ISAAC : An Integrated System with User Interface for Sentence Analysis (ISAAC :문장분석용 통합시스템 및 사용자 인터페이스)

  • This paper introduces ISAAC (An Interface for Sentence Analysis & Abstraction with Cogitation) which provides an integrated user interface for sentence analysis. Into ISAAC, the various linguistic tools and resources are integrated. They are necessary for sentence analysis. Most of the tools and resources for sentence analysis are developed and accumulated independently. In the sentence analyzing with these tools and resources, it is difficult for sentence analyst to manage and control information which is taken on each step. In this respect, we have integrated the usable tools and resources, and made ISAAC to provide the consistent user oriented interface to each function. We have been able to divide sentence analysis process Into 14 steps. In ISAAC, these steps are processed by four individual modules $\cicled1$syntactic analysis of sentence,$\cicled2$retrieval of a root word,$\cicled3$searching category information in Roget s Thesaurus, and $\cicled4$searching category information in OfN(Ontology for Narratives). Therefore, in case of sentence analysis with ISAAC, the process of total 14 steps falls into 4 steps. This means that it is able to improve the performance of sentence analyst to the extent 3.5 times or more. Furthermore, ISAAC undertaking tedious transcription needed to process each step, we expect that ISAAC can help the analyst to maintain the accuracy of sentence analysis.

Assessment of Availability of Korean Computerized Neurobehavioral Test in Patients with Brain Injury (뇌손상 환자에서 컴퓨터 신경행동검사의 유용성 평가)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the correlation between the Korean version of Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE-K) and the Korean Computerized Neurobehavioral Test (KCNT) and the usefulness of KCNT for discriminating the patients with suspected dementia from normal persons in patients with a brain injury. The results of each items of KCNT had passed the test for normality. T test for group comparison and bivariate correlation analysis for correlation between two tests were used. There were no significant differences in characteristics of two groups. The differences in results of eight tests of KCNT between two groups were statistically significant (p<.05) and the Pearson correlation coefficients (r) between two tests were statistically significant (p<.05) : simple reaction time (-.580), choice reaction time (-.341), color word vigilance (-.661), digit classification (-.703), 2-digit addition (-.582), 3-digit addition (-.610), symbol digit substitution (-.642), and digit span (.807). These results suggested that simple reaction time and 2-digit addition were useful in discriminating the patients with suspected dementia from normal persons because the Pearson correlation coefficients of the two items of KCNT showed anticlastic association between two groups. And each items of KCNT may use in follow up cognitive function for patients in two groups.

Total Dietary Fiber and Mineral Absorption

  • The consumption of foods rich in TDF should not be associated with impaired mineral absorp-tion and long-term mineral status. In surveys of populations consuming high amounts of TDF e.g Third World populations and vegetarinas gross deficiencies in mineral nutrition have not been noted. If mineral status is low among these groups it is most likely caused by the inadequacy or imbalance of the diet and not by the TDF. The key word is interaction which should be inte-rpreted in dietary imbalances that produce nut-rient deficiencies. There are no strong data to support the concept that TDF inhibits mineral absorption through a binding chelation mechanism. Limited data sug-gest that positively charged groups on polymers such as chitosan and cholestyramine will decrease iron absorption in humans and animals. Because TDF does not contain positively charged groups future research should be directed at the possible role of protein consumed along with TDF and the combination of effects on mineral nutrition Phytic acid is acknowledged as a potent chela-tor of zinc. However its association with zinc and its propensity to lower Zn bioavaiability may enhance the absorption of other elements notably copper and iron. The importance of interactions among nutrients including TDF will gain addi-tional attention in the scientific community. Soluble and insoluble dietary fiber function di-fferently in the intestine. Insoluble fibers accele-rate movement through the intestine. Soluble die-tary fibers appear to regulated blood concentra-tions of glucose and cholesterol albeit by some unknown mechanism. In creased viscosity produ-ced by the SDF in the intestine may provide an explanation of how this class of polymers affects plasma glucose cholesterol and other nutrients. Employing a double-perfusion technique in the rat we demonstrated that viscosity produced by SDF will delay transfer of zinc into the circulatory system. This delayed absorption should not be interpreted as decreased utilization. A great deal of additional research is required to prove the importance of luminaly viscosity produced by SDF on slowing nutrient absorption or regulating bllod nutrient homeostasis. Increased intake of TDF in the total human diet appears desirable. A dietary intake of 35g/day should not be considered to have a negative effect on mineral absorption. It is important to educate people that an intake of more than 35g TDF/day may cause an imbalance in the diet that can adve-rsely affect mineral utilization. Acknowledgments.   • The world of ubiquitous computing is one in which we will be surrounded by an ever-richer set of networked devices and services. Especially, mobile phone now becomes one of the key issues in ubiquitous computing environments. Mobile phones have been infecting our normal lives more thoroughly, and are the fastest technology in human history that has been adapted to people. In Korea, the number of mobile phones registered to the telecom company, is more than the population of the country. Last year, the numbers of mobile phone sold are many times more than the number of personal computer sold. The new advanced technology of mobile phone is now becoming the most concern on every field of technologies. The mix of wireless communication technology (wifi) and mobile phone (smart phone) has made a new world of ubiquitous computing and people can always access to the network anywhere, in high speed, and easily. In such a world, people cannot expect to have available to us specific applications that allow them to accomplish every conceivable combination of information that they might wish. They are willing to have information they want at easy way, and fast way, compared to the world we had before, where we had to have a desktop, cable connection, limited application, and limited speed to achieve what they want. Instead, now people can believe that many of their interactions will be through highly generic tools that allow end-user discovery, configuration, interconnection, and control of the devices around them. Serendipity is an application of the architecture that will help people to solve a concern of achieving their information. The word 'serendipity', introduced to scientific fields in eighteenth century, is the meaning of making new discoveries by accidents and sagacity. By combining to the field of ubiquitous computing and smart phone, it will change the way of achieving the information. Serendipity may enable professional practitioners to function more effectively in the unpredictable, dynamic environment that informs the reality of information seeking. This paper designs the Serendipity Service based on NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. When users of NFC smart phone get information and services by touching the NFC tags, serendipity service will be core services which will give an unexpected but valuable finding. This paper proposes the architecture, scenario and the interface of serendipity service using tag touch data, serendipity cases, serendipity rule base and user profile.

A Hybrid Collaborative Filtering-based Product Recommender System using Search Keywords (검색 키워드를 활용한 하이브리드 협업필터링 기반 상품 추천 시스템)

  • A recommender system is a system that recommends products or services that best meet the preferences of each customer using statistical or machine learning techniques. Collaborative filtering (CF) is the most commonly used algorithm for implementing recommender systems. However, in most cases, it only uses purchase history or customer ratings, even though customers provide numerous other data that are available. E-commerce customers frequently use a search function to find the products in which they are interested among the vast array of products offered. Such search keyword data may be a very useful information source for modeling customer preferences. However, it is rarely used as a source of information for recommendation systems. In this paper, we propose a novel hybrid CF model based on the Doc2Vec algorithm using search keywords and purchase history data of online shopping mall customers. To validate the applicability of the proposed model, we empirically tested its performance using real-world online shopping mall data from Korea. As the number of recommended products increases, the recommendation performance of the proposed CF (or, hybrid CF based on the customer's search keywords) is improved. On the other hand, the performance of a conventional CF gradually decreased as the number of recommended products increased. As a result, we found that using search keyword data effectively represents customer preferences and might contribute to an improvement in conventional CF recommender systems.

A Study on the Characteristics and Periodical Changes of Meoreum - Focused on Byeoldang (Annexe) and Pavilion Architecture - (머름의 특성과 변천에 관한 연구 - 별당과 정자건축을 중심으로 -)

  • This study primarily aims to illuminate the characteristics of $Meoreum$ in Korean traditional fitting system according to the respective types and its periodical changes. Using the research findings as a chronological indicator by which to estimate the construction date of the building is the secondary purpose. In this study 42 of $Byeoldang$ and pavilion architecture remaining in $Yeongnam$ district were examined through the field surveys and methods of documentary research. The research results are as follows. First, $Meoreum$, which is located below the windows or doors, provides protection against the outer wind and has the function to prevent some warm air of the room from flowing outside. Second, $Meoreum$ was recorded as $Yoeum$(了音), $Woneum$(遠音), and $Maleum$(末音) in $Yeong-geon-ui-gwe$(營建儀軌) of Joseon period. While $Yoeum$(了音) was used in $Yeong-geon-ui-gwe$(營建儀軌) of 1776 and 1856, $Woneum$(遠音) had been also used continuously since the year of 1800. The word, $Maleum$(末音) can be seen in $Lim-won-gyeong-je-ji$(林園經濟志), published in 1827. $Woneum$(遠音) and $Maleum$(末音) seem to be the $Yi-du$(吏讀) types of expression of $Meoreum$ which is being extensively used now. Third, the kinds of $Meoreum$ can be classified as $TohMeoreum$, $TongMeoreum$, $TongpanMeoreum$, and $JjaneunMeoreum$. $TongMeoreum$ and $TohMeoreum$ were mostly used at the front part of $Ondol-rooms$, the backside of main floor called $Daechung$(大廳), and at the space between $Daechung$ and rooms in the Pavilions and $Byeoldangs$(Annexes) that had been built in the early Joseon dynasty. $TohMeoreum$ was usually used at the bottom parts of windows between $Daechung$ and $Ondol-rooms$. $TongpanMeoreum$ was mainly used in the mid-Joseon period and relatively high height was the distinctive feature of $Meoreum$ at that time. $Jjaneun$ $Meoreum$, used mainly in the late Joseon dynasty, has become lower and lower gradually in height since 19th century, so people could enter the room through the windows(fittings). Such changes in $Meoreums$ types has brought about the flow of human traffic directly from $Toenmaru$, narrow wooden porch running along the outside of a room to $Ondol-rooms$.

  • System response times(SRTs) are getting important while increasing the function of system. In the past, most research studied SRTs on situation of computer usage. There are lacking the research on simple domain. This study focuses on behavioral and emotional effect on situation of cell phone usage(experience 1; independent variables: degree of SRTs, dependent variables: behavioral and emotional evaluation). And this study investigates the behavioral and emotional effect in same SRTs on different situation(experience 2; independent variables: degree of SRTs, usage mode, dependent variables: behavioral and emotional evaluation, stress, mental strain). The result indicated that long SRTs increased problem solving time and negative emotion. User evaluated the system differently according to usage mode after they performed the same task. In other word, if user had a strong goal, then they felt more negative emotion and mental effort than the user don't have a strong goal. In the goal mode group, it was important there are being of delay or not. This study demonstrated that SRTs and usage mode influence user's emotion and behavior performance in same task.

An Analysis of Trends in Elementary Mathematics Education Research -Focussing on Mathematics Education Journals in Korea- (우리나라 초등수학교육 연구의 동향 분석 -국내 학술지를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate research trends of the articles in Math-Educational journals between 1998 and 2006 in a bid to discuss whether the articles evenly dealt with different fields and whether studies on elementary mathematics education were in line with the 7th national curricula. It's basically meant to determine some of the right directions for future research on elementary mathematics education. The articles included in Math-Educational journals during the selected period were analyzed to find out the theme, area, method and subjects of the studies and when the studies were conducted. After checking National Assembly Digital Library by inputting a keyword 'elementary mathematics', 235 articles were found, and a content analysis was carried out, and statistical data on percentage were obtained. The results of this study were as follows: First, there had been steady research efforts about elementary mathematics education, as 20 or 30 studies had been conducted on a yearly basis. Second, as for theme of research, the most common themes were instructional design and method(25.5%), and an analysis of curricula and textbook(15.3%) was the second most dominant theme. Third, regarding the area of study, the most widely investigated area was number and operation (30.0%), followed by character/expression(27.8%), figure (23.9%), regularity/function (8.9%), probability/statistics(5.6%), and measurement (3.9%). Fourth, concerning the method of research, didactical analysis(43.8%) was most prevalent, followed by quantitative research(29.8%), qualitative research(16.6%) and a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches(9.8%). Fifth, as to subjects, many of the studies(21.7%) investigated upper graders. In conclusion, it has to be accomplished the impartial researches for the whole area in order to develop elementary mathematics education and attain the objects of the 7th national curricula.

Fast Stream Cipher AA32 for Software Implementation (소프트웨어 구현에 적합한 고속 스트림 암호 AA32)

  • Stream cipher was worse than block cipher in terms of security, but faster in execution speed as an advantage. However, since so far there have been many algorithm researches about the execution speed of block cipher, these days, there is almost no difference between them in the execution speed of AES. Therefore an secure and fast stream cipher development is urgently needed. In this paper, we propose a 32bit output fast stream cipher, AA32, which is composed of ASR(Arithmetic Shifter Register) and simple logical operation. Proposed algorithm is a cipher algorithm which has been designed to be implemented by software easily. AA32 supports 128bit key and executes operations by word and byte unit. As Linear Feedback Sequencer, ASR 151bit is applied to AA32 and the reduction function is a very simple structure stream cipher, which consists of two major parts, using simple logical operations, instead of S-Box for a non-linear operation. The proposed stream cipher AA32 shows the result that it is faster than SSC2 and Salsa20 and satisfied with the security required for these days. Proposed cipher algorithm is a fast stream cipher algorithm which can be used in the field which requires wireless internet environment such as mobile phone system and real-time processing such as DRM(Digital Right Management) and limited computational environments such as WSN(Wireless Sensor Network).

A study on the name of the walls in YeonggeonUigwe Based on the gap wall of the Main Hall and Yeongnyeongjeon Hall of Jongmyo Shrine in the Joseon Dynasty (영건의궤로 살펴본 벽(壁)의 명칭에 관한 고찰 - 종묘 정전·영녕전의 갑벽(甲壁)을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the names and types of walls constructed in the late Joseon Dynasty in YeonggeonUigwe, a record of construction works of the Joseon Dynasty, and to examine the current status and name of walls constructed in the main hall and the Yeongnyeongjeon Hall of Jongmyo Shrine. The results of the study are as follows. First, the name of the wall can be divided into four types depending on the characteristics, including direction, location, shape, function, material, and complexity, and was used as a compound word in front of the wall. Second, some of the wall types related to the material were found to have differences in the timing of theypes of walls. Since the 18th century, the use of earthen walls has been reduced, and the use of wooden walls and paper walls are often used. Third, the walls of the Jongmyo Shrine were composed of a mud wall and a fireproof wall. A fireproof wall was installed in the main hall, including a pillar, while the Yeongnyeongjeon Hall was installed only between the pillar and the pillar. Fourth, the Gap Wall can be defined as the "wall constructed at the upper part of the chamber used in the construction of the building in Jongmyo." This study is meaningful in that it attempted to clarify the definition of a wall in the late Joseon Dynasty by examining the names and examples of walls used in the late Joseon Dynasty, focusing on walls that lacked research in familiarity.
