Embossing treated fruit bagging paper was prepared with newly designed embossing roll and mechanical properties of fruit bagging paper were evaluated. The embossing technology was developed. First of all, embossing roll was designed in Ginyong Embo(Co) for the embossing process of fruiting bag. The embossing treated fruit bagging paper was manufactured in Agro(Co) at plant scale. The mechanical properties of embossing paper was investigated and operation efficiency of bagging was tested at field. The properties of embossed paper was quit satisfied for fruiting bag for cultivation of apple and pears.
Fruit bagging has been widely practiced in peach cultivation to produce high quality and unblemished fruit. Moreover, fruit bagging has been utilized to study the effect of shading on the quality of fruit. We conducted a proteomic analysis on peach fruit to elucidate the biochemical and physiological events that characterize the effect of bagging treatment. Comparative analysis of 2D electrophoresis (2-DE) gels showed that relative protein levels differed significantly at 125 DAFB (days after full bloom), as well as at 133 DAFB in fruit that had been bagged until 125 DAFB, followed by exposure to sunlight. Most of the proteins with altered expression were identified by MALDI TOF/TOF. Twenty-one proteins with differential expression among the groups were identified at 125 DAFB, while thirty proteins with differential expression among the groups were identified at 133 DAFB. The analysis revealed that expression of proteins involved in photosynthesis, stress responses, and biochemical processes influencing metabolism were altered during bagging treatment, suggesting that regulation of the synthesis of carbohydrates, amino acids, and proteins influenced fruit size, solid/acid ratio, and peel color. This work provides the first characterization of proteomic changes in peach in response to fruit bagging treatment. Identifying and tracking protein changes may allow us to better understand the mechanisms underlying the effects of bagging treatment.

In this study, two biodegradable polymer(PLA, PBS) emulsions were treated on agricultural packaging paper such as fruit bagging paper. Water-repellency, mechanical properties, and SEM image with thermal aging were measured on the emulsion treated fruit bagging paper. Biodegradable polymers(such as poly lactic acid, poly butylene succinate) emulsion treated fruit bagging paper had higher water-repellency and strength than other water-repellent(such as acrylic repellent, linseed oil and paraffin wax) treated fruit bagging paper. According to FE-SEM results of polymer emulsion coated fruit bagging paper, the colloidal particles of emulsion after thermal treatment (looks like being) were adhered to the fibers. Thus, using biodegradable polymer emulsion is expected to protect a fruit for a long time.

Fruit bagging paper is used for protecting of fruits from insect and/or microorganisms. Generally, fruit bagging paper controled light, temperature and humidity and then it is used for good fruit color, size and taste. The physical properties of conventional(domestic and abroad) fruiting bag and wrapping paper were analyzed and compared to each other. And also, the optical properties of conventional(domestic and abroad) fruiting bag and wrapping paper were analyzed and compared to each other. The chemical additives and residual herbicide in conventional fruiting bag and wrapping paper were analyzed and compared to each other. The analyzed data was bench marked for developing water repelling paper and embossing paper.
This study was conducted to compare the effect of bagging technique on the presence of pesticide residues in various parts of grape fruit (whole fruit, pulp and peel). The tested pesticides were diluted at 2,000 times and sprayed three times onto the crops at an interval of seven days and then they were collected at 0, 1, 3, 5 and 7 days after final application. Later, bagging/non-bagging samples were pre-treated with fruit, pulp and peel samples, respectively. Thiacloprid and lufenuron were not detected in any of the bagging samples. The thiacloprid residues of non-bagging samples in whole, peel and pulp samples were 0.47-1.09, 0.18-0.33 and 1.24-1.67 mg/kg, respectively. The lufenuron residues of non-bagging samples in whole fruit, peel and pulp samples were 0.16-0.62, < LOD-0.08 and 0.85-1.48 mg/kg, respectively. The biological half-lives of thiacloprid and lufenuron in whole fruit, peel and pulp of non-bagging samples were 5.7, 15.1 and 7.8 days and 4.0, 9.4 and 2.6 days, respectively. While the unbagged samples showed a sequential decrease in pesticide residues, this study concludes that bagging would be an effective method to protect the presence of thiacloprid and lufenuron residues in grape fruits.
BACKGROUND: Caused by cultural environment, the fruit skin stain results in serious damages to pear fruit. Particularly susceptible to this damage, 'Niitaka' pear accounts for 82% of pear cultivation in Korea and many farmers growing the pear trees have suffered economic losses due to fruit skin stain. This study investigated the effect of different treatments of 'Niitaka' pear during growing period on the occurrence of fruit skin stain. METHODS AND RESULTS: The treatments in the field included gibberellin (GA) paste, spraying with amino acid tree fertilizer, functional bagging, and coating of the inner paper bag with agents. The relationships between tree vigor, mineral nutrition concentration and fruit skin stain occurrence were also investigated. The fruit skin stain symptoms occurred from young fruit (May 25) until harvest. There was no exposed fruit flesh. The occurrence of fruit skin stain was significantly reduced in normal tree (shoot length 110 cm), as well as using GA paste treatment, and bagging in calcium and lime sulfur coated bags. However, spraying with amino acid tree fertilizer made no difference in comparison to control. In addition, bags in which the inner paper was coated with lime sulfur and soybean oil resulted in chemical injury to the fruit skin caused by bagging. The K concentration of shoot wood and fruit skin were higher than those of the control. Also, there were lower T-N, K concentration of leaf. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that occurrence of fruit skin stain in 'Niitaka' pear fruits during the growing period can be reduced by GA paste and bagging in calcium and lime sulfur coated bags. The symptoms of chemical injury to the fruit skin caused by bagging in lime sulfur and soybean oil coated inner paper were different compared to skin stain occurring in fruit during the growing period.
The effects of fruit bagging time, bag kinds, and plant oil treatment on fruit cracking, pathogenic decay, and quality in grapevines were studied. The occurrence of cracking fruit was not affect by bag kinds in 'Campbell Early'. But, bitter rot occurrence in 'Campbell Early' and occurrence of cracking fruit and bitter rot in 'Wase Campbell Early' decreased effectively compared the ones of conventional bag, window bag, calcium coated bag to non-bagging. The cracking fruit occurrence of and 'Kyoho' decreased significantly by bagging to each before July 5 of 'Campbell Early' and before June 29 and July 5 of 'Kyoho' grapevines. The cracking fruit and bitter rot occurrence by plant oil treatment decreased significantly in 'Wase Campbell Early', and increased calcium of fruit skin in 'Campbell Early'. The soluble solids in fruits were much reduced by window bag and the Hunter b value in fruit skin was reduced by calcium coated bag. Accordingly, treatment of Ca-coated bag and plant oil was become judgment to reduction effect of cracking fruit.

This study was carried out to understand the physiological characteristics of 'Manpungbae' (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai) pears through the seasonal changes of pericarp structure and anatomical differences between bagging and non-bagging treatment, and also fruit quality and peel coloration characteristics at the harvest time. The pericarp at full bloom was consists of outer epidermis, hypodermis, parenchyma cell, and inner epidermis from the exterior. The cell layers from the outer epidermis to vascular bundle increased rapidly 7-10 layers to 18-26 layers from full bloom (FB) to 77 days after full bloom (DAFB) and did not change significantly until maturity. Thus, the cell division period of 'Manpungbae' pear was until 77 DAFB and during this period, the thickness from hypodermis to vascular bundle increased from $73.1{\mu}m$ to $195{\mu}m$ in this period. Stone cells were formed from seven to 21 DAFB and stone cell clusters were formed around 49 DAFB. The cork cell layer was formed between 49 and 77 DAFB. 'Manpungbae' fruit pericarp was consists of 4.5 layers of the cork cell layers and seven layers of hypodermis which has the tannin at harvest time (161 DAFB). Comparison of the fruit enlargement and fruit structure development by bagging or non-bagging showed that 'Manpungbae' fruits without bagging had more than three cork cell layer than those with bagging at maturity. The size of stone cell clusters were varied in two treatments. Fruit weight was higher in the non-bagging treatment but there was no difference in soluble solid contents (SSC) between two treatments. The weight of the 'Manpunbae' fruit was distributed from 301 g to more 900 g and the average fruit weight was 677.2 g at harvest time, and fruits in the range of 551-800 g accounted for 71.6% of total production. The SSC, acidity and SSC/acidity ratio was $10.2-12.1^{\circ}Brix$, 0.10-1.24% and 9.76-14.31 respectively, and the SSC was higher in bigger fruit which had a very higher positive correlation with a fruit weight. However, the fruit firmness tended to be lower with fruit size which had a very higher negative correlation with the fruit weight and SSC. The cork cell layer numbers between yellowish brown and green pericarp were not different significantly, in 3.8 and 3.5 respectively.
We tested fruits quality and skin coloration of two pear cultivar 'Wonhwang' and 'Whasan' produced by bagging with different kinds of paper bags in the Cheonan area, Chungnam Province, Korea. The fruits were bagged at 35, 45, 55 or 65 days after full bloom (DAFB) with 3 kinds of double layer paper bag which consisted of grey color, yellow color and newspaper for outer layer. The great extent of light interruption was observed in grey colored outer paperbag among three kinds of paperbag which showed only 0.46% of lowest light transmittance when compared with 43.7% and 40.0% of yellow paper and newspaper, respectively. The development of skin redness ($a^*$) increased with the delay of bagging time in two pear cultivars. But the fruits treated at 65 DAFB showed uneven coloration and excessive development of redness which represented low fruit external appearance value. Uniform flesh firmness was attained at the fruits bagged with grey outer color paperbag regardless of bagging time, although the fruit quality indices including soluble solids and titratable acidity did not change significantly by using different kind of fruit bags and bagging time in two pear cultivar. Based on our results, it was explained that the grey-colored fruit bag had positive effect on the development of skin coloration without any detrimental effect on fruit quality factors in 'Wonhwang' and 'Whasan' pears.
