In this paper, V(z) curve has been analyzed theoretically and compared with the experimental result, and the relation between the V(z) curve and the material characteristic has been studied. Angular spectrum and ray optics theory have been used for theoretical analysis and the acoustic microscope operating at a center frequency of 3 MHz has been used for experiment. In experiment, it has been shown that each material has a V(z) curve of a unique form and the interval of dips appearing in the V(z) curves have been used to determine the Rayleigh wave velocity.
Recently, the construction of infrastructures has been booming and accelerating to keep up with rapid economic growth. Construction activities and operation of transportation facilities cause unfavorable effects such as civil petitions associated with vibration-induced damages or nuisances. Accordingly, the objective of this study is to develop vibration-controlled concrete using various vibration-controlled mixtures, and also to recycle obsolete materials in part. As the first step to achieve this research, preliminary mix designs have been carried out to obtain an appropriate mix proportion above 200kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ in uniaxial compressive strength. Test specimen based on the mix proportion selected have been actuated by the impact hammer to investigate their dynamic characteristics. Vibration-controlled mixtures are foam, latex, rubber powder and plastic resin, which have been determined to reduce a vibration by and large. KS F2437 and travel time method have been used to figure out 1st natural frequency and dynamic elastic moduli. Damping ratios have been computed by adopting the polynomial curvefitting method and the geometric analysis method on the frequency response spectrum curve. of which results have been compared and analyzed hereon.

Microwave diagnostics method for plasma science and engineering is vigorous research area for its good characteristics such as high sensitivity, reliability, and broad measurement spectrum from low density plasma to high density. We investigate mechanism of microwave probes (hairpin, impedance and absorbtionf probe) and apply it for interpretation of full transmitted spectrum of cutoff probe. Mechanism of the spectrum having same key roles of I-V curve of Langmuir probe is not exactly revealed yet in spite of its importance. This study elucidates physics behind it using a circuit model and E/M wave simulation. Circuit model reveals exact cut-off peak frequency taking account of a collision frequency and a plasma frequency and it enable precise diagnostics of plasma densty from low pressure to high pressre. Cut-off like peaks have been obstacle for choosing cut-off peak is analyzed by E/M simulation and one of cutoff like peaks made by probe holder used for acquire plasma density with cutoff peak applying the hairpin relation. Furthermore, phase difference method for plasma density is conducted. This method uses a single microwave frequency source and it is low-priced.
In the evaluation of the subgrade stiffness structure by the SASW method, the calculation of the phase velocities is the important task controlling the reliability of the result. The interpretation of the phase spectrum should precede the phase-velocity calculation in the current practice of the SASW method. The difficulty involved in the interpretation prohibited the SASW method from being spread over to the industry. This study proposed a new method called the frequency-wave number technique, which is based on the frequency-wave number relationship of the surface wave in the multi-layered system. The frequency-wave number technique eliminates the expertise in the interpretation of the phase spectrum, automates the phase-velocity calculation and expedites the determination of the phase-velocity dispersion curve. To verify the validity of the proposed frequency-wave number method, the transfer function determined from the numerical simulation of the SASW measurements was used fir the calculation of the automatic calculation of the phase velocities and compared with the phase velocities by WinSASW employing the phase-unwrapping method. Also, the proposed method was applied to the real SASW measurements performed at$\bigcirc$$\bigcirc$area in GyeongGi-Do to see how the proposed method works with the real measurements.

To determine the natural frequencies and damping ratios of composite laminated plates, we present an officient modal parameter estimation technique by developing residual spectrum based structural system reconstruction. The modal parameters can be estimated from poles and residues of the system transfer functions, derived from the state space system matrices. From vibration tests on cross-ply and angle-ply composite laminates, the natural frequencies and damping ratios can be estimated using the modal coordinates of the structural dynamic system reconstructed from the experimental frequency response functions. These results are compared with those of finite element analysis and single-degree-of-freedom curve fitting.
We present the Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) analysis on the quasi-periodic modulation of SMC X-1. SMC X-1, consisting of a neutron star and a massive companion, exhibits superorbital modulation with a period varying between ~40 d and ~65 d. We applied the HHT on the light curve observed by the All-Sky Monitor onboard Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) to obtain the instantaneous frequency of the superorbital modulation of SMC X-1. The resultant Hilbert spectrum is consistent with the dynamic power spectrum while it shows more detailed information in both the time and frequency domains. According to the instantaneous frequency, we found a correlation between the superorbital period and the modulation amplitude. Combining the spectral observation made by the Proportional Counter Array onboard RXTE and the superorbital phase derived in the HHT, we performed a superorbital phase-resolved spectral analysis of SMC X-1. An analysis of the spectral parameters versus the orbital phase for different superorbital states revealed that the diversity of $n_H$ has an orbital dependence. Furthermore, we obtained the variation in the eclipse profiles by folding the All Sky Monitor light curve with orbital period for different superorbital states. A dip feature, similar to the pre-eclipse dip of Her X-1, can be observed only in the superorbital ascending and descending states, while the width is anti-correlated with the X-ray flux.

In order to evaluate the earthquake safety of equipment in structures, it is essential to analyze the In-Structure Response Spectrum (ISRS). The ISRS has a peak value at the frequency corresponding to the structural vibration mode, but the frequency and amplitude at the peak can vary because of many uncertain parameters. There are several seismic design criteria for ISRS peak-broadening for fixed base structures. However, there are no suggested criteria for constructing the design ISRS of seismically isolated structures. The ISRS of isolated structures may change due to the major uncertainty parameter of the isolator, which is the shear stiffness of the isolator and the several uncertainty parameters caused by the nonlinear behavior of isolators. This study evaluated the effects on the ISRS due to the initial stiffness of the bi-linear curve of isolators and the variation of effective stiffness by the input ground motion intensity and intense motion duration. Analyzing a simplified structural model for isolated base structure confirmed that the ISRS at the frequency of structural mode was amplified and shifted. It was found that the uncertainty of the initial stiffness of isolators significantly affects the shape of ISRS. The variation caused by the intensity and duration of input ground motions was also evaluated. These results suggested several considerations for generating ISRS for seismically isolated structures.
The fatigue damage caused by wide band loadings has generally been predicted using fatigue damage models in the frequency domain rather than a rain-flow counting method in the time domain because of its computation cost. This study showed that these fatigue damage models can be simplified in the form of normalized fatigue damage as a function of the S-N curve slope and bandwidth parameters. Based on numerical simulations of various wide band spectra, it was found that fatigue damage models in the form of normalized fatigue damage with one S-N curve slope and two bandwidth parameters( α1 , α2 ) provided less reasonable fatigue damage. Therefore, an additional bandwidth parameter needs to be considered based on a sensitivity study using various neural networks, which proved that α1-5 would be the dominant factor of a fatigue damage model as an additional bandwidth parameter.
Doppler-free circular polarization spectroscopy in 87Rb Dz line has been carried out by using a diode laser whose linewidth was narrowed by an external cavity, and experimental results were compared with an optical pumping polarization spectroscopy theory. A dispersive spectrum obtained in a weak pump beam was completely fitted to a single cycle optical pumping theory. The laser frequency was locked to a Rb atomic hyperfine transition line without any frequency modulation by using the dispersive curve as an error signal. ignal.
