This study reconsidered the characteristics of the narrative through the analysis of the meaning and function of the film music in the feature film "The Truman Show". Especially, this study was focused on the music of Philip Glass among the film music of this film, and it started from the analysis of his musical meaning and function written in the pre-existing film according to the use of the editing music. As the film music needs to be analyzed from the viewpoint of the storytelling of the narrative of the film, the music is analyzed through 12 functions of the background music. Throughout the film, Philip Glass's music has been very important in the scenes of amplification, climax, and resolution of conflict. Especially, in the important context of the character and narrative structure of the film, such as the amplification of the tension and the resolution of the tension in the conflict of Truman, the main character of the film, Philip Glass's music is important through the contrast of the tempo of music and the contrast of emotional character. It can also be understood that this contrasts with the character and storytelling of the film in terms of film musical contrasts.

The functions of playing musics and multimedia have become essential in one device as a smart phone since the smart phone appeared. It is very convenient, but it contains controversial arguments about sound quality, so many smart phone users use the music player application. By using these music applications, people start to think about the relationship between music playing and sound quality. However, those applications are not perfect, so it is hard to choose a good application. This thesis is about the advantages of the sound quality of music player applications that are currently sold in Android Market through RightMark Audio Analyzer program, and plans to suggest android music player application system design by analyzing applications by covering disadvantages of these applications.

This study compared and analyzed 15 CBMR (Content-based Music Retrieval) systems accessible on the web in terms of DB size and type, query type, access point, input and output type, and search functions, with reviewing features of music information and techniques used for transforming or transcribing of music sources, extracting and segmenting melodies, extracting and indexing features of music, and matching algorithms for CBMR systems. Application of text information retrieval techniques such as inverted indexing, N-gram indexing, Boolean search, truncation, keyword and phrase search, normalization, filtering, browsing, exact matching, similarity measure using edit distance, sorting, etc. to enhancing the CBMR; effort for increasing DB size and usability; and problems in extracting melodies, deleting stop notes in queries, and using solfege as pitch information were found as the results of analysis.

The objective of this study is to analyze educational web-sites and digital contents for elementary music class according to the 2015 revised music curriculum. First, the current status of educational web-sites that are most actively used in music class were reviewed. And the characteristics of the digital contents included in the web-sites for music education were analyzed. the primary analysis was about the service of the web-sites, and the secondary analysis was about the type of digital contents and the contents of music education. The most actively used web-sites in music classes were Edunet T-Clear, T-Sherpa, i-scream, Indischool, which differed slightly from the web-site's services and the type of digital content and contents. Specifically, the main functions for supporting music classes, the reflection of the curriculum contents, the systematicity of the materials, the objectivity and the on-site nature, and the connection with other subjects appeared differently. In order to effectively utilize digital contents in elementary music class, first, expertise of teachers for timely use of web-sitesand digital contents is required. Second, the development and utilization of various digital contents for the nature of music education is required.

As the computer technology is developed, score-writers that can edit music have more improved functions. A user not only can insert notes, chords, and musical symbols conveniently, but also can listen to music displayed in the score. Existing commercial score-writers make scores look good and play notes through VSTi(Virtual Studio Technology instrument). However chord accompaniment function is so vulnerable that it is hard to know whether or not displayed chords are suitable for music. If a score-writer has a proper function that plays chord sound good to hear, it will be a good reference to band music sheet writers. In this paper, to improve chord playback function in existing score-writers, we propose an algorithm that selects suitable chord tones for chord playback and implemented a program. If we apply this algorithm, the chord play function of a score-writer will be strengthened and resultantly a music sheet writer who makes a band music can make scores more conveniently.

The purpose of this study was to identify research that included the rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) technique and to compare this body of research within the field of music therapy with that in physical therapy. Forty-five studies were identified that were published from January 1999 through November 2018, and these were analyzed in terms of intervention procedure, type of rhythmic cueing, and therapeutic basis described by the researcher. While research in both fields used rhythmic cueing as the primary therapeutic agent, differences were found in the area targeted by training and specific type of rhythmic cueing used. Research conducted in the field of music therapy focused primarily on gait function, while research in the field of physical therapy tended to address gait-related physical issues, such as balance, muscle strength, and proprioceptive sensation as well as gait. While all of the identified studies from the field of music therapy used music for cueing, a metronome was used more often for cueing in physical therapy research. In terms of description of theoretical basis, theory of entrainment was more sufficiently described in music therapy research. These results indicate that while music therapy research maximized the role of various elements of music in intervening in gait function, physical therapy research addressed gait in relation to other physical functions. Considering that both aspects are essential for gait training, this study supports the need for a multidisciplinary approach to neurological rehabilitation with RAS.

Vocal and instrument apprenticeship in applied music has been accepted without significant changes since the introduction of applied music education to South Korea. Few discussions or suggestions about other types of teaching than 'one-to-one lessons' or 'education of apprentices by assigned specialists' have been made. Since the introduction of applied music education to South Korea late in the 1980s, the CAI(Computer Aided Instruction) courseware development for applied music education has not actively been under way. The area of applied music has also made rapid progress in terms of music producing or music videos using computers. Actually, the improved computer program is not positively applied to applied music education. This study aimed to present learning methods using the improved functions of music production softwares to improve the traditional apprenticeship system in the area of vocal training in applied music. In particular, it used the technique of auto tune-pitch shift developed for interval correction in sound sources. By giving real-time feedbacks concerning intervals or monitors visually after recording, it intended to present a learning method to induce improvement in accuracy of intervals in vocal training. This study is expected to present a method that allows vocal trainers to overcome temporal and spatial limitations in applied music and make their vocal training more efficient.

The purpose of this study was to validate the Korean version of RESPECT-Music, which measures personal, social and cultural function of music, and to examine the correlation between the measured RESPECT data and the data measured from other scales for emotions. A survey was conducted with two separate groups of undergraduate students. Exploratory factor analysis with sample A (N=212) and confirmatory factor analysis and correlation analyses with sample B (N=296) were conducted. The result of exploratory factor analysis generated 10 factors as influential factors in music use, which was the similar results to the original scale: background, values, focus, dancing, family bonding, cultural identity, political attitudes, venting, emotional expression and social bonding. In the confirmatory factor analysis, this 35-item measurement was found to obtain adequate internal consistency and reliability. In addition, the correlations were found with other scales measuring emotional adjustment. Specifically, RESPECT showed a positive correlation with scales for positive affect, reappraisal, negative mood regulation and repair. Among the generated factors as music function, dancing was highly correlated with emotional adjustment, while political attitudes was negatively correlated with emotional adjustment. The results indicate that music use in our everyday lives is intercorrelated with the intrapersonal and interpersonal motives and emotional adjustment, while the function of music that influences cultural identity was not associated with the level of emotional adjustment. Implications for future studies were also suggested.

The advanced and complicated modern society recognizes image creation based on the identity of the global competitive age as the important means. The requirement for a new vision to the globally environmental problem has affected on design so that as environmentally-friendly products and technologies have been developed and original expression modes have been appeared which the medium of paper which is natural material, paper has been highlighted newly. Hanji made of mulberry fiber, a bast fiber of mulberry is a representative environment-friendly natural fiber. In addition, it has various functions similar to those of yellow earth such as emission of far infrared rays, antibiosis, deodorization, fast dry ability of sweat, and simple dyeing ability. It is Hanji threads that are produced from various processes of Hanji materials. Therefore, hanji threads are able to be both woven and knitted still remaining Hanji's excellent characteristics. In addition, it is light, bio-degradable, durable and washable, and it is an environment friendly product with the distinguished texture and sensitivity. Under the concept of 'Circle' designed the uniforms of music hall to inform that the uniforms as a media representing music hall represents the unique Sori Arts Center of Jeollabuk-do traditional style.

The purpose of this study was to examine formative aesthetic characteristics and aesthetical value of the intraculturalism expressed in contemporary fashion and to confirm the functions of intraculturalism to establish, visualize, perform the racially indeterminate, ethnically neutral, culturally diverse or ambiguous identity. For this study, the applications of the intraculturalism shown in mass media and consumer culture, such as music, fashion advertisements and collections of high fashion designers from 2004 to 2008 have been analyzed and compared. The results were as follows: The Intraculturalism is reflected in the muticultural music such as Afropean, Jawaiian, Reggaeton and Asian Hip Hop. Intracultural music genres create the hybrid music and fashion culture through mixing, matching and blending one and another culture. Advertisement campaigns for Louis Vuitton, YSL Beauty, Gap and H&M stores have all purposely highlighted models with mixed racial heritage. It is reflected in the latest youth fashion market trend using face that are ethnically ambiguous. The increasingly multiracial, multicultural population is due to intermarriage and waves of immigration. The rising mixed race designers, Narciso Rodriguez, Hussein Chalayan, Vera Wang and DooRi Chung, not only compromise and amalgamate different cultural elements of their heritage and contemporary life but also create new look and fashion image. The characteristics of intraculturalism expressed in the 21st century fashion could categorized into de-genre, de-nationality, de-race and de-culture.
