GA 강판의 합금화 온도가 도금층 형성 및 마찰 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Different Annealing Temperatures on Friction Characteristic and Formation of Coatings in Galvannealed sheet steels)

  • This paper is designed to estimate friction and powdering characteristic of coating layer on galvannealed sheet steel with different annealing temperature, which is 465, 505, 515 and $540^{\circ}C$. Estimations of powdering and friction were done using a $60^{\circ}$ bending test and one side friction test, respectively. In order to obviously understand the effect of coatings on friction cross-section of coatings before and after friction test was also observed by SEM. The results show that powdering of coatings is increased with increasing of annealing temperature and that friction characteristic greatly depends on powdering which leads to increase of real contact area between tools and coatings.

  • Friction stir welding(FSW) was developed as a new solid state welding technique by The Welding Institute (TWI). On the basis of FSW, a new processing technique, friction stir processing (FSP), has recently been developed. FSP has been applied to cast aluminum alloy to modify the microstructure to enhance mechanical characteristic. FSP is a new solid state processing technique for microstructural modification in metallic materials. FSP has been applied to aluminum alloy to modify the microstructure to enhance mechanical characteristic. In this study, we investigated optimum condition friction stir processing with the evaluation of mechanical characteristic for 5456-H116 Al alloy. The mechanical characteristics of base metal similar with in 15 mm/min, 250 RPM with full screw probe. This condition is concluded that optimum friction stir processing condition. The result of this investigation will be able to application for repair of welding part for aluminum ship.

제동디스크 소재의 마찰-마모특성 시험 (A test for friction and wear characteristic of brake disk materials)

  • In the braking of a railroad car, mechanical brake systems using wheel tread and brake disk are applied as well as electrical brake systems by regenerator and rheostat. It is very important to consider the frictional characteristic because kinetic energy of the vehicle is dissipated as converted thermal energy through friction between disk and brake pad during disk braking. A friction coefficient and wear characteristic are decided from the interrelationship of disk and friction material in the disk brake system. Lab-scale dynamometer test on developed brake disk materials for increasing heat resistance was performed in this study. Each candidate material was tested at various braking speeds and pressures and we obtained the friction coefficient and wear characteristic. And we executed comparative evaluation of the result from the test.

  • The parking brake embedded in track driving motor for driving an excavator is composed of wet type multi-friction discs. This type parking brake can be designed more compact because the combination of some sheets of friction discs generate great braking power, and also it has good braking characteristic and long life time because it works in the oil. In this study, we analyzed torque characteristic of the parking brake through simulations and performed experiments by use of 3-kinds of paper friction sheet manufactured by different pressing methods. And, we compared the maximum static friction coefficient and torque characteristic with the simulation results and confirmed the optimal manufacturing process through this result.

친환경 법규 대응을 위한 복합재 브레이크의 Cu Free 마찰재 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Cu Free Friction Material of Composite Brake to Response Eco-friendly Regulation)

  • Composite material is widely used in the automotive industries because it has excellent mechanical properties and is possible to reduce weight due to the low density. However, there is a new obstacle to meet environment regulation like Cu less or Cu free regulation for the friction material. Although it is strongly demanded, there are few research results about that unfortunately. Unless this problem is not solved properly, it is impossible to apply composite brake system to vehicle. In this paper, a new eco-friendly friction material for composite brake system is represented to respond these regulations. To do this, friction characteristics between existing low steel friction material and new eco-friendly friction material are verified to secure performances for brake system such as effect characteristic, fade characteristic and wear characteristic. And composite brake gets the equivalent or better performance compared to a low steel friction material. Finally, this result contributes to the study of major principles for the development of eco-friendly friction material in the future.

  • Test results of friction-factor for the flow of air in a narrow channel lined with various honeycomb geometries show that, generally, the friction-factor is nearly constant or slightly decreases as the Reynolds number(or Mach number) increases, a characteristic common to turbulent flow in pipes. However, in some test geometries this trend is remarkably different. The friction factor dramatically drops and then rises as the Mach number increases. This phenomenon can be characterized as a "friction-factor jump." Further investigations of the acoustic spectrum indicate that the "friction-factor jump" phenomenon is accompanied by an onset of a normal mode resonance excited coherent flow fluctuation structure, which occurs at Reynolds number of the order of $10^4$. New empirical friction-factor model for "friction-factor jump" cases is developed as a function of Mach number and local pressure.ach number and local pressure.

  • 본 논문에서는 유압 비례 제어 밸브로 구동되는 유압모터 부하계에 존재하는 정지마찰토크와 점성마찰토크를 해석하였다. 이에 기초 실험으로 유압시스템의 에너지인 압력과 유량에 대한 특성실험을 수행하였고, 공압브레이크 시스템을 이용하여 브레이크 압력의 변화를 인가하여 마찰토크의 변화를 실험하였다. 비선형마찰과 선형마찰에 대한 해석은 유압 시스템의 마찰특성에 대하여 수행하였다.

  • This paper introduces an eigenvalue method of transforming the hyperbolic partial differential equations of a particular unsteady friction water hammer model into characteristic form. This method is based on the solution of the corresponding one-dimensional Riemann problem that transforms hyperbolic quasi-linear equations into ordinary differential equations along the characteristic directions, which in this case arises as the eigenvalues of the system. A mathematical justification and generalization of the eigenvalues method is provided and this approach is compared to the traditional characteristic method.

자기장 영향에 따른 자기유변탄성체의 구름 마찰 특성 연구 (A Study on Rolling Friction Characteristics of Magneto-Rheological Elastomer under Magnetic Fields)

  • Magneto-rheological elastomer (MR elastomer) is a smart material, because it has mechanical properties that change under a magnetic field. An MR elastomer changes its stiffness characteristics when the inner particles (iron particles) align along the direction of a magnetic field. There has been much research to make use of this characteristic to control vibration issues in various mechanical systems, such as for mounting systems in the automotive field, home appliances, etc. Furthermore, the friction and wear properties of MR elastomer have been studied, as these relate to the durability of the material needed to meet engineering requirements. Rolling friction (or rolling resistance) is one of these friction properties, but has not yet been studied in the context of MR elastomers. In this study, an MR elastomer is fabricated in the shape of a hollow cylinder to evaluate the rolling friction characteristic under a magnetic field. The test apparatus is setup and a strain gauge is used to calculate the rolling resistance under test conditions. Permanent magnets are used to supply the magnetic field during tests. The load and rolling speed conditions are also considered for the tests. The test results show that rolling friction characteristic has a different trend under different magnetic field, load, and rolling speed conditions. It is assumed that the stiffness change of an MR elastomer under a magnetic field has an effect on the rolling friction characteristic of the MR elastomer. For the future work, the rolling friction characteristics of MR elastomers will be controlled by adjusting the strength of the magnetic field using electromagnets.
