Objective: Skin tumors are the most commonly seen cancer type worldwide. Regarding pathogenesis, it is thought that disruption of kinetics through T lymphocyte-mediated development of chronic inflammation may be involved. The present study was intended to identify role of inflammatory cells such as neutrophils, monocytes and lymphocytes in the determination of risk for skin cancer. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed charts of 569 cases diagnosed as having primary skin tumors. Data regarding age, gender and histopathological subtype were recorded. Blood parameters studied on the day before surgery including WBCs, neutrophils, and lymphocyte counts, neutrophil:lymphocyte and neutrophil:monocyte ratios were also recorded. Two-hundred and two healthy individuals presented for check-up in an outpatient clinic were selected as the control group. Parameters studied in cases with skin cancer were compared to those healthy individuals. Findings: Of the cases with skin cancer, 401 were basal cell carcinoma (BCC) while 144 were squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and 13 were malignant melanoma (MM). WBC, neutrophil and monocyte counts and the neutrophil:lymphocyte ratio were found to be lower in the patient group than in the healthy control group (p<0.001) while no significant difference was found in other parameters reviewed (p>0.05). No significant difference was found in WBC, neutrophil, neutrophil: monocyte ratio according to gender (p>0.05). Monocyte count was found to be $0.68{\pm}0.61$ in men and $0.55{\pm}0.25$ in women, indicating strong statistical significance (p<0.001). WBC, neutrophil and monocyte values were highest in control group while lowest in BCC. When BCC and SCC groups were compared to controls, significant differences found (p<0.001). There were no significant differences in lymphocyte counts among groups (p=0.976). Neutrophil:lymphocyte ratios were 3.24 in BCC, 3.59 in SCC, 3.44 in MM and 5.06 in control group (p<0.001). Conclusions: In our study, it was found that there were significant differences in complete blood count, neutrophil, monocyte and neutrophil:lymphocyte levels among groups. Neutrophil: lymphocyte ratio was found to be lowest in BCC among skin cancers.

Background: The purpose of this study is to examine the risk of uncontrolled chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) among patients receiving low emetogenic chemotherapy (LEC) with and without granisetron injection as the primary prophylaxis in addition to dexamethasone and metochlopramide. Materials and Methods: This was a single-centre, prospective cohort study. A total of 96 patients receiving LEC (52 with and 42 without granisetron) were randomly selected from the full patient list generated using the e-Hospital Information System (e-His). The rates of complete control (no CINV from days 1 to 5) and complete response (no nausea or vomiting in both acute and delayed phases) were identified through patient diaries which were adapted from the MASCC Antiemesis Tool (MAT). Selected covariates including gender, age, active alcohol consumption, morning sickness and previous chemotherapy history were controlled using the multiple logistic regression analyses. Results: Both groups showed significant difference with LEC regimens (p<0.001). No differences were found in age, gender, ethnic group and other baseline characteristics. The granisetron group indicated a higher complete response rate in acute emesis (adjusted OR: 0.1; 95%CI 0.02-0.85; p=0.034) than did the non-granisetron group. Both groups showed similar complete control and complete response rates for acute nausea, delayed nausea and delayed emesis. Conclusions: Granisetron injection used as the primary prophylaxis in LEC demonstrated limited roles in CINV control. Optimization of the guideline-recommended antiemetic regimens may serve as a less costly alternative to protect patients from uncontrolled acute emesis.
The purpose of this study is to review and criticize the articles that analyzed Frozen by using the semiotic method of Greimas. The study also aims to apply the semiotic method of Greimas correctly to find the deep structure of the narrative of Frozen. The results of the narrative analysis based on the actantial model and the semiotic square show that Frozen is not Elsa's heroic narrative but Anna's one. Because Elsa and Anna are the opposing elements in this narrative, the success of Anna is the failure of Elsa. Frozen does not convey the subversive message about the gender roles by representing an independent and active woman who resists the patriarchal discourse. Instead, Frozen reproduces the conformist ideology by saying that love is the most valuable thing and that everyone should accept the role given to him/her by the community.
This study was to examine elementary students' expectations on informal science learning in science museums which have characteristics of free choice learning. $5^{th}$ and $6^{th}$ grade students in two different elementary schools in Gyeonggi province participated in the survey and 330 samples were collected. Subcategories for the survey were categorized on the basis of review of the literature about the learning outcomes from science museums. The survey instruments were developed following the idea of each subcategory from the learning in science museums and a content validity of the survey instruments was checked. The results were as follows: Generally students' had high expectations of all subcategories and developing their interests in science through science museums was confirmed the most. Moreover, expectations on learning in science museums were differences between gender and grade. Finally, it was found that grade differences of expectations on learning in science museums were affected by intrinsic motivation, and empirical activity were affecting the gender differences of those. Based on the results of study, elementary students could confirm that the science museums had the important values and possibility as a field of informal science learning. And this study implied that the science museums could enhance more educational roles of informal science learning.
Demands on customized educational programs for female students in college of engineering in university level make this study be launched and conducted. Literature reviews related to educational environments, psychological mechanism of female students and current status of conventional educational programs for them were provided. The related survey with 97 students in a university in Incheon was also conducted. Various statistical methods based on SPSS Window's 15.0 version were adopted and applied to analyze data which were collected through the survey. The result of data analysis addressed that female students appeared higher interests in gender recognition than male students do. This result was also proved by statistical analysis. Additional differential findings based on statistical analysis were gender roles and leaderships in classes, employment to the field of specialization and so on.
In terms of class, race, or gender, critical literacy takes seriously the problem of inequality and injustice embedded in texts. Texts are considered as tools that are used for maintaining the status quo by constructing and communicating our identities, particularly in relation to others. While reading texts and identifying our roles in society, some feel empowered, and others, marginalized. Thus we need to challenge the characterization and the message included in those texts by asking problem-posing questions. In this paper I have demonstrated how to read and teach four versions of "Snow White" from a critical literacy stance. By the use of problem-posing questions, students are led to discover that one of Grimms' fairy tales, the original version of "Snow White," was written from the perspective of men with power, thus marginalizing women in general, as well as the seven dwarfs. Through a critical analysis of Snow White's personality, the typical theme of fairy tales - good is rewarded while evil is punished - should be challenged. In the animation, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, power is given to the marginalized people in the original, the seven dwarfs and women in general. In "Snow Night,"a feminist short story, women in general are empowered while men, who should be judged by their looks, are powerless. "Snow-Drop"reminds us of the original, but challenges stereotypes, prejudices, and the theme inherent in the story. In those three stories many parts from the original are rewritten from the perspectives of the marginalized, but still some people are described prejudicially. So students should be guided to write another story from a new perspective. When those four works were taught with problem-posing questions in a university, this approach proved to be quite successful: most students acknowledged the effectiveness of critical literacy in teaching literary works.

This study aims to explore the effects of the parenting education program for high-school maladjusted students. To this purpose, a parenting education program for adolescents developed by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family(MOGEF) was applied to ten high-school maladjusted students in an alternative(Dae-an) class in Jeju. Findings from class observations and interviews with participants are as follows. First, students with school maladjustment recognized importance and necessity of positive self-concepts and had an opportunity for self-growth through parenting education program. Second, students with school maladjustment obtained understanding about their family of origin and confidence for forming their future families. Third, advance learning about meanings and roles of being a parent provided students with opportunities to know importance of responsible sexual behavior. Fourth, practices of basic care with a replica of a new-born baby enhanced participation and concentration level of students with school maladjustment which became extremely effective in obtaining necessary knowledge for the basic care. Fifth, information provision for parent roles according to children's different developmental levels let students recognize that parent's roles change as their children grow and opened a way to grasp the need of parent education. Sixth, education and repetitive practices on reflective listening helped students enhance communication skills which entailed expanding their human relations. Seventh, passing-down of emotion and understanding on child abuse allowed students recognize risks of child abuse as well as the importance and need of skills for controlling emotion. This study sheds lights on the feasibility and effectiveness of a parenting education program for maladjusted or vulnerable students as an effective program for school drop-out prevention.
Empirical study comparing the leadership styles of women an men is a popular on management in organization. Consistent with study comparing women and men on many organizational behavior, I have identified that leadership style from survey. The this study examined follower's perception of the women and men the leadership in organization. More specifically, I examined how male and female follower evaluated the leadership style and effectiveness of women and man, how these evaluations were affected by the degree of stereotypes of the followers toward gender roles, finally the variables affecting the evaluation of the leadership effectiveness. Total 158 follower's participated in this survey to explore these research questions. The results that female evaluator were evaluated higher in the transformational leadership than male evaluator, while the evaluation for man leader was higher than the woman leader in terms of the transactional and task-oriented leadership style. Also, another analysis the gender difference of the organizational member revealed that woman leader better than man was higher leader relational and transformational leadership. However, both male and female followers who were no gender-difference in decision making work, interpersonal work, relation coordination work, consulting work.
Using 850 disclosures of individual executive compensation from 2014 to 2017, this study examines the impact of female auditors on the sensitivity of executive compensation-performance relation. The major findings as follow: First, Female auditors have positive effects on the sensitivity of executive compensation to performance, implying that when auditors are appointed to be females who are more ethical, of high moral development, risk averse and conservative as well, they play an efficient monitoring role in aligning executive compensation to performance. Second, the monitoring effects of female auditors on the sensitivity of executive compensation to performance are significant when they are full time employed, suggesting that gender-based differences are more likely to be realized on the condition that they are in position to commit to their jobs for their owns. The results overall support that female auditors exercise efficient monitoring roles in aligning executive compensation to performance in Korean listed firms. The research contribute to complement the study of gender effects on corporate decision making, which have been focused on gender diversity of the board, by providing empirical evidence of the impact of female auditors on the sensitivity of executive compensation-performance relation.
The purpose of the study was to analyze the effects of both young children's gender and temperament and their teachers' teaching efficacy and teacher-child interactions on peer play interactions. For this purpose, the data from the 2012 Panel Study on Korean Children were analyzed using analyses of variances and correlation co-efficiencies. In addition, analyses of hierarchical regression, with young children's temperament and teacher-related factors (teaching efficacy and teacher-child interactions) as the independent variables and three sub-factors of peer play interactions (play interaction, play disruption, play disconnection) as the dependent variables, were conducted. The results showed that young children's temperament, teacher efficacy, teacher-child interactions, and peer play interactions differed by gender and significantly correlated. Young children's temperament and teacher-child interactions significantly affected young children's peer play interactions, and the effect of teacher-child interactions was larger than the effect of temperament by 2~2.5 times. The results proved the importance of early childhood teachers' roles in the development of young children's peer interactions with consideration of differences based on children's gender and temperament. With the results given, implications and suggestions for further research were discussed.
