  • Hydraulic performance of the pump with an inducer was predicted by 3-D Navier-stokes calculation. The evaluated pump was the single-stage centrifugal pump with a separated inducer to pressurize fuel (LCH4) in Turbo-pump system with a specific speed (Ns) of approximately 0.3[rad/s, m3/s, J/kg] and a suction specific speed(s) of 15[rad/s, m3/s, J/kg]. That conventional pump was designed with the combination of 1-D theory and empirical correlation. In this study, preliminary design to select key parameters such as inlet flow coefficient was reviewed by investigating sets of the known design methods to achieve appropriate suction performance, and the performance of newly designed inducer and impeller was compared with the old one, using CFD method. The numerical results showed that the hydraulic efficiency of the new pump was predicted $5.5\%$ higher than that of the conventional one, through design parameter re-selection, configuration improvement and blade loading control

  • P사의 실린더 당 210 kW 급 중속디젤엔진의 연료분사펌프를 대상으로 연료 송출 압력파에 대해서 Ansys Fluent R15.0을 사용하여 수치 해석하였다. 연료 송출 압력파의 실험 결과와 수치 해석 결과가 유사하게 나타났으며, 전산유체역학을 이용한 연료분사펌프의 연료 송출 압력파에 대한 수치 해석의 신뢰성을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문은 냉간단조 연료펌프와 다이캐스팅의 연료펌프에 대해 성능 실험과 아세트산이 포함된 에탄올에 250시간 연료펌프를 구동하여 부식성에 대해 실험을 수행하였다. 성능실험을 수행한 결과, 냉간단조된 하부하우징과 다이캐스팅된 하부하우징으로 제작된 연료펌프의 성능은 동등한 수준이었다. 내부식성은 다이캐스팅된 하부하우징보다 냉간단조된 하부하우징이 더 우수하였으며, 냉간단조된 하부하우징이 다이캐스팅된 하부하우징보다 치밀한 조직을 가지고 있었다.

  • In this paper, a study on the noise reduction in a mobile fuel cell system is presented. Among various fuel cell systems around 20W capacities designed for mobile electronic devices, the active direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) systems have been recently developed. In such systems, the primary noise source is the air pump which provides sufficient air flow ($5{\sim}6$ liter/min) for electrochemical reaction with methanol fuel while the noise contributions from other auxiliary parts are relatively small. Especially, the discrete noise tones generated by the air pump are dominant and those frequency peaks related to the rotor harmonics are needed to be suppressed by a silencer. Therefore. the Herschel/Quinke (HQ) tubes, which use the out-of-phase cancellation of acoustic waves propagating through direct and indirect pathways, are applied to the inlet of the air pump. Performance of noise reduction with HQ silencer is analytically estimated by calculating the transmission. The length and number of thin HQ tubes are optimized to decrease the radiated noise. As a result, the sound pressure level could be successfully reduced by about 10 dB after applying three serially connected HQ tubes.

  • Hydraulic performance and cavitation characteristics of fuel pump in turbo-pump were studied experimentally. The fuel pump has a centrifugal impeller with a separate inducer. In this paper, flow characteristics of inducer and impeller was experimentally investigated separately and together. Especially static pressure distribution of Inducer was examined in non-cavitation and cavitation conditions.

소형엔진용 가솔린 연료펌프의 회전수 측정 조건에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Rotational Speed Measuring Condition of a Gasoline Fuel Pump for a Small-Size Engine)

  • 펌프의 성능을 개선하기 위해서는 펌프의 회전수 정보를 획득할 필요성이 있으나, 일반적으로 연료펌프는 연료탱크 안에 내장되어 그 회전수를 측정하기에 어려움이 있다. 연료 펌프의 회전수는 크게 가속도 센서를 이용하는 방법과 전류센서를 이용하는 두 가지 방법이 있다. 가속도 센서를 이용하는 방법은 연료 펌프의 진동수를 측정하여 회전수로 계산하는 방법이며, 전류 센서를 이용하는 방법은 펌프모터의 주기적 전압방출 특성을 이용하여 회전수를 계산하는 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 전류센서를 가속도 센서와 동시에 장착하여 다양한 측정 조건에 대한 실험을 수행하였다. 결론적으로 전류센서로도 연료펌프의 회전수를 정밀하게 측정하는 것이 가능하였으며 특히 낮은 회전수 영역에서는 가속도센서 대비 강건한 계측특성을 보였다. 오차 1% 이내의 회전수를 측정하기위하여, 가속도센서는 데이터 저장간격 0.5Hz 이하의 설정이 필요하였으며, 전류센서는 데이터 저장간격 2.0Hz이하의 설정이 필요하였다.

고무류 반응특성이 LPG액상공급시스템의 연료분사기 성능에 미치는 영향 (Reaction Characteristics of Rubbers and LPG fuels in LPLi Fuel Supply System)

  • The liquid phase LPG injection (LPLi) system (the third generation technology) has been considered as one of the next generation fuel supply systems for LPG vehicles, since it has a very strong potential to accomplish the higher power, higher efficiency, and lower emission characteristics than the mixer type (the second generation technology) fuel supply system. To investigate the characteristics of LPG residue in liquid phase LPG injection system, various rubbers in LPG fuel system were reacted with LPG fuels during 3 months. The experimental results showed that the residue of a cover rubber in a fuel pump after test increased 10 times higher than that before test. Furthermore, the amount of sulfur, nitrogen species which are considered as main sources in deposit formation in the LPLi fuel injector were also found to be higher than that in original LPG fuel. And rubber properties of fuel pump cover were decreased after reaction test compared with those of the original rubber. Therefore, the rubber for fuel pump cover is not suitable for a proper material in LPLi fuel system. And these results can provide more information if a motor company shares the data of core rubber parts in field test LPLi vehicles.

열펌프를 이용한 온돌 난방 시스템 - 열펌프와 석유보일러의 소요에너지 비교 - (Ondol Heating System Using Heat Pump - Comparison of Energy Consumption between the Heat Pump and the Oil Boiler -)

  • In these days, we are faced to a couple of difficult problems, the one is the unstable price of the energy due to the shortage of fossil fuel resources and the other is the serious environmental pollution from the excessive consumption of fossil fuel. In order to save the thermal energy for the house heating, in this study the heat pump using the natural thermal energy resources was provided for Ondol heating and the thermal energy consumption of the heat was compared to that of oil boiler. The results could be summarized as follows: 1. In the Ondol room the temperature difference between the Ondol surface and room air was about 5∼$10^{\circ}C$ in accordance with the ambient temperature. 2. The Ondol room heating efficiency of the heat pump with compressor of 2PS was the highest at the water flow rate of 200 l/h. 3. The energy saving rate of the heat pump to the oil boiler for heating the Ondol system was 19.3%. 4. The Ondol heating cost of the heat pump was less 20.6% than that of oil boiler when oil price was 478 won/l.

고온.고압용기 내에서 핀틀노즐의 분무특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Che Spray Characteristic of Pintle Type Nozzle in a High Temperature and High Pressure Chamber)

  • The characteristics of fuel spray have an important effect on engine performance such as power, specific fuel consumption and emission because fuel spray controls the mixing and combustion process in an engine. Therefore, if the characteristics of fuel spray can be measured, they can be effectively used for improving engine performance. The major factors controlling fuel spray are injection pressure, ambient pressure and engine speed. In this study, the experiment is performed in a high temperature and high pressure chamber. In experiments, spray tip penetration, spray angle and spray tip velocity are measured at various injection pressure (10 and 14 MPa), ambient pressure(3,4 and 5 MPa), fuel pump speed(500, 700 and 900 rpm). Experimental results are useful for deriving an experimental spray equation and design an optimal engine. The results showed that injection pressure, ambient pressure and fuel pump speed are important factors influencing on the characteristics of spray. 1) Injection pressure influences on the characteristics of spray. That is, as injection pressure is increased, spray angle is decreased but spray penetration and spray tip velocity is increased. 2) Spray angle and spray penetration are increased as fuel pump speed is increased.

75톤급 로켓엔진용 연료펌프의 축추력 측정 (Axial Thrust Measurement of Fuel Pump for 75-ton Class Rocket Engine)

  • 축추력의 효과적인 제어는 터보펌프의 작동 안정성을 확보하는 데 중요한 기술 중 하나이다. 현재 개발 중인 75톤급 로켓엔진용 연료펌프에 대한 축추력 측정을 상온의 물을 매질로 하여 실시하였다. 시험 결과, 연료펌프의 축추력은 펌프 베어링의 축방향 하중 조건을 만족하는 것으로 예상되었다. 또한 연료펌프의 축추력은 대체로 유량이 작을수록 커졌다. 그리고 플로팅 링 실과 임펠러 사이의 간극이 바뀌었을 때, 연료펌프의 축방향 하중과 후방 누설 유량이 변화하는 것을 확인하였다.
