  • Ad hoc wireless networks involving large populations of scattered communication nodes will play a key role in the development of low power, high capacity, interactive, multimedia communication networks. Such networks must support arbitrary network connections and provide coverage anywhere and anytime. This paper partitions such arbitrarily connected network architectures into three distinct groups, identifies the associated dual network architectures and counts the number of network architectures assuming there exist N network nodes. Connectivity between network nodes is characterized as a random event. Defining the link availability P as the probability that two arbitrary network nodes in an ad hoc network are directly connected, the network connection probability $ \integral_n$(p) that any two network nodes will be directly or indirectly connected is derived. The network connection probability $ \integral_n$(p) is evaluated and graphically demonstrated as a function of p and N. It is shown that ad hoc wireless networks containing a large number of network nodes possesses the same network connectivity performance as does a fixed network, i.e., for p>0, $lim_{N\to\infty} Integral_n(p)$ = 1. Furthermore, by cooperating with fixed networks, the ad hoc network connection probability is used to derive the global network connection probability for hybrid networks. These probabilities serve to characterize network connectivity performance for users of wireless ad hoc and hybrid networks, e.g., IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15, IEEE 1394-95, ETSI BRAN HIPERLAN, Bluetooth, wireless ATM and the world wide web (WWW).

  • In large-scale wireless sensor networks, tremendous amount of dummy packets is usually accompanied by keeping location privacy of the communication source and destination against global eavesdropping. In our earlier work we designed a location privacy routing protocol, ELPR(End-node Location Privacy Routing) in which the generation of dummy packets at each idle time-slot while transferring data packets are restricted to only the nodes within certain areas of encompassing the source and destination, respectively. In this paper, it is given that ELPR provides various degrees of location privacy while PCM(Periodic Collection Method) allows the only fixed level. Simulation results show that as the number of nodes or data packets increases ELPR permits in terms of the number of generated packets more cost-effective location privacy than PCM.

  • One of the most important VANET applications is providing active safety by broadcasting emergency messages. In order to prevent broadcast storm of flooding-based broadcasting scheme in which any node receiving message will rebroadcast, the existing protocols use the different methods to limit the number of relay nodes. Nevertheless, the existing protocols have low delivery ratio with high traffic density and cause message overhead. Currently, the dramatic increase in the number of vehicles equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) and onboard radar created new application scenarios that were not feasible before. Consequently, we proposed a broadcasting protocol that selects relay node by using GPS-based position information and detecting neighboring vehicles with the help of onboard radar to. Simulation results show that our proposed protocol has better performance than the existing schemes.

  • This paper analyzes a broadcasting technique for wireless multi-hop sensor networks that uses a form of cooperative diversity called opportunistic large arrays (OLAs). We propose a method for autonomous scheduling of the nodes, which limits the nodes that relay and saves as much as 32% of the transmit energy compared to other broadcast approaches, without requiring global positioning system (GPS), individual node addressing, or inter-node interaction. This energy-saving is a result of cross-layer interaction, in the sense that the medium access control (MAC) and routing functions are partially executed in the physical (PHY) layer. Our proposed method is called OLA with a transmission threshold (OLA-T), where a node compares its received power to a threshold to decide if it should forward. We also investigate OLA with variable threshold (OLA-VT), which optimizes the thresholds as a function of level. OLA-T and OLA-VT are compared with OLA broadcasting without a transmission threshold, each in their minimum energy configuration, using an analytical method under the orthogonal and continuum assumptions. The trade-off between the number of OLA levels (or hops) required to achieve successful network broadcast and transmission energy saved is investigated. The results based on the analytical assumptions are confirmed with Monte Carlo simulations.

  • In order to make load balancing, workload information of nodes should be informed to the network. In a load balancing algorithm[13] based on the SBIBD(Symmetric Balanced Incomplete Block Design), each node receives global workload information by only two round message exchange with O (${\upsilon}{\sqrt{\upsilon}}$) traffic overhead, where ${\upsilon}$ is the number of nodes. It is very efficient but works well only when ${\upsilon}=p^2+p+1$ for a prime number p. In this paper, we generate a special incidence structure in order for the algorithm works well for an arbitrary number of nodes. In the experiment with w,($5{\leq}w{\leq}5,000$), nodes and more than 80% of receiving workload information, traffic overhead was less than O ($w{\sqrt{w}})$ and the result for standard deviation of traffic overhead showed that each node has largely balanced amount of traffic overhead.

  • A multi-layered brick element fur the finite element method is developed for analyzing the three-dim-ensionally layered composite structures subjected to both thermal and mechanical boundary conditions. The element has eight nodes with one degree of freedom for the temperature and three for the display-ements at each node, and can contain arbitrary number of layers with different material properties with-in the element; the conventional element should contain one material within an element. Thus the total number of nodes and elements, which are needed to analyze the multi-layered composite structures, can be tremendously reduced. In solving the global equation, a partitioning technique is used to obtain the temperature and the displacements which are caused by both the mechanical boundary conditions and temperature distributions. The results by using the developed element are compared wish the commercial package, ANSYS and the conventional finite element methods, and they are in good agreement. It is also shown that the Number of nodes and elements can be tremendously reduced using the element without losing the numerical accuracies.

  • Carbon dioxide is a major cause for which accelerates Global Warming. Therefore several countries are working on the project recommended to use a bicycle instead of the car when you move to the nearby destination in an effort to reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide. In this paper, It was developed to measure the greenhouse gas reduction using Bluetooth Sensor Node by riding a bicycle instead of a car and management system in order to authenticate the riding record. The developed application provides various information such as individual bicycle mileage, greenhouse gas reductions, bicycle riding path, the number of planted ginkgo trees. This proposed system is expected to be helpful to green house gas emission reduction because the usage rate of bicycle will increase if government combine ways to offer people rewards such as pin money or tax breaks for people who take advantage of the bicycle with the project.

  • This study uses Node2vec graph embedding method and Light GBM link prediction to explore undeveloped export candidate countries in Korea's food and beverage industry. Node2vec is the method that improves the limit of the structural equivalence representation of the network, which is known to be relatively weak compared to the existing link prediction method based on the number of common neighbors of the network. Therefore, the method is known to show excellent performance in both community detection and structural equivalence of the network. The vector value obtained by embedding the network in this way operates under the condition of a constant length from an arbitrarily designated starting point node. Therefore, it has the advantage that it is easy to apply the sequence of nodes as an input value to the model for downstream tasks such as Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machine, and Random Forest. Based on these features of the Node2vec graph embedding method, this study applied the above method to the international trade information of the Korean food and beverage industry. Through this, we intend to contribute to creating the effect of extensive margin diversification in Korea in the global value chain relationship of the industry. The optimal predictive model derived from the results of this study recorded a precision of 0.95 and a recall of 0.79, and an F1 score of 0.86, showing excellent performance. This performance was shown to be superior to that of the binary classifier based on Logistic Regression set as the baseline model. In the baseline model, a precision of 0.95 and a recall of 0.73 were recorded, and an F1 score of 0.83 was recorded. In addition, the light GBM-based optimal prediction model derived from this study showed superior performance than the link prediction model of previous studies, which is set as a benchmarking model in this study. The predictive model of the previous study recorded only a recall rate of 0.75, but the proposed model of this study showed better performance which recall rate is 0.79. The difference in the performance of the prediction results between benchmarking model and this study model is due to the model learning strategy. In this study, groups were classified by the trade value scale, and prediction models were trained differently for these groups. Specific methods are (1) a method of randomly masking and learning a model for all trades without setting specific conditions for trade value, (2) arbitrarily masking a part of the trades with an average trade value or higher and using the model method, and (3) a method of arbitrarily masking some of the trades with the top 25% or higher trade value and learning the model. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the performance of the model trained by randomly masking some of the trades with the above-average trade value in this method was the best and appeared stably. It was found that most of the results of potential export candidates for Korea derived through the above model appeared appropriate through additional investigation. Combining the above, this study could suggest the practical utility of the link prediction method applying Node2vec and Light GBM. In addition, useful implications could be derived for weight update strategies that can perform better link prediction while training the model. On the other hand, this study also has policy utility because it is applied to trade transactions that have not been performed much in the research related to link prediction based on graph embedding. The results of this study support a rapid response to changes in the global value chain such as the recent US-China trade conflict or Japan's export regulations, and I think that it has sufficient usefulness as a tool for policy decision-making.

  • Structural reanalysis is frequently used to reduce the computational cost during the process of design or optimization. The supports can be regarded as the design variables in various types of structural optimization problems. The location, number, and type of supports may be varied in order to yield a more effective design. The paper is focused on structural static reanalysis problem with added supports where some node displacements along axes of the global coordinate system are specified. A new approach is proposed and exact solutions can be provided by the approach. Thus, it belongs to the direct reanalysis methods. The information from the initial analysis has been fully exploited. Numerical examples show that the exact results can be achieved and the computational time can be significantly reduced by the proposed method.

  • This paper intends to introduce a near-tip grid refinement and to explore its usefulness in the crack analysis by the natural element method (NEM). As a sort of local h-refinement in FEM, a NEM grid is locally refined around the crack tip showing the high stress singularity. This local grid refinement is completed in two steps in which grid points are added and Delaunay triangles sharing the crack tip node are divided. A plane-state plate with symmetric edge cracks is simulated to validate the proposed local grid refinement and to examine its usefulness in the crack analysis. The crack analysis is also simulated using a uniform NEM grid for the sake of comparison. The near-tip stress distributions and SIFs that are obtained using a near-tip refined NEM grid are compared with the exact values and those obtained using uniform NEM grid. The convergence rates of global relative error to the total number of grid points between the refined and non-refined NEM grids are also compared.
