To improve the skirt characteristic of the high-temperature superconducting filter, we proposed a structure of cascading two independent hairpin-comb filters with an identical frequency response. Resonators of the cascaded filter are arranged in the shape of a diamond so that it minimizes the cross coupling between the resonators. This structure can be used effectively to improve the skirt characteristic of the filter in limited area of a circular wafer. The simulated skirt characteristic of the 18 pole cascaded filter is more than 40dB/MHz attenuation below and above the passband.

This paper introduces analog FIR filters based on a distributed amplifier and analyzes the proposed filter's characteristics. A simple design method of an analog FIR filter based on the digital filter design technique is also introduced. The proposed analog FIR filters are a moving average(MA) and a comb type filters with no multiplier. This simple structures of the proposed filters may enable to operate at multi-GHz frequency range and applicable to combine a filter and an amplifier of RF system. The proposed analog FIR filters were implemented with standard $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The designed GHz analog FIR filters are simulated by Cadence Spectre and compared to the results of digital FIR filters obtained from MATLAB simulations. From the simulation results, the characteristics of the proposed analog FIR filters are fairly well matched with those of digital FIR filters.
Four species belonging to the Drosophila melanogaster complex were examined genetically and morphologically to analyze interspecific relationships. Insemination rates ranged from 96% to 99% within species crosses, but interspecific crosses among the four species exhibited a great variations in the frequency of successful matings. D. melanogaster females mated relatively well with males of other species and D. sechellia males were more successful in mating with females of other species. In the crosses among D. simulans, D. mauritiana and D. sechellia, hybrid flies were fertile in females, but sterile in males regardless of reciprocal matings. The phenogenetically relationship between this complex and their hybrids were investigated by the comparison of sex comb tooth number and genital arch of male. They were controlled by polygenic factors on the chromosome of both parents. The effects of temperature on viability of hybrids between D. melanogaster females and D. simulans males were investigated for detection of genes concerning the speciation. The temperature sensitivity of the hybrid was mainly controlled by genes located on the X chromosome of D. simulans males.

We present a novel method for 3D microfabrication with LIGA process that utilizes a deep X-ray mask in which a micro-actuator is integrated. The integrated micro-actuator oscillates the X-ray absorber, which is formed on the shuttle mass of the micro-actuator, during X-ray exposures to modify the absorbed dose profile in X-ray resist, typically PMMA. 3D PMMA microstructures according to the modulated dose contour are revealed after GG development. An X-ray mask with integrated comb drive actuator is fabricated using deep reactive ion etching, absorber electroplating, and bulk micromachining with silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafer. 1mm $\times$ 1 mm, 20 $\mu$m thick silicon shuttle mass as a mask blank is supported by four 1 mm long suspension beams and is driven by the comb electrodes. A 10 $\mu$m thick, 50 $\mu$m line and spaced gold absorber pattern is electroplated on the shuttle mass before the release step. The fundamental frequency and amplitude are around 3.6 kHz and 20 $\mu$m, respectively, for a do bias of 100 V and an ac bias of 20 $V_{p-p}$ (peak-peak). Fabricated PMMA microstructure shows 15.4 $\mu$m deep, S-shaped cross section in the case of 1.6 kJ $cm^{-3}$ surface dose and GG development at 35$^{\circ}C$ for 40 minutes.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify through infrared thermal imaging technology the facial surface temperature (FST) of laying hens in response to the variations in their thermal environment, and to identify the regional differences in FST to determine the most stable and reliable facial regions for monitoring of thermoregulatory status in chickens. Methods: Thirty Hy-Line Brown hens (25-week-old) were sequentially exposed to three different thermal conditions; optimal (OT, 22℃±2℃), low (LT, 10℃±4℃), and high temperature (HT, 30℃±2℃). The mean values of FST in five facial regions including around the eyes, earlobes, wattles, beak and nose, and comb were recorded through infrared thermography. The maximum FST (MFST) was also identified among the five face-selective regions, and its relationship with temperature-humidity index (THI) was established to identify the range of MFST in response to the variations in their thermal environment. Results: Hens exposed to OT condition at 15:00 displayed a higher temperature at wattles and around the eyes compared to other regions (p<0.001). However, under LT condition at 05:00 to 08:00, around the eyes surface temperature showed the highest value (p<0.01). In HT, wattles temperature tended to show the highest temperature over almost time intervals. Main distribution regions of MFST were wattles (63.3%) and around the eyes (16.7%) in OT, around the eyes (50%) in LT, and wattles (62.2%) and comb (18.3%) in HT. The regression equation between MFST and THI was estimated as MFST = 35.37+0.2383×THI (R2 = 0.44; p<0.001). Conclusion: The FST and the frequency of MFST in each facial region of laying hens responded sensitively to the variations in the thermal environment. The findings of this experiment provide useful information about the effect of the thermal conditions on the specific facial regions, thus offering an opportunity to stress and welfare assessment in poultry research and industry.

In this paper, we propose a method to design a generalized sinusoidal frequency modulated(GSFM) pulse that is robust to reverberation environment. GSFM pulses are a generalized form of SFM(Sinusoidal frequency modulated) pulses, which have the advantage of having a thumbtack ambiguity function with excellent range and Doppler resolution. However, the periodicity disappears during the generalization process, therefore, the detection performance is reduced in reverberation environment compared to SFM pulse with comb spectrum. In this paper, the trade-off relationship between the reverberation suppression performance of the SFM pulse and the range resolution performance of the GSFM pulse is analyzed by appropriately changing the parameter ${\rho}$ of the GSFM pulse. In order to verify the performance of the proposed GSFM pulse, the simulation was performed and it was confirmed that the proposed GSFM pulse has excellent distance resolution while detecting the slow Doppler target.
This paper is concerned with a equalization technique for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems based on a block type pilot arrangement over slow fading channels. The bit rates obtained in underwater channels are relatively modest compared to some other communication channels such as cellular phones or indoor wireless systems. Consequently. the Doppler effect is the important parameter in tracking a channel. In case of a coherent demodulation scheme, the residual mean phase errors due to Doppler frequency may be fatal for the performance of the system. The equalizer could not solely handle mean Doppler shift. To account for the common Doppler effect a phase error tracking loop is used with the frequency equalizer. so that the rotation errors are avoided. Furthermore. simulations show that we can reduce the computational load of the tracking loop with negligible effect on performance.
We propose comb-line filter using SIR(Stepped Impedance Resonator) with two transmission line. The coupling structure of the filter is double coupled line where two coupled lines are linked with cascade. We find out the inverter function of the filter. using even and odd mode impedance. The merits of the filter are that first, we can design transmission zero point at any frequency that we wanted without using lumped elements : chip capacitors and inductors. Second, we can design small size filters. To validate the inverter function of the filter with double coupled line we designed and fabricated two-pole band pass filter with the proposed filter structure.
Pulsed ultrasonic Doppler system is a useful diagnostic instrument to measure blood-flow-velocity, velocity profile, and volume-blood-flow. This system is more powerful compare with 2-dimensional B-scan tissue image. A system has been deve- loped and ii being evaluated using TMS 32010 DSP. We use this DSP for the purpose of real-time spectrum analyzer to obtain spectrogram in singlegate pulsed Doppler system and for the serial comb filter to cancel clutter and zero crossing counter to estimate Doppler mean frequency in multigate pulsed Doppler system. The Doppler shift of the backscattered signals is sensed in a phase detector. This Doppler signal corresponds to the mean velocity over a some region in space defined by the ultrasonic beam dimensions, transmitted pulse duration, and transducer ban(iwidth. Multi- gate pulsed Doppler system enable the transcutaneous and simultaneous assessment of the velocities in a number of adjacent sample volumes as a continuous function of time. A multigate pulsed Doppler system processing the information originating from presented.
To evaluate elastic and micro-failure properties of MEMS materials, the electro-statically operated test devices were designed and fabricated by micro machining technology. The test structures consist or comb drives for loading and suspending beams in testing. From the analysis of beam displacement based on elastic beam theory, elastic modulus and yield strength of Al film were measured. And, by introducing the micro notch and cyclic loading, the micro-failure was Induced and the micro-fracture toughness of Si film was evaluated. Moreover, the cycles to failure were estimated from the degradation of resonant frequency. Finally, the effects of notch on micro failure were discussed.
