Effects of College Student Gambling Experience on the Gambling Problems (대학생의 도박성 게임 경험이 도박문제에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of college student gambling experience on the gambling problems. Methods: The study included 260 students from four-year universities in Seoul and Gangwon Province, and collected data from March 1, 2018 to March 31, 2018. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 23.0. Results: First, gambling experience showed high frequency among males (68.5%), 21 years of age and older (45.5%), boarding house (66.1%), and two or more siblings (40.5%). Second, the gambling problem based on the experience of gambling was statistically significant in academic problem, interpersonal relationship, and gambling control. Third, the mental health of the subjects was highly correlated by interpersonal relationship, gambling recognition and academic problem. Also, academic problem was highly correlated in order of gambling control and interpersonal relationship. Fourth, effects of gambling experience on the gambling problems were identified as gambling control, interpersonal relationships, gambling awareness and mental health. Conclusion: Recognize the seriousness of the gambling problem of college students in order to solve the gambling problem, the government, communities and universities should actively promote the harmful effects of gambling and provide regular mental health. education at universities.

Typology of Gambles: A Study of Gambling Behaviors and Problems (도박유형에 따른 도박행동과 도박문제의 차이)

  • Previous psychological studies in gambling have mainly focused on the characteristics of gamblers. the purpose of the present study was to categorize gambles in Korea into subtypes based on winning probability and money and to examine variations of gambling behaviors and problems across the gamble subtypes. A survey on 1,304 gamble participants were conducted, of their gambling behaviors, personal and social problems, and CPGI. First, factor analyses on perceived winning probability and money revealed 6 subtypes of gambles: amusement type, lottery type, internet type, slot-machine type, racing type and casino type. Secondly, comparisons among gamble subtypes revealed the differences in gambling behaviors, gambling-related cognitions, emotional experiences during gambling, and personal/social problems related to gambling. The gambling behaviors in slot-machine type, racing type, and casino type were more negative than those in amusement type, and lottery type. Gamblers in internet type were found to have potential for latent problems of gambling. In discussion, the academic and practical values and implications of typology of gambles were further discussed.

Study on Perceptions through Big data Analysis on Gambling related News in Korea (한국 사행산업 관련 뉴스의 빅데이터 분석을 통한 인식 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the recognition of gambling industry through the semantic analysis of news data on lottery, sports betting, horse racing and casino that was reported between 1990 to 2015 in South Korea. This paper revealed the difference between journalists' intention and public's perception about news by analyzing the frequency and connectivity of news with framing and public's interest through semantic network analysis and explored the policy characteristics and innovation task. The result of analysis, news on lottery game mainly has been reported social issue related with win such as 'winning number', 'prize money', 'suspicion of manipulation' and etc. News on sports betting has been reported mandatory information related with business project and illegal site such as 'bidding', 'illegal site', 'sales target' and etc. News about horse racing has been reported the information about the business advertisement such as 'online race track' and 'promotion'. Lastly, casino related news has been reported 'major information' such as illegality', 'gambling place' and 'foreigner'. As a result of times series analysis, news about casino in the 1990s, news about lottery in the 2000s and news about horse racing in 2010s have been increased. Public's interest also has been moved to 'business scandal', 'winning game', 'citizens' campaign' and etc. Gambling related news has been classified by four types, 1. advertising publicity(horse racing), 2. mandatory information(sports betting), 3. social issue(public agenda, lottery), 4. major information(casino). We could get the insight that news can be formed a public agenda, when news is reported as a social issue with high frequency and public's interest like lottery related news.

An Analysis on the Sports Ethics Awareness of University Student Athletes (대학 학생선수의 스포츠윤리 인식 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the sports ethics awareness of college student athletes. To this end, data was collected from 312 college student athletes. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistic and chi-square analysis by the experience of college student athlete's intentional defeat, recognition of intentional defeat, cause of match-fixing, and necessity of sports ethics education. The conclusions are as follows. First, 7.1% of the college students had experienced losing intentionally. Second, 16.3% of the college student athletes did not perceive intentional losses irrelevant to gambling as match-fixing. Third, the college student athletes perceived that the causes of match-fixing included illegal pursuit of profits, environmental factors, human relationships, lack of education, etc. Fourth, 8.1% of the college student athletes viewed that sports ethics education is necessary. This study can be used as a basic data of sports ethics education for student athletes and it is expected to grow as a student player who can maintain moral character.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide information to Efficient utilization of human resources management by studying the factors influencing the turnover intention of employees working in the Hospital. The study, the area of medical institutions located in more than 30 hospital-grade medical workers engaged in the collection of data aimed at the September 2010 and October 1 days and 1, 794 were used for the analysis, data processing and analysis package, SPSS 18.0 was used. The findings are as follows: First, the study found that age, job position had a significant and negative effect on turnover intentions. The turnover intention rates were highest among nursing staffs, followed by medical technicians and healthcare supporters and then administrators. Secondly, high degree of autonomy, job skills recognition and less job satisfaction in a positions have been identified to affect the significant. It also has turned out that job suitability and emotional commitment have influenced the turnover intentions.

  • Clustering methods such as k-means and EM are the group of classification and pattern recognition, which are used in management science and literature search widely. In this paper, k-means and EM algorithm are compared the performance using by Weka. The winning Lottery numbers of 567 cases are experimented for our study and presentation. Processing speed of the k-means algorithm is superior to the EM algorithm, which is about 0.08 seconds faster than the other. As the result it is summerized that EM algorithm is better than K-means algorithm with comparison of accuracy, precision and recall. While K-means is known to be sensitive to the distribution of data, EM algorithm is probability sensitive for clustering.

  • In this study, we categorized the subjective recognition of 20's young generation about virtual currency into a few meaningful types and analyzed the characteristics of each type using the Qmethodology. For the Qpopulation, we selected a total of 337 samples which were derived from the Internet search, in-depth interviews, and literature survey, chose the final 51 Qstatements, and performed the Q-classification for the 40 P samples of 20's, including university students. Then, we analyzed the results using the PC-QUANL program. From the analysis, we found meaningful differences between each recognition type, and, after classifying the recognition types into four, we named each of them as 'investment-vehicle' type, 'future-technology' type, 'kind of gambling-like plays' type, and 'foamy faddishness' type. We hope that this research result can contribute to follow-up research and social discussion as base materials.

  • All measures related to the safety of the casino facilities guarantee safety of facilities that are targets of security guards, protect lives and properties, minimize risks of artificial and natural disaster and crimes. In summary, plan for responding to safety and accidents should be developed not only for the casino facilities but also for the facilities of annexed buildings, and lives and properties of customers and employees. Determine areas in the casino facilities that are prone to accidents and set around-the-clock guard in the areas or maintain surveillance with CCTV and prevent accidents through continuous patrol. These are the most basic and the most important requirements in safety. In addition, casinos which prompt gambling are causing economic and psychological treats to families. To resolve these social issues, casinos have adopted limited entrance system. To support this system, new forms of machine security systems such as video automatic recognition system of fingerprint pattern recognition system should be adopted too. In addition, security guards in casino facilities need to instill themselves with a sense of ownership as well as a strong sense of mission to do the best for customer security and to protect the company assets and employees and manage accidents that could occur without notice.   • The history of art during the first half of the last decade was founded the discussion with highly impressive and confident. The art might establish its unique area based on self recognition at that era. The self-confidence of modern art may be possible on enlightenment, which is the firm relationship for knowledge and reality. However the faith of modernism which shows rational tendency, objective, and the existence of universal knowledge has been drastically doubted and criticized thereafter. A internal ideological system which had leaded the modern art was exhausted. Postmodernism revolved to the dramatic openness leaning against the deoedipalizational confession. According to the dissipation of the vitality of modern art postmodern art has been evolved and then various phenomena which follow the trends has been emerged. The avant-garde and resisteive attribute of modern art was diluted fast due to the influx of popular culture. As time goes it can be attracted by spectacle taste than metaphysical peculiarity. It has to inevitably justified the drift of light and quick themes, contents, and images. Such as these phenomena realistically shows fact that postmodern art had been failed to open a new chapter of consilience which intermediates beauty and usual communication to overcome the solipsism of modernism. A trial to pursuit the opened esthetics conceived more 'heroic' 'Star-Subject' than before by dismantling the modern 'Hero-Subject'. Postmodernism has been recorded as a regression of art, which is the technology of profound spirit that mitigates antagonism and confrontation and mediates mutual encountering of human being. Prevailing of postmodern freedom had been accompanied by popularity, osetentation consumption, marketing, gambling level exitement, mixtures of desires with price fluctuations.
