Multipurpose Dam Operation Models for Flood Control Using Fuzzy Control Technique ( I ) - Development of Single Dam Operation Models - (퍼지제어모형을 이용한 다목적 댐의 홍수조절모형( I ) - 단일댐의 운영모형 개발 -)

  • The objective of this study is to develop single dam operation models for flood control using Fuzzy control technique, which can improve flood controllability. We set control rules by water level and inflow, and developed three models Fuzzy I, II, III according to rule to decide outflow. Fuzzy I model consists of six rules considering only flood control and Fuzzy II model considers the effect of water use by increasing water level at the end of flood control period as well as flood control during the same period. Finally, Fuzzy m is an adaptive model designed to perform multipurpose dam operation for both flood control and water use simultaneously based on a control rules.

  • This paper is to design stable fuzzy controller so as to control chaotic nonlinear systems effectively via fuzzy control system and Parallel Distributed Compensation (PDC) design. To design fuzzy control system, nonlinear systems are represented by Takagi-sugeno(TS) fuzzy models. The PDC is employed to design fuzzy controllers from the TS fuzzy models. The stability analysis and control design problems is to find a common Lyapunov function for a set of linear matrix inequalitys(LMIs). The designed fuzzy controller is applied to Rossler system. The simulation results show the effectiveness of our controller.

Fuzzy GMDH-type Model and Its Application to Financial Demand Forecasting for the Educational Expenses

  • In this paper, we developed the fuzzy group method data handling-type (GMDH) Model and applied it to demand forecasting of educational expenses. At present, GMDH family of modeling algorithms discovers the structure of empirical models and it gives only the way to get the most accurate identification and demand forecasts in case of noised and short input sampling. In distinction to fuzzy system, the results are explicit mathematical models, obtained in a relative short time. In this paper, an adaptive learning network is proposed as a kind of fuzzy GMDH. The proposed method can be reinterpreted as a multi-stage fuzzy decision rule which is called as the fuzzy GMDH. The fuzzy GMDH-type networks have several advantages compared with conventional multi-layered GMDH models. Therefore, many types of nonlinear systems can be automatically modeled by using the fuzzy GMDH. A computer program is developed and successful applications are shown in the field of demand forecasting problem of educational expenses with the number of factors considered.

  • Most linguistic models of processes or plants known are essentially static, that is, time is not a parameter in describing the behavior of the object's model. In this paper we show two models for synchronous finite state machines (FSM) based on fuzzy logic, namely the Crisp-State-Fuzzy-Output (CSFO FSM) and Fuzzy-State-Fuzzy Output (FSFO FSM). As a result of the introduction of the FSM models, the improved architectures for fuzzy logic controller have been defined. These architectures featuring pipelined intelligent fuzzy controller are discussed in terms of dimensionality of the model. VLSI integrated circuit implementation issues of the fuzzy logic controller are also considered. The presented approach can be utilized for fuzzy controller hardware accelerators intended to work in the real-time environment.

  • This paper presents the design and development of an optimal fuzzy logic controller (FLC) for a laser tracking system. An optimal intelligent fuzzy logic controller was founded on integral criterion of the fuzzy models and three-dimensional fuzzy control. Research had been also concentrated on the methods for multivariable fuzzy models for the purposes of real-time process. Simulation results have shown remarkable tracking performance of this fuzzy PID controller.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm of fuzzy model modification which improves fuzzy relation matrix for multi-input/single output dynamic systems. Zadeh's possibility distribution plays an important role in the proposed algorithm and in the use of fuzzy models which are constructed by the proposed algorithm. The required computer capacity and time for implementing the proposed algorithm and resulting models are significantly reduced by introducing the concept of the referential fuzzy sets. A nonlinear system is given to show that the proposed algorithm can provide the fuzzy model with satisfactory accuracy.

  • This study suggests the use of fuzzy model in the semiconductor devices modeling as a black box approach. When membership functions of fuzzy sets used in a fuzzy model are simple piecewise-linear functions, the fuzzy model can be reresented in a simple equation. To show that the fuzzy model can be very realistic and simple when used in semiconductor devices modeling, we construct fuzzy models for bipolar transistor, MOSFET and GaAs FET, and compare those with canonical piecewise-linear models.

  • A fuzzy neural network model is presented to predict residual stress for dissimilar metal welding under various welding conditions. The fuzzy neural network model, which consists of a fuzzy inference system and a neuronal training system, is optimized by a hybrid learning method that combines a genetic algorithm to optimize the membership function parameters and a least squares method to solve the consequent parameters. The data of finite element analysis are divided into four data groups, which are split according to two end-section constraints and two prediction paths. Four fuzzy neural network models were therefore applied to the numerical data obtained from the finite element analysis for the two end-section constraints and the two prediction paths. The fuzzy neural network models were trained with the aid of a data set prepared for training (training data), optimized by means of an optimization data set and verified by means of a test data set that was different (independent) from the training data and the optimization data. The accuracy of fuzzy neural network models is known to be sufficiently accurate for use in an integrity evaluation by predicting the residual stress of dissimilar metal welding zones.

  • We, in this paper, design the Sugeno-models fuzzy controller by using the membership function modification algorithm and ANFIS, which are clustering and learning the input-output data. The membership function modification algorithm constructs the more concrete fuzzy controller by clustering the input-output data from the fuzzy inference system. ANFIS construct the Sugeno-models fuzzy controller by learning the input-output data from the above controller. We showed that the fuzzy controller designed by our method could have the stable learning and the enhanced performance.
