Segmentation of Polygons with Different Colors and its Application to the Development of Vision-based Tangram Puzzle Game (다른 색으로 구성된 다각형들의 분할과 이를 이용한 영상 인식 기반 칠교 퍼즐 놀이 개발)

  • Tangram game consists of seven pieces of polygons such as triangle, square, and parallelogram. Typical methods of image processing for object recognition may suffer from the existence of side thickness and shadow of the puzzle pieces that are dependent on the pose of 3D-shaped puzzle pieces and the direction of light sources. In this paper, we propose an image processing method that recognizes simple convex polygon-shaped objects irrespective of thickness and pose of puzzle objects. Our key algorithm to remove the thick side of piece of puzzle objects is based on morphological operations followed by logical operations with edge image and background image. By using the proposed object recognition method, we are able to implement a stable tangram game applications designed for tablet computers with front camera. As the experimental results, recognition rate is about 86 percent and recognition time is about 1ms on average. It shows the proposed algorithm is fast and accurate to recognize tangram blocks.

Comparison of the Effects on Teaching Calculus for Engineering Students (대학의 미적분학 교과목에서 수업 방식에 따른 교육 효과 고찰)

  • The purpose of this paper is to compare the effects on the students' academic achievement and satisfaction level in a Calculus course taught by two different teaching modes, blended learning and face-to-face learning. The comparison analysis was made for Calculus 2 course in H university in South Korea offered in the Spring semester of the year 2015. Calculus 2 is a Calculus course designed for the first year students who plan to choose their majors in Engineering. There were two sections of the Calculus course taught in a blended learning mode and one in a conventional face-to-face learning mode. All these three sections including e-learning parts were taught by the author. We discuss some meaningful differences in the effects by the two different teaching modes.

  • NCS 기반 교육과정은 산업현장의 국가직무능력(National Competency Standards: NCS)을 고교 직업교육과정에 적용한 2015 개정 교육과정이다. 따라서 전문교과 교사는 학습자가 학습 종료시점에 NCS 수행준거를 만족하는 역량을 갖추도록 교육할 수 있는 교수역량을 필요로 한다. 이에 본 연구는, NCS 기반 교육과정 '전자' 교과의 실무과목, 학습모듈, NCS를 분석하여, 기초과목이나 실무과목으로 편성되지 않은 마이크로 프로세서 기본 역량에 대한 선수지식을 여러 영역에서 요구하고 있음을 밝혔다. 그러므로 NCS 기반 교육과정의 원활한 운영을 위해 '전자' 교과 교사는 마이크로프로세서관련 지식, 기술, 태도에 대한 교수역량을 강화할 필요가 있고, 학습모듈과 NCS는 수정 보완될 필요가 있음을 제안한다.

Improvement Factors on Management Performance of Global Distribution Franchise Firms

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to derive the performance improvement factors of courier corporations that operate global franchise systems as business strategies through their brands and to determine. Research design, data, and methodology - In the first study, 129 valid questionnaire sheets were analyzed. In the second study intended to determine whether the four performance improvement factors derived in the first study have positive effects on franchisees' business performance, 781 valid questionnaire sheets secured from six GDFFs were analyzed using AMOS analysis. Results - In the first study, four performance improvement factors were derived. In the second study, hypotheses regarding whether the performance improvement factors: leadership, communication, education and training, and brand, have positive effects on franchisees' business performance were tested, and as a result, one hypothesis was rejected and three hypotheses were adopted. Conclusions - The first and largest contribution of this study is that it derived performance improvement factors from GDFFs. The second contribution is that it determined whether the performance improvement factors that were derived have positive effects on franchisees' business performance with tests. The third contribution is that it created significant implications in terms of other studies, research value, and applications in industry fields.

  • In this study, the objective of the study was to verify how college students' entourage and transformational leadership can affect employment and entrepreneurship perception. In addition, with the coronavirus infection, which has a widespread global impact over the past few months, we want to see how the social issue of pandemic affects the personal characteristics of college students and their perceptions of employment and entrepreneurship. Research Results University students with high entrepreneurship and transformational leadership perceived the social issue of the Corona 19 pandemic as a crisis, which is comparable to the economic crisis, and rather than cringe, adapting to the shift of a new paradigm, new job opportunities or opportunities for entrepreneurship It was found to be an opportunity to recognize as. As the untact society is expected to become a new normal, securing new employment and entrepreneurship opportunities is emerging as an important factor through cultivation of entrustment and transformational leadership. A Study on IT Curriculum Evaluation for College Students

  • We compared and analyzed the factors affecting the lecture evaluation of IT subjects, which are mandatory for all students of H University. The purpose of this study is to determine whether lecture satisfaction has a significant correlation with academic achievement, attendance rate, and categories of courses. In this study, we check whether the lecture satisfaction of IT liberal arts subjects that require a lot of computer-based practice differs from that of other liberal arts subjects. We used the 2,149 evaluation data of 12 lectures submitted by 2,322 students in the first and second semesters of year 2019 at University H. As for the lecture evaluation results, in addition to the evaluation scores of the multiple choice questions, the subjective questions were also quantified by classifying the statements submitted by the students into positive and negative types to make the results of the lecture evaluation objective. Our research results show that student group who have the higher attendance rates and academic achievements have higher level of lecture satisfaction and they also use more positive words than negative words in subjective evaluation questions. Students with the lower score use the more negative words, but the ratio between positive and negative words does not differ between groups. Higher attendance rates groups in the basic programming courses and software applications courses have higher lecture satisfaction ratio. But in the intermediate programming courses, the higher attendances rate and the lecture satisfaction do not have any significant relationship. Also students in the intermediate programming courses use more negative words than those in the basic programming courses.

  • Female empowerment advertising campaigns are easily observed in the United States and European countries whereas it is rarely found in Korea. Thus, this study is designed to analyze female empowerment advertising campaigns so-called femvertising through a case analysis method. The case analysis is often employed in the field of advertising and other social sciences, especially is helpful in finding current trends. Study results found that themes of global femvertising campaigns could be categorized into 'redefining women's beauty', 'gender equality', 'education', and 'leadership'. The objective of these femvertising campaigns is to change perspectives of the society on women and change men's perspective. In terms of product category by global femvertising campaign companies, it varies from consumer goods, IT & electronics, automotive, finance, toy, non-profit organization to press. In general, femvertising targets women, but some femvertising campaigns also target men. This study also provides implications in regards with media usage strategy and advertising planning strategy.

  • Main purpose of this study is to provide some basic data necessary to research, education, and policy to cultivate professional talents, by investigating what competencies needed to hospital administrative staffs and managers in performing their jobs in the global age. A survey was conducted through self-administered questionnaires for hospital administrative staffs and managers including first-line hands-on workers who were working in 77 hospitals located in Busan, Keongnam, Ulsan areas in South Korea. Major results are as follows: (a) The analysis for the competencies needed to hospital administrative staffs and managers in order to perform successfully their jobs revealed that interpersonal competency, knowledge of management skills in healthcare field, understanding ability for healthcare, in that order of importance, had significant influence on performing their jobs. (b) Regarding the analysis for the detailed competencies necessary to hospital administrative staffs and managers in order to perform successfully their jobs revealed that problem-solving ability, sense of responsibility, positive attitude, leadership, in that order of importance, had significant influence on performing them. This study suggests that universities opened courses related to health care management should newly open a subject 'problem-solving ability in health care' to link with health care field and their curriculums are necessary to change over to practice-oriented curriculum system.

  • Recently, regional society requires engineers to understand the international affairs and to be global experts endowed with leadership. General education appropriate to engineers should fulfill these needs and provide wide understandings in humanity. General sciences education should be also reinforced for the students taking low level science courses under 7th education program to improve learning ability of the major subjects in college. A general education component including humanity for the engineers could be trained continuously from primary school to college under the 2009 revised education program. Various opportunity for education should be provided through the special curriculum development at the college or department level, which trains experts who fulfill the need of community. Multi-major program is a substitute for offering the educational opportunity to the students in environmental engineering, one of multidisciplinary programs. Emphasized criteria of the curriculum requirements and adequate contents of general education need be also developed for supporting the students to take advanced courses in major.

  • Korea Ginseng Corporation is a global ginseng company, owning one of the most leading brands in Korea, CheongKwanJang. Although Korea Ginseng Corporation was an undoubted market leader in the red ginseng market, it faced a new challenge in 2012 due to the changes in market environment. In order to keep its market leadership in a saturated and competitive market, the company decided to extend its product lines alongside the launches of new brands. In this article, the authors demonstrate the development process of the company's brand portfolio strategy to reveal how the company turned CheongKwanJang into a mega-brand. Also, this paper explores the impact of CheongKwanJang's reputation on new brands, thereby illustrating how the company successfully managed to introduce new products outside of the red ginseng category, ranging from organic food to a pet food market.
