  • Advances in science and technology have made a lot of changes in our life. Especially, sensors have used in various ways to monitor in real time and analyze the world effectively. Traditional sensor networks, however, have used their own protocols and architecture so it had to be paid a lot of additional cost. In the past 8 years, OGC and ISO have been formulating standards and protocols for the geospatial Sensor Web. Although the OGC SWE initiatives have deployed some components, attempts have been made to access sensor data. All spatial operations had to calculate on the client side because traditional SOS architecture did not consider spatial operation for GeoSensor. As a result, clients have to implement and run spatial operations, and it caused a lot of overload on them and decreased approachableness. In this paper we propose S-SOS for in-situ and moving GeoSensor that extends 52 North SOS and provides spatialFilter and spatialFinder operations. The proposed S-SOS provides an architecture that does not need to edit already deployed SOSs and can add spatial operations as occasion. Additionally we explain how to express the spatial queries and to be used effectively for various location based services.

  • The architecture of the National Geo-spatial Information Clearinghouse Network (NGICN) is suggested in this paper. We described the function and relationship of six elements of the NGICN. The elements are clearinghouse network gateway, clearinghouse node, geo-spatial data server, communication network, protocols and standards, and clients. The NGICN suggested in this research will prevent the duplication and improve the value of the database, and persuade the institutes or enterprises in the private sector to participate in producing the geo-spatial database. Finally it will setup the business of producing, circulating and utilizing the geo-spatial information as a new bases of Info-Communication Industry.

  • The data model is a system model which abstracts the spatial and nonspatial fea¬tures of the real world. A system defines through its data model a framework for the inner rep¬resentation of and connections with the outside world. The spatial query language is one of the most efficent framework for defining connection with outside world in the GIS. Existing GIS uses a spatial data model based on relational data model. Therefore, it has some difficulties in data abstraction and representing complex objects through inheritance. In this paper, we pro-pose an object oriented data model-Topological Object Model(TOM). TOM combines object model in ODMG and the planer topological object. Based on this model, we present an object-oriented spatial query language-OQL/Geo. OQL/Geo extends OQL in ODMG and represents TOM effectively. It also provides several operators such as geometric, topological and visible ope-rators. Moreover, it represents with diverse flexivility the request for complex spatial analysis and presentation of query results.

  • This study has been implemented a map-based festival information website with Google Map to overcome a limit that existing festival information web sites supplied location information only through text-based format. To get the newest festival information, this website uses GeoRSS function which transform rss feed offered by newspaper websites into location based information. Through this function, internet users can see festival information at a glance on the basis of a map. Through this study we confirmed the efficiency of offering location based festival information and possibility of GeoRSS function to provide the newest festival information.

  • This paper will show examples and methods of spatial relationship operations that extract spatial information from satellite images. Geographical information system phenomena of complex and variant real world can abstract and implement simple features. The abstract features classify geo_objects and geo_field. The geo_object and the geo_field can represent vector and raster respectively. The raster based satellite image can use remote sensing applications. This paper needs topology operations and geometric operations for extracting the remote sensing. The spatial information transforms the raster based image to the vector based object, and extract from the spatial information. The extracted information will contribute on the application of the remote sensing satellite images.

  • This paper discusses a most suitable wireless communications system for subway trains on condition that a geo-spatial video system is implemented in subway trains. Geo-spatial video system for subway trains refers to the device that can transfers the images captured by cameras within a subway station building or in and around a subway track to on coming trains wirelessly, which allows the operator in operating room to monitor the state of a platform and a subway track, the flow of passengers, and the condition of passengers getting on and off. To minimize the problem, secure civil safety and prevent accidents and calamity from occurring, a geo-spatial video system for subway trains has been increasingly introduced. The wireless communications systems for GVS for subway trains involve HF(High Frequency), IR(Infra Red), M/W(Micro Wave), wireless LAN approaches. Each has its own strengths/weaknesses, and different vendors have different technology.

  • This paper proposes a Web Service framework on both wired and wireless network environment that can be interoperable and extensible among geo-spatial servers. Mostly, OGC has studied and announced international standards which are related to web services on various kinds of geo-spatial data. Therefore, the proposed framework satisfies interoperability and extensibility for geo-spatial servers by adapting WMS, WFS, WCS, and WRS standards of OGC and web services standards of W3C. This framework, also, satisfies requirements of huge volumed data service, GML service, geo-spatial function service, and wireless network service. This framework consists of geo-spatial servers group, geo-spatial broker, and web-based client. The geo-spatial servers group includes GIS, SIIS, ITS, GNSS, and Telematics server for the purpose of providing various kinds of geo-spatial services. Especially, this paper proposes main memory based GIS server(MMG server) that can efficiently serve huge volumed GML data on wireless network environment. Finally, experimental results about the MMG server and prototype implementations of the framework show the effectiveness of this study.

  • This study defines concept and service framework of Geo-Spatial Big Data(GSBD). The major concept of the GSBD is formulated based on the 7V characteristics: the general characteristics of big data with 3V(Volume, Variety, Velocity); Geo-spatial oriented characteristics with 4V(Veracity, Visualization, Versatile, Value). GSBD is the technology to extract meaningful information from Geo-spatial fusion data and support decision making responding with rapidly changing activities by analysing with almost realtime solutions while efficiently collecting, storing and managing structured, semi-structured or unstructured big data. The application area of the GSBD is segmented in terms of technical aspect(store, manage, analyze and service) and public/private area. The service framework for the GSBD composed of modules to manage, contain and monitor GSBD services is suggested. Such additional studies as building specific application service models and formulating service delivery strategies for the GSBD are required based on the services framework.

  • In these days, various kinds of web applications based on web 2.0 paradigm have been developed. In web 2.0 paradigm pursuing participation, sharing, and openness on the web-as-platform, web mapping or web GIS application are regarded as top most applications, so that web applications, handling geo-spatial contents, with user-interaction interface and search engine of high performance have been provided for both public users and expert users in the special domains. Public and industrial needs for web mapping mashup application by open API, linked with the practical web computing technologies, are gradually increasing. In this study, a user interface in mashup for geo-spatial feature generation was implemented by using mainly Google maps API. Spatial database resources in this implementation are those of Google mapping server. As the results, public users on web client can create their own geo-spatial data sets in web vector formats, without the help of any GIS tools or access to proprietary databases. It is concluded that web-based mashup application in client-side using open API can be used as an alternative for geo-browsing system or portable feature generation system.
