Learning assistance system that continuously measures user's concentration will be helpful to grasp the concentration pattern and adjust the learning method accordingly to improve the learning efficiency. Although a lot of various learning aids have been proposed, there have been few studies on the concentration monitoring system in real time. Therefore, in this study, we developed an Android-based mobile application that can measure concentration during study by using functional near-infrared spectroscopy, which is used to measure brain activity. First, the task accuracy was predicted at a maximum level of 93.75% from the prefrontal oxygenation characteristics measured while performing the visual Q&A task on 11 college students, and a concentration calculation formula based on a linear regression model was derived. Then, a survey on the usability of the mobile application was conducted, overall high satisfaction and positive opinions were obtained. From these findings, this application can be used as a customized learning aid application for users, and further, it can help educators improve the quality of classes based on the level of concentration of learners.
The objective of the present study was to determine the best model to describe and quantify the changes in live body weight, height at withers, height at rump, body length and chest girth of Holstein cows raised under Korean feeding conditions for 50 months. The five standard growth models namely polynomial linear regression models, regression of growth variables on the first and second-order of ages in days (model 1) and regression of growth variables on age covariates from first to the third-order (model 2) as well as non-linear models were fitted and evaluated for representing growth pattern of Holstein cows raised in Korean feeding circumstances. Nonlinear models fitted were three exponential growth curve models; Brody, Gompertz, and von Bertalanffy functional models. For this purpose, a total of 22 Holstein cows raised in Korea used in the period from April 2016 to May 2020. Each model fitted to monthly growth curve records of dairy cows by using PROC NLIN procedure in SAS program. On the basis of the results, nonlinear models showed the lower root mean square of error (RMSE) for live body weight, height at withers, height at rump, body length and chest girth (12.22, 1.95, 1.55, 4.04, 2.06) with higher correlation coefficiency (R2) values for live body weight, height at withers, height at rump, body length and chest girth (0.99, 0.99, 0.99, 1.00, 1.00). Overall, the evaluation of the different growth models indicated that the Gompertz model used in the study seemed to be the most appropriate one for standard growth of Holstein cows raised under Korean feeding system.

Chemokines are key factors that influence the migration and maintenance of relevant immune cells into an infected tissue or a tumor microenvironment. Therefore, it is believed that the controlled administration of chemokines in the tumor microenvironment may be an effective immunotherapy against cancer. Previous studies have shown that CCL3, also known as macrophage inflammatory protein 1-alpha, facilitates the recruitment of dendritic cells (DCs) for the presentation of tumor Ags and promotes T cell activation. Here, we investigated the role of CCL3 in regulating the tumor microenvironment using a syngeneic mouse tumor model. We observed that MC38 tumors overexpressing CCL3 (CCL3-OE) showed rapid regression compared with the wild type MC38 tumors. Additionally, these CCL3-OE tumors showed an increase in the proliferative and functional tumor-infiltrating T cells. Furthermore, PD-1 immune checkpoint blockade accelerated tumor regression in the CCL3-OE tumor microenvironment. Next, we generated a modified CCL3 protein for pre-clinical use by fusing recombinant CCL3 (rCCL3) with a non-cytolytic hybrid Fc (HyFc). Administering a controlled dose of rCCL3-HyFc via subcutaneous injections near tumors was effective in tumor regression and improved survival along with activated myeloid cells and augmented T cell responses. Furthermore, combination therapy of rCCL3-HyFc with PD-1 blockade exhibited prominent effect to tumor regression. Collectively, our findings demonstrate that appropriate concentrations of CCL3 in the tumor microenvironment would be an effective adjuvant to promote anti-tumor immune responses, and suggest that administering a long-lasting form of CCL3 in combination with PD-1 blockers can have clinical applications in cancer immunotherapy.
In this research, we examined the shifts in determinants influencing the frequency of eco-friendly food purchases pre- and post-COVID-19. Our analysis utilized filtered 2019-2021 Consumption Behavior Survey data from the Korea Rural Economic Institute Food, excluding any irrational responses. Given the nature of the dependent variable, a multinomial logistic regression model was employed with demographic factors, variables pertaining to food consumption behavior, and variables concerning food consumption awareness as predictors. Following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, an individual's level of education was observed to positively influence the frequency of eco-friendly food purchases. In contrast, income level and fluctuations in food consumption expenditure did not appear to have a discernible impact on the purchasing frequency of such eco-friendly products. Irrespective of the advent of COVID-19, variables such as the frequency of online food purchases, the utilization of early morning delivery services, dining out frequency, and the intake of health-functional foods consistently demonstrated a positive correlation with the propensity to purchase eco-friendly foods. Overall, consumers prioritizing safety, quality, and nutrition over price, taste, and convenience in their procurement decisions for rice, vegetables, meat, and processed foods exhibit an increased inclination toward the acquisition of eco-friendly food products.
We consider the following semi-parametric non-linear mixed effect regression model : y\ulcorner=f($\chi$\ulcorner;$\beta$)+$\sigma$$\mu$($\chi$\ulcorner)+$\sigma$$\varepsilon$\ulcorner,i=1,…,n,y*=f($\chi$;$\beta$)+$\sigma$$\mu$($\chi$) where y'=(y\ulcorner,…,y\ulcorner) is a vector of n observations, y* is an unobserved new random variable of interest, f($\chi$;$\beta$) represents fixed effect of known functional form containing unknown parameter vector $\beta$\ulcorner=($\beta$$_1$,…,$\beta$\ulcorner), $\mu$($\chi$) is a random function of mean zero and the known covariance function r(.,.), $\varepsilon$'=($\varepsilon$$_1$,…,$\varepsilon$\ulcorner) is the set of uncorrelated measurement errors with zero mean and unit variance and $\sigma$ is an unknown dispersion(scale) parameter. On the basis of finite-sample, small-dispersion asymptotic framework, we derive an absolute lower bound for the asymptotic mean squared errors of prediction(AMSEP) of the regular-consistent non-linear predictors of the new random variable of interest y*. Then we construct an optimal predictor of y* which attains the lower bound irrespective of types of distributions of random effect $\mu$(.) and measurement errors $\varepsilon$.
The actual power performance of historical structural change tests are compared under various alternatives. The tests of interest are F, CUSUM, MOSUM, Moving Estimates and empirical distribution function tests with both recursive and ordinary least-squares residuals. Our comparison of the structural tests involves limiting distributions under the hypothesis, the ability to detect the alternative hypotheses under one or double structural change, and smooth change in parameters. Even though no version is uniformly superior to the other, the knowledge about the properties of those tests and connections between these tests can be used in practical structural change tests and in further research on other change tests.
A series of dimethine cyanine dyes were synthesized in a fast, efficient and high yield by the condensation of quaternary salts with 1H-indole-3-carbaldehyde in the presence of piperidine under solvent-free microwave irradiation. The products were identified by 1H NMR, IR, UV-Vis spectra and elemental analysis. The absorption and fluorescence properties of these dyes were investigated both experimentally and theoretically. Calculations performed at a combination of time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) and the polarizable continuum model (PCM) reproduced the π-π* type absorption bands of the dyes. Regression analysis was used for studying theoretical results of the absorption maxima in different solvents. Compared with experimental counterparts, estimated overall uncertainties in the absorption maxima were about ±2%.
The purpose of this study is to research the influence of soundscape in the preference of landscape. Specifically, Standards types of communications are applied to the landscape such as artificial waterscapes and natural valley. The spatial image was analyzed by the variables of Kaplan´s information processing model. The level of visual preferences was measured by a type of acoustic information in landscape and media of communication, and these data were analyzed by multiple regression. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; The value of landscape preference was not different from all fluent of coherence, complexity, legibility ,mystery and preference utilized the communication media, but it was different by the type of acoustic information in landscape. These results clearly show the influence of sound affecting decisions of landscape preference. The factors determining the level of landscape preference were found to be coherence, complexity, legibility, mystery and dummy variables of acoustic information in landscape and media od communication. These variables amy be the major factors which must be considered on planning and designing as the functional basis for the quantitative analysis.
The factors and mechanism of arm surface changes were analyzed by regression analysis for the relationship between changes in arm joint angle and arm surface changes, according to the direction of upper extremity motion. Body surface change patterns among subjects were tested also. Experiments were carried out on 3 female subjects of different body types to examine 26 motions in 4 directions for 4 upper extremity parts. The major conclusions of the study are as follows: 1. The expansion or contraction of arm surface length depends on the direction of upper extremity motion. 2. Arm surface length changes by linear expansion or contraction according to the joint angle of the direction of motion. The mechanism of arm surface changes is represented by a linear relation between arm surface changes and the (actors of the direction of upper extremity motion and arm joint angle. 3. Arm surface length shows the same pattern of body surface changes regardless of body type. A quantitative model of body surface changes at upper extremity should be developed for functional sleeve design.
