in two parts, short-period wave (gravity wave) and infra-gravity wave. The wave energy reduction effect was analyzed and compared with the value of the design. In case of above wave height 2.0 m at the front area (W0) of the submerged breakwater, the short-period wave height at point W1 is reduced by about 65% and the short-period wave height at point W2 is reduced by about 59%. The depth of crest of submerged breakwater conducted in a sea area differs from the design, and the wave energy reduction effect is analyzed to be smaller than the design plan. The infra-gravity waves were amplified to 2.11 and 1.71 at the W1 and W2 points, respectively, and the wave height at W2 point was smaller than that at W1 point.
The gravity and magnetic measurements have been obtained from 34 stations with 50m intervals along the survey line positioned between Jangtanri and sindapri for studying subsurface geology and structures of the volcanic rocks in Yeoncheon area. The Bouguer gravity and magnetic anomaly values were evaluated from the reduction of the field observation, and then interpreted by Nettleton's method and maximum-pepth rules, are approximately 160m based on magnetic data and 135m based on gravity data. High Bouguer gravity anomaly zone between 0m in Jangtanri and 900m along the survery line, is caused by thick and high density, older dasalt which is positioned beneath jijangbong tuff breccia, and this result corresponds to the interpretation result based on magnetic anomly. Lower gravity and magnetic anomaly zones ariund 900m are caused by between 1300m and 1550m are caused by high density of Quarternary basalt exposed in the surface, and lower gravity and magnetic anomalies at 200m and 1250m are caused by faults.
Superconducting Gravimeters (SG) are the most sensitive instruments for measuring temporal gravity variations. The gravimeter is an integrating sensor therefore the gravity variations caused by different sources must be separated for studying a special effect by applying different models and data analysis methods. The present reduction methods for gravity variations induced by atmosphere and hydrosphere including the ocean and the detection and determination of the most surface gravity effects are shown. Some examples demonstrate the combination of ground (SG) and space techniques especially the combination of SG with GRACE satellite derived temporal gravity variations. Resulting from the performance of the SG and the applied data analysis methods some proposals are made for future SG applications.

In the paper, a design method of knee and pelvis joint in the biped robot is proposed for shock absorption and gravity compensation. Similarly to the human's body, the knee joints of the biped robot support most body weight and get a shock from the landing motion of the foot on the floor. The torque of joint motor is also increased sharply to keep the balance of the robot. Knee and pelvis joints with the spring are designed to compensate the gravity force and reduce the contact shock of the robot. To verify the efficiency of the proposed design method, we develope a biped robot with the joint mechanism using springs. At first, we experiment with the developed robot on the static motions such as the bent-knee posture both without load and with load on the flat ground, and the balance posture on the incline plane. The current of knee joint is measured to analyze the impact force and energy consumption of the joint motors. Also, we observe the motor current of knee and pelvis joints for the walking motion of the biped robot. The current responses of joint motors show that the proposed method has an effect on shock reduction and gravity compensation, and improve the energy efficiency of walking motions for the biped robot.

This paper is about the design of a new gravity compensator for the lower body exo-skeleton device. The exo-skeleton devices is for increasing the torque of the human body joint for the purpose of helping the disabled, workers in the industry, and military soldiers. So far, most of studied exo-skeleton devices are actuated by the motors, but motors are limited in energy such that a short durability is always a big problem. In this paper, a new gravity compensator is proposed to reduce the torque load applied to human body joints due to gravity. The gravity compensator is designed using a tortional bar spring, and its structure and characteristics are studied through the test and computer simulation. A design concept on the exo-skeleton device using the gravity compensator is presented. An analysis and computer simulation on the torque reduction of the proposed exo-skeleton device that applies and non-applies the gravity compensator are performed.
The amount of salt to make seed sorting solution of the specific gravity of 1.13 was reconsidered and determined as 3.8 kg salt in 18 L water, which is lower amount than currently used. Five rice cultivars were examined. Percent germination and seedling emergence were not similar. Seedling emergence rate of Japonica varieties, Nampyungbyeo and Daerypbyeo-1 were 87% and 95% under specific gravity of 1.13, respectively. Seedling emergence rate of Tongil type variety, Dasanbyeo was as high as 67% in specific gravity of 1.06. Seedling emergence rate of waxy rice, Hwasunchalbyeo and Aranghangchalbyeo were examined. Seedling emergence rate was 94% in both cultivars in specific gravity of 1.04. Seedling emergence rate was same in specific gravity of 1.08 which is generally used for selecting seed currently. Early growth (plant height, leaf number, and dry weight) were not significantly different by specific gravity within species. In all cultivars except waxy rice, highest seedling emergence rate was observed in specific gravity of 1.13 which is currently used for selection and decreased as specific gravity is lowed. However, considering total amount of seeds in each group of specific gravity, amount of seed in lower specific gravity group is relatively small and total seedling emergence rate within variety dose not show big difference. However, if seeds with low speicific gravity are produced due to the bad grain filling condition and consequently total seed content of low specific gravity increases, results will be differnt. Reduction in total growth and yield could occur. It will be important to comply with the seed sorting criterion of 1.13 for Japonica, 1.06 for Tongil, and 1.04 for waxy rice variety to ensure the maximum rice growth and yield.
This paper derives the gravity equation with intermediate goods trade. We extend a standard monopolistic competition model to incorporate intermediate goods trade, and show that the gravity equation with intermediates trade is identical to the one without it except in that gross output should be used as the output measure instead of value added. We also show that the output elasticity of trade is significantly underestimated when value added is used as the output measure. This implies that with the conventional gravity equation, the contribution of output growth can be substantially underestimated and the role of trade costs reduction can be exaggerated in explaining trade expansion, as we demonstrate for the case of Korea's trade growth between 1995 and 2007.

In the previous paper, authors proposed the unified equivalent frame method (UEFM) for the lateral behavior analysis of the flat plate structure subjected to the combined gravity and lateral loads, in which the rotations of torsional members were distributed to the equivalent column and the equivalent slab according to the relative ratio of gravity and lateral loads. In this paper, the lateral behavior of the multi-span flat plate structures under various levels of combined gravity and lateral loads were analyzed by the proposed UEFM, which were compared with test results as well as those estimated by existing models. In addition, to consider the stiffness degradation of the flat plate system after cracking, the stiffness reduction factors for torsional members were derived from the test results of the interior and exterior slab-column connection specimens, based on which the simplified nonlinear push-over analysis method for flat plate structures was proposed. The simplified nonlinear analysis method provided good agreements with test results and is considered to be very useful for the practical design of the flat plate structures under the combined gravity and lateral loads.
