  • Globally, global navigation satellite system (GNSS) is being developed and operated in advanced countries. China's Beidou is developing rapidly, starting with global positioning system (GPS), which is the most representative system. In this paper, we analyze the visibility of Beidou satellite in Korea at present time to utilize rapidly changing Beidou. In this analysis, it is compared with GPS which is stable service. The results of the visibility analysis are based on the results of the mask angle (the low elevation satellite exclusion angle) and the result of the skyplot (a visual representation of the position of the satellite at the user location). Visibility analysis shows that the high elevation angle of Beidou satellite is higher than that of GPS satellite in Korea. In addition, GPS and Beidou's availability and positioning accuracy analysis are performed to confirm the effect of increasing elevation angle satellites. According to the results, Beidou is more effective than GPS in using high elevation satellites in Korea.

  • GNSS receiver which uses the weak satellite signal is very vulnerable to the intentional jamming or non-intentional electromagnetic interference. It is a very simple method among the use method of GNSS receiver to vary tracking loop bandwidth of satellite signal appropriately as the jamming signal level. In this paper, this anti-jamming performance is experimented and analyzed in the laboratory and the anechoic chamber by the GNSS simulator to generate the satellite signal and the jamming signal generator to generate the jamming signal.

  • In the case of satellite navigation positioning, the shielding of satellite signals is determined by the environment of the region at which a user is located, and the navigation performance is determined accordingly. The accuracy of user position determination varies depending on the dilution of precision (DOP) which is a measuring index for the geometric characteristics of visible satellites; and if the minimum visible satellites are not secured, position determination is impossible. Currently, the GLObal NAvigation Satellite system (GLONASS) of Russia is used to supplement the navigation performance of the Global Positioning System (GPS) in regions where GPS cannot be used. In addition, the European Satellite Navigation System (Galileo) of the European Union, the Chinese Satellite Navigation System (BeiDou) of China, the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) of Japan, and the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) of India are aimed to achieve the full operational capability (FOC) operation of the navigation system. Thus, the number of satellites available for navigation would rapidly increase, particularly in the Asian region; and when integrated navigation is performed, the improvement of navigation performance is expected to be much larger than that in other regions. To secure a stable and prompt position solution, GPS-GLONASS integrated navigation is generally performed at present. However, as available satellite navigation systems have been diversified, finding the minimum satellite constellation combination to obtain the best navigation performance has recently become an issue. For this purpose, it is necessary to examine and predict the navigation performance that could be obtained by the addition of the third satellite navigation system in addition to GPS-GLONASS. In this study, the current status of the integrated navigation performance for various satellite constellation combinations was analyzed based on 2014, and the navigation performance in 2020 was predicted based on the FOC plan of the satellite navigation system for each country. For this prediction, the orbital elements and nominal almanac data of satellite navigation systems that can be observed in the Korean Peninsula were organized, and the minimum elevation angle expecting signal shielding was established based on Matlab and the performance was predicted in terms of DOP. In the case of integrated navigation, a time offset determination algorithm needs to be considered in order to estimate the clock error between navigation systems, and it was analyzed using two kinds of methods: a satellite navigation message based estimation method and a receiver based method where a user directly performs estimation. This simulation is expected to be used as an index for the establishment of the minimum satellite constellation for obtaining the best navigation performance.

  • In this paper, GNSS(global navigation satellite system) to monitoring the fine for the construction of structure displacement based on satellite communications signals of GNSS. At the same time on USN(ubiquitous sensor network) and proposed a new approach to precise positioning by analyzing the results. A major construction structure for the safety diagnosis and prevent disaster from the risk of collapse. Precision measurement methods to mm level GNSS in that case and experiments in the application of new technologies that can most commonly used to replace the current through the permanent. The way a GNSS baseline and tested it on to prove. As a result, at our country at precise positioning and fine displacement monitoring application virtual reference station(VRS) in a GNSS mm of a margin of error of horizontal and vertical directions can be found.

  • Inertial navigation system (INS) has used aided systems and sensors to compensate navigation error. Global navigation satellite system (GNSS), velocity measurement sensor (VMS), and radar are commonly used to aid INS. Land navigation system (LNS) also mainly uses VMS when GNSS cannot be used such as at tunnel or on jammed scenario. A straight drive is required when VMS-aided navigation is used, because there is only speed of straight direction whereas no crossways and vertical directions. In local environment, even an expressway has lack of straight drive which is constraint of VMS-aided navigation algorithm. This paper proposes an enhanced VMS-aided navigation algorithm for LNS with indirect drive by restricting filter update condition. Also, there is a result of vehicle test to prove performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) recommends the introduction of SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System) in 2025, which provides GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) correction data and the ranging signal via GEO (geostationary earth orbit) satellites to GNSS users. In this paper, we present the basic design results of the satellite communication system RF link for the Korean SBAS systems, KASS (Korea Augmentation Satellite System) which is going on the development & implementation. KASS RF link was designed in consideration of both the C-band and Ku-band uplinks to meet the international standard requirements for the SBAS system, and identified the minimum EIRP and G/T performance of the KASS uplink station for each frequency band. These analysis results for the RF link design are expected to be used for an effective design of the subsystem specifications for KASS satellite communication system.

  • It has been recognized that the risk from the vulnerability of GPS can lead to the extreme damage in the infrastructure of the civil and military in recent years. As an example, the intentional interference to GPS signal, named GPS jamming, was really performed to misguide GPS guided weapons during Iraq war in 2003, and the fact has also followed by the serious issues on GPS in civilian community. In the modernized military society, the navigation warfare(NAVWAR) based on the GPS jamming has been emerged and introduced as a military operation. The intentional interference to the future global navigation satellite system(GNSS) involving GPS must be also an important issue to civilian users in near future. This study is focused on the fundamental research prior to the research on "Potential principle of NAVWAR" under NAVWAR of the future warfare. In this paper, we would study on the investigation of NAVWAR based on electronic warfare(EW) and analyze characteristics of the jamming against GNSS's receivers. Then the general mechanism on GNSS jamming is proposed.
