A long-term forecasting method for a new product in early stage of diffusion is proposed. The method includes a constrained non-linear least square estimation with the logistic diffusion model. The constraints would be critical market informations such as market potential, peak point, and take-off. Findings on 20 cases having almost full life cycle are that (i) combining any market information improves the forecasting accuracy, (ii) market potential is the most stable information, and (iii) peak point and take-off information have negative effect in case of overestimation.
This paper proposes a switching control method applicable to any affine, 2nd order nonlinear system with single input. The key contribution is to develop a control design method which uses a piecewise continuous Lyapunov function non-increasing at every discontinuous point. The proposed design method requires no restrictions except full state availability. To obtain a non-increasing, piecewise continuous Lyapunov function, we change the sign of off-diagonal term s of the positive definite matrix composing the former Lyapunov function according to the sign of the Inter-connection term. And we use the solution of inequalities which guarantee each Lyapunov function is non-increasing at any discontinuous point.

Trigeminal nerve injury as a consequence of lower third molar surgery is a notorious complication and may affect the patient in long term. Inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) and lingual nerve (LN) injury result in different degree of neurosensory deficit and also other neurological symptoms. The long term effects may include persistent sensory loss, chronic pain and depression. It is crucial to understand the pathophysiology of the nerve injury from lower third molar surgery. Surgery remains the most promising treatment in moderate-to-severe nerve injuries. There are limitations in the current treatment methods and full recovery is not commonly achievable. It is better to prevent nerve injury than to treat with unpredictable results. Coronectomy has been proved to be effective in reducing IAN injury and carries minimal long-term morbidity. New technologies, like the roles of erythropoietin and stem cell therapy, are being investigated for neuroprotection and neural regeneration. Breakthroughs in basic and translational research are required to improve the clinical outcomes of the current treatment modalities of third molar surgery-related nerve injury.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compared the growth and development of premature and full-term infants during the 2 years after birth. Method: The participants were 102 infants, 51 each for premature infants, and for healthy full-term infants. Participants in the premature group accounted for 17.5% of all premature infants who were registered at the public health center in G city. Developmental status was evaluated using the Korean Denver II. Results: The catch-up growth of the premature was 100% in weight and in height. Suspicious developmental delay according to the Korean Denver II was 3.9% in normal infants and 31.2% in premature infants. Factors related to the suspicious developmental delay in premature infants were their age and health state at birth. The rate of suspicious developmental delay was higher in infants over 6 months and infants unhealthy at birth. Conclusion: A premature follow-up program, which includes nutrition education to achieve catch-up growth and to prevention obesity, along with continuous developmental screening test for infants and children born prematurely is recommended. Provision for home visits and telephone counseling for premature infants and their families who do not to use the public health center should also be included.
Purpose: Glucose has been recommended as an analgesic for mild to moderately painful procedures in neonates. The goal of this study was to assess the optimal dextrose concentration for pain control in newborns. Methods: This prospective, randomized, blinded clinical trial included 116 healthy full-term newborns. The neonates were randomly assigned to the following four groups by drawing straws: groups receiving sterile water or a 10%, 20%, or 40% dextrose solution orally. Each group was treated with the assigned solution prior to hepatitis B vaccination. The Neonatal Facial Coding System (NFCS) and the Neonatal Infant Pain Scale (NIPS) scores were evaluated before, immediately after, and 2 minutes after the injection in all neonates. Premature Infant Pain Profile (PIPP) scores were evaluated during the injection. All procedures were video-recorded, and pain scores were assessed by two independent observers who were not involved in the care of the newborns studied. The pain scores were compared among the four groups. Results: The 40% dextrose solution significantly reduced the NFCS (P=0.002) and the PIPP scores (P=0.001) compared with sterile water. No hyperglycemic events were noted in the study subjects 2 hours after the injection. Conclusion: The 40% dextrose solution effectively relieved pain due to intramuscular injection in full-term newborns without causing hyperglycemic events. However, the 10% and 20% dextrose solutions did not affect neonatal pain scores.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify patterns and trends of studies, analyze the research, and improve direction of nursing research related to the neonatal pain relief intervention in Korea. Method: The studies were selected from dissertation, nursing journals and others in Korea. Result: Until 1995, there were no studies related to the neonatal pain relief intervention. The most studies have been increased rapidly after 2005. Pure of true experimental design of research design was used 5, Quasi experimental design was 7, preexperimental design was 7. Participants were preterm baby was 8, full-term baby was 9, and preterm and full-term baby was 2. Utilization of instruments as follows: NIPS, PIPP, ABSS, NFCS, pulse oximeter, EKG monitoring, and stethoscope. Contents of the research studies were classified 4 different types, such as studies of about the effect of auditory stimulation, taste stimulation, tactile stimulation, and topical anesthetic cream. The results of 25 studies were effective for the neonatal pain relief, but the results of 5 studies weren't. Conclusion: In the future studies need to develop the various instrument which is assessment of neonatal pain. It is important to the integrated by meta analysis. Additionally, we should develop protocol nursing intervention for the effective pain release.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effectiveness of sensory stimulation program administered by primipara on the physical growth and mother-infant feeding interaction for the first 6 months of infancy. Method: Data were collected from December 1, 2001 to June 30, 2003. A total of 35 mothers and their infants were assigned to a control(n=17) and an experimental(n=18) group. Mothers in the experimental group received education related to sensory stimulation program and administered to their infants twice a day for 6 months. Both groups were measured the weight, length, head circumference and chest circumference of infants at 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 14 weeks, 18 weeks, and 22 weeks and the mother-infant feeding interaction at 6 weeks, 10 weeks through the home visiting. Result: Compared to the control group, the experimental group had significantly larger increases in head circumference for intervention period. In addition to, the experimental group showed significantly higher score in mother-infant interaction than control group. Conclusion: These data suggested that sensory stimulation program administered by primipara may improve the physical growth of full term infant and mother-infant feeding interaction.
In this study, I investigated on the ultrastructure of scalp skin from full term baby mummy by using transmission and scanning electron microscopy. The baby mummy was found within the uterus of a 16th century (Joseon Dynasty) mummified woman aged 20${\sim}$30 years old. In scanning electron microscopic study, I found that the outer surface of scalp skin containing of sweat gland and stratum corneum are well preserved. The skin of the scalp measured about 1 mm in thickness and the epidermis was well distinguished from the dermis. In transmission electron microscopy, the shape and structure of the epithelial cells were not confirmed. I also observed well preserved collagen fibers composed of collagen fibrils with cross banding pattern ultrastructurally. But, the other connective cells were not observed due to decomposition of the dermis.
