Cornis fructus have various biological effects and major chemical components have been tannins, saponins, ursolic acids, gallic acids, linoleic acids, morronisides, cornins and loganins. The main aim of the present study is measurment the effect of chloroform extract from Cornis fructus on proliferation inhibition and Cell death. Cells were cultured in the presence of chloroform extracts from Cornis fructus for 48 h. after 48h treatment of B16/F10 melanoma cells with chloroform extracts, the cells were observed a dose-dependent inhibitions of cell viability with cell death in their proliferation. the cells were estimated cell viability, cell number, total DNA fragmentation and chromatin condensation in a dose-dependent manner. It also caused cell death as measured by cell morphology, DNA fragmentation and nucleus chromatin condensation. therefore, these results suggest that chloroform extracts from C. fructus is inhibitory proliferation and is related to cell death in this cells.

Background : Diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by deficiency of insulin. It has been reported that Fructus aurantii and mulberry leaves have the effect of anti-diabetes. Methods : To investigate the improvement of mixed extracts of Fructus aurantii and mulberry leaves on lipid metabolism, we performed double-blinded, randomized and placebo-controlled multi-center clinical trial. Results : Mixed extracts of Fructus aurantii and mulberry leaves significantly reduced total cholesterol. Conclusion : These results suggest that mixed extracts of Fructus aurantii and mulberry leaves improve lipid metabolism.

Mume Fructus extract is used in folk medicine in Eastern Asian countries including Korea. However, its therapeutic effect on thrombosis is not known. Mume Fructus methanol extract (ME) dose-dependently inhibited ADP-induced platelet aggregation and also exhibited about 130% fibrinolytic activity compared to the natto. Oral administration of ME to mice significantly extended tail-bleeding time. ME prolonged both aPTT and PT in human citrated plasma also. These results suggest that the methanol extract from Mume Fructus have antithrombosis activity.

Objectives In recent years, we are concerned about anti-aging and longevity. And I heard that Mori Fructus has been used for promotion of health in local clinics. So I wanted to know immuno-ability of Mori Fructus and carried out this experiment. Methods We cultivated 3T3-L1 Preadipocytes and Protein chip used for $ProteoPlex^{TM}$ 16-Well Murine Cytokine Array Kit. Results We known the immunity of Mori Fructus about 3T3-L1 Preadipocytes and gained the increase of Cytokines(IL-2, IL-4, IL-12p70, GM-CSF, INF-${\gamma}$, TNF-${\alpha}$). Conclusions So I guess that Mori Fructus has effect of immuno-ability, etc.

Objectives : This in vitro research was conducted to investigate the effect of the Ginseng Radix plus Crataegi Fructus. on the cytokine protein release and Nitric oxide release in releted to Alzheimer's disease. Methods : Specifically, the effects of the Ginseng Radix plus Crataegi Fructus extract on $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6, $TNF-{\alpha}$ of BV2 microglia cell line treated with lipopolysacchride. Results: The Ginseng Radix plus Crataegi Fructus extract suppressed the production of inflammatory cytokine protein $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6, $TNF-{\alpha}$ and in BV2 microglia cell line treated with lipopolysacchride. Conclusion: These results suggest that the Ginseng Radix plus Crataegi Fructus extract may be effective for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Investigation into the clinical use of the Gin-CHF extract for Alzheimer's disease is suggested for future research.

This is a clinical report of one patient with mental disorientation, abnormal behavior, spasm, and other symptoms caused by poisoning with Xanthii Fructus, who recovered completely with treatment. The patient was treated with Korean medical treatments, such as herbal medicine and acupuncture. After treatment, various symptoms caused by the Xanthii Fructus poisoning disappeared completely and laboratory findings, such as liver function tests (aspartate transaminase and alanine transaminase), were also close to the normal ranges. This case shows that Korean medicine therapy can be applicable in treating various symptoms caused by Xanthii Fructus poisoning. It is considered that further research is needed to confirm the safe use of Xanthii Fructus.

Objectives : This study was carried out for the development of medicine for vitiligo treatment and focused on the effect of Psoraleae fructus extract on melanin synthesis of B16 melanoma cells. Methods : Activity of tyrosinase playing a vital role in the synthesis and quantity of melanin, which is the final product in cultured B16 melanoma cells, the effects of Psoraleae fructus extract were measured. Results : The results indicated that Psoraleae fructus extract increased beth the amount of melanin and the activity of tyrosinase according to concentration, also supported by western blot analysis. Conclusions : The results suggest that Psoraleae fructus extract has an advantageous effect on the promotion of melanin synthesis and will contribute to the development of vitiligo treatment through further related studies.

This study was done to know the effect of Giyuetang on the inflammatory response, contact hypersensitivity (CH), and rosette forming capacity of spleen cells. The effects of Jiyutang with Fructus Immaturus Ponciri on the inflammatory response were evaluated by measuring the production of such reactive oxygen intermediate(ROI) as $O_2^-$ and $H_{2}O_2$ in the peritoneal neutrophils and macrophages. The effects of Jiyutang with Fructus Immaturus Ponciri on the CH were evaluated by checking the ear swelling response against dinitrofluorobenzene(DNFB). The administration of Jiyutang with Fructus Immaturus Ponciri on the mouse decreased the amount of ROI in both neutrophils and macrophages. Jiyutang with Fructus Immaturus Ponciri depressed CH without affecting the rosette forming capacity of spleen cells. The results of this study showed that Jiyutang with Fructus Immaturus Ponciri might have anti-inflammatory effects by decreasing the amounts of ROI in the phagocytes and suppressing the CH, without affecting the rosette-forming capacity of spleen cells.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Crataegii Fructus on the diet-induced hyperlipidemia in rats. Rats were divided into 4 groups, normal group(supplied enough water and feeds only), high fat diet administered group(supplied high fat diet for 4 weeks, Control group) and Crataegii Fructus administered group(supplied high fat diet and Crataegii Fructus lyophilization extract for 4 weeks, 397.3 mg/kg(rat) in sample A, 662.5 mg/kg(rat) in sample B). Body weight, liver weight and serum lipid levels were evaluated. The water extract of Crataegii Fructus decreased liver weight and triglyceride in high fat diet induced hyperlipidemia in rats, and increased HDL-cholesterol.

The aim of this experiments was to investigate the effect of Lycii Fructus water extracts on the blood pressure, plasma renin activity and plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide in two-kidney one clip Goldblatt hypertensive rats. Systolic blood pressure was decreased significantly after administration of Lycii Fructus water extracts. Plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide was increased significantly after adminstration of Lycii Fructus water extracts. Plasma renin activity was not changed after adminstration of Lycii Fructus water extracts. Thease results suggested that the depressor response after adminstration of Lycii Fructus water extracts were related with the changes of the plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide.
