The trend towards employee involvement (EI) has redefined the employer-employee relationship and, for many organizations, has brought about a fundamental change in organizational performance. This paper begins with a review of EI concepts and typologies. It goes on to elaborate need for the adoption of EI practices and discuss the factors affecting the adoption. The main theme of the quality management (QM) literature will then be presented addressing its concepts, principles and elements. Drawing on the theoretical and practitioners' perspectives, the paper also discusses the significance of integrating EI/QM practices to sustain organizational performance improvement.

Objectives: This paper reviews the main principles and values underlying health promotion and reflects upon recent health promotion efforts in Korea. Methods: The essay approaches these issues through the framework of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion (WHO, 1986) and other related (WHO) documents. The Ottawa Charter has been an important basis for health promotion worldwide over the last three decades since 1986. Emphasizing the instrumental value of health and the prerequisites for health, it provides the definition of health promotion and elaborates the strategies for health promotion as well as the main health promotion actions. Results: Beyond the values of health as both a fundamental human right and a resource for everyday life, the values and principles related to health promotion shown in WHO documents and other literature include holism, social justice and equity, public and community participation, autonomy, empowerment, socioecological approaches to health, sustainability, intersectoral collaboration, partnership-building, responsibility for health, and so on. Conclusions: Reflecting, subjectively, on health promotion efforts in Korea, some values, including holism in terms of target population, equity, public and community participation, empowerment, and socio-ecological approaches have been realized to some extent, while other values like intersectoral collaboration and partnership have not been considered sincerely in public efforts relating to health promotion. Therefore, future health promotion efforts in Korea should concentrate on incorporating these critical values and principles-based approaches into health promotion activities.

자본주의 사회의 확립 이후 전 지구적 차원의 환경오염과 경제적 양극화 등 다양한 사회문제가 야기되고 있다. 이에 대한 대안으로 공유자원에 대한 논의가 증가하고 있는데, 공유자원 관리의 제도적 원리를 분석한 엘리너 오스트롬과 공동체 내부의 상호관계를 강조한 마리아 미즈가 대표적이다. 같은 맥락으로 이 논문에서는 과도한 자본주의 체제 안에서 야기되는 사회문제를 공유자원 관리체계를 통해 해결할 수 있음을 증명하고자 하며, 더 나아가 성공적으로 운영되는 공유자원제도의 원리를 파악함으로써 대량소비사회가 일으킬 자원부족시대의 대비방안을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위하여 제주해녀 공동체의 공유어장관리를 우수사례로 선정하여 원리를 분석하였으며, 질적 조사를 통한 추가적인 원리 추출 및 확대적용 방법을 모색하였다. 제주해녀 문화에 대한 본질적 이해 및 향후 보전전략에도 일부 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

본 논문에서는, 무선 셀룰러 네트워크와 Mobile IP 기반의 네트워크를 위해 제안되었던 기존의 다양한 위치 관리 기법들에 대한 광범위한 소개 및 분류법을 제시한다. 또한, 기존에 제안되었던 다양한 위치 관리 기법들로부터, 네트워크의 종류와 관계없이 위치 관리 기법들의 이해를 돕기 위한 유용한 가이드를 제공할 수 있는 공통의 핵심 기술들 및 주요 설계상의 목표와 성능 고려 사항 등을 도출해 낸다. 본 논문의 목적은 위치 관리를 위한 새로운 기법을 제안하는 것이라기보다는, 기존에 제안되었던 위치관리 기법들의 다양한 설계상의 핵심적인 특징들을 도출해내고, 차세대 무선 이동 네트워크에서 보다 효율적이고 최적화된 위치 관리 기법을 설계하기 위해 근간이 되는 핵심 개념 및 기술들에 대한 통찰력을 향상시키는 것을 그 목적으로 한다. 또한, 이러한 근간이 되는 개념 및 기술들은 네트워크의 종류와 관계없이 향후의 이동 컴퓨팅 환경에서 보다 효율적인 이동성 및 서비스 품질 제공을 위해서도 쉽게 적용될 수 있을 것으로 기대되는 바이다.

Thorium compounds have attracted immense scientific and technological attention with regard to both fundamental and practical implications, owing to unique chemical and physical properties like high melting point, high density and thermal conductivity. Hereby, we investigate the mechanical and thermodynamic stability and report on the structural, electronic and magnetic properties of new silicon-doped cubic ternary thorium phosphides ThSi_xP_1-x (x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1). The first-principles density functional theory procedure was adopted within full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method. The exchange and correlation potential terms were treated within Generalized-Gradient-Approximation functional modified by Perdew-Burke-Ernzerrhof parameterizations. The proposed compounds showed mechanical and thermodynamic stable structure and hence can be synthesized experimentally. The calculated lattice parameters, bulk modulus, total energy, density of states, electronic band structure and spin magnetic moments of the compounds revealed considerable correlation to the Si substitution for P and the relative Si/P doping concentration. The electronic and magnetic properties of the doped compounds rendered them non-magnetic but metallic in nature. The main orbital contribution to the Fermi level arises from the hybridization of Th(6d+5f) and (Si+P)3p states. Reported results may have potential implications with regard to both fundamental point of view and technological prospects such as fuel materials for clean nuclear energy.

이 글은 문화재 관련 법령에서 '원형'이라는 철학적 개념이 어떻게 표현되어 있으며, 해당 규정의 법률적 성격은 무엇인지, 실제 문화재 관리행위별로 적용되는 양태는 어떠한지 등을 살펴보고, 법적 구속력있는 기본원칙으로 작용하기 위해 필요한 사항은 무엇이 있는지를 설명하고 있다. 현행 문화재 관련 법령은 일반 국민, 문화재 종사자에게 '원형'을 유지할 것을 기속행위로 강요하고 있으나, 실체적 규정없이 선언적 당위적으로만 명시하고 있을 뿐이다. 이에 따라 실제 행정업무에 있어서도 원형이 무엇인지 밝히지 않고 절차적 규정만 준수하여 문화재를 원형으로 보존, 관리, 활용하려는 태도를 보이고 있다. '원형' 관련 규정이 실체적 법규성을 갖고 문화재 관리활동 전반에 구속력있게 적용되기 위해서는 많은 실체 규정을 보완해야 하며, 이 경우 명확성 원칙, 평등의 원칙, 비례의 원칙 등 규범통제의 기본원리에 위반되지 않도록 할 필요가 있다. 여전히 '원형' 원칙은 문화재 보호에 가장 필요한 개념이기에 법적 흠결없는 정합성있는 규범체계를 갖출 필요가 있다.

International transactions have the threat of non-payment by the buyer or non-performance by the seller. Parties tend to search for additional means of securing performance and payment beyond the mere agreement in the contract. Such security may be achieved by means of a letter of credit. When contracting parties have agreed to pay by means of a letter of credit, the buyer's bank takes upon itself the obligation to pay the purchase price when the seller tenders the documents that are stipulated in the letter of credit. The documents must comply strictly with the terms of the credit.. The documents play a crucial role in letter of credit transaction. The principles of abstraction, separability and strict compliance governing the letter of credit transaction are considered. The concept of fundamental breach of Article 25 CISG was discussed. This article examines whether a failure to deliver documents conforming to the terms of the letter of credit can constitute a fundamental breach of the sales contract as defined by Article 25 of the CISG by the seller and thereby enable the buyer to avoid the contract. For letter of credit transactions it should be accepted that the delivery of non-performing documents constitutes a fundamental breach, if the result of this breach is that the bank refuses to pay the price for the goods. On the other hand, in the interpretation of Article 25 CISG, it should be noted that if the parties have agreed to payment by means of a letter of credit, they have simultaneously agreed to apply the strict compliance principle to the delivery of documents in the sales contract. Finally the parties should ensure that inconsistency between the requirements under the documentary credit and the requirements under the contract of sale is avoided, since the buyer may be in breach of his payment obligation if the seller cannot get paid under the documentary credit when his documents conform with the contract of sale.

1. Objectives: This research was proposed to find out how the recognition on Mangeum-syndrome(亡陰證) of Soyangin in Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM) evolved from "Donguisusebowon-GabObon(東醫壽世保元甲午本)"(DGO) to "Donguisusebowon-ShinChukbon(東醫壽世保元辛丑本)"(DSC). 2. Methods: We compared "Donguisusebowon-GabObon(東醫壽世保元甲午本)"(DGO) with "Donguisusebowon-ShinChukbon(東醫壽世保元辛丑本)"(DSC) to know how the symptom, mechanism, treatment principle and treatment methods on Mangeum-syndrome(亡陰證) of Soyangin in Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM). 3. Results and Conclusions: (1) The way to categorize the Exterior Disease and Interior Disease was different between DSC and DGO. (2) There was only a fundamental mechanism about the Boktongseolsa-syndrome(gastralgia and diarrhea) and no treatment principles and treatment methods about it in DGO. But the Boktongseolsa-syndrome was evolved into Mangeum-syndrome(亡陰證) in DSC with a detailed mechanism and treatment principles of it. (3) The evolution of Mangeum-syndrome(亡陰證) in DSC from Boktongseolsa-syndrome in DGO was attributed to the experience of treatment on Seomeo-syndrome(譫語證).

Using first principles calculations we unveil fundamental mechanism of hydrolysis reactions of two hazardous chemicals $PCl_3$ and $POCl_3$ with molecular water clusters nearby. It is found that the water molecules play a key role as a catalyst significantly lowing the activation barriers by transferring its protons to the reaction intermediates. Interestingly, torsional angles of molecular complexes at transition states are identified as a vital descriptor on the reaction rate. Analysis of charge distribution over the complexes further reinforces the finding with atomic level correlation between the torsional angle and variation of the orbital hybridization state of P in the complex. Electronic charge separation (or polarization) enhances thermodynamic stability of the activated complex at transition state and reduces the activation energy through hydrogen bonding network with water molecules nearby. Calculated potential energy surfaces (PES) for the hydrolysis reactions of $PCl_3$ and $POCl_3$ depict their two contrastingly different profiles of double- and triple-deep wells, respectively. It is ascribed to the unique double-bonding O=P in the $POCl_3$. Our results on the activation free energy show well agreements with previous experimental data within $7kcalmol^{-1}$ deviation.
