In order to not only perform as a extreme model under the severe operating condition but also acquire more diverse and advanced control capability utilizing high compliance, active vibration control of a flexible 2-link robot manipulator are investigated. Multi variable-structured frequency shaped optimal sliding mode is proposed for the flexible robot manipulator like control system, whose control variables, an angular motion of joint and vibration of flexible link, have to be controlled simultaneously by one control torque at a driving joint. The control system is divided into two subsystems, a control input related subsystem and an added subsystem. The proposed sliding mode, composed of multi control variables, makes optimized relation between subsystems and a individual control input, thus, the sliding mode controller can compensate whole dynamics of each subsystems simultaneously. And the possibility and effectiveness are verified by vibration control of a manipulator having two flexible links. Simulation and experiment results show that the proposed control scheme achieves the purpose effectively.

Leaky modes on a circular dielectric rod are investigated from the precisely determined normalized complex propagation constants using Davidenko's complex root finding technique. Below the cutoff frequency of the guided mode, distinct frequency regions that have unique properties are observed, such as nonphysical region, antenna mode region, reactive mode region, and spectral gap region. The effects of tro design parameters, dielectric constants and the radius of the rod, to the leaky mode characteristics are also considered.
Dynamic Characteristics of two different types of ER(electro-rheological)mounts ; flow and shear mode types are analyzed and compared. As a first step, field-dependent Bingham models of a chemically treated starch/silicone oil-based ER fluid are empirically identified under both flow and shear mode conditions. The models are them incorporated to the governing equation of the corresponding mode ER mount. For the reasonable comparison between two ER mounts, electrode parameters such as electrode gap are designed to be same. Dynamic stiffness and displacement transmissibility of each ER mount are evaluated in frequency domain with respect to the intensity of electric filed. In addition, vibration control capability of each ER mount is investigated in both frequency and time domains by employing the skyhook controller.

Due to the complex arrangement of frequency plans and spatial overages in modern satellite communications, channels that are non-contiguous in frequency may be amplified by a single power amplifier and transmitted to the ground through one beam. In this paper, a dual-mode canonical filter with dual-passband is presented. The filter adopts dual-mode technique for mass and volume reduction. Canonical structure is adopted for maximum transmission zero realization. To validate the design technique, a 6-pole dual-mode canonical dual-passband filter for Ka-band(30/20 ㎓) satellite transponder is realized. The measured frequency response of the filter shows good agreement with the computed one.
In this paper, the coupled and the non-coupled vibration mode AE sensor for GIS were simulated by finite element analysis and manufactured, and characterized. The maximum sensitivity was 64.3 dB when the resonant frequency of the coupled vibration mode AE sensor was 166 kHz and the maximum sensitivity was 58.9 dB when the resonant frequency of the non-coupled mode AE sensor was 265 kHz. The coupled vibration mode AE sensor responded higher than the non-coupled vibration mode AE sensor at the partial discharge detection in GIS.

The effect of the configuration of the nozzle and the impinging surface on the characteristics of the hole-tones has been experimentally investigated. It is found that the plate-tone is a special case of hole-tones, where the hole diameter is zero. The jet velocity range for hole-tones is divided into the low velocity region associated with laminar jet and the high velocity region with turbulent jet. The frequency of the tone is that for the shear layer instability at the nozzle exit or that attainable by a cascade of vortex pairing process with increase of the impinging distance. When the distance is longer than one diameter the frequency decreases to the terminal value near the preferred frequency of the column mode instability, in the range 0.23< $St_d$<0.53, where $St_d$ is the Strouhal number defined by $fd/U_J$, f the frequency, d the nozzle diameter, and $U_J$ the exit velocity. While the convection speed of the downstream vortex, in the present study, is almost constant at low-speed laminar jet, it increases with distance at high-speed turbulent jet. As the frequency increases, the convection speed decreases in the low frequency range corresponding to the preferred mode, in agreement with the existing experimental data for a free jet.

In this paper, an efficient frequency offset synchronization structure for OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) is proposed. Conventional CORDIC(Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer) algorithm for frequency offset synchronization utilizes two CORDIC hardware i.e., one is vector mode for phase estimation, the other is rotation mode for compensation. But proposed structure utilizes one CORDIC hardware and divider. Through simulation, it is shown that hardware implementation complexity is reduced compared with conventional structures. The Verilog-HDL coding and front-end chip implementation results for the proposed structure show 22.1% gate count reduction comparison with those of the conventional structure.

The motion of a system composed of a plate, constant springs and varying dampers is considered when the system is subject to harmonic force. Letting the frequencies of harmonic force and damper variation ${\Large f}_1\;and\;{\Large f}_2$ respectively, the displacement at the center of the plate has the strongest component at frequency ${\Large f}_1$. The angular displacement of the plate has strong components at ${\Large f}_1-{\Large f}_2$ and the natural frequency of the rotational mode of the system. If these two frequencies coincide, the plate oscillates with almost single frequency and a large amplitude. Part of these simulation results are proved analytically.

This paper presents a new method for designing a dual-band WIFI antenna using the third-order harmonic mode of a monopole antenna whose first-order mode operates at the low frequency band of WIFI. As analysing the current distribution of the third-order mode of this monopole antenna, the strongest point of electric field can be found. Then by attaching a stub at this point, the resonant frequency of the stub radiator can be adjusted from the third-order mode of the monopole antenna into the high frequency band of WIFI and the input impedance at this resonant frequency can be controlled with the width of the branch, without affecting the low frequency band of WIFI (the first-order mode of the monopole antenna). The compact dual-band antenna is designed at the size of an USB(universal serial bus) dongle and the bandwidth covers 600 MHz(2.3~3 GHz) at 2 GHz and 1 GHz(4.9~5.9 GHz) at 5 GHz under -10 dB which is satisfied with WLAN frequency. Efficiency of proposed antenna achieves over 50 % at WLAN frequency.
