  • 과거 냉전시절의 우주개발은 성능이라는 목표에 초점이 맞추어져 있었다. 하지만 냉전 이후 경제성이 우주개발에 있어서 중요한 목표가 되었으며, 이러한 경제성을 확보하기 위한 중요한 수단으로 재사용 발사체에 대한 관심과 연구가 지속적으로 증가하고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같이 진행되고 있는 현재 세계 각국의 재사용 발사체 및 미래추진기관에 대한 기술발전 전망과 방향에 대하여 소개하고자 한다.

친환경농업 해충방제용 제제의 현황과 전망, 그리고 산업화의 중요성 (Status and Future Prospects of Pest Control Agents in Environmentally-friendly Agriculture, and Importance of their Commercialization)

  • The use of bioactive materials derived from microorganisms and plants has played a role in pest management in environmentally-friendly agriculture (EFA) system. In Korea, a number of agricultural agents for the control of insect pests have been registered officially as biopesticides and marketed widely. However, most of the biopesticides has a limitation in the resource availability of bioactive materials, which has been one of main problems related to the commercialization of agricultural agents. Plant materials and microbial metabolites are the best sources as starting components to commercialize natural-occurring agricultural agents for pest management. The lack of modernized system for the standardization and quality control of the starting materials, however, has also received as a main problem related to the commercialization of agricultural agents. Considered that EFA business has kept growing bigger and bigger with global economic status, the commercialization of agricultural agents is necessary to meet the required number of agricultural agents officially available in EFA. This study describes the status and future prospects of pest control agents in EFA. A number of main issues hindered in the commercialization of agricultural agents are discussed in order to present a promising approach to successful commercialization.

Qualitative Literature Approach: The Historical Driving Forces in the South Korean Economic Growth

  • Economic growth is one of the significant benchmarks determining a country's sustainable growth. Before WWII, most countries perceived their priority in terms of military strength as they dedicated most of their efforts and resources to creating weapons of mass destruction. The current research aims to establish some of the significant factors that may have contributed to the sustainable and progressive economic growth of South Korea within the 60-year timeframe. Multiple prior studies have attributed the economic growth in South Korea to policy reforms that opened the country to foreign markets. The outstanding increase in the percentage of exports stands out as an indication of the improvement in the quality of goods produced in the country. Finally, in recent years, China has dedicated more resources to research and developments as a strategy to improve innovation within the country and its overall economic growth. Other issues of concern likely to undermine the prospects of the country's economic growth include the limited geographical size, aging population, and limited natural resources. As such, South Korea needs to emphasize innovation and improve the business environment as its main strategy for sustainable economic growth in the future to maintain its continuous economic miracle.

Examining Indonesia-Qatar Relations through the Five-Dimensional Framework

  • In recent decades, Indonesia and the Middle Eastern countries have increased and expanded their political, security, economic, and socio-cultural ties. Qatar is one of the Middle Eastern countries which have fortified ties with Indonesia. This article aims to analyze the nature and scope of Indonesia-Qatar relations through the five-dimensional framework developed by George Eberling, which consists of political-diplomatic, economic-trade, military-security, cultural, and petroleum-energy relations (Eberling 2017). Despite being significantly distinct in history, demography, geographic size, and location, Jakarta and Doha have been provided opportunities to expand their cooperation on multifaceted dimensions by way of common economic, geopolitical, and cultural interests. Throughout the paper, the primary drivers of the cooperation are also discussed, alongside its future prospects.

우리나라 해운기업의 선박확보 투자 의사결정요인에 관한 연구 (An Analysis on Weighing the Decision Making Factors of Ship Investments for Korean Shipping Companies)

  • 우리나라의 해운업은 2011년 실질 지배선대 기준으로 5천 5백만톤(DWT)를 소유함으로서 그리스, 일본, 독일, 중국에 이어 세계 5위를 차지하고 있으며, 연간 300억불 이상의 운임수입을 벌어들임으로써 경상수지 개선에도 기여하는 중요한 산업이다. 또한 물동량 처리측면에서 수출입물동량의 99% 이상을 수송하는 국가 기간산업이다. 지난 10여년 사이에 우리나라 외항선대는 420척에서 979척으로 대폭 증가하여 향후 전망을 밝게 하고 있다. 선행연구를 분석해보면 이처럼 우리나라 외항상선대가 크게 증가한 원인으로 2004년 선박투자회사제를 통한 선박펀드의 도입, 2005년 톤세제 도입 등의 단편적인 요소에 의한 것으로 제시되고 있다. 하지만 해운기업이 선박투자에 관한 의사결정을 할 때 어떤 요인들을 주로 고려하고, 또한 정부지원 정책 중 어떤 정책에 대한 영향을 크게 느끼고 있는지에 대한 분석은 제한적이었다. 이러한 측면에서 해운기업의 투자의사결정 시 중요한 요소 8가지와 정부의 해운정책 8가지에 대하여 퍼지방법론을 사용하여 중요도 분석을 수행하였다. 먼저, 해운기업의 투자의사결정 시 중요한 요소 8가지측면에서는 '해운시황 및 향후 전망', '현재 선가 및 향후 전망', '화물확보와 향후 수익 전망' 등을 가장 중요한 요인으로 고려하여 의사결정을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 정부의 정책측면에서는 '정책금융기관의 금융지원', '해운보증기금' 및 '선박금융공사의 설립' 등 선박금융 관련 정책을 중요한 요인으로 인식하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

항만의 경쟁력제고를 위한 벤치마킹기법 적용에 관한 연구 (An Application of Benchmarking Method to Improve Port's Competitiveness)

  • Across many industries, benchmarking is considered useful method to improve their service quality and achieve competitive advantage. Benchmarking, especially, has emerged as an increasingly important approach to improving the performance of logistics system and enables successful logistics services and doing good business in logistics services. There are no, however, literature approach for the relationship between benchmarking and port. It is the highest worth researching the application of benchmarking method on the port, since port is the most important component in supply Chain. Therefore, this paper tries to demonstrate the application of the benchmarking method on the port. To do this study, the literature approach developed by several researchers for logistics benchmarking is used as the basic framework. In addition, the following studies are executed: First, the survey of previous studies on logistics benchmarking. Second, finding the indicator and selecting the target in the port benchmarking. Third, the systematic execution schemes of the port benchmarking. Finally, based on the above studies, this paper provides a background for discussions on the future prospects for the application of the benchmarking method on the port.

Urban Dynamics in Northeast Asia and the Future of Korean Cities

  • This paper attempts at analyzing the urban dynamics in Northeast Asia by looking at major forces transforming the regional structure of Northeast Asia. Trade and foreign direct invest-ment are identified as two principal channels of increasing economic interdependence in the region. In addition, macro development strategy and infrastructure policy are another set of determining factors for changes in the regional structure of Northeast Asia. To examine the role of cities and inter-city linkages, the paper first tries to identify major urban centers and urban hierarchy in Northeast Asia. Secondly, it examines the prospects for inter-city network formation. Against these anticipated changes in the regional structure and inter-city networks in Northeast Asia, the paper discusses about the future of Korea as well as the role of Koran cities in the regional economy of Northeast Asia.

  • Since the nation's currency crisis in 1997. Korea reioined the USD 10.000 per capita income group after collapse of per capita income to USD 6.000 due to the minus GDP growth and sharp hike of exchange rate. It has also been expected for Korea to achieve per capita income of USD 20.000. provided that it maintains $10\%$ export increase rate. $5\%$ nominal GDP growth rate. $3\%$ consumer price index. $2\%$ increase in KRW/USD exchange rate. and $1\%$ net population increase rate. Yet. it should be noted that the nation needs to fulfill the necessity of various SOC infrastructure investment in order to achieve this goal. This paper will address the prospects for the future direction of the national SOC policies through the historical examination of the industrialized nations. such as U.S.A.. U.K.. France. and Japan. with regard to the relationships between economic growth and SOC provision. Some efforts will be made to forecast the optimal budget allocation of the national SOC, in particular, between highway and railway sectors.

  • Vision is a process in which the brain and eyes collaborate to enable sight by analyzing light reflected from objects. Vision is also the most crucial among the five basic human senses for recognizing environments. The eyes contain 70% of the sensory receptors in the body, and 90% of the information processed by the brain is visual. Currently, approximately 2.2 billion people worldwide have vision impairments. A recent study estimated that the global economic productivity losses due to vision impairment and blindness amount to approximately $410 billion. Additionally, as people age, their ability to control their vision declines, leading to presbyopia, which typically starts in their 40s. Since people heavily rely on vision in their daily lives, vision problems can significantly reduce the quality of life. Approaches to solving vision problems can be broadly categorized into visual prostheses requiring surgery, sensory substitution based on neuroplasticity, and smart glasses for presbyopia. We present the trends and future development prospects for three key areas of research: visual prostheses, visual substitution technologies, and smart glasses technologies. These areas are being explored with the aim of addressing visual impairments and blindness.

도시 근교 농촌마을의 농촌성 차이에 관한 연구 - 울산시 두 농촌 마을의 사례 - (The Difference in the Rurality of Rural Villages near a Metropolitan City - The Case of Two Villages near by Ulsan -)

  • This study aims to examine the difference in the rurality of rural villages near a metropolitan city. It investigated the general status and economic activities of the two villages near Ulsan Metropolitan City to find out what the differences are and to diagnose the reasons for such differences and their impact on future changes in the villages. Through this survey analysis, it found that the two villages have been continuously experiencing a decrease in population over the last 10 years, despite being near large cities. In addition, it also identified the characteristics of the agricultural and livestock industries taking center stage in economic activities. In other words, although the cases are rural villages near a big city, it was shown that the village near a provincial city is basically based on agricultural characteristics. Regarding future prospects, on the one hand, in the case of Dagae-ri, the villagers expect that the current livestock industry-oriented activities may continue to develop. On the other hand, in the case of Shinhwa-ri, the residents think that the rural characteristics may be rapidly lost and urbanized. Based on these findings, this study suggests that rural policies for villages near large cities also need to be applied in a discriminatory manner, taking into account the basis on which economic activities in the villages are developed.
