The glass edge sealing is one of the vacuum glazing core manufacturing process and it needs the high reliability for the vacuum keeping. Conventionally, the glass edge sealing had been being researched by the method that pasted the flit on the glass edge part and bonded two sheets of glass. But this way has the defect that can't make tempered glass. In order to remedy it's faults, in this paper, the glass edge was sealed by using the hydrogen mixture gas torch within the furnace. The parameter having an effect on the glass edge sealing through the basic test was set. And the correlation of the thickness of the glass edge and parameter were analyzed through the design of experiment. By using the Taguchi method, the optimal process condition for the glass edge sealing was drawn and the validity was verified.
A modern optical fiber manufacturing process requires the sufficient cooling of glass fibers freshly drawn from the heated and softened silica preform in the furnace, since the inadequately cooled glass fibers are known to cause improper polymer resin coating on the fiber surface and to adversely affect the product quality of optical fibers. In order to greatly enhance the fiber cooling effectiveness at increasingly high fiber drawing speed, it is necessary to use a dedicated glass fiber cooling unit with helium gas injection between glass fiber drawing and coating processes. The present numerical study features a series of three-dimensional flow and heat transfer computations on the cooling gas and the fast moving glass fiber to analyze the cooling performance of glass fiber cooling unit, in which the helium is supplied through the discretely located rectangular injection holes. The air entrainment into the cooling unit at the fiber inlet is also included in the computational model and it is found to be critical in determining the helium purity in the cooling gas and the cooling effectiveness on glass fiber. The effects of fiber drawing speed and helium injection rate on the helium purity decrease by air entrainment and the glass fiber cooling are also investigated and discussed.
The glass thermal forming process provides a high volume, low cost approach to producing aspherical reflectors for x-ray optics. Thin glass sheets are shaped into mirror segments by replicating the mold shape at high temperature. Heating parameters in the glass thermal slumping process are crucial to improve surface quality of the formed glass. In this research, the heating process of a thermal slumping glass sheet on a concave parabolic mold was simulated with the finite-element method (FEM) to investigate the effects of heating rate and soaking temperature. Based on the optimized heating conditions, glass samples 0.5 mm thick were formed in a furnace with a steel concave parabolic mold. The figure errors of the formed glass were measured and discussed in detail. It was found that the formed glass was not fully slumped at the edges, and should be trimmed to achieve better surface deviation. The root-mean-square (RMS) deviation and peak-valley (PV) deviation between formed glass and mold along the axial direction were 2.3 μm and 4.7 μm respectively.

The authors have proposed that waste glass, which is crushed to pieces, can be used as a concrete aggregate. At the present time, recycled-glass concrete is used for sidewalk concrete blocks and pavement as glass is ornamental. However, in cases where recycled-glass concrete is used for structural concrete, strength and durability are required as structural concrete is exposed to the weather. Glass that is used generally is a mixture of SiO$_2$, Na$_2$O and CaO. SiO$_2$is the most likely cause of alkali-aggregate reaction when waste glass was used for concrete aggregate. In this study, an alkali-aggregate reaction test that is one of the important tests related to durability of aggregate was carried out far discussion of utilization of waste glass for concrete aggregate. From the results of the tests, it is found that glass is a reactive aggregate. The pessimum proportion of glass is about 75%. Then the cases of using fly ash, blast furnace slag and artificial zeolite for admixture materials were also examined for the purpose of prevention of alkali-aggregate reaction. from the results of the test, it was found that using them is an effective way to prevent alkali-aggregate reaction. The compressive strength in the cases of using admixture materials is larger than that without admixture materials.
A study was made on the processing of domestic blast furnace slag by flotation and chemical purification for the use of slag as a raw material in making soda lime glasses. Feasibility study has been made for the use of reprocessing slag as a source material for both coloring and chemical components (such as CaO, $Al_2O_3$, MgO and etc.) in the glass making process. Chemical composition of chemically purified slags ranges; $SiO_2$ 34.5~37.5, $Al_2O_3$, 16.2~14.1, $Fe_2O_3$ 0.33~0.14, CaO 34.5~38.8, MgO 4.0~5.2, NmO 0.16~0.39, $TiO_2$ 0.23~0.35, S 0.08~0.42, ignition loss 3.3~8.4 and others 0.48~0.51%. It was found that either amber or greenish color could be easily obtained with the addition of salg up to 24%, however the slag addition to glass batches much impaired the transmitancy of glass products, thus a glass made with 7% slag addition showed 82% in transmitancy value at 510 nm.
Glass sealing method is used glass bond as called frit in LCD, PDP process. but new sealing method is need to consider the endurance and economy. This paper present the new glass sealing method using high density gas torch in the furnace and process variable are defined by experiment. Taguchi Robust Experimental Design methods were applied for optimizing these four main processing parameters.
The synthesis of glass-ceramic materials from glasses based on industrial wastes or natural rocks their physical properties were studied. Glasses of composition, CaO14.7∼16.1, MgO7.4∼9.0, Al2O38.3∼19.3, SiO2 48.9∼51.0wt% were prepared from domestic blast furnace slag, serpentine, sea sand and etc. with additions of chromic oxide, and fluoride as nucleating agent. The glasses were subjected to controlled heat treatments and yielded fine microstructure of glass-ceramics which were composed of monocrystalline phase of aluminous diopside. X-ray diffraction techniques were adopted to identify the crystalline phases and to determine the degree of crystallization quantitatively. Density, coefficient of thermal expansion, young's modulus, microhardness and modulus of rupture were measured and the resulting properties were discussed in terms of the heat-treatment conditions, the degree of crystallization, species of crystaline phase, the microstructures formed in glass-cramics and the chemical compositions of mother glasses.
C/4O분이었다.

This paper investigates the effect of inclusion of glass fibers on mechanical and fracture properties of binary blend geopolymer concrete produced by using fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag. To study the effect of glass fibers, the mix design parameters like binder content, alkaline solution/binder ratio, sodium hydroxide concentration and aggregate grading were kept constant. Four different volume fractions (0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3% and 0.4%) and two different lengths (6 mm, 13 mm) of glass fibers were considered in the present study. Three different notch-depth ratios (0.1, 0.2, and 0.3) were considered for determining the fracture properties. The test results indicated that the addition of glass fibers improved the flexural strength, split tensile strength, fracture energy, critical stress intensity factor and critical crack mouth opening displacement of geopolymer concrete. 13 mm fibers are found to be more effective than 6 mm fibers and the optimum dosage of glass fibers was found to be 0.3% (by volume of concrete). The study shows the enormous potential of glass fiber reinforced geopolymer concrete in structural applications.
