  • In this paper, a game control system was constructed, in which a game was controlled by a remote joystick connected with a power line by the power line communication (PLC) method. The structure of the system was that the connection line between the remote joystick and a PC, and the PC and an audio play device was the home power line. And, the communication data rate between them was 2400 bps. The Polling communication technique was used for the PC to read the joystick's control commands, and to send some acoustic informations to the receiver PLC device. A game was programmed, in which an aircraft was moved according to the joystick's left, right, up, and, down direction, and was shooting its missile after the joystick's shooting button was pushed. The communication delay of about 100 msec between them didn't cause any big problem in playing the game.

  • Recently there has been an increasing interest on tangible games in which human motions are recognized rather than the handling of keyboards and mouses. Such games require a motion controller for recognizing the motions of users. In this paper, we analyze the characteristics of values of accelerator sensors which are generated by a user who perform a tennis swing while holding a smartphone with his/her hand, and propose a method for motion recognition based on DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform). The proposed method enables a smartphone to serve as a motion controller, so that a user can enjoy a tangible tennis game without eliminates a need for buying the device. We developed a tennis game prototype using the proposed method. To our experiment, our method showed a high recognition rate and the usefulness in the game.

  • The method of operating a game could determine the psychological distance between the player and the game character, and thus, in the Virtual Reality, players' control methodologies are important to enhance their immersion. This study has the objective of examining the difference in games according to the method of operation based on the player's movements. This study researched the effect of the method of operating movement conforming to the movement of the character and the physical operation of the body on forming game experiences for the player. The result of performing an experiment increased reality for the game player through a controller in the shape of the actual control, to increase focus in the game. As so, game play through movements, including actual movements by the player displayed to enhance game satisfaction. In the part of media remediation field, Game can be defined as media which has their own unique hypermediacy. Especially, in the motion based game, players' movement mediates players and the game, therefore, players' movement could make players' experience augmented or immediate in accordance with the characteristics of movements. Even though sports and dances genres of motion-based games are common, RPG or adventure genres are rare. It can be explained that the characteristics of the action have been explained in the immediacy. In a game of fantasy, which is difficult to experience in real-life situations, the nature of the player's motion can increase the immersion of the game, which can contribute to utilization of players' motion and experience design in the various genres and suggestion of grounds theory. In addition, through this study, it is able to design motion-based games of various genres.

  • In this paper a new method for the design of a simple PI controller is presented and it has been applied in the control of a Boost based PFC rectifier. The Strength Pareto evolutionary algorithm, which is based on the Pareto Optimality concept, used in Game theory literature is implemented as a multi-objective optimization approach to gain a good transient response and a high quality input current. In the proposed method, the input current harmonics and the dynamic response have been assumed as objective functions, while the PI controller's gains of the PFC rectifier (Kpi, Tpi) are design variables. The proposed algorithm generates a set of optimal gains called a Pareto Set corresponding to a Pareto Front, which is a set of optimal results for the objective functions. All of the Pareto Front points are optimum, but according to the design priority objective function, each one can be selected. Simulation and experimental results are presented to prove the superiority of the proposed design methodology over other methods.

  • This paper presents a cooperative action controller of a multi-agent system. To achieve an object, i.e. win a game, it is necessary that a robot has its own roles, actions and work with each other. The presented incorporated action controller consists of the role selection, action selection and execution layer. In the first layer, a fuzzy logic controller is used. Each robot selects its own action and makes its own path trajectory in the second layer. In the third layer, each robot performs their own action based on the velocity information which is sent from main computer. Finally, simulation shows that each robot selects proper roles and incorporates actions by the proposed controller.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of force feedback on video gamers' performance with two different types of game controllers, and to verify users' consistency on their perceptions of force feedback effect and their actual performances in video games. 42 qualified players' records on a driving video game were analyzed in this study. This study shows 1) the force feedback effect in video games depends on the type of game controllers, 2) there is inconsistency between gamers' perception on the force feedback effect and their actual performances with the force feedback effect, and 3) emotional pleasure (fun factor) plays a big role in gamers' performances.

  • Neuro-feedback is a technology that can identify your brain state and you can intentionally change your brain state. People with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder need this technology but existing neuro-feedback training has a problem, which is not interesting and maintains a static state for a long time. In this paper, we proposed and implemented a neuro-feedback game that combines neuro-feedback and gun-shooting games to enhance concentration training. The neuro-feedback game has been implemented with the design of EEG measurement system, game controller and gamesoft. We hope that this study will be useful for people suffering from attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder.

  • This paper presents the problem of controlling asynchronous sequential machines in the presence of input disturbances, which may be also regarded as an adversary in a game theoretic setting. The main objective is to provide necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a corrective controller that solves model matching problem of an asynchronous machine suffering from input disturbance. The existence condition can be stated in terms of a simple comparison of two skeleton matrices. The proposed controller eliminates the adversarial effect of input disturbance and makes the controlled machine mimic the behavior of a model in stable-state way. Whenever controller exists, algorithms for their design are outlined and demonstrated in a case study.
