마이크로 가스센서의 열적 성능에 관한 연구 (A Study of Thermal Performances for Micro Gas Sensor)

  • A lever type $NO_2$ micro gas sensor was fabricated by MEMS technology. In order to heat up the gas sensing material to a target temperature, a micro heater was built on the gas sensor. The sensing material laid on the heater and electrodes and did not contact with the silicon base to minimize the heat loss to the silicon base. The electric power to heat up the gas sensor to a target temperature was measured. The temperature distribution of micro gas sensor was analyzed by a CFD program. The predicted electric power of micro heater to heat up the sensing material to the target temperature showed a good agreement with the measured data. The design of micro gas sensor could be modified to show more uniform temperature distribution and to consume less electric power by optimizing the layout of micro heater and electrodes.

API 5L X65 배관의 신뢰도 평가를 위한 파열압력 분포 추정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Estimating Burst Pressure Distributions for Reliability Assessment of API 5L X65 Pipes)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to present a probability distribution of the burst pressure of API 5L X65 pipes for the reliability assessment of corroded gas pipelines. Methods: Corrosion is a major cause of weakening the residual strength of the pipe. The mean residual strength on the corrosion defect can be obtained using the burst pressure code. However, in order to obtain the pipe reliability, a probability distribution of the burst pressure should be provided. This study is concerned with estimating the burst pressure distribution using Monte Carlo simulation. A response surface method is employed to represent the distribution parameter as a model of the corrosion defect size. Results: The experimental results suggest that the normal or Weibull distribution should be suitable as the probability distribution of the burst pressure. In particular, it was shown that the probability distribution parameters can be well predicted by using the depth and length of the corrosion defect. Conclusion: Given a corrosion defect on the pipe, its corresponding burst pressure distribution can be provided at instant. Subsequently, a reliability assessment of the pipe is conducted as well.

362 kV GIB 내에서 건조공기의 절연파괴 특성 (Breakdown Characteristics of Dry Air under 362 kV GIB)

  • In this paper, we studied the dielectric breakdown voltage characteristics by the AC withstand voltage test on using green insulation dry air instead of $SF_6$ insulation gas used in the GIB (gas insulated bus) of 362 kV GIS (gas insulated switchgear). The AC withstand voltage test applied to the standard KEPCO's 362 kV GIB with dry air insulation, and the equivalence of dielectric breakdown voltage for dry air and $SF_6$ gas were examined, and the empirical formulas of dielectric breakdown voltage for dry air were calculated, and the criterion of AC withstand voltage test for dry air insulation was derived. Using the criterion, dry air can be used instead of $SF_6$ gas for 362 kV GIB in the factory acceptance test was confirmed.

  • As there are many advantages on underground caverns, such as safety and operation, they can also be used for gas storage purpose. When liquefied gas is stored underground, the cryogenic temperature of the gas will affect the stability of the storage cavern. In order to store the liquefied gas successfully, it is essential to estimate the exact temperature distribution of the rock mass around the cavern. In this study, an analytic solution and a conceptual model that can estimate three-dimensional temperature distribution around the storage cavern are suggested. When calculating the heat transfer within a solid, it is likely to consider the solid as the intersection of two or more infinite or semi-infinite geometries. Therefore heat transfer solution for the solid is expressed by the product of the dimensionless temperatures of the geometries, which are used to form the combined solid. Based on the multi-dimensional transient heat transfer theory, the analytic solution is successfully derived by assuming the cavern shape to be of simplified geometry. Also, a conceptual model is developed by using the analytic solution of this study. By performing numerical experiments of this multi-dimensional model, the temperature distribution of the analytic solution is compared with that of numerical analysis and theoretical solutions.

Effects of galaxy-galaxy encounters on galactic spin and central mass distribution

  • We use smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) models to study the evolution of galactic spin and the distribution of gas and young stars in the inner region of the galaxies through galaxy encounters. Specifically, we perform numerical simulations of interactions of a late- or an early-type galaxy with either a late- or an early-type galaxy with and without a gas halo at the closest approach distances of 25 and 50 kpc. We find that an early-type galaxy encountering a late-type galaxy have a higher galactic spin and more gas and young stars in the central region of the galaxy after the collision. We are analyzing the role of a gas halo on the changes of galactic spin and central mass distribution during various galaxy-galaxy encounters.

  • 회전냉각기에서 일어나는 정상상태 열전달을 1차원으로 해석하였다 회전냉각기로 입력되고 배출되는 공기온도를 경계조건으로 삼았다. 경계 및 조업조건으로부터 2개의 상미분방정식과 2개의 대수방정식을 동시에 만족시키는 해를 계산하여 고체, 공기 벽의 온도분포를 구하였다. 본 연구에서 계산한 외벽온도는 실제 가동중인 회전냉각기에서 실측한 외벽온도와 서로 잘 일치하였다.

  • Compressed natural gas has a high octane number and low particulate emission characteristics as compared with petroleum-based fuels, so it can respond to exhaust gas regulations positively. A natural gas engine has been introduced to improve the quality of the atmosphere, a diversity of fuel, a stable supply, and it has widely been used in city buses and garbage trucks. Recently, the natural gas engine has received attention by overcoming the disadvantage of the theoretical air-fuel ratio method through the development of EGR cooler and engine parts with the development of LP-EGR technology. In this study, we try to develop the cogeneration system that can simultaneously generate electric power and heat by remodeling the gasoline engine to the mixer type CNG engine. As a result, it was able to reduce the NOx (approximately 77%) compared to the diesel engines with same displacement.

독성가스 제거용 기포탑 반응기의 설계기법 (Design Parameters Estimations for Bubble Column Reactors to Remove Toxic Gases)

  • Gas-liquid bubble column reactors are extensively used in industrial processes. A detailed knowledge of bubble size distribution is needed for determining the mass transfer in gas-liquid film. Experimental data on bubble size distribution and liquid-side mass transfer coefficient($k_L$) were used to calculate the estimated time to saturation in bubble column reactor. Also, the gas flux was evaluated to the liquid-side mass transfer coefficient($k_L$) and solubility data for hydrogen sulfide($H_2S$) and chlorine($Cl_2$) absorption into water. Simulation results show that $H_2S$ absorption time to 50 % of saturation concentrations are 611 sec and 1,329 sec when bubble diameters are 0.5 mm and 4.5 mm, while absorbing 1 % $H_2S$ gas. In case of $Cl_2$, absorption time range 657 to 1,400 sec when bubble size range 0.5 mm to 4.5 mm, while absorbing 1 % $Cl_2$ gas. Calculated simulation results can be used in the design of emergency relief bubble reactors.

  • Stockmayer 분자 모델을 도입하여 linear spheroidal 형태의 $C_2H_4$ 기체분자를 사중극자 (quadrupole)분자로 단순화하여 $C_2H_4$ 기체의 동경분포함수 (radial distribution function)를 계산하였다. 또한 이렇게 얻어진 동경분포함수의 신뢰도를 조사하기 위해 여러 온도에서의 밀도 변화에 따른 $C_2H_4$ 기체의 압력을 계산하여 문헌에 알려진 실험치와 비교하였다. 계산에 사용된 온도는 50,100, 그리고 $150^{\circ}C$ 이었으며 조사된 밀도의 범위에 최대 약 $0.02/{\AA}^3$ (최대 압력 = 1500 atm)까지이다. 동경분포함수는 Baker와 Henderson의 섭동이론을 응용하여 Yoon, Hacura, 그리고 Baglin (YHB)에 의해 얻어진 동경분포함수의 형식을 사용하여 컴퓨터로 계산 하였으며 계산 결과는 최대 ${\pm}5%$의 오차범위내에서 실험치와 일치하였다. 이는 YHB 동경분포함수를 사용하여 압력과 같은 밀도변화에 민감한 각종 물리량을 충분히 정확하게 예측할 수 있다는 것을 나타낸다.
